Failed to wake NIC for hcmd

Hi,
Very recently my wifi has been "vanishing" all of a sudden, with no good determined scenario. Rebooting fixes the problem temporarily (so I was hoping it's software related).
The following error messages are shown by dmesg:
[ 2058.691869] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Failed to wake NIC for hcmd
[ 2058.691907] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Error sending SCAN_REQUEST_CMD: enqueue_hcmd failed: -5
[ 2058.691913] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Scan failed! status 0x1 ret -5
[ 2178.789055] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Failed to wake NIC for hcmd
[ 2178.789075] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Error sending SCAN_REQUEST_CMD: enqueue_hcmd failed: -5
[ 2178.789079] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Scan failed! status 0x1 ret -5
[ 2298.885158] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Failed to wake NIC for hcmd
[ 2298.885180] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Error sending SCAN_REQUEST_CMD: enqueue_hcmd failed: -5
[ 2298.885183] iwlwifi 0000:01:00.0: Scan failed! status 0x1 ret -5
   Has anyone seen that error?
Edit: Removed stupid commentary written due to lack os good sleep.
Regards,

  • IPhone Turning Itself Off - Failing to Wake Up

My iPhone 3G has been turning itself off/failing to wake up for a couple of months now. I've tried restoring it and deleting iTunes and then reinstalling. Apple support tried and couldn't fix and said it was an iTunes issue. Their suggestions didn't fix anything and I'm getting really frustrated. I have found several forums on other sites in which lots of people are having this same issue. iPhone is not jailbroken, hasn't been abused, etc. I've turned off push notifications b/c one forum said this would decrease the problem. My phone turns itself off randomly when in sleep mode for no apparent reason. I can do a hard reset and it will come back on after several seconds, but phone calls and texts have been missed. Sometimes they don't show up for several more minutes after the phone is turned back on. This didn't start until around when I updated my software a couple of months ago. Maybe OS3.1? Help, help, help!!!

  • MacBook Pro 2006 2.16gb fails on wake up and refusing to start etc!

    Hi everyone,
I've been having tremendous issues with my 2006 MacBook Pro 2.16gb. If it went to sleep, overnight for example, I would be unable to wake it up. I'd keep hitting the return key and nothing, then the lid latch light would go out. I'd hit the power button, something, either the fan or the hard disc would spin up for a few seconds and then I'd hear a small ping and it would shut down again. I could do this ten times in a row and nothing. Then it wouldn't work at all for a while and not even the latch light would light up. For all intents and purposes, an aluminum brick.
I managed to get it restarted by disconnecting the power overnight including removing the battery. Then battery in, then power cable, then hit the power key. The disc would spin up and the front light would light for a few seconds, then just like above, it would go out again. I'd do this 4-5 times, then the latch light would stay on, the spinning sound would be enhanced by a second sound on the Hard drive side for a couple of seconds, then the Disc Drive would make a noise and I was back in business, until the next time it went to sleep. Now, if I refused to let it go to sleep, which I did for weeks at a time and just dimmed the display, it would function perfectly. I upgraded recently to Snow Leopard, and the first time around, it was a complete nightmare and the machine just bricked on me and I had to reinstall from the back up back to Leopard. HOWEVER, when I tried it a second time a month later (after I'd upgraded some of the software on the machine including Quick Time) it just upgraded without any issues and restarted normally. In fact, it woke up a couple of times normally as well on the first day if not left for too long. However, when I left it overnight, back to the old issues again.
Extra information: I've tried all the fixes I've found on power and wake up issues, from resetting power management, PRAM/VRAM resets, dumping all the recommended plist prefs, etc. etc. etc.
Everybody is telling me it's either my logic board, it's this, it's that but generally telling me it's something REALLY expensive. NOW, if this is true...
QUESTION: WHY is my MBP behaving perfectly when booted in Windows XP??????
I've left it overnight and it woke up perfectly! Twice I've closed the lid overnight, which in OSX guaranteed a restart or a dead MAC, I've disconnected the power system and put it to sleep, I've done everything to try and replicate the issue in Windows, but I can't!
Right now, I have a REALLY expensive Windows laptop with all my purchased software over on the Mac Side.
BTW, I've also run all the tests God imagined using Disk Warrior, TechTool Pro latest version for Snow Leopard etc. etc., I've stressed the Hard disc as much as I could and everything just keeps coming up roses with ALL the hardware including RAM etc.
Two nights ago I wiped the hard drive, zeroed it out, then installed 10.6.1 clean. I let it ride for a day and it worked perfectly again. I then reinstalled my software from backup while deleting my old user and creating a new one. I had noticed that there were some error messages in the console on the old owner and thought that might be it. Well, it's started doing the same thing again and I'm now suspicious that there's something conflicting with the wake up, hibernation and sleep modes that is causing the problem. I backed up everything and have now replicated my problem and am pasting the contents of the system log in the hope someone can make some suggestions as to what the computer is doing. Unfortunately, I can't interpret. BTW, I did install "safesleep" because one person suggested it as a fix and that seems to have an issue if I'm reading the console right, but I don't know how to remove it. And anyway, the computer was doing this before I installed it... The following system log is from the time I completed the backup, then I let it sleep on its own, then when I tried to wake it up, it failed to wake up. Then I pressed the power button and got the spin up and down described at the beginning of the message 6-8 times before it started normally.
    Any help would be appreciated!!!!!

  • Notebook fails to wake up after second suspend

With kernel 2.6.26, my Toshiba notebook rebooted when suspending/hibernating. With kernel 2.6.27, the first time I suspend works flawlessly, but it fails to wake up after a second suspend. I can hear the hard drive start up (it doesn't sound like it's being read, though), but the screen remains off and the computer doesn't respond to any keystrokes.
I've looked through my logs, but haven't found any differences between the first and second suspend process, and nothing of note from the first wake-up.
Has anyone else had a similar issue? I can paste some logs, notebook info, etc. if requested, but I'm not entirely sure what would be helpful in this process.

My "nearest" local Apple Store is almost 40 km far from where I live...It's clearly a softwere problem and yes, It's not new for Apple. I hope they consider this annoying problem and fix it as soon as possible. I also noticed that doing a "Verify Disk" via Disk Utility an error accours by checking the free space of the HDD. It's suggested to repair the disk immediatly (bold red alarm pops out ) rebooting the system and using the tools under the CMD-R startup. By the way, ignoring the problem and by just verify the disk again, the error maigcally disapper into the void...that's weird !
I hope somethings will come out, I'm really, really annoyed by this problem and i don't want to run in some data loss or HDD failure because i really need my Mac for work (as, i think, most of us )!

  • Can I report on massage Failed to wake up the device

I have a bundle to wakeup machines for patch and updates. I would like to be able to report on the failing ones. when they fail I see a message under each failed workstaion that says "Failed to wake up the device". I need to track down these machines to see why they do not wake up.

kind of...... We created a vb script that reads a txt file exported from zen of mac addesses, IPs and machine names. It does a ping, wakeup if not active. a modified script runs again in a few hours that just does a ping. if machines do not respond back we look into why.
We exclude laptops from this and do that in a seperate script. this also alows us to keep tabs on what users NEVER take thier laptops home with them. We we can wake them up evernight then they obviously do not need a laptop ;)

  • NICs for Private Interconnect redundancy

    DB/Grid version : 11.2.0.2
    Platform : AIX 6.1
We are going to install a 2-node RAC on AIX (that thing which is almost good as Solaris )
    Our primary private interconnect is
    ### Primary Private Interconnect
    169.21.204.1      scnuprd186-privt1.mvtrs.net  scnuprd186-privt1
169.21.204.4      scnuprd187-privt1.mvtrs.net  scnuprd187-privt1For Cluster inteconnect's redundancy , Unix team has attached an extra NIC for each node with an extra Gigabit-ethernet switch for these NICs.
###Redundant Private Interconnect attached to the server
    169.21.204.2      scnuprd186-privt2.mvtrs.net  scnuprd186-privt2  # Node1's newly attached redundant NIC
    169.21.204.5      scnuprd187-privt2.mvtrs.net  scnuprd187-privt2  # Node2's newly attached redundant NICExample borrowed from citizen2's post
Apparently I have 2 ways to implement cluster inteconnect's redundancy
Option1. NIC bonding at OS level
Option2. Let grid software do it
    Question1. Which is better : Option 1 or 2 ?
    Question2.
    Regarding Option2.
From googling and OTN , i gather that , during grid installation you just provide 169.21.204.0 for cluster inteconnect and grid will identify the redundant NIC and switch. And if something goes wrong with the Primary Interconnect setup (shown above) , grid will automatically re-route interconnect traffic using the redundant NIC setup. Is this correct ?
    Question 3.
My colleague tells me , for the redundant Switch (Gigabit) Unless I configure some Multicasting (AIX specific), I could get errors during installation. He doesn't clearly what it was ? Anyone faced Multicasting related issue on this ?

    Hi,
My recommendation is to you use the AIX EtherChannel.
The EtherCannel of AIX is much more powerfull and stable compared with HAIP.
See how setup AIX EtherChannel on 10 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces

If you choose use HAIP I recommend you read this note, and find all notes about bugs of HAIP on AIX.

I think this has something to do with the MSI-setup (NICI_wx64.msi) not being able to find certain keys in the registry for some reason
Recently we had problem with an MSI-based Java-installation running with admin-privileges where it would fail if "Folder Redirection" was enabled. We had set My Documents to point to H:\ which was mapped via Novell as the home folder.
the registry settings for that are found under: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]. This however is NOT the problem here so the root cause for the error is still unclear to me.
Indeed, but remember we are troubleshooting the client here- it may be possible that there was some corruption in the first failed update. So thus removing any components and with a clean install of the Novell client, to try the update process again to ascertain were exactly the process may have failed by examining any logs and/or dumps.

Ever since I've installed a second hard drive in my T410, a Hitachi 250GB drive, my machine fails to wake from sleep (sometimes)... Then I have to do a hard reset.
I had the same problem without the 2nd drive when I tried to use the HD Password in the BIOS and found out that it was something to do with the Crucial M4 drive I'm using. But this same problem is now happening ever since using the 2nd drive slot.
Any ideas? I really like the extra storage space and don't want to remove it based on this problem.

Well it seems the problem was caused by the firmware version for the SSD I've installed.

  • Verification Failed. The certificate for this server is invalid

I am trying to backup my iPad to iCloud.  I get:
Verification Failed.  The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "setup.icloud.com" which could put your confidential information at risk.
I am logged onto the wifi at work and I can surf the Internet so the connection is OK.
How do I begin to debug this issue?

    Hey everyone,
I had this issue for few months already! I have a @me.com mail address, theoretically should be compatible with iCloud, just for some reason, it's not working!!
The mail all work fine on my macbook and iPhone, just the ipad kept showing the error message, the "verification failed".
The internet is wi-fi and it all working fine.
    Now here is the solution.
Make sure you got internet connected fine.
Go Setting --> Mail, Contacts, Calendars --> Add Account --> Other
    --> Add Mail Address -->
in the description, it will auto showing "Me", don't change it!
    Go "Next" -->
    in the Incoming Mail Server
    Host Name --> Type "imap.mail.me.com"
Then your user name and password
    in the Outgoing Mail Server
    Host Name --> Type "smtp.mail.me.com"
Then your user name and password
    Then next and save it.
This should work, it works for me,
    Hope this helps!!

    Hello!
I face the same problem with Failed to create delegate for component:
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Failed to create delegate for component
XXX.YYY.ZZZ..ume.Ume. (Hint: Is the corresponding DC deployed correctly? Does the DC contain the component?)
    Caused by: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
    Caused by: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com.sap.tc.webdynpro.model.webservice.gci.WSTypedModelClass
I think this started after upgrading from 7.01 SP3 to SP5, but I'm not sure.
What was it that solved your issue?
*I found the error. My ProjectProperties.wdProperties did not contain the references it needed.*

  • Macbook occasionally fails to wake from sleep

i have a new macbook (purchsed in july) which occasionally (every 1-2 weeks) fails to wake from sleep. it either hangs on the blue screen which first comes up when you switch it on, or on the black screen which normally follows shortly afterwards.
i regularly use it "closed", i.e., with an external screen and keyboard, but the problem seems also to happen occasionally when i switch it on without these peripherals.
    any ideas?
i've also had dvd player crash once. it was in full screen mode, and i couldn't switch to any other applications or force quit dvd player, so again i had to cut power.
    Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Having similar issues...not that it happens everyday ...it's very infrequent..but yeah im in the same boat..
As far as the computer being hot...
    Go to :
    System Preference--->Energy Savings
From there you should have the boxed check both on Battery power and AC Cord to put the Hard drive to sleep when possible..
Once i did this it never happened again(the closing of the lid and still running)
as far as the other issue??Help.!!Anyone?
