Failure to Export as Quicktime

Hello, looking for some kind help... Never had any problems with this before so i'm stumped. Everytime i try to export my movie, "the program final cut pro has quit". Does this have anything to do with multip[le dropped frame rates which occured frequently during my editing? And if so how can i correct all this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I'd try the usual steps, trashing prefs, logging into another account...etc...

  • How can I export via QuickTime in iMovie '13 (10.0)?

Prior versions of iMovie had an export via QuickTime option, which allowed me to select the file format, encoding settings, etc. After upgrading to the new iMovie, that appears to have gone away. The Share -> File option does not allow me that level of control over the output file. Has that functionality been removed from iMovie?

I'm also having trouble with this. The new version of iMovie lost a lot of its features and is clearly focused toward the social media side of things. After importing using SD cameras that import video in a *square* PiP format, I am finding it impossible to update any of my settings to export the video in any other format that wouldn't cut out the picture. Basically, the only settings I've found in the share option of the iMovie 10.0 cu off the tops and bottoms of all my recording. Previously, I used QuickTime settings to pick what format and quality I wanted to export in. Does anyone have any insight about how to export using, say, a 640 x 480 format or in being able to adjust to any format other than the standard ones giving.
Is there any other video software I can be using to import and export with that gives me more functionality?

  • Error code = -50 every time I try and publish or export (except Quicktime)

When I try and do any kind of publish or export (other than "Export using Quicktime") it will say "preparing" then will immediately go to a dialog that says:
Unable to prepare the project for publishing. The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (Error code = -50)
I have no idea what next.

I go to file and export then a window appears with file export, webpage, quicktime and slideshow.  On my mini I have shutterfly as an option and don't remember how to do it.  What do I do to input this info so that shutterfly becomes an option

    Hi Barbara
Are your photos in iPhoto or are you using some other Photo Software?
The latest version of iPhoto is a lot different than iPhoto 6 for example. In iPhoto 06 you could burn the Originals from your User Picture Folder using Finder, while in iPhoto 11 it is best to burn them from within the iPhoto Application.
Open iPhoto and select the Event(s) that you want to burn onto the CD, then select Share on the menu bar and click Burn in the drop down.

Then again, maybe you got a bad batch of blank CD's and need to try another?

  • I can't export to QuickTime, it gives message "Codec not found."

I have long sequence, in which I have some Channel Swap effects.  I get an error message saying it can't be rendered for a sequence this long (72 minutes) with my hardware (2009 iMac running OS 10.6.8).  When I try to export to QuickTime, it tells me "Codec not found." I'm trying to export to Apple Pro Res HQ.  What should I do?  I took out the Channel Swap effects and didn't get the message anymore in the sequence, but I'm afraid the codec issue will crop up again, even though I changed it to Apple Pro Res in the Render Options tab under Sequence settings, rather than just "Same as Sequence".  Eventually, I will have to export to HQ, and I'm not sure this codec lets me do that.  Help!

You don't give any details about your format or sequence settings, so I'll be general here.
    Just a couple of observations...
The only time limitation messages I've seen (in the last decade) have been resource-oriented, not NLE constraints so if your system doesn't like a 72-minute sequence I'd be looking at drive space or something like that. Have you tried outputting two 36-minute pieces?
I don't understand your logic in using the sequence codec option (which is limited to two specific formats) to control output of the sequence rather than the output "same as sequence" dropdown) options. Personally, I don't use either, I output the sequence as is and transcode in Compressor.
Simple as it sounds, "Codec not found" generally means exactly that, so I'd be looking at whether the codecs need to be re-installed.
    Hope this helps

  • Export in QuickTime with "Only Hyperlink"

Hallo! I've a problem! When export in QuickTime from KeyNote, setting "Only hyperlink", the keys with the
action back do not only work while next it works. This happens even if inserts the numeration of the page. Can you help me??!!! Thank you very much!

OK, I may have found the source of the problem: when i tried to play the movie file that I had inserted in Keynote on my PC, Quicktime asked for a codec. In Movie Inspector, I saw that the video was encoded in FLV1...
Any idea where I can get this codec for QT WIndows (I'm searching for it and haven't found it yet)

  • File type for export as quicktime movie

I thought I read here that "Export as Quicktime Movie" produces a .mov file (although without the extension). I'm using Brightcove to host our videos, and their publishpod says it accepts .mov files, but doesn't seem to work with the file from FCE. Is it really a .mov? Or do I need to export using Quicktime Conversion (and burn up lots more time in the process?)

    Thanks...
I did search the forum and nothing addressed my specific issue. Sorry if I didn't phrase my question clearly.
Anyway, I suspect the problem is that the Brightcove software does not work well with the Apple Intermediate Codec. I had no problem with a .mov exported with H.264 compression. This adds extra time to my workflow, but I suspect it will be a necessary evil.

Try Mixing Down the audio before export.

  • Cannot export to Quicktime anymore. Please help.

    Hi all,
I did some maintenance on my computer recently and now I can no longer export to Quicktime format.  The maintenance involved deleting old footage plus a bunch of "Media Cache Files," which were taking up nearly 90 gigs of space.  90 gigs!  I guess over the years it built up!  This was the first time I ever messed with these files, in fact I didn't even know they existed until recently.  I found them within the following file structure:
AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Common > Media Cache Files
I did some research before deleting them and everything I read said it was ok to do so, but ever since I haven't been able to export to QT in Premiere Pro or After Effects.  Premiere gives me the error message, " Unable to create or open output file."  I reinstalled QT, but that didn't help.
I normally don't export to Quicktime format unless I'm doing some animation projects in After Effects, which is what I'm working on now.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Matt

I've tried changing the export destination, but that doesn't help, and I don't have a problem exporting to other formats.
I've never tried using AME as a convertor.  I'm not sure that's the ultimate solution to my problem, but I'm curious enough to give it a try.  How would I do that?

  • 16:9 Exported to Quicktime Becomes 4:3

How do you preserve 16:9 aspect ratio in exporting a FCP sequence to Quicktime?
    File>Export>Using Quicktime Conversion>and then I typically select Broadband-Medium or Streaming-Medium (I think that's 15fps). And eventhough I check Preserve Aspect Ratio, I still get a 4:3 square with 16:9 squeezed video.

    Greetings,
    I was in a similar situation as this fellow editor;
Most of my footage is 4:3, however I show it on plasmas that are 16:9 and some DVD players simply stretch my image. Can compressor fix this problem? I imported a 4:3 sequence into compressor and I want compressor to export it to a 16:9 format with pillarboxes. How do I do this? Thank you.
    And your response was;
    Hi,
select your encoding preset (i.e. DVD best quality 90 minutes) in settings window, drag it onto your video. Highlight/select the video to activate the inspector window info and tools. As you know in inspector you can click on 6 buttons to view/change settings (i.e. encoder, frame controls etc.) click on geometry.
Now in Crop to: select 16:9 and in padding select 16:9 but in the boxes below change top and bottom to 0 and left and right to 72.
Submit the encoding and once that's done import your MPEG2 as asset in DVSstudio, drag it on the track frame in the graphical window, single click it and in the track window (lower right side of the screen) select 16:9 as display mode. You should now have your 4:3 movie in a 16:9 ratio with pillarboxes.
    G.
I followed your advice and after bringing into DVD studio pro, the only format I could export to was a video stream mpeg that doesn't open up for me. I want to export it as a mov file to import back into my final cut project. Is it possible to export a 16:9 format out of compressor as a mov file.
I am trying to see what would be the best road for me to go down.
I spent five years doing a documentary and half of the footage was shot 16:9, the other half 4:3. I like the 16:9 look and want to eventually try to convert all the 4:3 to 16:9.
    what are your thoughts,
    Thank you very much,
    Julian

  • Keynote 3.0.2  Will Not Export to Quicktime

I have a put together a Keynote presentation that uses a Quicktime movie on one of the slides. The presentation plays fine within Keynote, but when I try to export the presentation to Quicktime, the export stops and tells me there's not enough memory or there's something wrong with the file. The message comes up when the export procedure reaches the slide that contains the Quicktime movie. Is it possible to export a Keynote presentation to a Quicktime Movie if the presentation has a movie in it? That's like a movie inside a movie. I can't get it to export to QTime.

The other work around that I've found is to tell it "send to iDVD" but then quit iDVD when it pops that up. You'll end up with just the quicktime file it created.
What I noticed is that when a "quicktime export" plays in QT, it has a fps rate of like 7 or 8 or even 13 but the dynamic "playing fps" goes up to 30 during transitions and back to 0 when there isn't a transition. At least with the iDVD cheat you end up with 24 fps. That may work for some people, that is film rate, but I'm in need of NTSC DV 29.97. So I import it into Final Cut Express, and do an export conversion.
I don't use audio, so I don't know how that would work in this cheat, but since your voiceover (I'm guessing based on trying to put music to my slides) is one entire track, you can add that in FCE before that export and line it up there.
If anyone else has suggestions to get a 29.97 export correct with the "export to quicktime", I'd love to hear it. This cheat takes too long for my work.

  • Export to Quicktime Movie Results in Aspect Ratio Distortion

All of my original footage was shot in miniDV. I have created a sequence with the following settings:
    Frame size: 720 x 480
    Compressor: DV/DVCPRO - NTSC
Pixel Aspect: NTSC - CCIR 601
    Vid rate: 29.97 fps
Ultimately the sequence needs to go to DVD with a standard 4:3 aspect ratio. To export, I am using:
File > Export > QuickTime Movie...
I have tried using several different settings including:
Apple Pro Res 422 NTSC 48 kHz
Apple Pro Res 422 NTSC (HQ) 48 kHz
    Apple Pro Res 960x720 30p 48 kHz
    DV NTSC 48 kHz
    etc...
All settings yield the same result: a slightly squeezed aspect ratio. At first, I thought that this might simply be the fact that I was playing back files in QuickTime which uses square pixels I believe. But in both DVD Studio Pro and iDVD, the simulation shows the same effect. (By the way, Finder's "Get Info" reads the resulting Final Cut Pro Movie File dimensions 720x486.)
I'm fairly new to FCP so I'm hoping there is something obvious that I have missed. Can anyone explain what I need to do to get the video to DVD without a distorted aspect ratio?
(Incidentally, I have managed to export using quicktime conversion with no problem. But I need the export to be a Final Cut Pro Movie File so as to maintain chapter markers, etc.)
    Advice welcome!!!

Hi David, I know this was discussed in you posting already but I just wanted to make sure I had it clear. I have a 4:3 film and I've exported as a quicktime movie with current settings, which should be 4:3 and found that the image when played back in quicktime, looks horizontally stretched. Almost as if quicktime is trying to play it back as a 16:9 image. I think this is the same issue the other fellow was having but I just wanted to be clear. You're saying that the 4:3 image distortion is perfectly normal when played back in quicktime on a computer screen and that the export will look fine when put to DVD or sent to a monitor? I just wanted to make sure because this problem is freaking me out and I don't want to deliver a distorted image to my client. Could you also explain briefly why this happens with quicktime export and not quicktime conversion and what causes quicktime to distort the 4:3 image? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    james.

  • Why Can't I Export to Quicktime from Garageband?

Has anyone else experienced this or would know how to fix it...
I created a .mov file from Keynote and brought it into Garageband as a Video Track to sync the music to the Keynote presentation. Now I'm ready to Export to Quicktime from Garageband. When I choose the Export command from the 'Share' menu in Garageband, it runs through two dialog boxes - first "Creating Mixdown" and then "Converting..." - after the second dialog box disappears no Quicktime file is created.
I have tried several things to remedy this, but have had no luck - such as updating to Garageband 3.0.1, running Disk Utility, restarting the computer. I also made sure to check the Preferences in Garageband before exporting.
Can anyone tell me how I can get it to export?
Also, the final Garageband file size is approximately 180MB and the presentation runs approximately 8 minutes. The final file will need to be 'full quality', as it will be shown from a projector at a meeting.
      Mac OS X (10.3.9)   Keynote v3.0.0; Garageband v3.0.1; Dual 1GHz G4; 1.5GB SDRAM

    Which export did you use?
Try going into prefs->export, enable the export to disk option.
Than in the Share menu choose export to disk.
Then do a search on the name of your song (in the Finder) and see if it shows up.

  • Keynote 6.0 Video not playing (export to Quicktime)

I have a presentation with a few embeded videos.  No matter what I do, they videos will not play when exporting the presentation to Quicktime.  The same presentation in Keynote '09, export to Quicktime works without issue.  Has anyone had similar issues?

Here's what I found ... I had to install Quicktime 7 and use iwork 09' (using them in mavericks) ... Using those two and opening projects in those two, works the way it should be.
There's an issue with the NEW Quicktime ... Even if you open and older .mov, it still won't let you control your keynote prsentation.
If you want to control your keynote presentation ( like the way it was), then search Quicktime 7 and use iwork 09'.
Here's what I don't understand ... Being able to convert any keynote presentation to a .mov is a major deal for videos. When they release the new stuff, doesn't anybody actually look at it first? ... Ya' know, to see if it actually works before releasing it? I get that a few things can slip by, but c'mon, major funtions ???
ALSO ........ When exporting the new keynote ( version 6). You can't export to a .mov ... It says quicktime, but it saves to a mv4.
I can see adding value, but stop taking away value !!!!!!!!!
