Failing to buffer video - common problem?

I uploaded a video to CS Review through Premiere CS 5.5 for customer review today. I used the 2 Mbit option, as we are all on at least 20Mbit connections.
However, on the CS Review site the video (12 minutes long approx) is interrupted with the following error ever 10 seconds or so:
Failing to buffer video.
The server is not responding quickly enough to play back this video. Playback will continue when buffering is complete. [UnableToBuffer]
Is this due to lack of bandwidth on the CS Review site (csreview.acrobat.com)? Is this a common problem, or just a temporary situation? Right now the whole CS Review is providing a very sub-par experience for our customers. It seems like a nice idea, but needs to work if we are going to be paying for this come next year.

My client is having the same problem -- but I encoded for the lowest level, the 1 Mbit option. We've been using it for a couple weeks now, reviewing some 20 different timeline segments -- from 3-4 minutes to 30 minutes long. She's getting these buffer messages all the time -- and it's also frequently just freezing up.
Of course, we're not sitting next to our clients -- so we can't tell whether they're clicking the same buttons too many times ... what's going on in their computers ... variations in their server connections ... etc. We're stuck here in a "the customer is always right" situation. We're providing a service to these folks and they don't like it when we waste their time.
But in general -- yeah, this is a super idea -- and lots of things do work well (relatively quick encoding, good image quality, eliminating the need for my client to write down any timecode numbers, being able to print a PDF record of what you're doing, having folder and project options at the CS site). So you're definitely on the right track.
But ... clients find it hard to play the files back and forth. The single-frame back & forth button is useful in some situations -- but clients want to be able to scroll back and forth to find in/out cues, etc. And this part of it is very clunky.
And if there's a glitch, we're not able to help them -- they're stuck. The CS site just does whatever it does, and things grind to a frustrating halt.
Maybe this should be a program you sell us, where we run it from our computers and our own websites. Or maybe it can be run from a faster, more responsive site.
This particular client of mine has given it a really good tryout. But now we're going back to me encoding & uploading files to my own website ... emailing her a link ... having her download the file to her computer, where she can easily play it, scroll back and forth, etc. This is also a clunky, time-consuming solution -- so it's not ideal. But at least we have control over the process and we can fix it when something doesn't work correctly.
I'd love to use the CS site -- I think it's a great idea. Yes, I'd certainly pay for it. I've tried it with a dozen clients for various size projects. It's been OK for a few -- unuseable for others -- clunky and slow for others. Needs more work.
Please fix it -- there's a huge market for this. If the Adobe version doesn't work, someone else will surely offer the same thing -- maybe as a program that we run ourselves.
I'm definitely an Adobe fan and I would love for this thing to work well.

Video on skype not working. Only functioning in facetime and photo booth. Seems to be a common problem amongst users having bought a new macbook air recently. When you go to Preference and click on audio/video item video works but when clicking on another menue and returning to audio/videio picture is gone. Understand has something to do with a recent update von Apple (10.8.5... missing file for 32 bit version).
Anybody there to give me an advice?
    Thanks.

Wait until a fix is available from Apple or Skype.

  • TS1362 I am having trouble playing imported cds.  The tracks keep sticking which is a bit like buffering is this a common problem and can i rectify it.

Being new to the iphone I am having trouble listening to imported cds.  The tracks keep sticking a bit like buffering.  Is this a common problem and can it be solved just by addressing a general buffering problem which I already have on youtube but have not rectified as yet.
    Thanks Kaz T

If <alanfromnewtownards> fix fails to address the issue - turn off iMessage and Facetime in Settings.  Settings\iMessage, and Settings\facetime.
    Sync by cable to iTunes.
Leave cable connected, open Settings\iCloud and ensure at least Mail is on and dsplays your Apple iD email -  then turn iMessage and Facetime back on.  Ensure that in the ISettings...\iMessage...\Facetime page that the Receive at field and Receive video calls at email address is the same address as your Apple I.D.
    Resync when finished.
If still having problems with Facetime then check that the required port is open - allowing traffic in your router.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629
In some cases you may need to turn on Port forwarding and open the port manually to allow traffic through.  See your router documentation for details.
If having problems verifying, open iTunes store App on your pad.  at bottom of page, click on your ID and sign in. Go to your Account details (re-veryfying and answering security questions may be required to do this) - check all details are correct.
Finally right click your device icon in iTunes and select Reset warnings.  resync when finished.

  • Steps to troubleshoot and get past common problems with Audition

When you encounter a problem with Audition, the following steps are often useful for getting past the problem and/or determining the cause of the problem:
    1.  Hold down SHIFT while you launch Audition
This overrides the preference files and launches Audition using the default settings.
    2.  Manually rename or delete the preferences folder
Step 1 only overrides certain preference files, while others such as Workspace preference files, may be the cause of the problem.  Depending on your OS, locate the "5.0" folder in the location below and rename it or delete it.
         Windows XP: C:\Document and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Audition\5.0\
         Windows Vista/7: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\5.0\ *
         Mac OS X: ~\Library\Preferences\Adobe\Audition\5.0\ **
              * "AppData" may be a hidden folder.  You can type it into the location bar, or enable "Show Hidden Files" in Windows.
** This is your user-level Library folder, not the system-level tree.
    3. Check your Audition Log.txt file
To enable a log file with CS 5.5, you must create an empty file in your preferences folder called "Audition Log.txt" using notepad, text edit, or any other editor.  After you create this file, launch Audition and if it fails, open and/or share the log file for more specific information about what's happening.
    4. Check the Operating System console or error log
Both OS X and Windows can track application errors, and if the problem is occurring outside of the application code - a driver conflict, for example - then the OS error report may be more informative than what we can get from the application.
OS X: launch /Applications/Utilities/Console.app   Clear the view, then launch Audition and note any error messages that appear.
Windows: launch Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application then launch Audition and note any error messages that appear.
    5. Re-install Audition
If at this point, nothing has resolved the issue or the error logs are inconclusive, it's a good time to uninstall Audition, reboot, and reinstall Audition.
    6. Obtain the full crash dump and send it to the Adobe team
So you've walked through all the above steps, you've disconnected any external hardware interfaces to rule out any device or driver conflicts, and you've exhausted the basic troubleshooting steps.  Visit http://forums.adobe.com/thread/900619 and follow the steps for your OS that Charles has documented to best obtain a full crash memory dump for Audition, and send that to [email protected] with a description of the problem and the steps you've taken, and we'll take a look.

Firstly yes these are common problems and secondly hopefully they will be fixed with updated software 2.1 which is due for release this coming Firday!

  • MSI K7N2 Delta-ILSR, Mouse problem & Video off problem solved!!!

I find the following information that I collected very interesting at the very least...
    Here goes...
The video off problem that I was having was directly linked to the mouse. Here, let me explain the video off problem. In the BIOS Have the Standby mode set to S3. The problem occurred when I started windows, then went into standby, then started back up, then restarted the computer, the monitor would act as if it were in sleep mode, or rather there was no signal being sent to the monitor. Well the odd way I fixed that is by plugging in a standard 2 button PS/2 mouse. Also this fixed the issue with the mouse sometimes not working in windows.
    Here is how I tested.
    Logitech MX700 Cordless Optical Mouse, PS/2 & USB= failed.
Logitech iFeel Optical Mouse, USB= failed.
Microsoft Cordless Ball Mouse, PS/2= failed.
Standard Artec (Cheapy brand) Ball Mouse (With no wheel), PS/2= All issues fixed, and passed.
When I said failed I do not mean they didn't work, I mean they sometimes didn't work and also caused the Video off problem after restarting the computer.
Obviously it isn't the ports (PS/2 or USB) that are the problem, it is more like the mouse itself, and the amount of buttons in particular. As you can see above the only mouse that works correctly is the one that only has 2 buttons, the rest has 3 or more buttons along with a Wheel. The MX700 has 8 buttons + wheel, WOW!
Anyways I figure out it was the mouse, and not the memory.
Obviously MSI needs to make a patch for this mouse problem.
I'm still having a hard time believing that the mouse caused the video not to work, but it is true! I spend well over 5 hours testing this crap. Every time with the mice with more then 3 buttons it messed up, and every time with the 2 button old fashion mouse it worked flawlessly!
MSI, get to work on a new BIOS to fix this mess!!!  :]

LOL, that isn't what I'm talking about.
There seems to be a problem with my motherboard accepting mice with more then 2 buttons. It works the first time, but if you restart the computer, the video goes off. If you have both installed, it still messed up.

  • IPod Video Known Problems?

    Hi all,
I've had a series of issues with my iPod Photo that have caused me to return it in favour of an iPod video. However, I am a little disenchanted with iPod and want to be fully informed before swapping products.
What are COMMON PROBLEMS with the iPod video, and what should I be aware of?
Also, what kind of videos does it play?
    Windows XP

Thanks! I know that by posting here, the replies will be biased, but that's okay. I really do want to hear the horror stories, because I've had one with my current iPod.
Some 60GB iPods with video have video playback
problems. This should be resolved by a software
    update in the future.
Could you elaborate on this? It sort of raises red flags in my mind.
I saw the stats on the video playback but appreciate that you have posted them, although perhaps I should have been more clear in my question.
What about ripped/downloaded videos? (Or does it not matter, so long as they are in the correct format?)

  • Adobe Media Server failing to record video if switched from play to record midstream

The Adobe Media Server is failing to record video if switched from play to record midstream. It is an intermittent issue that happens randomly one out of every 30 attempts.
Flash Runtime: Flash Player ActiveX 11.7.700.169 or Flash Player ActiveX 11.4.402.287
    Media Server: AMS5.0.1, also FMS4.5.5
(The problem happens on both FMS4.5.5 and AMS5.0.1)
    The ActionScript is as follows:
    netstreamRoger.publish("719_Client","play");
    Then 1 second later:
    netstreamRoger.publish("719_Client","record");
netstreamRoger is streaming out the video and audio data correctly, because there is another computer playing the stream 719_Client live. So the media server is forwarding the stream correctly when live. The bug is when you attempt to playback 719_Client.flv the file does not contain any video data. The file size is not zero, and the file is not corrupted, but the file size is smaller than it would be if it had saved the video in it.
How do I submit this bug to the Media Server team, and how can I workaround this issue?
Below is the log from the Media Server 5.0.1

  • Dirt behind LCD screen - common problem ?

Hi, I recently bought a toshiba EQUIUM A60-181 and I'm
experiencing a problem concerning the LCD screen.
There appears to be a defect or dirt behind the glass
because it's blocking light from a pixel. Any attempts at
apply moderate pressure to move this dirt has failed. I was
wondering if it's common with LCDs to expect some kind
of imperfection I cannot believe this has passed quality
control. Do i have justification for having it sent back
to toshiba for fixing it's only just 1 week old ??
I've read the warranty booklet and there's no mention of
dead pixel return policy can anyone elborate on what is
and what is not covered by the warranty ??
    cheers,
    Richard.

I've emailed Toshiba technical support to see where I
stand with regards to my problem. Having discussed this
issue with friends on IRC it appears I may actually have
something called a dead pixel. This is suppose to be quite
a common problem and some manufacturers can actually sell
you laptops with defected LCD screens which to me is criminal.
Ive searched the entire Toshiba website with the regards
to dead pixel cover policy or what the warranty does and
does not cover. I understand that to replace the screen is
gonna cost Toshiba loads of money but I would have never
bought this laptop if I have been warned that it may
contain defects in the screen. I can tolerate most things
like noisy fans harddrives and scratches but not problems
with the screen especially one thats brand new.
    cheers,
    Richard.

  • Intermittent loss of sound (not the video/sound problem)

    Hi -
I just got my third ipod (30G ipod with video) two days ago and I've encountered an issue.
Twice so far, after pausing my ipod for 10-15 minutes and then going to resume, I have lost all sound output. The first time it happened, the ipod showed progress in the song - but the second time, although the icon showed that it was playing, there was no movement in the progress bar.
All menu functions work properly and promptly - it's not just a freeze. I tried four different sets of headphones, all with the same result. The only thing I have not yet determined is whether the problem appears when the ipod is docked and audio is not going through the headphone port.
A reset seemed to resolve the problem, but I don't much relish the idea of having to reset the thing every day, especially when I have a 4G color that has NEVER had to be reset. This happens in regular audio mode (I know an issue exists with sound and video synchronization, but that hasn't been my problem).
I am considering rolling the firmware back to 1.0, but I am wondering if the problem might not be either related to the hard disk or even the headphone jack itself (each time the problem manifests, it has been after headphones were removed and later replaced.)
Any ideas, or is this a known issue? A quick search here and at ilounge yielded mostly discussions about the video sync problem. Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks!

Finally... someone with nearly the same problem as I'm having with my 30G 5G ipod. You can read about it here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1868779
    and here:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1930370
I say nearly because my problem doesn't exhibit itself every time or I would have taken it to the Apple store and showed them. But this problem of yours sounds alot like mine. I used to think it was related to charging it hence the title on my first thread. But now I too think it's related to the ear plug jack. There is something about the sensor in it and the fact that it is a plug that has like 3 or 4 outputs, I wonder if the seating of the plug has to be right or it shorts out something just enough to screw up the audio. My second thread suggests my problem is related to the case I use which has material around the hole but not covering it. You insert thru the hole in the case and into the hole in the jack. The seating may not be 100% which may cause issues. You didn't mention a case...does yours have one?
Like you, I too had to soft reset the ipod to get it out of this wierd mode. Someone else suggested that when it happens turn off the ipod, pull out the plug, then re-plug it in, turn on the ipod. I have lately found that most of the time if I just unplug and replug the jack it clears the problem. I haven't had it fail enough times to see if this solution will fail or not. See if it helps your situation.
Let me know about the case question.

  • Ichat failed to start video because..... not responded

    Hi
I managed to fix this problem the last time simply by trashing com.apple.ichat.plist and com.apple.ichat.AIM.plis, you can see that discussion under this thread: "geetting error -8"
For the last year, I have switched to skype but now i have some new ichat buddies who don't want to use skype. Unfortunately it doesn't work again.
I get the "ichat failed to start video because..... not responded" problem again
I use SpeedTouch 585i v6... and i have read all the old posts about unbinding SIP etc. but I don't really have access to my router since it has been provided by the ISP, and I don't now the passward and user name to the router.
Anyhow has apple gotten any smarter about solutions to this problem?
    Thanks for your time,
    Kevin

    Hi Crowncrow,
Same instructions but change unbind to bind
As the page says it can be difficult to completely unbind the version 5 and upwards devices.
In theory the IP phone can be off one ethernet port and the computer another on the Alcatel.
The binding presumes only one device is going to be doing SIP/VoIP so the binding says it will keep SIP to port 5060
In practice these devices and some adapters strip out all the SIP data even if it is not addressed to the Phone.
As the device can be re-set I would try unbinding it and see if it helps.
Unfortunately there has not been much success with version 5 or 6 firmware anyway and it may not help.

  • Flas 8 video encoder problem

I have the encoder installed on two machines. On one machine
it won't run because it can't install itself it says which seems to
be a fairly common problem. On my other machine it does run!!!!
<G> Anyway, I have tried encoding 7 different wmv files and
they all successfully encode (at least I don't get any errors. When
I try to play them on my machine the flash player starts up but all
I get is a white screen with no movie. Anywone have any
    thoughts?

common problem, happens with perfectly set up application,
    regardless DEMO or
    off the CD.
I and up getting ZIP of the encoder from a friend because
    multiple unistall, reinstall
    did not help.
Happen second time on my laptop, I got fed up and try to fix
    it, can't reproduce the steps
but basically I remove QT player and Flash 8. Reinstall QT
first, than Follow by flash 8.
Tried that 4 or 5 times and eventually it start to work.
You can always use it from the program, it works within flash
File - import - import video
than pick the video and go to Progress Download From the
    server.
Flash will generated the FLV automatically.

  • MacPro Early 2008 Display/Video Card Problem

*Hello, I have a Dual Quad-Core 2.8Ghz MacPro (Early 2008) with the stock ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB Video Card. I believe I am having the exact same symptoms listed on the topic "Mac Pro 2008 Video Card Problem".*
*MacPro has been working fine. Until one day, I power it on and the display stays black. There is nothing you can do besides holding down the power button and rebooting the computer. I have tried to do this many times and the display will not come up. I have also tried resetting the VRAM and PRAM settings - still did not work. I have had my MacPro for about one year and a half. It is in very good condition (no damage/no liquid/no overheating). From time to time, you power on the computer and the display works! It is very random. I am scared to turn off the computer or put it to sleep as this can also trigger the problem.*
*I did not get the extended AppleCare (the MacPro itself already cost me about $3400!) I tested the Cinema Display and it is fine, therefore the problem is not coming from the display.*
*I went to the Apple Store and they kept my MacPro for one night. Called me the next day telling me it was going to cost me approximately $800 in order to fix this problem. They claimed that either my Bluetooth module or my Main Logic Board was causing the display not to show. I am out of warranty, and I think it is very expensive. I am doing my research online in order to try and find a cheaper solution. After reading the discussions and checking out some other websites. I have a few questions:*
*If I buy a NEW* ATI Radeon HD 2600 and install it in my MacPro - will it fix my problem?*
*OR - I also heard about the ATI Radeon HD 4870 - Is that graphic card compatible with my MacPro - will that resolve the problem?*
*Do you think I should give it a shot? Are there any other things I can try?*
*I am thinking that I should try to replace the graphic card first and see if that is causing the problem instead of replacing the Main Logic Board right away (which will cost me over $500)*
*Please let me know of any thoughts that come in mind. I really need some support. I am a college student studying Audio Engineering and I use my MacPro everyday on Pro Tools and Logic. This machine is my life.*
    *Thank You,*
    *Kevin C.*

Glad you solved your problem Gaunja. Here's an update on my own.
When last heard from I had diagnosed the failure of my displays to boot up to graphics card problem in my early 2008 Mac Pro with my stock ATI Radeon HD 2600 by swapping out the same card from my son's Mac Pro and seeing the displays boot up fine. Before heading off to the Apple store for a new card I reinstalled my suspect video card just to see what would happen. The displays booted up fine. Now, two weeks later, again no video display--black screens--no signal from the graphics card. I rebooted the computer several times to no avail and was, again, about to head off to the Apple store for a new card. This time "just to see what would happen" I moved the graphics card to another slot and bingo, the displays are up. What can be determined from my experience to date?
    1. The graphics card is flirting with death. Like a patient unwilling to die, through a mysterious force, it rallies to live another day.
    2. The slot the card came installed in is unreliable--it's dirty, there's a spec of dust in there, a contact has degraded after two years, or some other slot related fault. Note that, until the card failed for the first time, it had never been removed from it's slot, the computer was treated gently, and it operated in a very clean environment.
If anyone has another theory about what may be happening here please feel free. I fully expect the displays to go dark again at some point as my suspicions are that it's the card itself that is the problem. The two replacement cards I'm considering are the ATI Radeon HD 4870 or the Nividia Geo Force GT120. I've read that both work with the early Mac Pros. Some complain that the ATI card is noisy and expensive. Based of Gaunja's post and others I think the Nividia card will suit my needs, be quieter, and cost less. But, for now, my stock ATI Radeon 2600 lives!
Just one man's experience with the "Mac Pro display, black screen" problem.

  • T60p XP video driver problems

    Hi,
Just had to reformat and reinstall my T60p, and have put XP SP3 and the lenovo ATI video driver v8.533 on. Since then, I've had intermittent video redraw problems - parts of windows not being redrawn when minimising / maximising. Seems to affect all applications, and there's very little else installed other than a couple of portable apps.
It seems that sometimes the video performance is really really bad - windows leaving trails behind them when being dragged across the screen, just like an unaccelerated video driver would. And various rectangles of windows failing to be redrawn completely.
But sometimes, its working fine - I can't see a pattern to it (yet). I've tried reinstalling the driver from a fresh download, and I've tried disabling acceleration in the troubleshooting section of display properties, with no effect. And there doesn't seem to be anything in CCC which helps, but for info, here's what it says:

Anybody got any ideas? Are there any later drivers available? I wonder if its related to the screen rotation fix for SP3?
    Thanks,
    Dave.

Yes, that's the link I got the video driver from.
I tried downloading the bios flash utility from your link anyway, but it said I already had the latest version (which is what I thought), and didn't need to update. I confirmed this by booting into the bios config screen, and it definitely displays ...3WW there. I must admit I had assumed the bios details from CCC were for the GPU bios, not the machine's bios. But I couldn't find any references to updating the GPU bios.
To confirm, here's the full output from the System Info button within CCC, which displays the machine's bios details:
