Failure to load Core DLL

I recently installed the latest version of Reader.  Since then, I have been unable to open any of my PDF files.  I get a Fatal Error message:  Acrobat failed to load its Core DLL.  Does anyone know what is happening and how to fix it?

My OS is Vista Home Premium.
I had Master collection CS4 installed.
When starting up acrobat reader; i got following error:
    failed to load core dll.
I went to the log and this is the explenatoin written in there: (i'm dutch speaking)

I simultaneously had a problem with Dreamweaver.
I think all this is caused by an Side By Side configuration issue.
I've tried to do following steps:
    -redistibrutable 2008 c++ package geinstall
    -system recoverage tool
    -reinstall cs4 master collection
-uninstall master collection, clean up, install reeware acrobat reader
-uninstall acrobat reader, ccleaner register issues resolver , also older than 24 uur , reboot,  install acrobat reader freeware
-revo uninstall tool to remove acrobat
none of the above actions were successful.
What could u suggest or give as a solution.
Atm i'm using an altarnative pdf-reader.
But as i bought the master collection,
i'd rather have my adobe acrobat reader pro and dreamweaver working.
    Thanks in advance,
    With friendly regards
    Anton

    Hi Anton
I am sorry, I do not have an answer just a similar problem.
I am no expert, but all these manifest files are to ensure that different developers can ensure that the appropriate versions of common libraries are used by particular versions of their software.
Deatils are below. The original problem was a corrupted manifest file, probably due to a disk error. This resulted in several programs failing to run. In particular I was unable to access backup on my Windows Home Server. From the logs I was able to identify the manifest file in error and located a copy of a file with the same name on another of my computers. Using notepad I then changed the file causing the problem to match the file on the other computer.
This appeared to resolve all my problems.
When the Acrobat Reader updated itself, however, the"failed to load core DLL" message appeared. Simply uninstalling all adobe programs and re-installing makes no difference.
If you have the solution please post.
If not, I will continue to research this problem.
    Very best wishes
    Graham

  • Acrobat not loading Core.DLL

I am using a computer running Windows7 (64 bit) and cannot open or run Adobe Reader.  Either 9.5, 10, or version 11.  After a reinstallation of any of these versions I get a message that "Acrobat failed to load Core.DLL" and then a windows that says it cannot open in "Protected" mode. We have not had any problems  ( for years) with any version of Reader but the train has come off the rails.  I need help badly.  Help!

The above link does not seem to load; try http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

  • Failed to load Core DLL-Adobe Reader XI

This is the error message I got when I downloaded and upgraded from a perfectly functional Adobe Reader 9.5 to Adobe Reader XI.  It did download in protected mode but I didn't have any problems with it last time I upgraded and downloaded in protected mode.  My OS: Windows 7 -64 bit with IE 10.  I hope this doesn't have any problems with my antivirus software ....since my last blue screen of death experience >.< due to a trojan horse virus that wrecked everything ....so bad I had to use system restore.  So, I bought Norton 360 with the intention of having my computer like Fort Knox!  However, I have no idea how some of the stuff works on it though...lol
    Can you help me please?

My situation was fixed by recommendation in thread http://forums.adobe.com/message/5211542 to scan for a rootkit malware. The scanner found 1 object in my case, and the scanner utility's Cure removed the rootkit. After that, Reader works perfectly for me.

  • Adobe Reader fails to load Core DLL

I'm at my wits end here.
For some unknown reason my Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit Dell laptop has started popping up  the following message about Protected Mode.
If I choose Do Not open, then Reader just closes.
If I choose Open with PM disabled, I get:
I have Kaspersky Antivirus already installed and it has scanned my computer several times. Nothing has been found as a result of these scans. I run the full rootkit scans manually several times as well.
    I've rebooted several times.
I've reinstalled Reader TWICE. I had to use the adobe Reader Cleaner tool because reader will not uninstall any other way.
I created an Administrator account just to make absolutely sure it would have the correct permissions - but I still get the message above.
    What do I do now?

I don't know why this is happening to you; over the last few years that method has always worked.
    Two things to try:
since you cannot even open Reader by itself, try to disable Protected Mode via the registry: download, unzip, then run the registry script from https://files.acrobat.com/a/preview/e2cfe2ae-d1f3-4f3c-ae1d-d4a50fe66f49
uninstall Reader XI, then download the new Adobe Reader DC from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

    Hi,
Sorry, the question you asked is not about FormsCentral. I'm not sure whether you are using Adobe Reader or Acrobat. Are you using the latest version? I suggest you go to Acrobat Forums (http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat) or Adobe Reader Forums (http://forums.adobe.com/community/adobe_reader_forums) to find the answer. Thanks!

  • URGENT HELP NEEDED 'Acrobat failed to load its Core DLL'

My Adobe Reader was working fine until I needed to open a PDF the other day to which I received this message 'Acrobat failed to load its Core DLL'. I had a problem with it in the past with an error code ending in '142' but I managed to solve this myself. Now this has appeared and I'm stumped. I am currently running windows 8.1 and have the most up-to-date Adobe Reader XI.
I haven't changed anything to my computer for it to interrupt the program. I have read the forums on here and elsewhere. I have:
    Un-installed and re-installed the program
Repaired the program through the control panel
I have run the TDSSKiller from Kaspersky which didn't find anything
I have previously run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software including the 'rootkit' option. Unfortunately I fell asleep and so did my computer so I lost everything from the scan (it takes hours for this scan) so I am currently running it today.
I've conducted other advice that people have suggested on previous forums/discussions but it still hasn't been fixed
If there is anything I could try then could someone please help me as this is very urgent!
Thank you so much in advance for any comments or suggestions.

Thank you for your reply but I have done everything on that page yet it still does not work :/
    Laura,
In that case the only way is to uninstall the reader completely from the system and then to reinstall it.  The process is to use the Adobe cleaner and this is a free tool from Adobe downloadable from this link:
<Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs>
Download the tool and save it on your desktop or in a temporary folder.  then right-click on it and extract the files.  After extracting the files, run the file called: "AdbeArCleaner_v2.exe".  Then follow the simple instructions given on the screen.
After the uninstall is completed, you need to restart the machine before you can install the reader again.
Hope this helps but please post back if this didn't work so that further help can be given.

  • Core DLL failed to load

Suddenly I get the message "CORE DLL" failed to load whenever I try to read an Adobe file. I've removed the program 3 times and downloaded a new download from the Adobe website, but still I get the same result:"CORE DLL" failed to load. Any suggestions?

  • Acrobat failed to load it's core DLL

Whenever I try to open any PDF files on my computer they won't open and I am faced with a window that says Acrobat failed to load it's core DLL.  I've looked online and can't find any solutions that work.  I tried running malware programs, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe Reader, and I've tried to update acrobat but it fails during the updating process and just quits.
How do I fix this? I need to read my PDF for classes!

I completely un-installed Adobe Reader X, and installed an older version - Adobe Reader 9.5. Verison 9.5 opened and works fine.   You can download version 9.5 from Adobe's FTP site.  Make sure you download the english version.
This was not a malware or virus issue.

  • ACROBAT CANNOT LOAD IT'S CORE DLL - ACROBAT CANNOT LOAD IT'S CORE DLL

Is there a person who works for Adobe answering questions in THEIR own forum about THEIR own software? If so, why hasn't an employee of Adobe answered this question about the core dll not loading? It certainly appears there are a lot of Adobe CUSTOMERS who are experiencing this issue and is worthy of some time from an Adobe employee to get it resolved!
ACROBAT CANNOT LOAD IT'S CORE DLL
ACROBAT CANNOT LOAD IT'S CORE DLL
ACROBAT CANNOT LOAD IT'S CORE DLL

Here is the advice Adobe finally gave me:
Create a test PDF and attempt to reproduce the issue to verify that it
is not a file specific issue.
To create a test PDF file:
    1. Open the Printers and Faxes Control Panel from the Start Menu.
    2. Right-click on Adobe PDF and select Properties.
    3. Select Print Test Page and save the PDF to the Desktop.
If the issue does not occur, then there is an issue with the original
file. You will either need to troubleshoot the content of the file or
    try to recreate it.
If the issue persists with the test file, then it is possible that the
Acrobat preferences have become damaged. Reset the Acrobat
preferences and then attempt to reproduce the issue.
    To reset the Acrobat preferences:
    1. Exit all instances of Acrobat.
    2. On the keyboard, hold down the Windows logo key and tap the #R#
key. This will open the Run dialog box.
    3. Copy the following text into the Open field and press the OK
    button:
    %Appdata%\Adobe
    4. Rename the #Acrobat# folder to #Acrobat old#.
    5. On the keyboard, hold down the Windows logo key and tap the #R#
    key.
    6. Copy the following text into the Open field and press the OK
    button:
    regedit
    7. Right-click on My Computer, select Export and then save the file
as #Registry Backup# to the Desktop. This creates a backup of the
    registry.
    8. Browse to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat.
    9. Right-click on the 8.0 folder and select Rename.
    10. Change the name from 8.0 to 8.0 old.
    11. Close the Registry Editor.
    12. Launch the Acrobat application and attempt to reproduce the
issue. Acrobat creates new preference directories.
I implemented their suggestions, however the registry key of HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat that they gave me was incorrect as ours is: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\PDFMaker\8.0
I went ahead and renamed it to 8.0.old as instructed so time will tell if the Acrobat Cannot Load It's Core Dll error message goes away.
