Failure ID on G62 Notebook

When I boot up my G62 notebook it gives me an error 0xc00000e9.  When I then run diagnostic tests I get a failure error id as follows  GGBRW4-5MF70T-9XL03F-60T603  it gives me a product ID of XF205EA#ABU.  I have tried all the diagnostic tests but can't get any further.
My options on startup are Launch system repair or start windows normally both get me back to the error message.

Your hard drive is dying or dead. Post back if you want help buying a new hard drive and replacing it in the machine and with software migration/reinstallation. Your out of pocket cost is going to be $60-100 US for a mechanical hard drive, more if you want to use this opportunity to try a solid state drive.

  • HP G62 Notebook has Smart Hard disk error

My HP G62 Notebook PC just stopped in the middle of my doing homework the other day and came up with an error code on the screen. I have went in through the BIOS and ran a hard disk test. It passes the first 2 tests and then fails on the third one.
I have tried to back it up over a month, just in case it was a virus but that doesn't seem to make a difference. Now upon start up it says the following:
    "SMART Hard Disk Error
The SMART Hard disk check has detected an imminent failure. To ensure not data loss, please backup the content immediatly and run the Hard Disk Test in System Diagnostics.
    Hard Disk 1 (301)"
Does this mean my computer is done? Do I need a new hard drive? I'm definetly not the most tech savvy person. I did see another board where they suggested removing the hard drive and then reinstalling it. This doesn't seem to make a difference. HELP!!

    Hi,
The Smart error would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced.
If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced - you can check your warranty status Here.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know - include the full Model No. and Product No. of your G62 series notebook - see Here for a further explanation.

  • G62 notebook won't boot from boot disk

Need to recover computer.  I ordered a boot disk from HP.  The disk arrived and my G62 notebook will not book from boot disk.  I checked the bios and it is set to boot from CD.  I also started in safemode and can't locate an autorun exe when I launch explorer.
Basically my computer was hijacked with a nasty virus that has completely taken over my PC.  If I boot normally all I see is an empty desktop and an start menu, can't even get a run prompt.  The virus is disguised as anti virus software and is trying to get me to pay for their $90 software suite to "correct" the problem.
If I hit F11 at start up, the recovery stalls and I get an eternal blank screen.
    Any suggestions?

    Hi, Courtney:
Try the free Kaspersky rescue CD.
That disk will get rid of viruses like those and the good thing is you don't need to be in Windows to run it.
It is a bootable CD (which you make from the download file) and using the graphic user interface (GUI) you can scan your PC for viruses and remove them.
    Link and instructions below:
    http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/rescuedisk
Rather than changing the boot order, just start the notebook and at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, tap the F9 key to launch the one time boot menu.  Select the DVD Rom drive and hit the enter key.
You should then see a message displayed on your screen that states in substance:  "Attempting to boot from DVD...Press any key to boot from DVD..."
Press any key and the DVD or CD should boot up.

  • How can I get my hard drive up and running on my hp g62 notebook pc

My hp g62 notebook pc just stop working one day. I had not used it for a while, when I started it up one day it was running slow then it stated hard drive was unavailable. Have I lost all my stuff? How can I fix?

    Hi,
It may well be that the Hard Drive has failed, so try running the foolowing test.
Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run a test on the Hard Drive.  Post back with the details of any error messages.

  • Can I swap a HD from my G62 notebook into my G61 notebook?

    Hi there,
My motherboard in my G62 notebook is friend. However the hard drive is good and is loaded with win8.1. I would like to swap this HD into my G61 notebook that is presently running win7. Are there any issues I should be aware of before doing this swap?
    This question was solved.

    Hi:
It depends on if the PC's have relatively the same hardware (processor and chipset).
If they do, most likely the drive will boot up.
Worst case scenario is you reinstall the operating system.
If the drive does boot up, you may have to reactivate Windows 8.1 since it will sense the new motherboard.

  • HP G62 Notebook PC start up problem

    Hi,
Whenever I start up my G62 Notebook, the screen shows the HP logo, and "Press F12 to enter start up menu". After this screen shows up, it stays on that page. I clicked on BIOS (F10) and when to "Diagnostics" and clicked on both of the 2 options. the first option said "Memory Test", i did the memory test and it passed. When i did the other option "Primary Hard Disk Self Test" is said "Hard Disk Not Exist"
    Any help for this issue?

Unfortunately I have bad news for you.
The BIOS diagnostic  test confirms that your hard disk has failed.
Is your G62 notebook still within its warranty period?
    If it is...Contact HP
If not.'.gather your HP Recovery disc set and purchase and install a new hard disk..
    Best regards,

  • Hard drive failure on HP G62-219WM Notebook PC with Windows 7 64-bit

I have HPG62 laptop since 10/1/10.  I have had 3 hard drive failures since August.  I also replaced the LCD monitor in October 2011.  With last hard drive failure in November 2011, I also have "wireless module not working".  I ran the diagnostics from laptop: Smart Check test, Run-in test, Hard Disk test, & Memory Module 1 ALL failed.  Smart Check test provided ID: RK2A7S-53H5RS-XD002J-60FT03.  Memory Module 1 provided ID: RK2A7S-53H5RP-XD002J-409F03.  My question is what is causing the hard drive to fail so many times and why are there so many things going wrong with 14 month old laptop?

  • G62 Notebook wireless card?

Hi.  I have a G62-b28SA notebook and I think my wireless card is dying.  It's the latest of a long line of problems with this notebook, but compared to the trauma I'm suffered in the past (coughDellcough) I'm happy to replace the wireless card, if I can.
I don't know what cards are compatible with this notebook though, and Google isn't proving helpful.  Can anyone offer any advice?

    You need one of these:
    Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi Adapter 593836-001
    Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n 1x1 WiFi and 2070 Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Combo adapter
    (BT3.0+HS ready)
    600370-001
It has to be an approved HP part or the laptop will not boot. Which one you choose depends on whether you want bluetooth, too.
Assuming you do here is a link to the card on eBay:

  • G62 Notebook wireless card replacement?

    Hi all,
I've got a HP G62-18sa notebook with the standard RT3090 wifi+bluetooth combo card in and I was wondering if I can replace it at all? I've been looking at this card http://is.gd/nNjsK8
Reason I'm asking is the RT3090 card has very, VERY bad support for Linux and I'm looking to replace it. If the above card won't fit can anyone suggest ones that might fit and work under Linux?
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
There are 2 compatible wifi/bth cards for your laptop, the Ralink and a Broadcom 4313. I would suggest to disable the whitelist (list of the compatible components) in the BIOS and after that you may use the Intel 6230 combo card (any wireless card you want) without problems..
    http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/20223-Remove-whitelist-check-add-ID-s-to-break-hardware-res...
I have disabled the whitelist myself and upgraded the wireless card to an Intel Ultimate-N 6300 450Mbps. It's not the best solution but works. I also use linux and Intel wireless cards have the best support, like HP printers..

    Dear Sirs,
I am not sure why i am having trouble playing games on my pc.  Up until recently I could play games but pressing on a facebook game brings the login page flashing on and off and doesn't take me to the game.  I was in the middle of a scrabble game when it first did it.  When i managed to get back on the person i was playing had cancelled the game, because they didn't think i was interested in playing and now its done it again.  i can play offline games, but have trouble playing online games.  can you please help me.

    Hi,
I would say this is a problem with Adobe Flash, so try the following.
First, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it to your Desktop.
    http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe
When the download has completed, close all browser windows and run the uninstaller.  After this has completed, restart the notebook.
Next, download and install Firefox and then using Firefox, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash.
Close all browser windows before running the Flash installer.
Launch Firefox and see if the games play Ok - if they do, close Firefox, open IE ( See Note Below ) and click on the same Adobe Flash link above to get a prompt to install the ActiveX component.  When done, restart IE.
Note:  If you have a 64bit installation, make sure you open Internet Explorer and not Internet Explorer64 ) and click on the same Adobe Flash link above to get a prompt to install the ActiveX component.  When done, restart IE.
If you want to use Internet Explorer 64, install Adobe Flash for this browser using the link below.

  • Frozen Pointer HP G62 Notebook PC Windows 7 Home Premium

Every 3 or 4 days my PC's mouse pointer stops moving when I touch the touch pad.  The light on the touch pad also illuminates.
To continue, I press the Microsoft key (between the <fn> and <alt> keys, then <tab> <tab> which shuts down.
The shutdown clears the problem.  So far I haven't been in the middle of something really important when the mouse pointer freezes and I am able to continue with a restart and missing time.
    Help!  Does anyone know? . . .
Can I reset and resume without shutdown and restart?
Which is the "unfreeze mouse pointer" key?
    Thanks.
