Failure to connect - host not responding

I've been video conferencing regularly with my mother in Fla with no problems. We both have macs with mac accounts. I recently tried to initiate a video conference with my in-laws in N.C. and it wouldnt work. They have a PC with an AIM account. Thier AV icon appears active on my buddy list. I can invite them to a video conference, they see the invite and accept, I can see they've accepted but then the connection fails saying that I (the host) did not respond???? How can that be, since I invited them. By the way, this is the same error I get when I try contacting another friend with a PC and AIM account. Any suggestions? Your assistance would be deeply appreciated.
...by the way, I'm in China but as I said this hasnt effected my ability to video conference with FLA.
Thanks again -al

HI Al,
Welcome to the Apple Discussion Pages.
The minimum connection speed needed by iChat to chat to other iChat users is now listed as 100kbps
In iChat 2 this figure was the realistic figure for Video chats.
It was known however that iChat to PC chats did better if the connection speed was at least 150kbps (at both ends)
What do you have ?

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

You stated that you can ping ACS from the router, did you try sourcing the packets from the GigabitEthernet 0/0 interface (which is the one TACACS+ will try to use, given the configuration that you posted)?
What does the network path between the router and ACS look like (ie, any firewalls, NAT, etc)?
Can you connect to port 49 at the ACS IP address from the router sourcing the packets from GigabitEthernet 0/0 ?
    Are you using VRFs?
    What version of IOS?

  • Connection Status: not Responding SCVMM '08

I just installed SCVMM 2008 on a Windows 2008 x64 server with Hyper-V RC0 Enabled. From the console on the server it says "Needs Attention" and when I double click on it, it says
    Connection Status: Not Responding
    Agent Version: Up to Date
    Virtualization Status: Unknown
    Virtualization Service Version: Up-to-Date
The firewall is turned on for public network only, and I can connect to manage that box with the hyper-v mmc snap-in for Vista. Why is SCVMM not connecting to it? I rebooted the server after install and still can't get it to work correctly. It sees my VMs on the server but I can't connect to them either.
    Thanks,
    Chris

I'm having very similar erros, I have read all posted blogs in this thread and followed all instructions with no luck.
    This is what Im getting;
    Error (2912)
An internal error has occurred trying to contact an agent on the virtualqa1.PFDOMAIN.prairiefyre.com server.
    (Unknown error (0xc0000bbf))
    Recommended Action
Ensure the agent is installed and running. Ensure the WS-Management service is installed and running, then restart the agent.
    Connection Status: Not Responding
    Agent Status: Responding
    Agent Version: Up-to-Date
    Virtualization service status: Running
    Virtualization service version: Up-to-Date
    I have already applied KB956589 and KB956774.
I did have a USB External Drive connected to the Host, which I have disconnected and have rebooted the host afterwards.
I have installed SCVMM 2008 RTM Server on my Host machine, which is the Hyper-V server.
I have also setup the SCVMM tracing according to the post in this thread. Here is what I see:

  • Host Not Responding and Needs Assistance

I have a VMM 2012 R2 Cluster based on two nodes.  Both nodes have similar hardware configuration.  When I move the VMM Cluster to Node 2, I face an issue of
Host Not Responding and Needs Assistance on almost all Hyper-V Host Servers.  But, When I move the Cluster to Node 1 off VMM, everything starts working and works undisturbed for days.  What could be different
between two hosts that can cause such a behavior that causes connection loss and thus the above error in the console.  How can I identify what is different in the first node from second node?

  • Unable to connect, server not responding

    Hello,
We've resurrected a machine running 10.4.x from the dead back into use but it isn't happy with our network. It is configured correctly as far as I can tell. It responds to pings, can browse websites, and can mount other drives; however, when I try to mount the 10.4.x machine's drive from another machine I get the following:
"Unable to connect - server not responding." Which I know is completely untrue after testing ping.
I only entered the ip address in the Go > Connect to Server dialog. When attempting to connect from another machine I see a little more output:
"The finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "afp://10.0.1.7" could not be read or written. (Error code -36)"
I am lost here, any help or observations are highly appreciated.

Hi kssi89, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Well, in pure Apple File System talk... -36 ioErr I/O error (bummers)
Not very helpful, but generally means a Drive quit being Readable or Writable since starting the operation...
    http://fuzzy.wordpress.com/2006/12/10/ioerror-36/
But, in this instance I think it's not even starting to.
Assuming Personal File Sharing is on on that machine & Internet Sharing is OFF, I might try trashing these, reboot and set it up again...

  • Host Not Responding

A number of our standalone VM host servers have encountered this problem following an upgrade from SCVMM 2008 to 2012.
Not all of the servers have this issue (our server clusters for example are working fine.) We have been trying to find a working solution for this for awhile now without success. Deleting and re-adding the host servers in VMM has not worked either.
We have followed the instructions in the error that is presented (and that I have attached as a screenshot) but this has not helped either.
Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello Wytecastl,
Can you follow the instructions on the following link about your issue?
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/jonjor/archive/2008/12/29/how-to-troubleshoot-slow-bits-performance-hosts-not-responding-and-needs-attention-communication-issues.aspx
That should solve your problem or identify problem.
    Sincerely,

  • Host not responding ESXi 5.5 and HA messages

    hi guys
Lately I've been troubleshooting an issue with ping lost for my ESXi Servers. Network people tested all and they say is not networking.
These two servers are in a blade center - ibm - and they HS23, having Emulex and Broadcom NICs (Emulex OneConnect 10Gb NIC (be3), Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5709S 1000Base-SX). Servers firmware is up to date and NICs and driver for NICs were updated yesterday and the issue is the same... continue ping lost
and today and I found repetitive "host not responding messages" like every 2 - 3 hours
and a lot of these too HA related as you can see below?
Any idea what logs do I have to check? for the ping lost and HA issue?
    thanks a lot

Note: Discussion successfully moved from VMware ESXi 5 to Availability: HA & FT

  • Get messagewhen syncing iphone no longer connected or not responding

I have tried to transfer ringtones from my computer or memory stick to my iphone. These ringtones were previously on this phone but are gone. Each time I try to sync them again, I get the message "your iphone is no longer connected or is not responding". It is physiaclly connected so I'm losing connection internally. How do I fix this problem?

If you are using a USB hub for the iPhone, don't. If you are using a front port on a desktop or tower computer, don't.

after i exit from settings, it still shows 'Settings' application as running but it never responds.

Hi, when did this start to happen? After installing anything specific to it - 3rd party apps, themes, settings etc?

  • WIndows 8.1 Direct Access Client Needs to approve external wifi use before it connects - proxy not responding

Ok So I have windows 8.1 with Direct Access Client and it works fine when I am able to check and uncheck proxy settings - which is a bit of a pain and seems unnecessary (I hope). If I take the laptop to a Starbucks I get the error that the proxy server is
not responding so it never redirects for me to "accept" the rules.
If I uncheck my proxy settings it then redirects and connects to their internet wifi and off I go - DA connects and all is well.
I am using a GPO to configure the proxy settings as shown (all options are greyed out for the users)

    Hi,
Your problem is a classic one when using that kind of proxy settings, unfortunately.
To solve this without the need of user interaction, there are two solutions that will sort this out for you. In your case, if you want to use your corporate connection for internet traffic even over da, I'd opt for alternative 1 or 2 depending on what you are
    trying to achieve.
    1. WPAD (Web Proxy Auto Discovery protocol http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_Proxy_Autodiscovery_Protocol) - it actually uses the Automatic browser configuration checkbox on your client and looks for the file wpad.dat on a specific web server that you Pointout
with either dns-record called wpad or DHCP option 252.
    2. Auto configuration script (pac script http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proxy_auto-config) - uses the same kind of file as above. The difference is that you get the possiblity, like you want in your scenario to target what users that should get the script.
See this below article for more details on the options you have.

    Regds,

    Anup,
the entry sapmsDEV is missing in your "services"-file on the computer that hosts your SLD-Server/J2EE WAS. Windows locates it at %WINDIR%/system32/drivers/etc, unix usually at /etc/.
    make an entry like that:
sapmsDEV   3600/tcp (in case, your Systemnumber is 00, otherwise replace the "00" with your actual systemnumber)

  • SSH - Failure to connect, does not prompt for password,

I have been using SSH on this iMac with 10.5.4 for over a year, upgraded to Leopard when it came out, never a problem with SSH, but now for no apparent reason, SSH fails when trying to connect through VPN into work.
I can still connect to other systems on the internet that are not through the VPN.
I don't suspect this to be a VPN issue because no other employees are having this problem with the VPN, using Mac, Windows or Linux. I can connect vi putty on my windows from the same network... below is my config.
    Here is what I'm getting:
I connect as- ssh me@hostname and it returns "Permission denied (publickey)." It makes to attempt to prompt me for a password. I do not use a key on this system so it should prompt me for a password. I changed nothing on the system to cause ssh to break, But it's possible that a apple security update caused something to break.

  • WRT610N Loses Internet connection, does not respond - with HP Mediasmart HomeServer plugged in

OK - this makes no sense to me - and I consider myself somewhat technical.   Hopefully it will make sense to someone else.
I have a new WRT610N v2 (2.00.00.B05) with 3-6 computers (Vista, W7) attached wired and wireless to them at any point in time.  I also have an HP Mediasmart EX470 (Windows Homeserver) attached to the network to back them all up.  Everything worked great with a WRT54G - but I wanted Gigabit.
Every moring since I got the router, I found it completely unresponsive - all lights on, all systems with IP addresses, etc. - but the router was not communicating with the Internet - and it would not connect newly booted computers, etc.
This happened with my original v1 - so I had it replaced - and I replaced my cable modem as well.  I now have an Ambit uc1018.80.
Rather than pushing the reset button today and going through the reconfig process; I tried unplugging network cables to see if it would have an effect.  I unplugged the homeserver - and my cable modem "send" light flashed - I was connected (I could browse, etc.)  I plugged it back in - and everything went dead - no more send light on the cable modem - and no more internal network traffic either.
I rebooted the homeserver - and everything now works - until, I expect,  the next night.  The homeserver is a HP EX470 Mediasmart with a memory upgrade (2gb) and a processor upgrade (AMD 1640).  It is running Windows Home Server Powerpack 3 (HP Update 1.2.1) with the following addons (PacketVideo PVConnect 4.4.4, Microsoft Homeserver Toolkit 1.1 (6.0.1800.0); and McAfee Total protection 5.0.0.648-patch003).  I do not have remote access settings configured.
The homeserver is configured to backup all computers on the network overnight - most of the time they complete successfully - last night one of them failed.
The homeserver has a SiS191 1000/100/10 adapert running at 1000 (DHCP) driver version 2.0.1039.1070 dated 12/20/2006.  I am going to look for a newer driver - but it does not make sense that one computer can render a router unresponsive - does it?  Any ideas?
    Thanks....

Here's an update - it looks like it might have somewith to do with DHCP and IPv6....
Testing steps taken - notice that changes in ipconfig/all output is IPv6 related...
    1. Router set to factory defaults and re-configured.
    2. All systems rebooted and connected to router.
    3. All works well for several hours.
    4. Cable Modem send light goes out - all network access from client computers ceases.
    5. WHS cable disconnected from router - all client network traffic starts working and continue to work for several days without WHS connected.

    11. Unplug WHS server cable from router - for network stability until this issue is fixed.
I know very little about IPv6 - but this looks like it is IPv6 related - is it?  Any ideas as to next steps?
    Note:
    1. I can't remove IPV6 from all clients - the configuration of one client computer is not under my control.
    2. I am thinking of either setting the WHS server to a static IP address - or enabling IPv6 on it - but it would be great to be working from a position of knowledge that blindly trying things...any isight would be appreciated...
    Thanks,
