Edited by: P explorer on Oct 13, 2008 5:22 PM

    Hi P explorer
Sorry for the late answer, may this work-around should help you out of that issue. it applies to Version: 10.1.0.2 to 10.2.0.4
    Cause
The hidden directory '/var/tmp/.oracle' was removed while instances & the CRS stack were up and running. Typically this directory contains a number of "special" socket files that are used by local clients to connect via the IPC protocol (sqlnet) to various Oracle processes including the TNS listener, the CSS, CRS & EVM daemons or even the database instance. These files are created when the "listening" process starts.
    Solution
The only way to re-create these special files is to restart (instance, listener, CRS). In a RAC environment this requires the shutdown & restart of the entire CRS stack.
As these special files are required to communicate with the various CRS daemons, it most likely will not be possible to stop (and restart) the CRS stack using the following commands as user root - but it won't hurt to try it anyway:
    10gR1:
    # /etc/init.d./init.crs stop
    # /etc/init.d./init.crs start
    10gR2:
    # $ORA_CRS_HOME/bin/crsctl stop crs
    # $ORA_CRS_HOME/bin/crsctl start crs
If the above fails to successfully stop the CRS stack, a system reboot will be inevitable.
As for deleting files from temporary directory via a cronjob:
the directory '/var/tmp/.oracle' (on some platform /tmp/.oracle) should be excluded from such jobs. The files in this directory on occupy a few bytes and generally do not need to be cleaned up.
A good practice for deleting files is to check if the file is still being opened by a process, most Unix platforms have a 'fuser' command which returns the process IDs of such processes.
    Good luck.

  • Primus: fatal: failure contacting bumblebee daemon [SOLVED]

I just did a pacman -Syu which broke my system as usual. This time I get the above error message when trying to use primusrun:
primus: fatal: failure contacting bumblebee daemon
Trying to run glxshperes gives a slightly different message:
    $ primusrun glxspheres
primus: fatal: Bumblebee daemon reported: error: Could not load GPU driver
and via optirun, just for the heck of it:
    $ optirun glxgears
[ 2702.399865] [ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU - error: Could not load GPU driver
[ 2702.399894] [ERROR]Aborting because fallback start is disabled.
<<SOLUTION: Replace all the *-bumblebee packages by * packages, this means enabling multiverse repo and drawing all of it from official repos instead of anything from AUR. Examples: nvidia instead of nvidia-bumblebee, primus instead of primus-git, nvidia-utils instead of nvidia-utils-bumblebee, lib32-nvidia-utils instead of lib32-nvidia-utils-bumblebee. Some time ago the 'official' instructions were exactly the other way round, but it seems this was now completely reverted.>>
    I noticed:
    1) primus in official repos (I was using git so far) causes a timeout from about 40 mirrors until it finds one where the download works. I hope that's no bad sign of some sort?
    2) bumblebeed update created new bumblebee.conf.pacnew and xorg.conf.nvidia.pacnew
    3) off-topic: When I clicked 'logout' in XFCE's applications menu, usually I get a box where I can pick whether I wanna logout/restart/shutdown etc, but this time it just straightly logged me out (makes sense I guess).
    4) after rebooting my system I saw I think two systemd error messages pop up for a split second, that usually did not occur.
    5) Xorg.8.log had the line "[633217.731] (WW) NVIDIA: This server has an unsupported input driver ABI version (have 19.1, need < 19.0).  The driver will continue to load, but may behave strangely.", is this responsible maybe? Version conflict between X and nvidia?
    I tried:
I restarted after the pacman -Syu update.
I tried primusrun-git from AUR and primusrun from <community> but both exit with the error message.
I tried the new conf files (copied the pacnew files to the normal filenames) but they don't work either.
    I checked:
    Bumbleed is running, systemctl shows
bumblebeed.service loaded active running Bumblebee C Daemon
and lspci | grep VGA shows the usual
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 3rd Gen Core processor Graphics Controller (rev 09)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation Device 0fd4 (rev a1)
(After I try to start something with primusrun, the indicator light switches on and remains on, I can turn it off again with the usual
    echo OFF > /proc/acpi/bbswitch
    dmesg has these:
[ 94.057043] nvidia: disagrees about version of symbol pv_mmu_ops
    [ 94.057047] nvidia: Unknown symbol pv_mmu_ops (err -22)

Hm, so far it was emphasized NOT to install nvidia, because that would actually break it, but to use nvidia-bumblebee instead.
Do you maybe have a link to information saying that it is now exactly the other way round?
Has 'nvidia' been confirmed to work with bumblebee by anyone? Does it work for you?
Edit: I just saw in my Xorg.8.log:
[633217.731] (WW) NVIDIA: This server has an unsupported input driver ABI version (have 19.1, need < 19.0). The driver will continue to load, but may behave strangely.
Maybe this has to do with it? It seems there might be a version conflict between X and nvidia drivers?
If anyone can confirm that the basic 'nvidia' packages are indeed replacing 'nvidia-bumblebee' now, instead of the other way round, I'll give them a try

  • Lenovo A6000- Failure of Contact Manager on Update

After updating my Lenovo A6000 to Craft-A6000-m_S021_150616, Am receiving tect messages on failure of the contact manager. Please Advice

Hi,  I found there are other issue apart from contact manager crash issue after upgrade from Jelly bean to KitKat 1. in the same way google chrome is also crashing after trying to open gmail and start enetering username2. caller name is not displaying while getting incoming or outgoing calls3. I found some suggestion in the same community website that first take a backup, delete all the contacts, and them import it back to solve the issue. But why we need to do these, why this issue is happening after upgrade4. however I deleted contacts and tried export from the storage. While doing so, Contacts->Menu->Import/Export contacts->Import from storage, it finds and displays all the .vcf files. Very good, but there is no select button to 'select all' the vcf file to import to the address book. I don't want to sit and select each .vcf file from the list to import it as there hundreds of contacts. I think 'select all' option is missing after upgrade.  I heard, in kitkat version some performance issue is fixed but now it seems to be many basic functionality features are not working after upgrading.  We are all waiting for your response and good kitkat upgrade notification in our mobile.  Thanks,Sharath

Beforehand I made a backup using the pc suite back up feature, and the backup went smoothly. Now, when I try to restore my info using the restore function in the backup(content copier),it restores everything except the contact list. Somewhat in the middle of the resotration of the contact list, an error jumps saying the connection to the phone has been list. A few seconds later the connection restores automatically.
I tried solving the problem using this thread:
    http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/discussions/board/message?board.id=pcsuite&message.id=7746&view=...
    But it didnt quite work
What can I do to solve this problem? How can I restore my contacts?
And if not, Is there a way to convert the Backup NBU file into Outlook VCF format?
    Best regards,
    Uri

I've got my entire contact list on the backup file.
except notepad can't disipher the the names into english, and so cant hexedit's of their sort.
Example from the notepad of the backup file:
    BEGIN:VCARD
    VERSION:3.0 /*jibrish should be the nemes*/
    N;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE;CHARSET=UTF-8:׳’׳ ׳¢׳“;׳¨׳‘׳™׳ ׳ ;;;

    TEL;HOME:*phone number*
    TEL;HOME:*phone number*
    TEL;HOME:*phone number*
    TEL;WORK:*phone number*
    END:VCARD
note. *phone number* replaced by me for confidentiallity.

I tried to recover the phone as soon as I recieved it from the phone provider with the new v3.81. That is , the manufacturer's settings were the default. Unfortunantly that didn't work.

  • Failures syncing contacts

I'm trying to sync my contacts in outlook with my Touch. I keep getting 78 conflicts, I 'resolve' the first 20-30ish but can't see all to resolve, message saying it can't contact the server, and finally a new window 'unable to retrieve conflict info from the sync server. Please try again next time the conflict resolver window is presented'.
I've successfully synced my old Touch and this newer one, but can't get this latest round of conflicts resolved. Ideas anyone?

  • CSS startup problem

Based on my understanding, CSS should be automatically started at system boot time when ASM is configured for database storage management. However, everytime when I re-boot the linux system, the CSS does not start up.

    Failure 1 contacting CSS daemon.
    How to fix this problem?

Is my OCR corrupted on thsi node? How can I restore it??

    Dear All,
I recently upgrade the Few RAC setups with Oracle 10g Patchset 3 (10.2.0.4) on Linux Servers
In one of the RAC setup, found servers are rebooting daily. The same setup was working fine and problem started only after applying the Patchset. Checked all the logs and Found nothing relevant.
Then i checked the things which added with this Patchset.
The Most interesting found , Oracle Added a New Daemon- oprocd.
    # ps -efl | grep oprocd
    4 S root 6440 6063 0 -40 - - 2114 - Mar03 ? 00:00:00 /opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs/bin/oprocd.bin run -t 1000 -m 500 -hsi 5:10:50:75:90 -f
These are Interesting Points about above line
1.This Process is running by root user
    2. With Highest Priority -40
    3. Probing every Seconds (t 1000)
    4. waiting CPU response for 500 Milliseconds ( -m 500 means margin time is 500 Milli Seconds)
    5. Process status is Fatal (-f)
Now I am concluding these points- This daemon will probe cpu every second and wait for response within 500 Mill seconds. If in the 500 Milli second not getting any response from the cpu, will assume the CPU is hang and try to Reboot the Machine. The OPERATING SYSTEM will not get enough time to write the system logs and server reboots.
So the solution is increase the Margin time for 500 Milli second to 10 seconds.
These are following steps to increase the Margin time.
Please Remember- The Modification process need Downtime and You need to stop cluster service in all member nodes.
    1. Stop The CRS Process
    #crsctl stop crs
    #<CRS_HOME>/bin/oprocd stop
    2. Ensure that Clusterware stack is down and not running
    #ps -ef |egrep "crsd.bin|ocssd.bin|evmd.bin|oprocd"
    This should return no processes.
    3. From one node of the cluster, change the value of the "diagwait" parameter to 13 by issuing the command as root:
#crsctl set css diagwait 13 -force
    4. Check if diagwait is successfully set.
    #crsctl get css diagwait
    5. Restart the Oracle Clusterware on all the nodes by executing:
    #crsctl start crs
(Note- If facing any problem to restarting the CRS services, ASM and Database, You can reboot the Nodes. The Cluster and Database will come automatically due to init startup scripts.)
    6. The oprocd daemon process will show with -m 10000
    # ps -efl| grep oprocd
    # 4 S root 6440 6063 0 -40 - - 2114 - Feb02 ? 00:00:00 /opt/oracle/product/10.2.0/crs/bin/oprocd.bin run -t 1000 -m 10000 -hsi 5:10:50:75:90 -f
    Rollback Procedure-
If You need to unset oprocd value due any reason
    #crsctl unset css diagwait
I am confident, The abnormal RAC Node restart problem will solve with this workaround.
