Failure in Sharing to MobileMe Gallery

I use the Share to MobileMe Gallery from time to time to send samples to clients. It's worked just great in the past, but all of a sudden it's not working. I've switched MobileMe accounts and get the same error. I've done both long and short tests with the same result. The files are created and saved on the MacPro. The error is apparently in the upload and gallery creation process. I'm sitting on 10.6.5. I haven't upgraded to the latest yet--I'm near the end of a major project.
Usernames and passwords have all been verified
The error message reads:
Share Warning.
Publishing to MobileMe Failed: Account Error: Missing Locator

Fixed:
Turns out that the username can no longer include "@me.com" or "@mac.com"
It used to work that way, and now for some reason it does not. Using the name only seems to work just fine. Found the hint at one of the non-Apple MobileMe discussion groups

  • Sharing to MobileMe Gallery failure

I searched the forum and nothing along these lines.
I'm doing a "share" to a MobileMe Gallery from Final Cut Pro. While this used to work, in the last few weeks it fails and I get the following message:
The MobileMe control panel on this computer indicates that I'm currently logged into the appropriate MobileMe account.
The account's gallery is fully accessible on the web.
The username and password has been verified many times.
I'm using the standard Share to MobileMe template in FCP
The problem is 100% repeatable on my other MobileMe accounts
The correct username and password is entered, and verified in the FCP share panel.
There have been no OS or ProKit updates to the system between the time that this worked and did not work.
    Ideas?
(note: this is cross-posted in the MobileMe forum as well. I'm thinking I'll have better luck here.)
    Thanks

Did you get to the bottom of this?
I am having big trouble "sharing" to MobileMe from fcp. Ive dropped the @me.com login and I've managed, like you to publish short 15sec test clips but not my full 9min edit. I've also tried from two fcp systems on different Internet connections (different ISP, line - in fact different town). The sharing results in three movies of different size getting made but they don't seem to reach MobileMe. My last attempt ran for over three hours before an error message appeared (which I failed to make a mote of unfortunately).
Can we conclude fcp publishing to MobileMe is broken?
Is anyone managing to successfully publish Movies of 5min length or more from fcp to MobileMe?

  • MobileMe Gallery deleted photos also deleted from Event

I have just noticed what looks like new behavior in iPhoto '11 when deleting a photo from a MobileMe gallery.
Here is what I did to recreate the problem/behavior:
    1) Created iPhoto Event with 2 images in it.
    2) Shared the Event to a new MobileMe Gallery by: Share, MobileMe Gallery, Add
    3) Waited for the Event to be shared to MobileMe Gallery.
    4) Opened the Gallery in iPhoto under the Source list, Web, MobileMe Gallery
    5) Deleted 1 of the 2 images in the MobileMe Gallery, right-clicked, and selected Trash.
--- the Image is now deleted from BOTH the MobileMe Gallery AND the iPhoto Event (see step 1) ---
I confirmed this by opening the iPhoto trash and finding the image there, and then opening the iPhoto Event and finding the image missing there.
I also just tried this with an Album...
    1) Created a new Album.
    2) Dragged an image from an Event into the Album.
    3) Published the Album to MobileMe using Share/MobileMe Gallery/Add.
    4) Opened the Gallery inside iPhoto Source list, and deleted the image.
    5) Opened the Album - image deleted. Opened the Event - image ALSO deleted. Opened Trash - the image is in the Trash.
This seems like a bug, or at least behavior for which a warning should be given by the Trash dialogue box before deleting the image. Deleting an image from an Event after publishing the Album is especially surprising, and seems counter to the way Albums have always acted.

Yes. It's not a bug. You're opting to delete the photo from the library with those key strokes, not just the gallery. If you send the photo to the trash it will be removed from the event and all other items in the library that is was assigned to.
To delete a photo from just the gallery (or album or book or slideshow) select it and use the Delete key. The photo will remain in all other locations in the library.

  • Sharing photos via MobileMe Gallery - what alternative?

I have been sharing photos with my soon to be 80 years old mother via my MobileMe gallery, all I had to do was send her the link, while all she had to do was subscribe to my gallery in order to have the images download to iPhoto. This was easy and straightforward for her.
How should I handle this task after the discontinuation of MobileMe? PhotoStream doesn't seem to be designed for this task, and I don't want her to have to jump through too many hoops, since she still uses her computer on a beginner's level.
    Thanks for any suggestions!

  • Creating a MobileMe gallery & NOT sharing with everyone?

Hi, how do I restrict visibility of a MobileMe gallery to just a few users?
Prior to uploading there is a menu where it is possible among other setting to choose to share with 'everyone', 'just me' or 'selected people'.
Ok the issue is with the selected people list.
Do I understand this right that I have to give a 'name' & a password for every person I want to share the gallery with?
Ok I have put in 3 names and given them a password. But then it goes back to the main pre-loading options and I can see all the names in the drop down along with 'everyone', 'just me' etc... so how do I select those 3 ??? It looks as if I can only select one name. Do I have to do this one at a time or do I give all the people I want to share with a single name ? Is that how it is supposed to work ?
    Thxs,
    me

While viewing the MMe gallery in iPhoto click on the Settings button to bring up the Settings pane. Then click on the Advanced button to show additional options.
    There you have two options:
1 - select Hide Album on my Gallery Page
Which will keep viewers who are viewing your other galleries from visiting the hidden gallery. You can then just give the URL for that gallery to those who you want to view. But they could give it to others.
2 - select Edit Names and Passwords in the Album Viewable by drop down menu and create a single username and password for those selected to view it or a username and password for each individual.

  • Videos Won't Play in Mobileme Gallery App

Hi. I recently downloaded the MobileMe Gallery app. The app displays the Photo Albums and Videos in my gallery but, when I try to play the videos, I get this message: "This video can't be played on this device." The videos were created in Imovie and shared directly to my MobileMe gallery, so I'm not sure why I can't play them on my phone. Any help would be great. Thanks.
    Iphone 3G 3.1.2
    Tblay

Me too - iMovie video, uploaded to My Gallery, accessed via Safari 4.0 on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard, is displayed on the screen with the Apple equivalent of the Microsoft spinning hour-glass (you know, the clockwise tick thing) with a question mark sat in the middle of it all. And the video completely refuses to play.
I know it's a Safari problem because the video plays fine when I use Firefox. I have even tried uninstalling Safari (drag and drop to the Trash) and then reinstalling. I've got to the point where I'm thinking of dropping Safari altogether, even if it does have nice MobileMe sync settings...
Come on Apple, what's the craic here?

  • MobileMe Gallery features in iweb?

I have started to create a Family website using iWeb and want to be able to allow family members to upload and download pictures to their own albums on the site.  It looks like a MobileMe Gallery would provide that type of functionality, but I do not have a MobileMe account and can no longer sign up for one.  Is their anything in iWeb or iCloud that would provide this same type of functionality?

iWeb just made the layout and appears to not be expected to continue developement.
MobileMe Gallery does not currently appear to have an equal in iCloud.
    http://www.macrumors.com/2011/06/12/steve-jobs-confirms-discontinuation-of-iweb- in-icloud-transition/
Remember we are in the digital age where things constantly change. iPhoto support sharing to Facebook and Flickr directly. If I were to hazzard a guess not many people, as an average, were publishing to MobileMe, opting for the other mentioned solutions. You and I might be part of a minority that did. It is possible that a similar feature will appear down the road, but for now... don't count on it.

  • How to add uploaded photos (not from aperture) in Mobileme Gallery to a project

I shared some photos using a mobileme gallery where I allowed friends to upload their photos to the gallery.  Now the gallery exists with both the photos from my aperture library (and project) and my friends photos (which appear in aperture with a little symbol).
I would like to have the photos that were uploaded by my friends to be added to a new project without moving or erasing them in the mobileme gallery.  Is there a simple way to do this? I know if I select photos from a project and drag and drop them to another project aperture moves the photos but I don't know if this is how aperture handles mobileme galleries in the inspector.
    Jeff

Just drag an image from the MobileMe Gallery to a project it will copy the image, not move it. Aperture will move images that are stored locally in the library but since these images uploaded by friends are only stored on the MobileMe servers, Aperture will make a copy when you drag them to a project.

  • Download MobileMe Gallery Pics to iPhoto Library

I have various MobileMe Galleries that I use to share photos with Friends and Family. Sometimes they add photos as well.
Using my iPhoto I can then download their new photos, that have been added to my gallery. I can create a new Album where they show up - but they do not appear in the full library of all photos.
Can I fix this somehow, or would I need to then export them and reimport them into my iPhoto Library?
    thanks,
    Stefan.

Hi Terence. thanks for your reply. I think that just led me into the right direction.
I usually just added the images from the shared MobileMe Galleries to Albums only. A green plus sign appears, and the show up in the album but not the Library.
If however I drag them from the MobileMe Gallery onto 'Photos' under the Library Tab, the image count in the libraries goes also up. So - even if they are in an album, and can be located locally on my computer, they do not appear in the Library. Drag them on 'Photos' and there they are... Strange.
    But thanks for your help!

  • Portrait oriented photos are not sync'ed to MobileMe gallery

I've tried to upload some pictures of an event to my MobileMe account:
I've selected the photos, clicked on MobileMe and selected the option to allow downloads.
The photos get synced but those photos that were originally taken in portrait mode (and autorotated by the camera or iPhoto) didn't show up in my MobileMe gallery! Also, those missing photos are still flagged as "not yet sync'ed" in the iPhoto preview of the shared gallery. If I disable the option to allow downloads, all photos are uploaded correctly.
Interestingly, it does not help to rotate the portrait photos to landscape mode, they still don't get synced. And landscaped photos that are rotated to portrait are synced normally. It only affects those photos that were originally taken in portrait mode.
(In case it helps: I used a Canon EOS 450D to take those pictures.)
    Best regards,
    RaCha

    RaCha2:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There should be no problem using autorotated photos in a web gallery. This test gallery is composed entirely of auto-rotated photos from a Canon SD700 and all uploaded and displayed as expected. .
First delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder and publish again. Next, if needed, launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options.
You don't want to convert to gifs as they only support 256 colors and would make your photo look poorly.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • IPhoto 11 & MobileMe Gallery

    iPhoto 11 + MobileMe Gallery.
All the iPhoto Albums are shared (synced) with Me Gallery.
I'd like to know what is the best way to have all the changes synced.
For example, when I make changes in an album (add or delete photos) I' d like to have the changes also appear on Me gallery.

I am not happy. I hope the guy who wrote the new codes will just talk with the people who wrote the iPhoto 9 codes and also talk with the guys who wrote the MobileMe Gallery codes. It gives people the impression that the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. This may affect the Apple stock price. Wonder if Steve is aware of the problem; does he use iPhoto 11 and MobileMe; does he permit it; and what is he doing about it. This has been taking way too long to resolve.

  • Is it possible....to save photos from the MobileMe Gallery?

I lost my hard-drive several months back & many photos. However, there are some photos in my MobileMe gallery that were not able to be saved from my old hard-drive... Is there an easy way to pull these photos from the MobileMe Gallery onto my 'new' hard-drive?  I have already changed to iCloud (if that makes a difference).  Thanks in advance for your help!

Yes. There's a new photo sharing site, ZangZing, that can import photos from MobileMe Galleries into albums.  The site allows 2 GB space free like Dropbox.
Just enter the URL for the gallery and import.  You'll get something like this for each gallery:
You can mount your iDisk and go to the iDisk/Web/Sites/_galleries folder on your Desktop and drag each numbered subfolder onto your Desktop.  All of you photos will be in those subfolders within other subfolders.  Each photo will have 3 versions.  If you setup the gallery so visitors could download the photos each photo subfolder will have the full sized image file in it. There will be 3 versions, medium, web and large.  The large.jpg will the the file you will want to keep.  However, you will have to rename each large.jpg file to match the actual file name.

  • Aperture Library and iLife Media Browser - Showing Deleted MobileMe Gallery

I'm currently using Aperture 3.1 and iLife '09 and just noticed that when I try to access the Aperture Library from say iPhoto or Keynote that the list of folders contains two MobileMe folders with my name, one of which contains dupicates of two of my gallery's. Now I deleted all of my MobileMe gallery's to see if I could fix this, but it still shows a MobileMe folder and two gallery's that no longer exist. I even logged out of MobileMe in Aperture, but still in the iLife Media browser the non-existent gallery's are still shown. I even tried deleting all previews and re-generating in Aperture, to see if the sharing information would be updated, but still these phantom gallery's persist. I guess this doesn't cause me any problems, but I would just like to fix it and wondered if anyone else had seen this and knew of a solution? Thanks.

    Hi,
I have a similar problem and have posted about it on this thread:

I'm watching this thread too to see if anyone responds.
    Thanks,

  • Password problem with MobileMe Gallery

I'm having some trouble with configuring a password for my MobileMe gallery. My goal is to restrict access to two or three family members. I am logged into my MobileMe account, and have shared some photos to a gallery inside Aperture. They were successfully published. When I edit the settings of the album, there is an option to configure "Album viewable by". When I proceed to "Edit names and passwords", I add a couple of user names and passwords, and click OK. I'm taken back to the original configuration screen. When I try to edit the names again, just to confirm that they've been recorded, the user list is empty! It's as if the users I added weren't saved. Nor do they show up on the "viewable by" list. I only have the choice of "Everyone" and "Only Me". Is this yet-another-keychain-problem?

I checked out the procedure you described and can confirm what you say. The only names in my list are those created previously in iWeb galleries. These can be deleted in Aperture but not added to.

  • Aperture 2.1.3 fails to post an Album to my MobileMe Gallery

Not sure if this is specific to my MacPro but in 10.5.7 Aperture has consistently failed to post an Album to my MobileMe Gallery. Is anyone else having a problem? I've exported the 53 versions as JPG full size and imported them to iPhoto 9 and created an Album. This has successfully posted the Album on my MobileMe Gallery.
Failure is evidenced by the sudden disappearance of the Album from the MobileMe Album list of titles in Aperture, with nothing registered in MobileMe.
    Any clues gratefully received!

Thanks - Ernie and Pistol! I suspect the the matter of a file version name could be the cause, but I'll have to conduct a careful check of them all in the recalcitrant album. The same Album - once in iPhoto 9 - has posted OK though, and it has the same version names. But there may be differences between iPhoto and Aperture. I think there's a Knowledge Base article about this - will check out later.
Thanks very much for both posts!
