Failure to Burn due to menu length

My project for DL DVD completes the process to burn but hangs up at writing lead in and won't continue. My blank disk is kicked out. I get no error messages, but the bar regarding menu length is red. How do I reduce the menu length without shortening my overall movie. Can I remove the video from the menu and use picture icons to reduce length? If so do I need to delete encoding assets before trying to burn the dvd again? I am using a 5.0 idvd theme.

The problem usually is that you have used a long movie clip in a menu drop zone (say a 15 minute clip) - even though you only display a short segment of the movie (say 30 seconds), the entire 15 minutes is included.
Shorten your menu clips to say a minute or two.

  • Failure to burn CD error message

Everything has been working fine until recently when every CD that is burned only records the first 5-6 songs and then ejects the CD and the message "failure to burn CD error" message is displayed.

I don't think this problem has been "answered". The problem is random. Sometimes I burn with no problem. This morning my first burn worked fine. Then I had 4 failures in a row. Tried changing nothing. Tried changing burn speed. Eventually I am now having a sucessful burn. Thank goodness that it does not ruin the blank but it seems to be increasing in frequency. Why doesn't apple address this problem? I see hundreds of posts with the same problem. Many are archived. Some like this thread claim to answered. But the problem is that, in my experience, the problem comes and goes. Sometimes I have sucess without changing anything after a failure. Today I quit iTunes and when I started it up again it failed once and now its just finished a sucessful burn. I'm burning the same playlist each time of unprotected music but I notice no difference whether I'm burning purchased music, ripped music, downloaded music, aiff, aac, acc protected, mpeg or a mixture of same.

  • Menu Length

I'm using DVD Studio Pro 4, and I have a question about menu length. I went with an already made template -- Brush Cover (where it uses a paintbrush to draw something). How do I keep the menu there after that? The entire thing lasts 24 seconds, and at 24 seconds, it disappears and repeats. I want it to stay there at least until the 1 minute mark before it does this.
I changed Duration on the bottom right window, but it still repeats even though the menu's now a minute long. Is it possible to extend it?
    Thank you.

You'll need to edit the assets used to create the menu if you want to extend it. Look in your assets tab and find the item for the menu, then control+click and select 'Reveal in Finder'. This should take you to where it is stored, but note this is part of a package of items!
Make a copy of the template before you edit anything. Use Quicktimne or FCP to edit the item and save it back in to to the template.
However, you have a bit of an issue with that particular item as it is a .pox file. If you 'reveal in finder' the background.tif, you should see the .pox folder. Follow that through to the materials and you'll find the QT asset. I have not played with this, so it may not work... the .pox files are not generally editable. Let us know how you get on with it.

I really appreciate the fast sent solution about my failure to burn DVDs with Lion, but I am 89 years old and think I know something about computers, but don't have a clue about ZAPPing PRAM nor RESET SMC.  I also can't find any evidence of a preserved earlier OS (Snow Leopard).  I also don't know how to partition further my drive after all this time…(I used to have Parallels partitioned) but as I said I cannot find any where on the HD SN.  Is it possible that it doesn't exist anymore?  Not too technical, please, unless that is the only possible answer to this whole delemna..

  • Export failure due to column length in DRM 11.1.2.1

    Hi All,
We have migrated recently from 11.1.1.43 to 11.1.2.1 and the issue is with one of the exports
In the earlier version you have the option of manipulating the column length inspite of the actual length set in the table column. This can be edited in the column options when the table is selected at the last option of export.
Now the issue is i could see the length of the column in the 11.1.2.1 export option but i was unable to edit that length and reduce it to the required
Viz., i have the column length of 80 set in the table and in the export it is restricted to 50 in the old version. Now i'm unable to edit this in 11.1.2.1
Could anyone help me on this? I believe i may be missing some basics here
    Thanks

In the earlier versions by default every property length is treated as 50 Characters while we export the data from DRM,
Now in the new version we need to alter the table before we export based on the property length,
    Thanks,
    Murali

  • Fastest/simple way to burn DVD- no menu?

To burn DVD's at work - I normally use an external DVD recorder at work- Play down clip, hit record, done.
At home I only have the Quad and FCP studio.
I have a simple 3 minute clip in FCP.
I exported a QT to the desktop.
I want to burn a DVD. No menus. Nothing.
I have never used idvd or dvd studio.
Is there a way to perform a simple drag/drop and burn?
    Thanks

Open DVD SP - drag the QT onto the Menu which is 'First Play'
Hit the yellow and black icon at the top to burn.

  • Picture refuses to burn in main menue screen

I have tried repeatedly to burn a project with "pixel aspect ratio" settings of D1/DV Ntsc Widescreen 16:9 (1.2121). Everything burns well except the jpg picture from my files that I have inserted in the main menue is missing. The picture appears ok in the layout screen, but is totally black in the finshed DVD. I have been successful in inserting a video file from within the project, but the jpg picture, which also is in the project, will not burn in the main menue picture insert area. Can anyone help me know why this is happening and how to fix it.

This is a Bug in PrE 9.
This THREAD (plus several others) goes into more detail on the issue.
Unfortunately, the new PrE 9.0.1 update did not fix this.
    Sorry for the bad news,

  • I'm trying to burn a Iphoto slideshow to DVD but the "burn" in the menu isn't active?

I'm trying to burn a slideshow to a DVD but it isn't hightlighted in the menu?  Any ideas.  Also, is there a way to put captions under a photo that show up in the slide show?
    Thanks,
    Michael Quinn

To burn a Slideshow you DVD for viewing on a domestic DVD player you need to use an app that with author the disk to the correct format.
Macs used come with iDVD for this purpose - accessed by going Share -> iDVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have this then you need to get such an app, then export the slideshow from iPhoto. This will make a movie of it, then add it to your DVD project.

  • Premiere Elements 13 unable to burn due to "insufficient" space, even tho there's 200 GB of space

I loaded an mp4 into Premiere Elements 13, on Windows 7 64 bit pc, 16 GB RAM.  i tried to burn it to HDD and DVD. it said 3.3 GB needed.  my HDD has 200 GB free, yet both burns said: INSUFFICIENT DISK SPACE ON DRIVE FOR CREATING TEMPORARY BURNING FILES.
    what's wrong?

    tomblastoff
The answer should be in the message that you presented
INSUFFICIENT DISK SPACE ON DRIVE FOR CREATING TEMPORARY BURNING FILES
emphasis on "temporary burning files". That points you to the "Encoded Files Folder" in the 13.0 Folder.
For Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer in use
    Libraries/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Elements/13.0
You would be amazed at how much activity goes on there during a burn to.
Check Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks and Disc Encoding to verify the location of the Encoded Files Folder and how much free
space is there. Then, during a burn to, look at the activity in the Encoded Files Folder as the burn to progresses.
    Please review and consider.
    Thank you.

  • IPhoto can't do burn from Share menu

    Hi!
My neighbour came round and asked me to burn a CD of her children that I have in my photo library.
I usually drag them all into a folder and burn from the desktop.
Today I decided to look under the Share option and it said "Burn"
I selected it and after a few secs a message appeared "No devices are available for burning"
I find this funny, as not only do I have a Superdrive installed, but also have a DL LaCie DVD/CD writer installed.
Why is it doing this, and how can I correct it?
    Thanks in advance

    Rob:
Does your neighbor have a Mac and iPhoto? If not then you don't want to use the Share->Burn option. That's only for using with iPhoto. You should use the File->Export->File Export menu route and export to a mounted, blank CD.

  • Failure running IP due to missing entry in RSSDBATCH

I am getting failures of some IPs due to the fact that there is no entry in table RSSDBATCH for the IP.
The IPs are set to 'Start Data load immediately', it is the first time these IPs have been run on this system. I have tried DataSource replication and reactivation of transfer rules and this has made no difference.
We are on SAP NetWeaver 2004s.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

Well, it's kind of logical that as you put more jar files (classes) in Tomcat, it changes the error to ask for the classes (inside a jar) it cannot find.
There was a good class->jar finder on the internet some years ago, but i don't remember the address. Try looking for that and search all the missing classes (NotDefined) and their correspondig jar files.
    Good Luck!

  • IDVD encoding causes system failure during burn process

I have iDVD 5 on my work computer (dual 2.7Ghz G5 / 2.5 G RAM), and have burned successfully before my current project.
My current project has a 28:45 movie and I have tried two different themes with different combinations of drop zones (one with the movie as the drop zone and one with stills only) and everything previews okay, but when I start the burn process it will get to a certain point in the encoding and then the whole system crashes. I come back to check on the process, and my screen is filled with black squares with error info in it... (looks like a DOS screen or something) and it says something about system failure and that I need to restart my computer.
I'm so stubborn that I keep trying different combinations of possibilities but I'm having no luck. The movie that it's hangin up on was captured in Final Cut Pro from a VHS, edited in Final Cut to trim the excess black, and exported as a Final Cut Movie that I imported into iDVD.
As I said above, I have burned successfully on this computer and this iDVD, so the fact that this one project refuses to burn is perplexing.
    any thoughts?

A gap in video would be a space between one clip and another. This is a problem when you are editing your footage, not capturing it. In other words, it is a user introduced problem.
In FCP when you say "Ignore Timecode Breaks" it just means to continue capturing video even if there is a timecode break. If you do not select this option, FCP would immediately stop catpturing whenever it hit a timecode break. A timecode break is not the same thing as a gap you create during editing. A timecode break could be as simple as rewinding your camera footage and then recording over it... the timecode now has a break because it is not continuous timecode, it jumps from one timecode to another.
Depending on what device you are capturing from, your audio may come in a few frames before or after the video. This would be especially true for a non-controllable device. It is a simple fix to adjust this as you would have noticed any sync issues right in the timeline during playback.
A system reboot in the middle of encoding is a serious crash... I doubt if it is the footage per se that is causing this to happen. Footage has been known to force an application to abort a process (or stay in an infinite loop), but an actual system shutdown would be extremely rare.
Consider recapturing the footage into a new FCP project and then creating a new iDVD project for it, this will eliminate either a corrupted FCP file or an iDVD project from the equation. Also, are you burning directly to disc or are you preparing a disc image? I'd go with the disc image approach because you can test your final build that way.

  • Sub Picture Problems HD project to SD build/burn for DVD Menu

    Encore CS5 on OSX
Created a project for HD Blu-Ray that has sub pictures for buttons that work wonderfully when built and burned on Blu-ray, but when I use the same project and build and burn to SD DVD, the sub pictures are visible as horizontal lines with no chroma.  This issue is prevelent in stand alone players, both blu-ray and DVD, but when played in the computer DVD player they are fine.  Any ideas on how to fix this?
    Thx

Thanks, yes I kept the same HD menus and output to DVD.
    >>> Bill Hunt <[email protected]> 06/09/10 5:38 PM >>>
    Welcome to the forum.
Did you keep the same HD Menus, and just Output to DVD, or did you alter your Menus for the SD Project?
Can you post a screen-cap of your Menu in PS, with the Layers Palette open, so that we can see the look of the Sub-picture Highlights?
    Good luck,

  • Burn without a menu

What's the best way (using IDVD5) to burn a DVD without a menu so that it will start playing immediately when opened? Can you do the same thing with Toast?

I FOUND THIS INFO IN ROXIO AND IT WORKED FOR ME - I FINALLY CAN MAKE iMovies from Toast without Menus and without converting the entire movie to Quicktime which freezed. Good Luck on the following:
How do I export an iMovie project to be used in Toast 6?
    Solution:
If you are using iMovie HD (iMovie 5):
    1. Quit iMovie and save the iMovie project you are working on.
    2. Control-click on the saved project file and choose "SHOW PACKAGE CONTENTS" from pop-up menu.
    3. Open the "iDVD" folder in the "Shared Movies" folder.
    4. Drag and drop the iMovie reference file into the Toast video window.
The reference file will have .mov after the name and include the word "movie" in the icon.
