Failure to launch in Vista

Users CD fails to start in Vista. I have a medical CD that
launches with autostart. It points to my launching Authorware7
Title.exe file. I have received no other errors from users. Any
ideas what might cause this? Is there a Vista compatability
problem? Here is what the user said:
"I have your RCIS cd and I am getting the following error
message when I try to run it in Windows Vista. I have not had a
problem running it on Windows XP. The error message says:
"Title.exe - Bad Image" this is at the top of my tab. And the error
message box says: "JS32.dll is either not designed to run on
Windows ir it contains an error. Try installing the program again
using the original installation media or contact my software vendor
for support." I am not trying to install the program I an just
trying to run it from the CD on this laptop."

There is not an inherent incompatibility between AW and
Vista. I've
developed and tested Authorware content on Vista almost daily
for 2 years
with no insurmountable problems.
Certainly I have never encountered an issue with the
JavaScsrpt dll.
As a first test, ask your customer to try running your
Authorware exe in XP
compatability mode.

  • Failure to Launch since Leopard install

Since installing leopard 10.5.2 I can't launch idvd (version4). I am constantly given the error message "failure to launch" Any suggestions? Are there any downloads that may be able to fix it?

    Hi
NO - there is no solution.
You need a version more modern than iDVD 5 to be able to run under Mac OS X.5 !
    No there are no download-fixes.
alt. Partioning the hard disk or use another FW external one with an older Mac OS
and start (boot) from this when doing DVDs.

  • Failure to launch GoLive 5

    Hey,
I have a "failure to launch" message that appears when I try to launch Adobe GoLive 5.0, a message that wasn't there yesterday (..wha?). It reads "Failure to launch GoLive 5 because SCL 2.0 could not be found". I've re-installed GL 5 but am still getting the message. This is an app that I've been running in Classic without a hitch, up til now. Can anyone help me understand what "SCL 2.0" is ?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Do you have a backup to compare your machine to from when it did work? Perhaps you disabled an extensions necessary for it to work.

  • Adobe X Failure to launch

I downloaded Adobe X, but it refuses to launch. I see the Akamai installer is  a 32 bit program, and I guess Acrobat X is too. Can this failure to launch be a conflict with my 64 bit Wndows 7 os?

There is no conflict of Acrobat X with Windows 7 64 bit , we would like to know what exactly is the error message and when did you get it.?

  • Windows 7.1 will not launch in Vista

Folk, I cannot get Windows 7.1 to launch in Vista. It says I have a problem in my audio configuration and from looking at the Quicktime control panel, I do not see any stereo option under the channels. However, no other program using sound is having this problem. I was also able to use 7.0.2. i was wondering if others have had this problem or if I could get the setup files for 7.0.2 so I could go back a step.
    Thanks,
    John.

It says I have a problem in my audio configuration and from looking at the Quicktime control panel, I do not see any stereo option under the channels.
that message is usually caused by a problem with your QuickTime.
perhaps try the following document. (it works with most cases of this in XP and 2000, so fingers crossed it'll help on your Vista.)

And, how do I control that in Visual Studio?
All I get is the Attach Debugger... context menu option in the Azure cloud service nodes in Server Explorer. That is where it is failing. There are no customisable options.
Because of that, the Attach to Process dialog box is unable to retrieve the list of processes (to debug) in the remote worker role instance server.
I tested a blank-template worker role project and published to a new cloud project, and this simplistic copy had no problems with the Remote debugger.
Now the question is, what is it about this real-world project/cloud service that is different from blank sample? From what I compare between what I think are the relevant settings, there are none.

  • PSE 7 won't launch in Vista 64

I recently got a new PC with Vista 64. I loaded my PSE 7 using the "Windows XP" mode and everything seemed to go well. The desktop icon looked different and the program would not launch. I got the "can't find the file" Looking at the program file, there isn't any exe. file at all.
I then downloaded the same program, PSE 7 from the Adobe site and it runs just fine. But, it won't accept my serial number from my CD.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

Actually, Windows XP compatibility mode and C:\Program Files (x86)\ folder are independent of each other.
The x86 folder is where 32-bit programs get installed on Vista 64, regardless of whether they need XP compatibility mode.   The PSE 7 installer will automatically place PSE in the x86 folder, since PSE is a 32-bit program.
There is no need to install PSE 7 on Vista 32 or Vista 64 by running the installer in XP compatibility mode -- that may well be contributing to your problems.   PSE 5.0.2, 6, and 7 are fully Vista compatible.
Another person encountered very similar problems.  He too then downloaded the free trial and had it run successfully.  Then he installed from CD again, and the installer asked to uninstall the free trial; he said "yes" and the CD installation succeeded:

If that doesn't succeed, I can recommend other troubleshooting steps.

  • CS3 Programs hang and never launch on Vista and Win7

This is kind of a repeat from my previous post... but I installed on Win7 and tried to launch the CS3 Production premium programs and nothing happens...
So then I uninstalled and installed on my Vista 64 bit machine....
    Same exact problem.

  • Opening multilple PDFs upon Acrobat 9 launch in Vista

This problem was first reported/solved for Macs, but I'm on Win Vista Home Premier and it just recently started doing it on my system. I tried to 'repair' the install, but the behavior did not correct itself. I've copied parts of that posting because it describes the situation very well (and seems to be cross-platform). "My coworker and I have experienced some strange behavior with Acrobat 9. Sometimes upon launching the program multiple PDFs will open. Files that haven't been opened for days will suddenly open, along with the document which we meant to open. Is anyone else experiencing this? " in the Windows environment?   I'm about to go back to ver 8.

Another thread that looks very similar:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/719838
This bug definitely seems to be linked to using Two-Up page view and having multiple comments on a PDF.
It was suggested that the problem might lie with the fact that the PDFs we're working with were created in Indesign CS3, but we've now replicated the problem with PDFs from Indesign CS5.

  • ITunes 8.0.2 will not launch in Vista SP1

I have a new laptop with a clean Vista SP1 install. Tried installing iTunes 8.0.2, but after I double-click on the iTunes icon to launch it, it won't start. itunes.exe is in the task manager running, but the program will not run. The first time it shows me the user agreement, I click accept, but after that, nothing.
I did a search and found the kb article suggesting I delete the configuration files. When I went to the folder, there were no configuration files to delete. I tried a different ID, run as Administrator, and nothing. Quicktime installs and launches fine. I did a malware/virus check to be on the safe side, and that came back clean. Any suggestions?

Thanks, that was helpful. When I restarted just Quicktime, it launched, but I did not get anything on the screen, just the blank player. That led me to believe it was an internet connection problem. And when I said "clean install", I misstated that . It was clean until I installed some of my stuff, like my work VPN and ZoneAlarm. Turning off ZoneAlarm did the trick. I also re-ran the installation exes as administrator, not sure if that helped or not. I am importing my music library now....

  • Photoshop Elements 12 wont launch in Vista

I recenly installed Elements 12 on Vista (ater numerous failed attempts) but it wont launch. Any solutions?

    Any error messages?
Can you launch the individual executables (organizer / editor)?
What happens if you right-click an image and select Open With> Photoshop Elements Editor?
Did you disable your anti-virus / firewall during installation?
What happens if you right click the shortcut and select 'Run As Administrator'?

  • Brand New iPod Touch, absolute failure to launch

Hi all, I was hoping someone here could help me.
I currently live and study in Japan, and thought I'd treat myself to a shiny new 32GB iPod Touch after my girlfriend and I marvelled over them for about an hour in the Nagoya apple shop. I popped into town today and picked one up.
I already have iTunes and a 3rd Generation iPod Nano 8GB, and they work fine, apart from sync problems, probably related to my Vista operating system.
When I got home, I plugged my new Touch into my freshly-booted pc... and nothing. The "hardware recognised" sound plays, and the ipod flickers on for about two seconds, displaying a connection cable and the iTunes logo, presummably telling my to connect it to iTunes.
Well, obviously I can't. The thing isn't even recognised in the "My Computer" window. The only place my pc sees it at all is in the divice manager under "Other Devices". It either has a question mark next to it, or an error saying the driver is not configured correctly. I have tried the "update driver" button, disabling and re-enabling, restarting my pc, and re-installing itunes, all to no avail.
The worrying thing is, the ipod itself seems unresponsive. All that happens when I press the button, is a few seconds of the image pressummably telling me to connect it to itunes, then it just seems to turn off again. Holding down the button doesn't do anything.
This is really worrying, as it is brand new, out of the box, and was $600 with the case.
    Can anyone shed any light?
    Thanks
    Message was edited by: JRCurtis

Just something I forgot to add: For the few seconds that the ipod stays on, when it displays in the "Other Devices" tab in Device Managed, if I press on "Properties", I get this message:
This device is not configured correctly. (Code 1)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.
Not really sure what this means, as reinstalling drivers doesn't seem to do anything...

  • Adobe Bridge Failure to Launch

I have CS4 Design Premium for Mac. As of this morning, as soon as I launch Adobe Bridge, it immediately shuts down. I have restarted my computer twice, checked for software updates and am out of ideas. Any ideas? Bridge has always been a little glitchy on my system (some viewer modes cause the software to shut down on occasion). Help?

1}I would say uninstall it, clean out any trace of it, reboot, check for any updates reboot, and reinstall, leave defualt location where it installs itself!
2} look for maybe an older version, you can find one anywhere like www.kat.com try that working it from the bottom on up! even if you have to start at 1.0, let mwe know how that goes!

  • Palm Desktop 6.2 crashing on launch with Vista

I've been using Desktop 6.2 with Vista for several months.  There seems to have been some bad old data on my TX as Desktop crashes when I go to month view in the datebook for August 2008 and earlier, but otherwise fine.
Starting last week, the application will not fully open with a box stating "Palm Desktop by Access has stopped working" within 1/2 second hitting open.  I've been able to hotsync with no problem and no change.  I removed the application and reinstalled after re-downloading from Palm.  I've also tried logging on as an administrator with no help.
Anyone have any suggestions?  Many thanks.

I've run into the problem before but it's either been bad data or events spanning midnight. Usually in the month before or after the month that locks up the Palm desktop. You might want to check Sept and Nov for any events that span midnight.
