Failure to open facebook page

When I try to acces Facebook through Safari, I continue to get the message: Safari can’t open the page “https://www.facebook.com/” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again.
The only difference in my computer use recently has been at one point while loged on as a guest network, I tried to access facebook but was unable to due to the site being blocked. Throughout this there was one time facebook did show up, but then would not load any other pages (such as timeline to newsfeed, etc), but this appears to be a fluke, as it has not loaded since.
I have tried resetting Safari, emptying the cache, restarting my computer, and my modem, all to no avail. I've also looked to see if facebook had been added to parentel controls as blocked which it was not. None of this has appeared to help. All of my software is up to date.
I removed facebook related cookies, and this allowed me to acces the site and log in, but then once again when I tried to access either another facebook page or access it later, it goes back to having the same problem.
I also tried accessing the site through another account on the same computer, this worked the first time, but then when I tried to move from newsfeed to timeline, it would not load, and now has the same issues (Safari can’t open the page “https://www.facebook.com/” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again)
Thank you for any suggestions.

It appears to have been fixed. I tried removing facebook cookies again AND changing my preferences to accept cookies only from sites I visit (I had changed it to accept all cookies while tooling around with various preference settings when I was still unable to access the site). I have been able to navigate around facebook and access it after leaving the page.
I hope this can help people in the future!

  • Firefox is unable to open Facebook pages(not app pages) when opened in a new Tab. It works fine on the original tab though.

When I log into my facebook account, it loads up fine. However, if I try to open any facebook pages into a new tab, it fails to load. It doesn't seem to affect the original tab in which it was loaded. It also doesn't seem to affect Facebook app pages. I have tested this on IE without any problems. This only happened after a firefox update.

A possible solution may be to upgrade your adobe flash you can do this here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keep-flash-up-to-date-and-troubleshoot-problems
also you may need to upgrade your Firefox.
http://www.mozilla.org/ which you can do there.
if these options do not work i will help you with the next option but try these first.
edit for a better link, The download site you had was not even close to being a official source and had adware as part of its installer.

  • I can open every website but Facebook page. What should I do?

Recently, I suffer from errors of Facebook page on my iMac. I can open facebook page on every other device, but on my iMac. It began by can not upload photos and videos. Now I can't even open the page. Would some one help me?

This is the Firefox Start Page that was used in Firefox 3.6 and prior versions. <br />
    http://www.google.com/firefox
The '''about:home''' default homepage looks a lot like that older default homepage, but it is missing the Google menu items at the top left-side of the web page, along with the '''''Sign In''''' hyperlink for signing into Google services and the '''''Options''''' "gear button" for setting Google search preferences.
If you want the orange Firefox button to show, instead of the Menu Bar showing, you need to hide the Menu Bar by right-clicking a blank spot on the Menu Bar and de-selecting the Menu Bar by clicking on Menu Bar in that contextual menu.

  • Cannot Open Facebook in Safari 6.0.1

I cannot open Facebook in my Macbook Air. My browser is Safari 6.0.1 It says that Safari cannot open facebook page because it cannot establish a secure connection to the server. I've already deleted the cookies and removed proxies. What do I do?

Go to Apple  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Software Update, OR, open the App Store then select Updates from the menu top of that window. Then follow the instructions for updating OS X.
When you're done, launch Safari then try Facebook.
If you still have problems, troubleshoot Safari extensions and third party plugins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

Hi, I’ve recently bought an iPad2 and can’t get connected with AppStore or iTunes, when I tap on these icons a grey page pops up saying is loading but never opens the page, no failure message is displayed, it just keep saying is loading.
Apparently it is not an issue with wifi since Safari, You Tube and Maps work well, I’ve tried some of the tips, e.g. log off/on my Id, change password but no one worked.
Your help will be highly appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Luis.

Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the red slider.

Which add-on did you install that shows you the percentage for page zoom?
The Firefox Page Zoom feature does a domain by domain level of saving the users preferred zoom level settings, there is no default Page Zoom level setting in Firefox and there's no display of zoom %.

Am not able to use facebook on my Iphone 4, softwareversion:iOS7.1, also tried to access through safari and chrome that i have installed it gives an error message saying: "safari could not open the page because server stopped responding", i tried network reset, reset the whole device, rebooting , changing airplane mode rebooting nothing fix the issue, but i can access other sites and google , am using Vodafone as my carrier with 2g network, when at home able to access facebook.com through wifi in safari requesting assistance thank you

If you can access Facebook while on Wifi at home, but you are unable to access it while away running on your carrier's 2G network, I could phone your carrier.  You have already completed the Cellular Data troubleshooting for the iPhone, so any limitations keeping your from connecting to Facebook over cellular will have to be answered by your carrier.

PLEASE HELP ! :'(

I'm also having trouble with the facbook application on my Ipod Touch. When you try to click on a link within facebook, it doesn't go anywhere. I went and spoke with a person at the Apple store genius bar and they did a restore, and also reinstalled the application. This did not fix the issue. I then asked them to try it with another ipod and it did the same thing. The store rep said it was a problem caused by OS4 and he was not able to fix it.
Any thoughts on how I can resolve this issue?

You have 14 days to return the computer w/no questions asked.  Plus you have 90 days of FREE phone tech support on top of your standard 1 year warranty unless you also purchased AppleCare which gives you an additional 2 years of coverage plus FREE phone support.
Strongly suggest that you take FULL advantage of the above before it runs out.  Let Apple deal w/the problems.
