Failing import
I am having difficulty importing images into iPhoto. The app tells me that certain files (gives the path to images on the camera) are corrupt. This is only happening with v.6.0.2. Images that do import have strong color bands or hotspots in them. They look much like a roll of film that was briefly exposed to light.
I also tried using Image Capture ... same thing, so this is not entirely an iPhoto issue. Since I rarely have problems with my Mac or it's apps, I immediately thought this was a camera issue. Plugged my wifes camera in and it did the same thing.
On my laptop (which is running v5.0.4) I have no problems importing images. Anybody out there ever heard of this one before?

Are you trying to import photos into iPhoto that are located within the iPhoto Library folder? If so that's the problem. Move them to the desktop and import from there. iPhoto will not import any file that is anywhere inside it's iPhoto Library folder.

Aperture will not recognize photos after failed import?
Hi, I'm running a 13.3" MacBook Pro circa fall 2010 with 10.6.8.
I was uploading photos from an SD card I use with my camera. I accidentally pressed "import all", and Aperture began to import everything on the card. I did not want this, so I stopped it. A pop-up appeared, something about "if I want to finish the import first," I think. I pressed "no." It eventually all stopped after canceling it 1 or 2 more times.
After this happened, I can no longer see the photos on the SD card when trying to import them in Aperture. It just shows a grey background with "Loading Assetts..." at the bottom and the spinning wheel.
Why won't Aperture recognize these photos after this failed import? And how do I fix it!

-P.W.When you are seeing Aperture stuck on "Loading Assets", try to select that line in the Activity window. If possible, press "Cancel task".
Can you now access the option in the "Import" window and check the setting? Make sure, that "Do not import duplicates" is disabled, and that the "Import Settings" do not exclude any filetypes.
Check the "File Types" brick and the "Raw&Jpeg" pairs brick. Can you now see again the images on the card?
In any case, repair your Aperture library after the force quit. Aperture 3 User Manual: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library
Your Aperture library may have become corrupted, so that the Import dialog cannot access the database files inside.

I noticed that the content within the CERT is different. Not sure if that is relevant.I am not sure what the "store.connect()" does, based on the exceptions seems to be trying to make non-https connection which based on the documentation is not supported:

I am amazed to know that the report is coming blank. According to me, I think there isn't any setting required which you have missed.
I can see 2 reasons for the report to be blank:
1. I guess you might be trying to import huge number of records and also the MDM server connectivity might be very slow, that it why it is not able to process the report.
2. Is the MDM import Manager GUI version mathcing with the MDM server version. This reason causes many features inside the MDM Gui's to not funciton properly. Kindly check your GUI version and the MDM server version if they match. This might be one reason of the report not getting displayed.
Also You have mentioned that the Reocrds are failing to import:
Again there can be various reasons for fialure:
1. One/Many of the property that you have set through Console might have got Violated. For ex, Uniquesses. The records may have duplicate values for field which was set as unique.
2. Also your file may have some special characters which MDM is not able to import and hence throwing you an error.
However, you are right in telling that it will be easier to de-bug if the report is seen.
Also I would like to advice 1 more workaround:
1. If you are trying the manual importing, then try doing it with Automatic Importing. You will find the Log being generated in the Log folder, as soon as the records fail to import. You can then study the log and find out the cause of the error.

We perform many custom validations during the Import phase, mostly in several different events in the ImportAction script. When a submission does not pass a given validation, we use mProcessLog to set the Import status to failure in most Events, however, I can't get the following to work in the PostWorkToMainProcess ImportAction Event:

Is there a way to set the Import status to failure in either the ImportAction/PostWorkToMainProcess or ImportAction/EndProcess Events without scripting a purposely erroneous command? For instance, I can insert RES.PcolScriptInfo.Item("ScriptInfo").ColFlds.Item("Cancel").varValue = True into the PostWorkToMainProcess Event, which will cause the Import to fail because PostWorkToMainProcess is not cancelable, however, I also get an InfoBar Automation Error message that would incite users to call the help desk. I definitely want to avoid that.

CD's no longer detected by computer after failed import into iTunes
I had been successfully importing CD's into itunes for a long time. On this particular occasion, itunes only imported part of a CD and then froze. Since that time, my computer cannot detect the presence of CD's at all. While the drive itself shows up, it will not play music CD's or read data CD's. Strangely, it will still play DVD's from the same drive. I have tried all of the troubleshooting steps I know to do. I'm bewildered as to where to go from here. Some expert advice would be greatly appreciated!
My Micro must be hooked up with Windows Media Player instead of Napster To Go. I dont know how this happened. I really need some help here. I am no longer getting that MPT window that asks what I want to use for my music, Napster or Windows Media Player. Anybody?

Failed import from iPhoto to Aperture - what's the best solution?

After some years of using iPhoto I recently upgraded to Aperture 3.2.2. In connection with that and before opening Aperture, I bought a new external hard drive and moved my iPhoto library to it, following Apple's instructions on how to move an iPhoto library to a different drive.
When I opened Aperture and was given the option to import my iPhoto library (of some 30,000 images), I chose, because I thought it was safer, to allow Aperture to access the images in my iPhoto library as referenced images rather than to store them in the Aperture library.
Unfortunately, the import was incomplete. I decided to try to import again, in the same way, to see if that would result in my having all of the iPhoto images. The re-import was also incomplete. Worse than that, although I had told Aperture not to import duplicates, it imported for a second time many of the images that it imported the first time. I now have in Aperture two separate large but incomplete iPhoto libraries.
After this, I learned that before using an external drive with Aperture I should have formatted it to Mac OS Extended, which I had not done. Other research I have done suggests that a surprising number of people have significant problems in trying to move iPhoto libraries to Aperture, but I have not found a case that addresses my problem.
My idea now, subject to any advice anyone can give me, is to move the iPhoto library back to the Mac's hard drive (there is enough room, but little spare), delete everything on the external drive, format the external drive to Mac OS Extended, re-organise some of the iPhoto events, 'delete' the 'contents' of the Aperture library (without affecting of course the contents of the iPhoto library) and try again (possibly by importing the iPhotos this time on an event by event basis).
Is this a good idea? If so, I would be grateful for any suggestions about how to take these steps. In particular, the step of deleting the contents of the Aperture library without affecting the iPhoto library. Are there other better ideas? If so, what?

If there is nothing in your Aperture library that you need to keep, that is a good strategy.
But some suggestions:
Before you move your iPhoto Library from its current location (which will render the Aperture library useless, because it is referencing inside iPhoto), check if you accidentally have imported any images as managed into Aperture: create a smart album with the rule "File status is managed" at the top level of the library albums. This way you will see, if you have any images only in Aperture, that need exporting, before you delete the library.
Also right now the best option to import from iPhoto into Aperture is by importing complete libraries, not single iPhoto events or albums. If you import Libraries, Aperture can combine the iPhoto Originals and the edited versions into "Master-Version" pairs and save considerable space. I advise against referencing the masters inside iPhoto, for it is risky. If you open iPhoto and accidentally edit or modify the referenced master in any way, then the reference will be broken. It would be safer by far to create a backup copy of your iPhoto Library and to import the image files into Aperture or to relocate the imported files as referenced masters somewhere else, after you imported them.

JPEG corrupted, fails import into itunes, mangled datafork?
Hi there Ladies and Gentlemen, I have tried with GraphicConverter but my recent ImageCapture
of some JPEGS from my Canon Powershot are properly corrupted! I cannot import them into
iphoto at all, and preview does not open them either. The GraphicConverter shows a mangled
datafork? It does not recognize the formt... is there any freeware tool out there in the world
to fixup the JPEGS that are corrupt? The JFIF-JPEG Repair tool does not run on OSX 10.4 , since the
version of AppleScript is not recognized....
any tips are welcomed, I would like to fixup my 6 images from the vacation which I think are the best ones ....

sir nullMeant to tackle this one earlier. Chances are your problem files have multiple ID3 tags with inconsistent information and iTunes is only reading one of them.
If the tags read cleanly in a 3rd party tag editor or something like MediaMonkey then you should be able to delete any id3v1.x tags and settle on id3v2.3. In extreme cases you may wish to erease all tags and then rebuild from the file paths, though that presupposes that you have or can get the tracks in a standard <Artist>\<Album>\## <Track> layout.
Once you've fixed the tracks you can either delete and then reimport, or attempt to get iTunes to notice the changes by playing each track (briefly) in turn. I've written a script called UpdateTagInfo which should automate the process of getting iTunes to read any changed metadata but I've not tested its effectiveness lately.

Failed import left master images missing
I was importing photos from my camera to Aperture and it appeared the import was complete. I then deleted the images off of my camera. I later discovered that many of the images had a small alert in the botton right corner with a yellow exclamation point and arrow and that the images were blurred. It says that there are no masters for those photos. Is there any way to reprocess these images or could those masters be somewhere else on my computer where I could recover them? They are not in aperture.
What's not making any sense is that if the previews were generated then the files were imported. The previews cna't be generated without the masters.
Are you sure you didn't import as referenced by mistake? Was there another disk (either local of networked) attached while you did this import? If you open the import window what are the settings in the Aperture library brick?
In Aperture->Preferences->Previews what is the setting for Use embedded JPEG from camera when possible ?

Icloud fails importing Pages docs

I've moved to icloud and in principle great, but loads of glitches so far.
main one...when I import a Pages file into icloud on the web it seems to be there and uploaded.
BUT when I then go to pages on iphone 4, the files seems to be there but message" Document couldn't be imported. An error occured" shows and files wont open. Tried several, same error.
If i open a new pages file on the iphone, all is goog.
Any ideas????
I have all updates, latest versions etc and using same apple ID on both and iclud Documnets is 'on'

I've tried uploading several other Pages files in icloud web on my imac and when uploading I notice that the progress bar shows only about 850 bytes uploading of a 4mb doc. Watching this a few times with different files it seems that the icloud uploader is only uploading a fraction of the file, which would explain the "couldn't be uploaded" error message at the iphone end.
I have the full 50gb storage bought and have about 50gb remaining so my account is not 'full'
The same problem happens with Keynote files also. Only partial uploads.
Anyone have any idea about this.??? -
I photo 08 version 6.0.6 failed import message
Every time I open i photo it asks a default question stating "47 photos have been found int the iphoto library that were not imported. Would you like to import them?"
If i hit yes iphoto freezes.
If i hit no, the same window opens when i open iphoto again.Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Go to the library in your pictures folder, Control-click on it and select Show Package Contents.
Look for a folder inside named "Import" or "Importing". Move it to the Desktop. *DO NOT* make any other changes to the contents of the library folder/package.
Launch iPhoto. Now you can import the photos that are in that Import folder on the desktop.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete. -

Now just some days ago someone stole my old tablet and I was forced to change my password identification because I lost the old one. Now I can download books but I cannot open them because the certification doesn't recognise me like the owner. Is there someone that knows how to solve this problem of identification?

Re-import is still running, log has 200 MB because of constraints mentioned above. Now is the situation same like it was in the past when I was running first re-import.
I made some calculations and investigation to find out how long the re-import will run. I find out that import write into log file "constraint violation" mentioned above, for each failed imported entry, so log will be 5 times bigger (even bigger) than imported data . This re-import is too slow. First re-import took 25hours, log was full of "constraints violation..." and log has 880MB, and all time re-import was writing "constraint violations" only for first table (size of table 360MB) (and did not finish, I terminated him).
By this scenario re-import will run approximately 7months ( I cannot believe that, but my calculation says that :) )
For clarification:
- It is import of only one schema
Maybe I will run re-import without logging and I hope import will be faster. -
Import in 9.0.4.3 : Precheck Fails
I recently upgraded from Portal 9.0.4.1 to 9.0.4.3. Before, I could successfully do transport sets to move Pagegroups and Providers from portal to portal. Now, in the new version I get Pagegroup Precheck failed for no particular reason that I can determine when I try to import. I believe that I must be running into export/import bugs which seem to have infested every version of Portal.
All previous version of Portal had a schema validation utility (SVU) for finding and cleaning out old, failed imports and Consolidated Export/Imports Patchset described in the Export/Import Master Note. Neither SVU or the patchset seems to exist for 9.0.4.3.
Has anyone successfully done export/imports in 9.0.4.3? If not will a 9.0.4.3 compatible SVU and export/import patchset be available?

It is strange that your precheck is failing but it can be due to inumerous things. I'm not sure whether it is due to not being available a new SVU or a Portal Export / Import patchset. I believe not. I've done already a few successful Portal exports / imports in Portal 9.0.4.3. Of course, in later versions of the Portal you'll see quite many neat features coming in (like the SVUs are run as part of the Portal Export / Import).
What I recommend you is to log a Service Request within the Oracle Support and ask them to peek into your testcase. Also I'd supply them the browser Export / Import logs, (with mode=1 - detailed logging) to check on the error and type of object which is failing, and the script and DMP for them to check if they are able to have the same issue (in a clean environment and / or reproduce your problem).
