JoeThere are quite a few dv7 failures. Just google "hp dv7 problems" or "hp dv7 class action". It is a motherboard failure common to a NVIDIA motherboard that HP and several other companies used. After a few years, the chickens are coming home to roost. My dv7 is 3 yrs old and has lasted longer than many I've read about. A fix runs about $400 by some estimates, although I've found one on ebay for $179. I'm checking that out now. No more HP products for me.

Package Load Failure ODT 11.1.06.20 production
I have just downloaded the production release of ODT. I uninstalled ODT 11 beta 2.
I installed ODT 11 prod without Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server 11.1.6.0.
Now I get this error when I want to create a new Oracle Database Project in VS 2005 SP1.
VSIP: Package 'Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .NET' has failed to load ( GUID = {D601BB95-E404-4A8E-9F24-5C1A462426CE} ).
Please contact package vendor for assistance.
I also get the same error when I want to connect to a Oracle server in the Server Explorer.
I have tried the tips that were posted at the link below but they don't fix this problem. http://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=258
Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
FabianI found a fix for me. Maybe it works for other people too.
3 dlls were not in my GAC.
Oracle.Managment.Omo
Oracle.VsDevTools
Oracle.Web
Added these manually.
I also had to fix some errors in machine.config.
Oracle install added this to machine.config

Because we store our health monitoring section in a separate file (i.e.
Machine.Config.HealthMonitoring.config) we have now 2 providers section under healthmonitoring which VS 2005 doesnt' like. So I moved the Oracle item into our separate file and deleted the providers section so it looks like this now

</healthMonitoring>
One more thing. A connection string was missing in machine.config. Either the Oracle installer couldn't add it because our config files are encrypted or because we keep them in a separate config file just like for healthmonitoring.
I added this to our connection string config file.

Now all works fine. -

The error code will be a Smart or Disk Self Test failure - in either case, it would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced. This is also consistent with the start-up issue.

I have a one year old HP Pavillion g7 Notebook PC // Product number : B9P49UA#ABA
I'm currently experiencing a Hard Disk 1 failure. It will not open windows and I can not get my system recovery options to open either.. I simply get a gray screen and none of the boxes/options for recovery will appear. the Failure ID Code is: 94PNMK-68K77G-MFPX1F-60VQ03 // SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME RECOVER THIS.. I'VE DONE ALL I KNOW TO DO AND I CAN'T ACCESS MY LAST RECOVERY POINT AND DO NOT HAVE A RECOVERY DISK!!! If I choose "Start Windows Normally".. it appears to start.. says it is starting.. and then just freezes with those words on the screen and never will open windows. Upon powering up I chose "esc" and opened my Advanced System Diagnostics - 4.1.0.0 Out of the Hard Disk, Tuneup, Run-In, Start-Up (all failed and have the same Failure ID) ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!! I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT MY PC!!!
A SMART hard drive error or DST failure typically indicates that the hard drive has failed or is about to fail and will need to replaced. After replacing the hard drive, please use the HP Recovery Media you previously created to return the computer to a factory like state.
If you didn't create your HP Recovery Media when you first setup your computer, please contact official HP support in your region / country, via the HP Worldwide Support Portal, to see if HP Recovery Media is available for your computer.

I am in need of a new video card and want to know which motherboard is used in this computer so I can find a VC that is compatible with it. If you plan on upgrading the video card to something with more grunt ( 2GB and more vRAM) then you will also need to upgrade the PSU to at least 500W+ PSU with PCI Express power connectors. Use an enthusiast grade PSU by a well known manufacturer like Corsair.

Screen freezes up randomly, I called HP and Tech support had me unplug everything, including power cord and hold down start button for 20 seconds to release built up static electricity. It did not work. Computer randomly freezes, can not use any keystrokes, no error messages. I have to reboot computer to get it to come back up. Has happened since it was new, Oct. 12, 2011. Varies from 1hr. to 12 hrs to freeze
Hi,
Shut down the PC. Tap away at f9 as soon as you start up to access the access the Diagnostic Menu - let all the tests complete and post back with any failures.
If all of the above tests pass, try the following.
From the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'. In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.
Next, click the Start Menu, click Computer, left click Local Disc C once to highlight it, right click Local Disc C and select Properties. Click the Tools tab and then click the button to 'Check the Drive for Errors'. In the following window make sure both boxes are ticked and then click Start. Part of this process will require a restart to check the drive.

Windows 7 do not boot from recovery disk.From keyboard can't move highlight any sign and arrow do not move from keyboard. Can't start any recovery disk from Ram Recovery to factory condition works only from comp. hardrive. .But recovery from hardrive has some missing files and after recovery keyboard do not work.
Windows 7 bit 32 do not startup.Screen says:edit Boot options for Ramdisk options. Path:\windows\system 32 \boot\winload.exeWhne trying to boot from Recovery Disks are you tapping Esc key immediately after powering on to bring up the menu? From there tapping F9 Boot options?

When i turn my computer on it says press escape for startup menu. when i do that a screen comes up that has
F1 F2 F9 F10 and F11 then it says enter -continue startup. When i press one of the numbers it goes back to the same screen where it says press escape for startup menu. Please helpHi,
Have you tried DO NOT press Esc on start up ? What is the result ? You don't need to press Esc unless to need to do something, otherwise it should start in few seconds normally.

Sound quit working suddenly product number an831ua#aba
I have a hp pavilion dv6815nr serial number:cnf815imhv, p/n; an831ua#aba. I just noticed a few weeks ago that my sound on my laptop quit working. I've disabled and enabled the drivers again, windows media player doesn't even work and I can't hear youtube videos or any media for that matter. I've checked the device manager and there isn't a yellow exclamation point by the drivers. there are exclamation icons by the Ricoh memory stick controller though. The drivers names are LitexMedia Virtual Audio cable and when I click on the properties it says that the device is performing normally. I'm lost. Please help.

alright, this is the first time i have had this issue.
only thing on the computer that was changed recently was a windows update yesterday, it came up automatically, shut the computer down, and restarted automatically. Java has wanted to update for a couple days
if its worth anything, the error came up when i was watching instant streaming on netflix.

gave me a warning message that hard disk drive failure was eminant, and adviced me to back up everything. computer seems to be functioning normal other than the error/warning message.
when i restarted the computer and ran the test that comes up i ended up with this, it says it may take over an hour, but this comes up after about a minute.

You need to replace your hard drive. You should be able to purchase the parts on the notebook's HP Parts Surfer Page.
Had you previously created any Recovery Media such as a thumbdrive? Without this you'll be unable to reinstall the operating system when you replace your hard drive. You'll need to contact HP Support in order to get one of these kits. The number for US/Canadian customers is 1-800-474-6836. If you're in another part of the world you'll need to visit HP Support Worldwide to get your region's contact information.

Zfs does not reclaim space after database table dropped
Our Oracle DBA dropped 200GB of tables and zfs has not reclaimed the space. I have made sure we did not have any snapshots. When I do a du -h on the filesystem, it shows the correct space, but zfs list does not show the extra space. Any ideas?
