Failover 520 PIX , Primary loses communication with secondary

I have 520 PIX running in failover fashion using a Serial cable for failover heartbeat. Primary loses communication with secondary for no obvious reason and it gives a jerk on LAN for connectivity. When I boot primary first and then secondary, I can see that status on primary for failover is normal. After sometime, maybe like an hour or two hours later, somehow primary loses communication with secondary and in the process, it stops responding on LAN for 15-30 seconds. After this, th status for secondary on show failover command changes to testing and it stays as testing. This thing is happening on both boxes regardless which ever I make primary. I see the cable status as normal on both firewalls. What could be the reason for losing communication within two fireboxes. I am thinking to replace the serial cable with a new cable. I will appreciate if anyone can give me suggestions for troubleshooting this problem. Thanks.

Hi,
Any syslog messages that you can capture may be helpfull. What does the show cpu usage says on the pix? Is there any network infrastructure change that you made? When the PIX looses connection to the secondary, what does both the pixen show? which one stays active, or if both of them becomes active?
Thanks
Nadeem

  • FP loses communication to host without triggering watchdogs

FP loses communication with host. Problem does not seem to be picked up by watchdogs (which have been tested by removing ethernet cable and found to work correctly). Programme worked fine for 2 months without incident. It may be coincidental but problem appears to happen during the early mornings (4 - 6am) when external temperatures are around 3 degrees C. Simply powering off and on the FP seems to return operation to normal.

    Hello,
There are no known issues with the FP-2010 and low temperature. You should be able to communicate with the module from -25C to 55C. If possible, I recommend that you test the controller in an environment has a constant temperature to try to determine if temperature is the main cause of this issue. It is possible that the module has become damaged internally and now is susceptible to temperature.
The other thing you may want to try doing is reinstalling the real-time software on the FP-2010. This may help alleviate a software error that may be causing this problem. To do this, right-click on the Software folder that appears under your FP-2010 in Measurement and Automation Explorer and click Install Software.

  • Error encountered while communicating with primary IP-address

    Hi
I have recently deployed my first Exchange Server. This is an Exchange Server 2013 Standard and I set up everything using this document on Technet for installation: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124778(v=exchg.150).aspx
For post-installation I used this document on Technet: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124397(v=exchg.150).aspx
I have setup access to port 25, 587, 143, 993, 110, 995, 80, 443 in my routers SPI-firewall and created DNAT rules for each of these ports as well. I can send mail without any issues, but I cannot receive. Reverse DNS is working both internally and externally.
I can telnet to port 25 on my external IP and external domain which is exchange.mydomain.tld
    My Exchange-server is running inside a Gen1 Hyper-V virtual machine on a Windows Server 2012 R2.
My Exchange Server has the following resources:
    OS: Windows Server 2012 R2
    CPU: 2 cores of AMD FX-6120 3.30GHz
    RAM: 3584MB
HDD1: IDE 80GB VHDX - is currently used for all system files and for Exchange.
HDD2: SCSI 127GB VHDX - will be used for Exchange DB and logs when everything is working.
When sending mail from any internal or external e-mail address to an internal e-mail address I get the following error in Exchange Queue Viewer:
"451 4.4.0 Error encountered while communicating with primary target IP address:"421 4.2.1 Unable to connect." Attempted failover to alternate host, but that did not succeed. Either there are no alternate hosts, or delivery failed to all alternate
    hosts. The Last"
How can I solve this issue? If you need any more information please let me know and I will see if I can find it.

Hi I have now tried to send mail to an internal address using telnet. This returned the following value:
    250 2.6.0 <[email protected]> [InternalId=1971389988866] Queued mail for delivery
Next I tried to send to an external mail by using telnet and it returned this result when adding the reciepient:

  • Can we assign 2 IPs for a SCCM 2012 primary site server and use 1 IP for communicating with its 2 DPs and 2nd one for communicating with its upper hierarchy CAS which is in a different .Domain

    Hi,
Can we assign 2 IPs for a SCCM 2012 primary site server and use 1 Ip for communicating with its 2 DPs and 2nd one for communicating with its upper hierarchy CAS . ?
Scenario: We are building 1 SCCM 2012 primary site and 2 DPs in one domain . In future this will attach to a CAS server which is in different domain. Can we assign  2 IPs in Primary site server , one IP will use to communicate with its 2 DPs and second
IP for communicating with the CAS server which is in a different domain.?
    Details:
    1)Server : Windows 2012 R2 Std , VM environment .2) SCCM : SCCM 2012 R2 .3)SQL: SQL 2012 Std
    Thanks
    Rajesh Vasudevan

First, it's not possible. You cannot attach a primary site to an existing CAS.
Primary sites in 2012 are *not* the same as primary sites in 2007 and a CAS is 2012 is completely different from a central primary site in 2007.
CASes cannot manage clients. Also, primary sites are *not* used for delegation in 2012. As Torsten points out, multiple primary sites are used for scale-out (in terms of client count) only. Placing primary sites for different organizational units provides
no functional differences but does add complexity, latency, and additional failure points.
Thus, as the others have pointed out, your premise for doing this is completely incorrect. What are your actual business goals?
As for the IP Addressing, that depends upon your networking infrastructure. There is no way to configure ConfigMgr to use different interfaces for different types of traffic. You could potentially manipulate the routing tables in Windows but that's asking
    for trouble IMO.

  • ACS loses connection with AD occasionally after upgrade from 5.2 to 5.3.0.40

ACS had been integrated with Active Directory before ACS upgrade to 5.3. After the ACS 5.3 upgrade users aren’t able to login to AAA devices occasionally. Error message is:
    {AuthenticationResult=Error; Type=Authentication; Authen-Reply-Status=Error; }
24429 Could not establish connection with Active Directory
At the same time, when this issue occurs, ACS connection to AD works fine (checked with Users and Identity Stores> External Identity Stores > Active Directory “Test Connection”)

I had the same problem, I opened a Cisco TAC case and my issue was resolved.

    Hi Ramraj,
Thanks for the link to the article, but from what I’ve seen in the logs I’m not sure that we’ve got the same root cause to the issue.
From the ACSADAgent.log files I can see log messages like:
    Aug 11 11:10:56 CSSC-TPM-DC-ACS-1 adclient[5524]: DEBUG network.state NST: SniffList: postfailsort=mykulad11p.cssc.dksh.net

Aug 11 11:10:56 CSSC-TPM-DC-ACS-1 adclient[5524]: DEBUG base.osutil Module=Kerberos : KDC refused skey: KDC has no support for encryption type (reference base/adhelpers.cpp:216 rc: -1765328370)
Aug 11 11:10:56 CSSC-TPM-DC-ACS-1 adclient[5524]: DEBUG base.adagent Unable to refresh computer credentials: KDC refused skey: KDC has no support for encryption type
This lines up with the error message that we see in the TACACS+ Authentication logs:
24493 ACS has problems communicating with Active Directory using its machine credentials.
I have come across a NETBIOS limitation (it’s not an ACS bug, but a bug has been filed for tracking and documentation purposes) that prevents two ACSs from being connected to Active Directory at the same time if the first 15 characters of their hostnames are the same. The bug ID is CSCtj62342 and its externally visible details are available here: http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCtj62342
The hostname of the primary ACS is : MYMY-TPM-DC-ACS-1
The hostname of the secondary ACS is: MYMY-TPM-DC-ACS-2
From the hostnames, we can see that the first 16 characters of the hostnames are the same. What this means is that once the primary is connected to AD, after some time passes (this will depend on when the secondary goes an talks to AD) the secondary will lose its connection to AD and any authentications hitting the secondary will fail with the same error: 24493 ACS has problems communicating with Active Directory using its machine credentials.
To resolve this issue, the hostnames of the ACSs will need to be changed so that the first 15 characters of their respective hostnames are not the same. Please keep in mind that this is a NETBIOS limitation and not a software bug.

  • Error in communicating with DCR

    Preliminary question:
For LMS 3.2 on Windows, which is better 2003 or 2008?
    Primary issue:
Background:  new install of LMS 3.2 on Windows 2008 sp2 Virtual Machine.
              Upgraded Campus to 5.2.1
              Upgraded RME to 4.3.1
when updating device packages, services started extremely slow with anidbeng taking 2hrs. portal showed service unavailable.
had to restart crmdmgtd to be able to login.
most links in CS return the following:   Error in communicating with DCR server.  DCR server may be down.  Please start the DCR server           and then refresh the page.   The DCR server shows running normal.
              tried restarting crmdmgtd
              attached DCR.log
             tried  CSCtd07131 .. no success

Windows 2008 offers more scalability so I would go with that although LMS has been tested on both (you will have a longer life of support as well).
When applying the CSCtd07131 patch, you need to be sure it is the right patch for the right CS version as there are multiple versions out there.  However, this is fixed in LMS 3.2.1 so you should just upgrade there.
An often overlooked matter when installing LMS are the steps mentioned here:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9132
I see constant TAC cases due to installation problems because the above steps are not met or are half-met.  Services starting slowly are usually an after-effect of something blocking ports (anti-virus or such) or possible database corruption.  Setting DEP and anti-virus as specified above might help here, but if you did not follow these steps to the letter during this new install, I would suggest to cleanup this server and re-install properly; then move all the way to LMS 3.2.1.

I'm replicating between two servers in two sites (Server A - Server 2012 R2 STD, Server B - Server 2008 R2) over a VPN (Sonicwall Firewall).  Though the initial replication seems to be
happening it is very slow (the folder in question is less than 3GB).  I'm seeing these in the event viewer every few minutes:
The DFS Replication service is stopping communication with partner PPIFTC for replication group FTC due to an error. The service will retry the connection periodically.

    ---------------------------------------more troubleshooting-----------------------------
I've done a lot of research on the Internet and most of it is pointing to the same stuff I've tried.  Does anyone have any other suggestions?  Maybe I need to look somewhere
else on the server side or firewall side?
I tried replicating from a 2012 R2 server to another 2012 server and am getting the same events in the event log so maybe it's not a server issue.
    Some other things I'm wondering:
-Could it be the speed of the NICs?  Server A is a 2012 Server that has Hyper-V installed.  NIC teaming was initially setup and since Hyper-V is installed the NIC is a "vEthernet
(Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Driver Virtual Switch) running at a speed of 10.0Gbps whereas Server B is running a single NIC at 1.0Gbps
-Could occasional ping timeout's cause the issue?  From time to time I get a timeout but it's not as often as the events I'm seeing.  I'm getting 53ms pings.  The folder
is only 3 GB so it shouldn't take that long to replicate but it's been days.  The schedule I have set for replication is mostly all day except for our backup times which start at 11pm-5am.  Throughout the rest of the time I have it set anywhere from
    4Mbps to 64 Kbps.  Server A is on a 5mb circuit and Server B is on a 10mb circuit.

I'm seeing the same errors, all servers are running 2008 R2 x64. Across multiple sites, VPN is steady and reliably.
    185 events from 12:28:21 to 12:49:25
Events are for all five servers (one per office, five total offices, no two in the same city, across three states).
Events are not limited to one replication group. I have quite a few replication groups, so I don't know for sure but I'm running under the reasonable assumption that none are spared.
Reminder from original post (and also, yes, same for me), the error is: Error: 1726 (The remote procedure call failed.)
Some way to figure out what code triggers an Event ID 5014, and what code therein specifies an Error 1726, would extremely helpful. Trying random command line/registry changes on live servers is exceptionally unappealing.
Side note, 1726 is referenced here:
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/976442?wa=wsignin1.0
But it says, "This RPC connection problem may be caused by an unstable WAN connection." I don't believe this is the case for my system.
    It also says...
For most RPC connection problems, the DFS Replication service will try to obtain the files again without logging a warning or an error in the DFS Replication log. You can capture the network trace to determine whether the cause of the problem is at the network
layer. To examine the TCP ports that the DFS Replication service is using on replication partners, run the following command in a
    Command Prompt window:
    NETSTAT –ANOBP TCP
This returns all open TCP connections. The connections in question are "DFSRs.exe", which the command won't let you filter for.
Instead, I used the NETSTAT command as advertised, dumping output to info.txt:
    NETSTAT -ANOBP TCP >> X:\info.txt
Then I opened Excel and manually opened the .TXT for the open wizard. I chose fixed-width fields based on the first row for each result, and then added a column:
    =IF(A3="Can not", "Can not obtain ownership information", IF(LEFT(A3,1) = "[", A3&B3&C3, ""))
Dragging this down through the entire file let me see that row (Row F) as the file name. Some anomalies were present but none impacted DFSrs.exe results.
Finally, you can sort/filter (I sorted because I like being able to see everything, should I choose to) to get just the results you need, with the partial rows removed from the result set, or bumped to the end.
My server had 125 connections open.
That is a staggering number of connections to review, and I feel like I'm looking for a needle in a haystack.
I'll see if I can find anything useful out, but a better solution would be most wonderful.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • MAX don't release LAN connction while communicating with Agilent 86122A

    Dear guys,
Yesterday I met a communication issue while talking to Agilent 86122A via LAN.
It showed I cannot run MAX before launching LabVIEW; otherwise I'd have trouble in send commands in LabVIEW.
I doubt if MAX MAX don't release LAN connection while communicating with Agilent 86122A?
    Please advise,thanks.
    I debugged as below:
1, Ping the IP of Agilent 86122A shows internet is OK.
2, I restarted the instrument, LabVIEW reported the same error code.
3, I restarted PC, launched LabVIEW first and run the code (*IDN?), everything is OK!!!
4, Again, I send *IDN? With MAX, and it seemed to be OK.
5, hit x to close MAX and then run the same and simple code (*IDN?) in LabVIEW, but it reports error code -1073807346.

    Caglar,
The documents you mention ahould include the proper prcedure for using this hardware in LabVIEW. Here are my recommendations:
The version of NI-VISA  you mentioned is not valid. The most recent version is 4.6.2. I would recommend ugrading if you do not have this version. After the upgrade, ensure that tulip is enabled as well as the other settings and see if this helps.
When talking about the instrument, the biggest concern that usually is relevant with 488.1 is that it will not respond to *IDN?. In your case, it looks like it does, and should work as 488.2 is backwards compatible. It seems to me, the issue is still with the 82357A, and we have not yet reached the voltmeter.
In order for NI-VISA to work with your device, NI-VISA must be the primary visa driver.
Hope this helps, let us know how the upgrade turns out. If you continue to have issues, take some screenshots of the preferences in MAX and upload them on the forum.

  • Partial insert with secondary index

I'd like to use partial inserts (DB_DBT_PARTIAL).
However, I also need secondary indexes. Now when I insert partial data, the secondary index function is immediately called, but still I do not have enough data to calculate the secondary key. I tried to supply some app_data do the DBT, but it does not reach the secondary index function.
Is there any way I can use partial inserts together with secondary indexes?

When writing a partial record to the primary database, here's what we do:
    1. Look up the existing record via get()
    2. Using the existing record and the partial DBT, construct the new record
    3. Pass that newly constructed record to the secondary key generation function
You don't need to do anything special, your callback will receive the full record, even though you passed us a partial DBT. If that's not the case, there's a bug in BDB and we'd need to see your code.
app_data is a private field, you should not try to use it or expect it to work predictably. In this situation, we're passing a brand new DBT to the callback function, not the DBT you gave us. That's why app_data is empty.
    Thanks,

  • Can we Purchase with Secondary UOM Quantity and with Secondary UOM Price on

    Friends..
    wanna ask about Purchasing matters..
we have item with Dual Unit of Measure, say it with Kilogram and Pieces,
now, on Purchase Orders Form, when i enter my order,
TOTAL Price is driven by Primary QUANTITY multiply PRICE.
    My question:
when user would like to purchase with SECONDARY UOM, how oracle handle it?
i mean, when i try to locate secondary quantity,Total Price is still driven
by Primary QUANTITY (which is already autoconvert after i enter secondary quantity)
    multiply PRICE.
is there any advanced setup to do this?
if not user have to manual calculate the Price converted to Primary Quantity,
when user purchase base on secondary Quantity.
    really appreciate your help

    Hi
I think you can try "Adv Pricing Integration with Purchasing" for diff UOM with diff Price.
But what you are seeing is the Standard functionality as per Oracle. I faced similar kind of issue and got a reply from SR like that.

  • Modbus Communication with Cube400

    Hi
I have problem to communicate with Cube400. It is using modbus protocol and communication is going through rs485. I must connect it to cRIO 9022 serial port so I used converter IC-485SI (converter manual on page: http://www.esis.com.au/Converters/ic485si.pdf ) to change communication from rs485 to rs232.
I tried to used Modbus I/O Server. When I have one variable binded to modbus register I have proper reading. When I add second variable then I lose readings from first one. This solution is in VI called ModbusIO_rs485.
After this I tried to communicate with Cube400 by using VISA blocks. I tried to send specific modbus message. On the begging I get proper response several times but right now I am getting timeout error. This program is in VI called VISA_MBP_ForcePush.
I am attaching project with this VIs
    What is wrong here ?

In your program you read 16 bytes immediately after the write.
You should add some time after the write and you should see how many bytes there are available and read that number of bytes.
Look at the COM example shipped with LabVIEW.
And you use the WRONG CRC it should be 0x5679.
Try communication with the loopback command. Sending  0408 0000 8844 866D  (Hex data) should return the same data

  • Service Manager "Error communicating with component" after moving SQL servers

We just moved our SCCM database to a new SQL server and ever since, I've been getting stumped as to why I'm getting the following error each time I try to query the status of anything under the SQL server:
    Error communicating with component
Admittedly, I'm a total novice when it comes to SCCM and I was doing this under the loose supervision of my predecessor (this is his last week).  I appreciate anyone offering any advice as to where I should start, and I apologize I'm not knowledgeable
enough yet to know exactly what info to provide you with initially!
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the quick replies!
@Peter: Currently using SCCM 2012 R2 running on a 2008 server,  with the database having moved from SQL 2010 to 2012.  We have a single primary site with 5 additional distribution points supporting around 260 users.
We did only change our SQL server and the guide you posted is the exact one we used.  Everything seemed to look exactly like the guide.  Afterwards, when checking the Configuration Manager Server Manager, under Servers, it had my SCCM server and
new SQL server both listed.  The components listed under my SQL server were as follows:
    SMS_COMPONENT_MONITOR
    SMS_EXECUTIVE
    SMS_MP_FILE_DISPATCH_MANAGER
    SMS_OUTBOX_MONITOR
    SMS_SITE_SQL_BACKUP_SCCM01
    SMS-SRS_REPORTING_POINT
However, when we query those components, we get "Error communicating with component" on all of them except SMS_SITE_SQL_BACKUP_SCCM01.  I'm slightly suspicious of our certificates but I'm not well-versed enough with them to troubleshoot effectively
    on my own.

What can I do  ? Thank you very much!!!

I found this on stack overflow.com and thought it would apply to this article discussion for some users even though I don't understand how to revert the version (through git?)
I think this is a compatibility issue. I think the .xib has moved to Xcode 4 (as shown by the line setenv IBC_MINIMUM_COMPATIBILITY_VERSION 4.2) which Xcode 3.2's version of ibtooldoes not understand.
I think you need to revert to a version of the .xib prior to the update to Xcode 4.""
