Failling to Dual partition installation

Dear TechNet win10 preview,
I have downloaded windows 10 technical preview 3.92 GB United States (English) version from Microsoft as ISO file make its DVD
flash drive image & Auto run setup.exe file. but, while installing, it doesn't ask me for custom installation. I have window 7 home basic OS. what to do now? cause I want both OS on different drive. I have one 97 GB free unallocated drive too.

Dual partitioning questions.

Ok, well im pretty clueless when it comes to certain things with computers. In this case its dual partitioning. Ive looked around the internet and figured out how to do it (sort of) but im still fairly uncertain of the consequences so i have a few questions.
1. Whats the best way to dual partition if i want to have windows XP installed to be able to use .exe files, bootcamp?
2.When dual partitioning what exactly is halfed? If i was to dual partition would my mac perform as well or would it use half RAM on each partition etc?
3.Can you choose how much to partition? or does it have to be half and half.
4.What disc do i need exactly for it, will it be the windows XP installation disk? (any links to where i can get one would be great!)
5.Can you undo a dual partitioning? If so, how?
6.Is this the best way to be able to use .exe files and play windows based games etc.
7.Will i only need an XP disk and bootcamp?

My3rs,
I think you are making it much more complex than need be. If you want to Run Windows XP (or any other supported version of Windows for that matter) using Bootcamp when you run Bootcamp Assistant to set it up Bootcamp will partition your internal drive for you, all you need to do is choose how much space you want to dedicate to MS Windows.
You will need an original Windows XP license (Home or Professional) to install as that is a Microsoft product and you will be using their software. As far as I know it's not downloadable and because it's so old finding a new commercial disc of XP may be tough, I would think EBay would be the best bet if you don't already own a license. My recommendation would be to purchase Windows 7 from any computer retailer.

How to restart Java Engine in ABAP+JAVA dual stack installation ?

if i use stopsap r3 in this dual stack installation - it stops both ABAP & JAVA Web Application Servers.
I want to restart only JAVA Weba pplication server.
How do it ?

But theoritically they are 2 indpeendent installations like
AS ABAP
AS JAVA
..Do you aggree ?? really am not good on basics!!
During the installation also - if select AS ABAP & AS JAVA - it will become dual installation
and it does not show

Is it because if AS ABAP is down - AS JAVA UME is 001 client - and Java authentication fails ?
Can we de attatch from ABAP UME for my requirement like - running JAVA WAS alone w/o ABAP.

Could anyone let me know if SAP PO 7.4 is a dual stack installation or can we go for single stack as well.
As PI 7.4 is based on HANA , so while working on it shall we use ICO or old classic configuration. Shall we go for java based adapters(eg IDOC_AAE/HTTP_AAE) or old abap based adapter..

Removing J2EE stack from dual-stack installation

Hello.
Does anyone know if it's possible to remove the JAVA-stack from a ERP6.0 dual-stack installation ?
We have a ERP 6.0 system running HCM services. The ERP system is installed as dual-stack, but the JAVA-stack is not in use as we also installed a separate NW 7.0 JAVA system hosting portal and java hcm services.

Yes, you can drop Java part from existing dual stack system.
1) Stop cenrtal service instance and all dialog instances of your system.
2) Also, stop J2ee engine of CI from SMICM.
3) Hash out all Java parameters in your default and instance profile (like j2ee, exe/j2ee, exe/jlaunch, jstartup etc.)
4) Delete central service instance.
5) Delete Database schema
6) Delete directories (/usr/sap/<SAPSID>/DVEBMGS<xx>/SDM and /usr/sap/<SAPSID>/DVEBMGS<xx>/j2ee)

how is it possible to restart or start only the j2ee-engine in a dual stack installation. We have a JAVA- and a ABAP-Stack and want only restart the JAVA-Stack. In windows i can use the MMC of SAP but how is it possible in UNIX.

i konw this TR, it doesn't work. There are two possibilities:
restart j2ee-local
restart j2ee-global
we try it with j2ee-local because we use a dual stack installation. What could be the problem. Is there an other possibility? How can i restart the j2ee-engine directly on my unix machine?

Dual-Host installation problem

Hi all.
I have two ITS server (6.20, pl.14): one server with two single-host installation (HRP and RCP istances) and one dual-host installation with agate component (ITZ istances); the other server contain the wgate dual-host installation (ITZ istances).
Single-host istances work correctly. The dual-host istance do not work correctly because the wgate (in dmz) call another agate, do not call the ITZ istances.
I think that during the istallation a wrong agate istances has been set.
How I can undestand which is the wgate component that can call tha agete component with ITZ istances? Because in the folder 'config', in the xml file, I'm able to undestand only for single-host istances.

If I understand your question correctly, you're just trying to figure out where to set up the connection between the AGate and WGate.
On the WGate, under the \program files\sap\its\6.20\config\ItsRegistryWGATE.xml there is a section called "Instances". For the AGate section, you should put in the information of the AGate server for Host, PortAGate and PortMManager. These ports will be numeric values (39xx) and can be found on the AGate in the \windows\system 32\drivers\etc\services file.
Restart the WGate and you should be good to go.

Failed Dual Boot Installation

I tried to install Linux (Stormy) on to my external hard drive to dual boot for engineering/programming purposes. I did not delete or write over anything on my hard drive, it was all installed onto the external. The Linux installation failed and now the computer won't boot OSX at all. I tried to put the installation disk in (for the utilities, not to write over all my stuff) and it finds the hard drive, but it won't let me look at it or do anything with it. I would really like to be able to either restore to what I had before the failed installation or just get back my documents and pictures even if I have to reinstall most of my programs. What do I need to do?

Did you use bootcamp? If so unless you specifically chose to install Linux on the internal drive, your OS X installation should be completely safe. Also when you say Linux installation failed - when and where exactly? What was the error message if any? (Like during Bootloader install for example?)
Can you post a screen shot of what the Disk Utility says about both your drives (internal and external)? That way we will be able to tell if you (by mistake) installed Linux on your internal drive and/or what the partition map looks like on the internal drive.

NW2004s: SPS installation for dual-Stack-Installation (Java/ABAP) - PI(XI)

we want to apply a new SP stack to a NW2004s (ECC 6.0) - dual stack (Java/ABAP) with PI(XI).
The ABAP stack is sucessfully patched yet,
but the Java stack needs still to be patched!
In the SPS guide for SPS 9 and some OSS notes you can read that during the patching of the Java stack, the whole system (ABAP and Java engine) are restarted several times. But the JSPM should ask you before the restart.
Do you have experiences how long the patching of the Java stack will take (downtime)?
How often needs the system to be restarted?
Is it possible to work with the ABAP engine (ABAP development, etc.) during the installation of the Java SPS with JSPM until the system needs to be restarted?
How is it possible to minimize the downtime of the system during the Java SPS installation?

I believe this is most highly dependent on the hardware. Although some patches will deploy more objects than others, the deploy time is shorter on better/faster hardware. I applied SP9 on my laptop PC (java only, no ABAP stack) and it took a few hours total -- including my processing and error correcting time. My laptop has only 2 GB RAM so this process was greatly slowed by the amount of available memory (I was running other applications, like Outlook, etc.) resulting in a lot of disk swapping.

Again, I have a java only installation, no ABAP, but I believe there was only 1-2 system restarts. The system had to be restarted after the application of the java kernel part of the patch, then shutdown and restarted again for the offline deployment phase. I cannot remember if there was a restart after the online deployment phase.

Yes.

I think the best way is to have the best hardware! Also, be sure to be thoroughly prepared by reading the guide, all of the Notes, etc. I was slowed by a previously correctable error (my administrator password had been previously changed and I had not changed it in the secure store -- Note 701654).

Problem to reboot to windows 7 after dual OS installation

I had windows 7 installed on my PC with 3 partitions (System, C, S). I created one more partition and installed Windows Server 2008 OS for testing as dual boot. After that I logged into Windows server 2008 OS from dual boot menu and created one more partition,
suddenly the primary lebel of all the partition went.
Now I am able to boot to Windows server 2008 OS from dual boot menu, but when I select Windows 7 my system reboots again and again.
I have tried to repair win 7 OS, but failed. I have noticed in the repair mode, when OS selection for repair prompt comes the Windows 7 partition is showing as 0 bit.
How can I recover both OS i.e. Win 7 and Win Server 2008.

The problem you described is the
MBR is corrupted, in this case, I suggest to fix the MBR with a command.
Restart your computer and boot from the DVD, this time, do not choose an auto repair, instead, open the System Recovery Options dialog box, click Command Prompt.
Type Bootrec.exe, and then press Enter.
The input the command below to fix this:
bootrec /FixMbr
bootrec /RebuildBcd

Dual Boot Installation

Hi,
I have windows 7 installed on my computer, i have created some un partitioned space to install OELR5 64 bit, i have created installation CDs, but I cannot run setup from within windows 7, however if I reboot system installation starts. I doubt installing this way may make windows 7 nuaccessible? What should I do to keep windows intact and install OEL as well.

Installing iTunes on Dual Partition?

Hi All, I am new and have a question please. I have just bought an Asus laptop. It came with a 320GB HD that is partitioned into 2 partitions of 74.5GB(C partition) and 204GB (D partition). I would like to install all of iTunes on the larger partition(D). When I installed iTunes, it installed on the D drive ok, but put the location where it stores the music, videos, apps etc... on the C partition. Is there a way that I can make it all install on the D partition? I want the music and all on the larger partition.

SSO Configuration : Dual Stack Installation with same SID

We upgraded our BW system to 2004s with Java add-in installation. We used same SID for ABAP and Java stacks. I could not find a good document to configure SSO between ABAP and JAVA with same SID installation. I would appreciate if you can provide a link to the document or give me sequence of steps to be executed.

We are done with upgrade. Currently we are using SSO with UIDPW. I would like to configure SSO using certificates..
If I remember correctly instguides suggest to run template installer. I did use template installer but it fails in some steps as we have same SID for ABAP and Java. I manually configured all the steps using instructions from " SAP Nw2004s BEx WEb System Landscapes" published by Tobias Kaugmann. Still no luck.

7].tar files and product of their expansion: directories such as
orainst, plsql, jdbc etc.
Second drive (hdc1) mount point /u01 is empty but I want install
oracle 8.0.5 as well small sample database on it.
I set env variables and I've done everything up to the point
when I am supposed to run ./orainst.
How to "tell" orainst to place the above mentioned installation
on my second drive (hdc1).

Once you start the "./orainst", it will ask where ORACLE_BASE and
where ORACLE_HOME will reside. At this point you can tell it to
put it on your second hard drive. Before you do this however,
you will need to create the directory structure and make it rwx
by oracle or whatever account is going to own the directory
structure.
