Failing to update firmware

I own two Iomega ix2 NAS devices that were purchased together. I have been attempting to update the firmware in both. In one device, I have not had any problems.
The other device, which currently has firmware version 4.0.6.192194, I consistently get an "" error message whenever I try to install firmware version 4.1.106.31982.
I feel confident that the firmware file is not corrupt since I was able to successfully install the same file on the second ix2 device.
The S/N of the troublesome device is significantly different (part numbers are identical, however). So I am suspicious that the device is not exactly what it claims to be.
The S/N of the device failing to update is: LTA2310094
The S/N of the device which updated successfully is: LTA3021430

There are varying causes for this issue. I do recommend contacting Lenovo Support for the issue when you are able to.
I have some recommendations you can try though.
1. If you have not already tried, please restart the unit via the web interface under system status or power the unit off/on using the power button on the rear of the unit.
2. This shouldn't be an issue, but some browsers can have conflicts with devices. You may want to try a different browser to try uploading and applying the update.
3. If the issue is due to a disk fault, swapping the internal disks to opposite bays while powered off might allow you to complete the firmware update after booting.

Fails to update Firmware

I have bought my Ipod recently (60 GB), the guy that brought to me, installed the ipod from a MAC. I have a PC with XP, so I have to reformat. The first time I did so, everything was fine until I tried to add music. It failed, when I tried to recover... I could make it work, so I decided to reformat again. The problem is that I have reinstalled the software many times, used the Updater 2006-01-10 and sometimes the ipod is not recognized, sometimes it says that software is not the proper one for the ipod.
Hope to hear some good advice, as I need to solve this issue ASSAP, as i am travelling soon...

In the meantime I managed upload from pc: When trying the ..10th time it worked. Now I wait, wether in the future automatic update will work. Is there a way to know this beforehand from e.g. the logs?

Hi,
Is the printer connected via USB or through the Wireless network?
If you may use a wireless network connection be sure to temporarly plug a USB for the update as listed on the update instructions:

Sony A7 failed to turn on after updating firmware 2.00

As i mentioned, my Sony A7 failed to turn on after updating firmware 2.00. It just appear a blank screen after click the finished button on the updating app on Mac. I waited for more than an hour and there is still no thing happened.

I bought the Sony A7II a few days ago. It initially charged just fine, but today I tried to charge it using the cable with an electrical outlet as well as the USB to computer. Neither one would get the charge light to illuminate. Not feeling the love Sony. I just purchased a Flash, wrist belt, filters, etc... I'm definitely not happy. It seems this is a problem!

WRT610N FIRMWARE UPDATEING V1 to V2 FIX HOWTO NO MORE FAIL TO UPDATE

I SPENT WAY TO MUCH TIME FIGHTING WITH MY ROUTER AND I FINALLY GOT THROUGH TO THE ONE PERSON THAT SPOKE ENGLISH AT CISCO SUPPORT. IT WAS A SIMPLE FIX AND HERE IT IS (but not before they told me that my router which was less then a year old was broken and I would have to buy a new one.) I can't believe no one else has posted this.
In actuality it is a browser problem that causes the FAILED TO UPDATE screen usually at 20 - 30% and sometimes goes to 98% and never completes.
Do this to get it to go.
1) Download the latest firmware and save it somewhere on your computer (I suggest desktop)
1b) if you have the storage unit make sure you disconnect the USB drive before you do these following steps.
2) go to the downloads area and select support for the WRK54G on the US SITE (yes I know that is the wrong router).
3) goto downloads and select V1
4) download the utility (http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/firmware/1224638358976/WRK54G_V1.55.02_UpgradeUtility_fw.exe)
5) run the program, enter the IP of your router and select the firmware
6) let it run and update the bios - this should avoid any of the stupid browser error outs and you should be able to go on your merry way.
I can't believe that I'm the only person that went through this problem. Having the irritating AWARD WINNING crap pumped in your ear while you wait for the almost useless help support just adds insult to industry. Who the hell would give them an award for hardly speaking english?

Same problem. Have no idea what to do. i hoped this release would help all of my problems with this creapy router. love all my linksys routers but this one and its even the most expensive one!
well i never get over 20% before i get the failed message :/
oh and btw, tried your solution from both windows 7 and windows 2003 server (homeserver)
but no good

Tsclient drive redirection fails after wrt54g firmware update

Recently updated firmware on WRT54g wireless router. Ever since am unable to redirect drives in rdp client session to 2003TS. The drives show up as "system folder" on the server, no drive letters visible, not accessible.
This happens with all PC's on my home network. If I shut down my wireless router and poach a neighbors connection using my laptop the drive redirection works as before.
Any ideas?

Are you able to access the drive before upgrading the firmware ?
If yes, reset the router as it is recommended by Linksys that you should reset and reconfigure the router after resetting .
Press and hold the reset for 30 seconds .
Power cycle the router and modem .
Open the setup page of the router and configure it again .

OK, so the firmware is the same as mine, and yet Apple Support offered this EFI and SMC update packages, which should give a message that our computers are updated.
However, the update packages fail to run.
Did Apple neglect to give the correct update for the mid-2012 issue of MacBook Pro 13-inch? I have the i7 Intel processor, instead of the i5, and I was sold this unit as having two processors, but the System info only lists a single processor.
Is one of the problems with Intel-based MacBook Pro units that the integration wasn't without bugs that cause processor hang when running the OS Lion, even with updates to 10.7.5?
Shouldn't the EFI and SMC updaters run on these machines as stated in the Apple Support article?
What will Apple do for these customers?

I am trying to update firmware on my canon printer MG5320 to be able to use the airprint feature but in doesn't recognize the printer being plugged in via USB cable. I have tried restarting the macbook, turning on and off the printer, repairing permissions, deleting and redownloading the update what else can I do? The prinyrt works fine otherwise...

If there are no drivers for Yosemite you might be in trouble.. HP will tend not to support printers once they are EOL.
Getting it running over wireless rather than USB might be worthwhile.

ZiiO7 fails to update to 1.00.28

My ZiiO7 is running on .00.3 (purchased 2 days ago). I downloaded?ZiiO7_fwupd__00_3to_00_28.apk from the Creative suport site and copied it to the ZiiO7.
It says?"Parse Error - There is a problem parsing the package" whenever i try to launch the apk from ZiiExplorer.
What could be wrong with the update? or ZiiO7 itself?

I think you are referring to version .00.27. There is no such thing as .00.07 as far as I know. The .00.28 firmware update is intended only for .00.3 (the earlier batch). Please refer to kok choy's post on this thread. Welcome on board!

I know lots of peopl are having the same problem. I have a Zen Micro 5Gb. I have previously updated the firmware to the plays for sure (about 2 years ago) and it's been fine.
The device had had the hard dri've replaced after it failed, and I need to reload the firmware. I have all the files, I've read all the FAQ and support I used last time (I keep everything) and my notes from 2 years ago say it was easy.
However. Not now. I figure WMP caused a lot of problems. Right - got that out the way. Fresh installs of XP SP2 is the way to go.

But, I keep going round in circles. Can't update firmware without driver, can't update driver without firmware.
Any driver install I try asks me to connect the device to complete the installation, but, it won't recognise the device because there is no firmware. I try to upload the firmware, and it says there is no device (because there is no driver).
I have tried multiple machines, with SP2 installed and only WMP9 (never had WMP0).
I have tried USB , 2, hubs, front ports back ports, again on multiple machines.
I've even used an XP install on VMware on a MAC (This was the closest to success).
On the Mac, The player was recognised even in its flash problem state and I could actually start the firmware update. However, it failed to complete successfully.
Has anyone actually managed to do a firmware update on n old Zen using a 2008 PC? Please help!

If your player had PlaysForSure firmware, you'll need to download a PlaysForSure firmware version. That should resolve your issues since PlaysForSure does not use a Creative driver but rather a nati've Windows driver. But you will need to have WMP0 installed, WMP9 does not support PlaysForSure.

Apple TV Fails to update

Hi All.
I have just purchased a used Apple TV that was reported as fully working however it fails to update. I have been searching forums all evening looking for answers with none working. I have run the diagnostics which it reports is all OK, I have done a full factory reset which has put the firmware now back to 1.0 however it still wont update.
I have tried using both wireless and wired networks, having the device connected via component and HDMI (cant imagine that it would make a difference but at desperate times eh!)
Please can someone offer a glimour of hope for this purchase.

As long as it's in good working order and it has a good network connection, the updater should work. If you can get movie trailers, you have a network connection. If not, make sure your router is allowing traffic on the required ports for the ATV.
