Failure to pair
well it fails to "Authenticating Bridge" runs the full 45 seconds and come up with "failed to pair with playbook" any one else lost the abilitty to do this, as its worked fine before the last update, lost my WiFi code to, what the hell is rim thinking! any fixes for this would be nice. other wise BB is not going to survive! and evil apple will win here, BB is bettamax and apple is VHS, and we know who won that time, and the wrong one did!
I have two Playbooks. One syncs with my 9810 and the other with a 9780 and both updated to 2.1.1032. Bridge was not affected on either unit.
Have you tried pairing any other bluetooth devices with the Playbook? With the BlackBerry?
If you're sure it's a problem with the Playbook then I'd recommend a debrick procedure to reload the Playbook OS.
Debrick Instructions:
First, make a Back Up of your PlayBook using your computer and BlackBerry Desktop Software.
This can be downloaded from http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
After the Back Up is complete unplug your PlayBook and then push and hold down the Power Button until the unit Force Powers Off.
Now, while Desktop Software is still open on your computer and the PlayBook Powered Off, Connect the PlayBook to your computer.
You should see and error screen from Desktop Software pop up that has the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
QUICKLY choose the Update option.
This will erase all the information off of your PlayBook and Re-Write the Software back onto it. Once it's complete your PlayBook will need to go back through the setup wizard, and you can then perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your information. The only thing that won't come back after the restore are the apps that you downloaded from App World but they can be easily Re-Installed using the My World feature in App World.

Hi,
I have a problem where my iPhone was once paired with my laptop. At some point the pairing got deleted or something happened and no I can not pair again.
I can not re-pair the iPhone despite numerous attempts to do so.
I think the iPhone perhaps still remembers my old PIN despite my trying to use a new one. Of course I no longer remember what that PIN was so I'm stuck in a bad situation. Also if I change the bluetooth name of my laptop, the iPhone does not reflect this change when the PIN entry screen appears further making me think that the iPhone still remembers something that it shouldn't.
Short of formatting the iPhone, does anyone have any tips or solutions?

P.S. Pairing with other devices works.In case you're trying to pair your iPhone in order to share your cellular connection, you should refer to "tethering". If tethering is your problem, you should try to reset iPhone's Network Settings through its preferences. Keep in mind that doing so will also force the iPhone to forget any WiFi passwords you've entered.

I have updated to iOS8. Now cannot connect to BT speaker that I have been using for months. BT discovers it but will not pair. I have tried switching both off & on but nothing helps.
I am sure the BT speaker not the problem because it works fine with iOS8 on my iPad!
... And no I am not trying to connect both at once. To be sure I have switched the iPad off completely and switched the speaker off & on but still with the same failure to pair. The iPhone sees the speaker but then gives me the pairing unsuccessful message when asked to connect. -

my apple TV second generation can not connect to the Itunes store. I keep getting a message saying. Apple TV can't Connect to the server at this time. Please try later. Is it on my end or is there an issue on Apples side? I can see previews and such but can not buy or rent anything
I have four Apple TV's in my home, and I get this message all the time. What is intersting, is when it occurs on one,it occurs on ALL four simultaneously. We also have two iMacs, two iPads, and three iPhones, all use the same apple I'd and password, those other devices connect to iTunes just fine when this occurs with the TV's. I too can also watch previews, use Netflix, etc.
It is clearly a gremlin specific to iTunes and Apple TV's, and your account. Re booting the TV does work.
I am forever rebooting Apple TV's, as well as forever returning them for free replacements as they experience a variety of problems, locked screens, failure to pair with a remote, etc.
Apple knows the fix for this is a reboot, so why is that not an express lane answer??
Very frustrating devices, ITunes does have the best content, and the highest prices. But I suggest use your apple tv for watching Netflix at $8 / month rather than $5 / movie. Especially when they do not seem to care enough to fix bugs like this so we can enjoy the pleasure of overspending for their content without extreme frustration.
Imagine three kids with Apple TV's in their room. (we do not have cable). A thousand "Dad, can you come fix my Apple TV again".

Bottom line? Anytime anything goes wrong with your Apple TV, it's not you as long as you have Internet, it's Apple, reboot when in doubt, or unplug and replug, even better. -
When I try to open documents with LibreOffice, just the splash screen comes and then nothing.
I tried to open the file through terminal and I got this error message:

Authentication failure when attempting to pair mouse
For the last couple years I've had my Iogear Bluetooth mouse paired nicely with my Powerbook via a USB Bluetooth dongle (the built-in bluetooth doesn't work). Last week I paired my mouse with a friend's MacBook for several hours. When I tried to resume using the mouse with my own Powerbook, it was no longer paired, so I made a trip to Bluetooth Mouse Setup to initiate a new pairing. Unfortunately this no longer works; it finds the mouse successfully, but shortly after it reaches the "Pairing with your Bluetooth mouse" step, it displays a message in red lettering:
The pairing attempt was unsuccessful due to authentication failure. When ready, click Continue to try again.
I've retried the process many times during the last few evenings, but to no avail. Discoverable is turned on. I even reinstalled the Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo update - still no go. Today I took my Bluetooth USB dongle and mouse to a Windows computer at work, and pairing worked just fine there, so I know it is not a hardware issue. Has anyone encountered this pairing error, and been able to resolve it?I've been going crazy with this issue the last two days.
I had previously been using a Targus Bluetooth Mouse for Mac, but I have had to revert to an old Powerbook G4 as my main computer. I wanted to continue using my bluetooth mouse so after two tries I finally found a bluetooth dongle that the Mac recognizes. It seems to work like a charm, and is only annoying because of its bright green LED that blinks ceaselessly.
However I was most disappointed to find that when attempting to pair with my mouse, it recognized the mouse, connected, but then stalled out on the pairing process with the same red text message mentioned here.
I tried pairing with my old Palm m515 and that worked perfectly.
I booted up to a 10.4.11 install on an external drive and found the mouse to pair up and work perfectly.
Then I installed 10.5.4 on an external drive and it too connected perfectly. I tried creating a new user on my main drive's 10.5.8 install and that did not solve the problem. At this point I thought my main drive's 10.5.8 install was corrupt for some reason. I backed up my drive via Time Machine and proceeded the 6 hour new system fresh install.
My Leopard install disc is version 10.5.4. The mouse paired and worked great after the initial install. It was all for nought, however, because upon installing the 10.5.8 update on this untouched fresh system, the mouse was no longer recognized and would stall at the pairing process. I even got a kernel panic this time.
I don't know what Apple did between 10.5.4 and 10.5.8, but whatever it is made pairing with a bluetooth mouse via a Bluetooth dongle seemingly impossible. I assume there will be no fix for this since they have moved on to Snow Leopard.
Since people are having this same problem regardless of their dongle brand or mouse brand, I suppose I can be confident that this is not a hardware issue. Especially since the hardware all works perfectly up to at least 10.5.4. I'm not sure when it breaks because I just go straight from 10.5.4 to the 10.5.8 combo update. -
How do I send files from my IMAC via bluetooth to my new Ipad? They will not "pair" but they are connected and discoverable. I send a file from Imac snow leopard OS X 10.6 to the ipadusing bluetooth, but the failure message says the ipad does not have the necessary services. What are these? Do I neeed to have iphoto and ms word to send pix and .doc files?
File Sharing over Bluetooth is not a feature of iOS devices. iOS does not include the required Bluetooth profiles to allow this. You cannot add this feature, so you may as well stop trying.

I "upgraded" to Yosemite last night and tonight I am having problems with my Trackpad and Microsoft wireless mouse 8000 pairing with my iMac. It was not a problem until I installed Yosemite last night and was actually using the Trackpad and Microsoft wireless mouse without difficulty until 15 minutes ago when everything went buggy. Trackpad will not pair and the Microsoft mouse pairing asks for pairing code that does not seem to exist with Microsoft.

Sounds like you have the same problems as several people here and on other forums. Once I upgraded my eMac to 10.4.4 I found that I could no longer send from my Nokia 6670 to my Mac. Could still send to the phone and iSync. You'll see other threads about this in this forum, as well as Macfixit and Macworld.

Startup Failure Paired With Apple Logo
We've all heard of start up issues, usually accompanied by a blue screen, torn logo, question mark, or greyness... I know I have, and have always solved this through command, option, p, r or using safe mode. Well, my iMac G5 now fails to load Tiger, loading instantly to the grey screen with the Apple Logo. Safe mode, harddrive selection, and command, option, p, r have only lead ultimately to this screen. I can't find info online or in the documentation. Anyone got advice for me? Appreciated.

After much tinkering, I finally solved it. I had to enable root user, delete my acccoun, and then create a fresh one. For some reason, my powerbook couldn't seem to carry over accountr through the update.Works fine now.

How do i configure an srw224p IGMP settings for an HMDI over IP pair?
Hi, I have a minimal understanding of IGMP but am told I need to configure it properly when putting an HDMI over IP transceivers on my network. We have two SRW224P switches with 2 Gbit ports each, connected via fiber through fiber GBICs, one slot on each (ports 25). The other gigabit ports (ports 26) we have plugged in an HDMI transmitter and receiver pair.
IGMP is enabled on both switches, but in just a default configuration. We are experiencing problems with network and VOIP phones on these switches when the transceivers are connected. Wavering sound quality and intermittent network failures across the board.
How do I isolate the multicast packet broadcasting obviously causing the trouble from the transceivers? i.e.: how do I isolate the port 26 traffic from the rest of the network. I'm told I need to use IGMP which I know little about.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

According to your description, you get an empty Measure Group Columns list when defining relationship. Right?
Based on your screenshot, you may notice that Measure group table is empty, so definitely it can't show any column in the dropdown list. If there's columns in the measure group that are related to the dimension columns, at least it will show the fact
table for Measure group.
In this scenario, please check if the fact table for the Measure group is existing. Re-process the Measure group and try again. If the issue persists, please re-create that measure group.

My resolution of Apple wireless keyboard failure.
I’ve seen a lot of posts on this Forum pertaining to wireless keyboard disconnect problems. There are many, many suggestions for how to resolve (rebooting, removing plists, updating firmware, suspicions about Leopard, disconnecting all USB devices, etc., etc.), and none that I’ve read about seem to do the trick consistently/reliably.
Rather than posting this tale at the end of another topic, I thought I’d post a new topic indicating my problem/resolution. First of all, I have an iMac, 20”, Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB, running Leopard 10.5.5. This was purchased Oct. 2006 and I have the wireless white plastic keyboard (which includes the numeric keypad) and mighty mouse. Over the past 2 years the wireless keyboard and mouse have worked very reliably, until recently. Several weeks ago my keyboard disconnected unexpectedly and I had a tough time getting it back “online”. I did all the logical things: replaced batteries, rebooted, removed plist files, made sure all software/firmware was up to date, etc. In some cases in trying to pair it, it would be seen, I would type in the passcode, it would connect, but only to disconnect shortly thereafter. Finally, it stayed connected and I thought I was home free.
Then, yesterday it disconnected again. I did all the things done previously to no avail. This time the keyboard was never seen. i.e., I never got to the point where the Bluetooth Assistant asks for a passcode, it just never saw the keyboard. By the way, the keyboard light blinked when I turned it on just like it should, and I should mention that throughout this process, my Apple wireless mouse worked fine.
At this point I decided, enough! Fortunately, I live close to an Apple store so I made an appointment to talk to a “genius”, which I did this morning. I brought in my computer and wireless mouse and keyboard. Since the mouse worked fine, I was convinced the problem was with the keyboard, but I brought in my iMac just to make sure the problem wasn’t there.
With the access to other wireless keyboards, Macs, etc.) available at the Apple store, it was pretty easy to trouble-shoot the source of the problem. My keyboard would not pair with another Mac in the store, but my iMac would pair just fine with a different wireless keyboard. My batteries were fine so the problem was obviously some sort of failure with my keyboard. The genius guessed the Bluetooth antenna went bad.
Even though my system was out of warranty, the genius told me I could buy a replacement keyboard at a discounted price of $45, which I did. So, that is my “resolution”. Not quite as satisfactory as finding some sort of magic bullet that would fix my old one, but I now have a working wireless keyboard, at a fair price, and I can quit tearing my hair out trying a myriad of unproductive “fixes”.Hi there!
Just received brand new iMac 21" yesterday. Unboxed it, turned it on and none of both bluetooth devices (keyboard and magic mouse) managed to get paired.
I was able to connect a USB mouse to log into the Mac. Did all turn off/on Bluetooth, turn off/on iMac several times with no luck. Weird thing is that when I lift keyboard on a 30 degree angle above my desk it seems to actually pair with the iMac but then when back to original position it disconnects.
I've tried the magic mouse with my 2008 Macbook and works flawlessly. After several attempts never managed to pair magic mouse with iMac and as said earlier keyboard is not working on a standard position on my desk. It is frustrating to have paid close to 2,000$ for something that does not even work out of the box... Any ideas or suggestions?
I'm planning to take it today to nearest Apple Stores but have a bad feeling about "genius" folks being able to help me out. Would be worth changing iMac for new one?

Updating ipod touch to os5.1 got an error message "cannot connect the ipod touch because the pairing record is missing" don't know what this means or how to fix but am stuck, only option is to answer ok and close the error box. Any ideas?

HSRP fails to work due to h/w failure
We have a situation that HSRP fails to work due to a partial h/w failure on the active router.
What happened is the active router continously getting input error on its Ethernet interface. User traffic fails to be received by this router. However the router is still able to send hello message to its standby router .When we do a sh standby on the active router, it says unknown standby which concluded that it does not receive hello message from the standby. The fault happened everyday . we can clear the problem by rebotting the router but fault came back the next day again for several times. Once we replaced the active router , problem did not return.
In understand HSRP uses mulitcast protocol . but I would like clarification that HSRP is using unidirectional comunication with the standby group. In a situation like this ,my assumption is the TX circuit on the LAN is working but teh RX circuit failed. The standby router would never know the LAN interface of actice router fails to receive its hello messages. Therefore the fail over never trigger.
Appreciate your feedback on this.

EdmondI believe HSRP use multicast address for the hello but it still use broadcast to ensure the standby router is active. I can't find such info. to prove it. Please correct me if I am wrong.
For the LAN connection, if the RX is failed, the interface should not up, or say, e.g. if the RX-pair of cable is not connectioned, the interface should down. So, I believe there is something wrong in the LAN interface, it may not only the RX side error.
