Failure on loading pages with Yosemite-upgrade

After tree upgrades/corrections on Yosemite, my mac still can't upload 100% on some sites.Last correction was done this morning.  Is this a problem for other users, or is it only me?

For Firebug performance, please contact the developer of the add on:

I also understand that this happens with the Web Development Tools. The Performance tool might be able to shed some light on what is taking it a while to load: [https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Tools/Performance]

  • Firefox uses all CPU resources when loading pages with lots of images.

I just installed XP, and when I load pages with a ton of images, say, tumblr, Firefox uses ALL CPU time until it finishes loading.
But because of the slowdown, it takes forever to download all the images.
It's not related to my connection, I've got 15mbit downstream.
I have Win7 on a different partition, and I have never had this problem.
As far as I know, all my drivers and XP are up to date.
I could have an old driver lurking, should I be looking at something specific?
I've tried to find something on Google, but I've not found anything really helpful...

I haven't gotten around to installing antivirus (or anything else, for that matter).
If I watch in Task Manager, Firefox.exe goes to 100% as soon as I load the page.
And no, that guide didn't help much. I don't have any addons or plugins yet, this is a new install.
I got a huge slowdown a bit ago, it's because it was using almost 1.5GB of RAM o_o

  • Safari loading slow with yosemite

Even after this latest update, Safari is loading incredibly slow since the OS X Yosemite upgrade.  Any suggestions as to how to get pages to load faster?  Sometimes they won't even load completely.

Tried clearing the cache, resetting network, switching between ethernet and wifi - still 10-20 sec delays on certain web pages - mostly places I hadn't visited in a while. Same pages loading on Firefox appeared instantly (I tried loading Safari first then Firefox first, each on a "new" page, trying to eliminate a DNS problem). I then wondered if the new “synchronized history” feature that uploads to iCloud could be the culprit.
Everything Apple is busy on Christmas.  So I tried this:
    Open System Preferences
    Select iCloud
    un-Check Safari
I assume this eliminates communication with iCloud every time you navigate to a new page.  Delays are now pretty much gone - seems much faster, even when I navigate to a site that I knew isn’t in the cache (a site I hadn’t visited since clearing).  Hoping that will fix the problem for now.

  • App Store Loading Indefinitely after Yosemite Upgrade

    Hello,
After the Yosemite upgrade, I cannot get the app store to actually load. It just perpetually spins the loading icon next to the < > buttons. I see that I have pending upgrades.
I've tried different internet connections, coffee shops, is there a workaround? I really don't want to "restore" my OS unless I have to.

    I had similar problems.
I noticed that there where a lot of other applications than App store that were struggling with internet connectivity as well. I was using Wifi at the time.
So I thought; maybe its not a problem with the apps, but with the Wifi.. Sure enough, as soon as i plugged my laptop into the router with a cable, everything worked a 100%.
When I switched back to wifi, it went back to the previous crappy state.
But it seems like I managed to fix this as well, while being connected to Wifi and no cable:
    -Go to System preferences
    -Network
-On the top of the window, there is a drop down menu for switching "location".
    -Select Automatic
And that did the trick for me.. My location was set to something else than "Automatic", some Netflix trickery I've done a long time before updating to Yosemite...
Hope this can help you as well:-)

  • Safari & Firefox: Won't load pages with images

Everything was working fine one night, and then the next, I couldn't load any pages with graphics. The one caveat: Google loads without a problem, even a Google image search. Every other site, including Apple.com, either won't load at all, or will begin to load until it encounters and image, and then hangs. Thoughts?
I've seen similar posts, but none of them really apply, and the only one that did, didn't have an answer.

Every other site, including Apple.com, either won't load at all, or will begin to load until it encounters and image, and then hangs.
You're saying that, in addition to images not loading, pages are loading slowly or not at all, as well?
If this is the case, then the problem isn't isolated to images. It sounds more like a problem accessing web pages altogether.
As a troubleshooting measure, try setting fixed DNS addresses, either in your router's configuration or in System Preferences -> Network. For the latter, click on the network connection that you use, e.g. "Airport" or "Ethernet," then click on the Configure button. Click on the TCP/IP tab and enter a pair of fixed DNS addresses in the section with that label, as follows:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
You can copy and paste those directly from this forum into that DNS address field.
(Those are OpenDNS addresses, available for use by anyone. DNS addresses are the addresses of servers that tell your web browser where to look when you type a web page address in your web browser.)
If that doesn't work, the problem lies somewhere else. But your symptoms (slow or no page loads; and even when pages load, images not loading) sound a lot like the DNS problems I had before I started using alternate DNS addresses.

  • Has anyone had problem with Yosemite upgrade in mac air startup?

Since Yosemite upgrade my Mac Air has been slow to start up compared to to previous OS's.  I have been patient in waiting for a fix or an explanation.  If it is an accepted startup procedure, ok, but explain it.  The sales pitch still sell the notebook as a quick startup, a second.  Please advise if it is mine or an accepted OS quirk.  Thank you.

    Hanna,
Is this a slow white progress bar on a black screen boot slowness, or afterwards, including while the Desktop appears?
I suggest looking into your System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items tab. See if Safari is in the list, or something that wants to open a web link, and this launches the browser. You can remove these with the - button below the listing.
I have a 2014 MBA that was upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite 10.10.1. It didn't boot in a second with Mavericks either. That is an unrealistic boot performance expectation. It does however boot to a Finder Desktop within 12 seconds, and that is good enough for me. Wake from Sleep is one second.

  • Custom font go crazy with Yosemite upgrade

    Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing a very unpleasant consequence of Yosemite upgrade: I've been creating and using personal fonts for years, and they seem to go crazy with the new system when printing some text.
The text's display on my screen is correct (in Text Edit, Mellel & Nisus), but printing reveals strong issues: the spacing of letters isn't correct, and the text appears much smaller than it should be. All of my fonts are PostScript ones. My printer's driver is up to date.
If you can think of any suggestion, please share it with me!
    Best regards,
    2SSophie

Having the same crippling issue as you and no soluce yet. When are Apple people going to pass on the info ? this is a heavy nusty bug

  • Photo Screen Saver not functioning with Yosemite Upgrade

Recently I upgraded my MacBook Pro to Yosemite. I have always used a folder in iPhoto for my screen saver via system preferences. Ever since the upgrade this folder will no longer function as the screen saver.  The screen saver option in System Preferences always defaults to Apples National Geographic photos that is installed with Yosemite. After I select the folder I want I "preview" the screen saver and my photos are there. Once the screen saver kicks itself in, the NG photos are there and the system settings are back to NG photos and not my photos. Now, I will admit the NG photos are far above my photos, but I really prefer my photos. Is Apple evaluating photo quality on the screen savers? Kidding - any ideas?

    I have the same issue.
Try this. I think this has worked for me. Only time will tell.

Close all windows and quit all applications.
Hold the option key down and click the "Go" menu in the Finder menubar.
Select "Library" from the dropdown, then "Preferences" folder.
    Look for these two files.
    com.apple.desktop.plist
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist
Right click each  one of those and select " Move To Trash" from the contextual menu.
    Restart the computer.

  • Less than two week old iPad Air crashes with youtube/netflix and Safari when loading pages with video (i.e. Buzzfeed with links to youtube and vine). What's up with iPad Air's bugs with videos??

Week and a half old iPad Air crashes with light usage of youtube, netflix and safari pages with video links to youtube and vine. The consistency of problems with videos has led me to determine that it must be bugs with iPad Air. Anyone else having this problem?
Details: iPad Air 16gb wifi, have only used about 25% of space and always close all apps before opening another. I also have only had a max of two tabs open on safari of basic internet surfing (i.e. A google search page, or imdb for example). These crashes are annoying as sh......

I can well imagine that they are.
I would backup, restore to factory settings, restore from the backup and then try again. If that fails, restore again but do not use the backup - restore as new. If the iPad functions OK as new, then slowly rebuild the iPad adding your apps, music etc, methodically to see if you can pin down what might be causing the problem.
if all of that fails, it's time to schedule an appointment at an Apple a Store (must be done online) and have them take a look, or of it is lees than two weeks old, just return it for a refund and buy another one.

  • Another Win7 Bootcamp failure with Yosemite upgrade (missing 34 GB)

I've been reading what others have been doing per Loner T's instructions, but I'm a bit unclear on the ultimate goal, particularly when using testdisk and looking for "familiar files."  I'm hoping for some instructions on how to recover my Win7 partition.  I'm running a testdisk deeper search, but again I'm not sure what I'm looking for in that program or if I've followed the correct selections.  Here are the outputs from the 4 commands that Loner T has said to provide...
Huge thanks in advance for any help.

So here's the results of a Quick Search:
    Inside the MS Data selection:
The top MS Data and the bottom one both show "Can't open filesystem" when I use P: list files, but the middle one (size = 191678457) has that System Volume Information file you mentioned in the thread, along with some other recognizable file names, though there are a few key programs I had installed that I don't see, but I'm hoping they'll still be there when we recover the partition.  Here's that file highlighted, and I put red boxes around what I think are the "start" and "end," are those correct?
In the other thread, you go on to say "If this is the only MS data entry..." but I have 3 I think, so will I need to do something different than fhornedo?

  • Safari won't load pages with pictures after installing Maverick

I have an older iMac (2008), but it runs great and I have no problems with it.  Except now that i installed Maverick, now Safari doesn't work properly.  For most things, it works fine, then It will quit in the middle of a page.  Or, I have uploaded photos to the Walmart site and had pictures printed.  I can now access everything on that site except my photos and projects.  I get all the background ads and stuff, but not the actual photos.  That part of the page is blank.  There is not eeven the box with the question mark.  I kow they are still there because I can open them with Chrome.  I have tried all the tips I can find here, plus, I have tried Customer support for the website I am having problems with.  The CS people tell me it probably is a temporary problem, but I don't think they are Mac peaple.  So, far, nothing I have tried has helped.  I did have this same type of problem when I upgraded the last time, but was able to fix the problem.  Just wish I could remember how I fixed it.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Cannot open iMovie 10.0.6 with Yosemite upgrade on 2014 Macbook Air

I updated OS X to Yosemite and noticed I cannot open iMovie.  Updated both iPhoto & iMovie and it still is not working giving me error message, "You can’t use this version of the application “iMovie” with this version of OS X."  " You have iMovie 10.0", even though I just updated to 10.0.6
I restarted few times, updated both iPhoto and iMovie . . . still not opening from dock.
    This is running on MacBook Air 2013  w/ 2Ghz i7 w/ 8G memory...
    OK, now what?
    thank you!!

I just tried to open iMovie for the first time since upgrading to Yosemite and it tries to load all my projects and then crashes out with a error.  It will not open at all.

I upgraded Yosemite on our two MAC Minis. When completing the second download, I realised that there were 21 Extensions on the page when I scrolled down. I missed these on the first MAC download! I have searched all over MAC and Google etc. but can't find where to download these extensions for the second MAC. Can anyone tell me please?

And in your opinion would you Upgrade to the Flashed card. Is there any card you prefer?
I've already told you my machine specs.  Here they are again:
Dual bootable, DP MDD 1.25GHz G4 (2004), maxed out at 2GB of RAM, both Spotlight and Dashboard disabled, Photoshop primary scratch disk on dedicated 160GB internal drive, at least 100GB available on each of the four internal drives, up to 300GB on some.  Counting external FW drives just over 1TB of drive space available.  "Mutant", flashed nVidia GeForce 7800 GS 425MHz 256 MB graphics display card. Processor napping enabled through CHUD 3.5.2.
You're going to have to look very hard for a flash card, specifically one that fits your 4x AGP video cars slot.  Make sure the seller gives you a warranty and assurance that the card will work in your specific machine and that it has at least 256MB of VRAM.  I got mine from MacGeniuses on eBay, but they sweem no loner agtive.  Others hav had good luch with a seller by the name of applemacanix, or something like that, also on eBay.

Don't forget that there is a trial version of CS4 that you can download for free and run it for 30 days.

  • HT202337 list all-day events in day view on Mac icalendar with Yosemite upgrade

Before I upgraded to Yosemite, I loved that the day view of the iCalendar on the Mac showed all the calendar events (including all-day events) in a list view. Now that I have upgraded, the day view shows in the same format as week view with timed events primarily displayed and all-day events at the top in a small section with a scroll bar.  I use all-day events a lot, and would much prefer the list of events (including all-day events) when looking at the day view!  (It is this way on the iPhone, but no longer on the Mac icalendar.)  How can I get back to this listed events in the day view?? Or if not, is there a way to move down the bar underneath the all-day events section (to show more of the all-day events at a time)? PLEASE? Help??  Thank you in advance!!
