  • Datasocket connection failure requires restart of VI

I'm using LabView RT 8.5 together with a cFP-2110. I have shared variables hosted on the cFP, as the cFP application works by itself without the need of a host PC application. However, a host PC application can be connected and read/write shared variables to work as a GUI. The shared variables are accessed with Datasocket VIs, as the same application is to be used on different cFPs with different IP addresses.
The Datasocket connections is opened once and then the variables are accessed in a while loop. Before accessing the variables, RT Ping Controllers.vi checks if the cFP is still accessible. If not (or if the Datasocket Read operation fails), the Datasocket connection is closed. Now here comes the problem. When I want to re-establish the connection with Datasocket Open, I only get Error 66 (Connection closed by the peer). The only way I have found to "reset" this behaviour, is to close/stop the host VI and start it again. Is there an easier way to solve this? I assume the reason lies in something not being reset in the connection between the PC and the cFP. But what, and how can it be reset? Note that I have closed the connection with Datasocket Close in case of a failure.
I do not need answers about how I can avoid the connection failures in the first place. They can e.g. be caused by the cFP being temporarily too busy or something. The issue is when a failure HAS occurred, I want to be able to re-establish the connection without restarting the VI. How?

Isn't there anyone with similar experiences?
I would assume that someone would be interested in being able to restore a connection after a failure. Improving connections to minimize the risk of failures is not anyway a 100% solution. Sooner or later a failure will occur. And in that case I am not pleased with having to restart the application in order to get the system back on track.
I have already tried searching for previous posts regarding this, but the search results are very poor. Any ideas?

  • ORA-01242 - Media failure when restarting DB - data file locked ?

    Hi all,
I've been experiencing the same problem on several databases for about one month.
This occured on 8.1.7.4.1 and 9.2.0.7.0 db, on windows servers (2000 & XP).
Here is the problem : I have scheduled tasks that shutdown the db, then restart and dump it.
But for the 5th or 6th time in one month, I've found a stopped database in the morning
and the same error in the alert.log file :
    alter database open

-> this error message in french says that the datafile is already used by another process.
After performing a "recover datafile", I can restart the database.
I don't understand what kind of process could lock a datafile in a db that has just been restarted...
It seems that this problem never happened before, but now I get this error every week o_O
    can anyone help ?
    Thanks !

I've found the source of the problem.
Actually everytime I got this problem, the datafile was locked by the backup software (DAT) during the night.
    thx for your reply

  • How to restart Unity Publisher Only?

    CLI= "Utils System Restart"
HTTP = Step 1 From the Cisco Unified Communications Operating System Administration window, navigate to Settings > Version.
The Version Settings window, which shows the software version on both the active and inactive partitions, displays.
Step 2 To restart the system, click Restart or, to stop the operation, click Cancel. "
Will these two methods only restart the server that you are logged into or will it restart the cluster?

  • Failure to restart successfully!

Just bought a new MacBook pro 15inch. Already have an iMac which was facing a problem which did not allow applications like iTunes to launch and an unknown error was detected. Bought a time capsule and took a time machine backup and reformatted the iMac. Then installed the back up onto my new MacBook pro and same problem. After a whole day of manually sorting data onto a hard disk I inserted the the snow leopard osx disc in and chose to restart the laptop to erase off it's hard drive as I did for the iMac. Now when restarted a bar asking me to resart my computer popped up and in the background some unknown panic codes and stuff are seen. Restarted it at least 25 times still the same banner asking me to restart keeps appearing.
Extra info: I did pick up my laptop when the disk was in and a weird noise came. Does that mean anything???
Please do help. I am stuck.
    Thank you!

Get your MacBook Pro over to an Apple store or AASP. Hands on by a genius is recommended.

  • Standy causes BIOS failure, unending restarts

Just finished constructing a new system. Everything seems to work very well, except that when I put the machine into Standby mode (S3), upon turning the machine back on, it doesn't boot, but rather powers up, and powers down, over and over (infinite loop). It never gets to the logo or post screen. Pushing the soft power button on the front doesn't do anything, only a hard power off with the mechanical power switch will stop it. to get back to a bootable machine, I have to jumper reset the BIOS, then reset all the defaults. The machine then works fine, unless I go into standby, then the problem recurs. Any help would be appreciated.
    Machine is configured as:
    875P NEO mobo
P4 Northwood 3.06 GHz (Retail Boxed w/ standard cooling fan)
    1GB DDR mem
    2 80GB IDE drives (non-raid)
SB Audigy (AC97 audio disabled in BIOS)
    TDK 24x CDRW
    Pioneer DVD
    USB Mouse and Keyboard
    WinXP Professional
MAT is enabled, but no overclocking.
S3 Power management set in BIOS
    /curt

This is a known issue but I've never seen a fix for it yet. There are a few posts on this but Here's One I Started.
Someone said it won't do it if you set Performance mode to "fast" or slower but I never tried it.

  • OS 10.4.5 failure to startup-login window/ black screen/ blue screen-frozen

    Hi there,
To anybody that can help me, I thank you very much indeed in advance.
G4 Powerbook, 1.5gHz, 2gb Ram (1gb kingston ram added since purchase date), OS 10.4.5, security update 2006-002 (v1.1 (?) recently installed).
My current problem is that i cannot log into OS X. It boots as far as the login window, which is unresponsive, and then it then flicks to a black screen with 2 or 3 lines of white text and then flicks to a totally 'mac-blue' screen with the black arrow pointer still active.
    A history of my problem;
    1) Yes, unfortunately I tried to get front row to work on my machine (the hack with the front row enabler etc), and subsequently removed all traces of it after it screwed up a few things (menu bar missing, failure to restart). This tidy-up involved doing something with system library, bezel services...etc.
    2) I recently installed the first version of security update 2006-002. i am not saying this is the cause, but sometime after I did this, things started going wrong again. another thing i did recently which i hadnt in the past was to have itunes appear at startup and a few days later i emptied my hard drive of all my music and had this linked to a lacie 250gb via firewire 800. The problem at this was that login/startup was incredibly slow and sometimes the finder would keep relaunching itself on its own once the operating system was up and running. Also, when i tried safe boot, the login window would appear and then it would flick to a black screen. it would let me type in a username, but it would not let me input anything for the password.(I did use disk utility to repair permissions when i did manage to logon).
This whole problem seemed to go away for a day or two, but the login was still slower than usual the past few days.
I then turned on my powerbook this morning and login was extremely long and never completed fully- lots of pinwheel spins, menu bar not loading, itunes not appearing.
    After a few forced shutdowns I left the computer for maybe 5-10 mins and it seemed to sort itself out after a few finder relaunches etc, and so i tried a few things;
    3) I tried installing the newer version of the security update 2006-002 version 1.1 i think? At the same time i took itunes off the startup launches and also switched off auto login for my account (a silly idea it seems).
Since restarting from the security update, the operating system gets to the login window, which is unresponsive, and then it then flicks to a black screen with 2 or 3 lines of white text and then flicks to a totally 'mac-blue' screen with the black arrow pointer still active.(this is with the power adaptor connected only, no other cables etc)
I have tried Resetting PRAM, and using fsck, although I am slightly unsure as to whether or not this is useful to me anyway. I cannot reinstall the operating system until next week as my mum has my copy of tiger at home a few hundred miles away!
Any help at all would be so greatly appreciated, especially on the eve of my two year anniversary with my powerbook!
    Kind regards,
    Henry Harker

    Hi Henry
I've just encountered this problem with one of our computers at work. Hopefully this will help.
It's a Login Window Prefs problem. It's probably corrupted so you need to remove the prefs file.
    1. Startup in safe mode (hold down shift). You should get a login window for the master admin account.
    2. Delete the file: userName>Library>Preferences>com.apple.loginwindow.plist
    3. Restart.
Let me know how you go.
    Cheers

  • Inconsistent data in reports while data populated when BI Publisher is up

    Hi,
I am using an sql query in my report to populate data into it. The BI Publisher is up and running and then I viewed the report. It is displaying the data fine.
Now, I added/updated/deleted the data into corresponding tables. The BI Publisher is still up and running.
Now, when I try to view report the data getting displayed is not in consistent with the data in database. If I restart BI Publisher then the data is consistent with database.
Can any of you tell me what to do to avoid this? Am I missing any configuration here? Is there any kind of caching happening within BI Publisher which can be prevented?
Appreciate your help reg. this issue.
    Thanks in advance,
    -Vijay-

    Hi,
there's a document cache at report level. Check if this is activated (which is as default). You'll find the checkbox Enable document cache at report level.

  • BI Publisher Standalone - Windows - 10.1.3.4.1 - Default Login/PW fails

    Hello
I just installed BIP on my PC and after the installation finished, I got a message saying that I can login using "Administrator" as un & pw for the first time.
Unfortunately, when I open up the URL for BIP and try to login using this info, it doesn't do anything at all. Has anyone else encountered this before? How can I resolve this? Is there a setup or config file that I can edit with a new password, or reset the password, etc? Am I supposed to be using a different pw?
    Some info on my system:
    - IE8
    - 2GB Ram, 160 GB HDD
    - Win XP Pro SP 3
    - Oracle 10g XE
    - Oracle BIP Desktop 10.1.3.2
    - Oracle BIP 10.1.3.4.1
    Thanks & Cheers

Stop BI Publisher service (OC4J stop) and manually modify this file:
    File: C:\OracleBI\xmlp\XMLP\Admin\Configuration\xmlp-server-config.xml
(make a backup of this file before the change)
    Update the entry to: <property name="SECURITY_MODEL" value="XDO"/>
Save it and restart BI Publisher.
You should be able to login as Administrator/Administrator now.
    cheers

  • How to detect 'publisher gone away'

I've written a simple publish/subscribe solution using a topic as opposed to a queue paradigm. I start the server, establish a JMS destination, etc., etc., then start the client last (of course). All is well.
Now imagine the server gets stopped for some reason. The client carries on regardless. The problem, though, is that when the server restarts, if it tries sending a message to the client, the client never receives it - presumably because the publish/subscribe connection has been lost ??
Is there a simple way (code snippet ?) of the client detecting that it has lost the connection to the publisher it originally connected to ? Some sort of polling mechanism in a separate thread perhaps ?
    Gary Roussak

Thanks all for your attention so far - but I'm still struggling.
I certainly believe all the advice you are generously giving me at the moment, but am not sure how it is relevant to me. I am sure I'm probably being stupid here - but as I say, I'm unfamiliar with the real innards of JMS.
Can I ask you to bear with me whilst I try again to explain the detail of my problem ? And, by the way, the problem is not necessarily about detecting that the JMS provider has gone away, but in getting the subscriber to re-connect successfully.
My JMS provider is J2EE itself, i.e. I'm using J2EE 1.3.1 which has its own classes to implement the JMS API.
My solution is extremely unsophisticated at this stage, based as it is on the SimpleTopicPublisher/SimpleTopicSubscriber example code in a JMS tutorial from earlier this year.
I start the J2EE server and then create a 'Topic' (e.g. 'MyTopic').
I now run up the Publisher client I've created. Think of it as a basic Swing GUI which allows the operator to write a message and transmit it. The Publisher does the usual stuff: establish initial context, establish topic conn factory, lookup the topic name, create connection, create session, create publisher, start connection. And then it sits there waiting for an operator to publish. It is coded to properly clear up all JMS resources when it exits.
Next I run up the Subscriber client. It sits invisibly in the background. Set up is a mirror image of the Publisher except of course it creates a subscriber object instead of a publisher object. And that's it - it idles, waiting for onMessage() to be called. The connection is left permanently started. The only extra is this: instead of using your onException() approach, every five seconds, my Subscriber loops around testing to see if it can still get an initial context and then a factory object - temporary ones, not the same as the ones I've already instantiated. Yes - I know this is a horrible way to do it - but it's all I could think of before you told me about onException(). Let's refer to it as my 'test loop'. If it passes, I know everything is OK, if it fails, I know something has gone wrong. And as far as that goes, it DOES work.
I now publish a message and the Subscriber gets it. No problems.
OK. I now quit my Publisher. The test loop in the Subscriber doesn't fail, but that's not a problem because, if I restart my Publisher some seconds or minutes later and try to publish a message, the Subscriber gets it. So I can suffer the Publisher going down without any impact at all on the Subscriber.
I now quit my Publisher. But then I also follow that with a 'j2ee stop' as well so as to simulate the J2EE server box suffering a major problem. The test loop in the Subscriber now fails: it establishes initial context, but fails to establish a factory. Quite understandable. In the meantime, the test loop continues going round every 5 seconds, trying to set up a new initial context, factory, topic, connection, session, etc. And, whilst J2EE remains down, the loop repeatedly fails. Just what I wanted.
Now I restart J2EE (and also start my Publisher client again). However, the test loop in the Subscriber never recovers, i.e. it always establishes initial context, but never re-instantiates a factory object (and thus cannot do the remaining setup steps either, thus it never receives any more published messages of course). And I can't understand why this is the case - why shouldn't the test loop recover fully if I'm doing all the setup steps again ? If I start a brand new Subscriber client process, it works fine. But what's the difference ? New process id ? new threads ? Am I trying to do something that would not be expected to work ? Why ?
And why is this approach important to me ? Because the user whose PC is running the Subscriber client should not be expected to monitor the health of the client. If the client dies, software should be able automate its restart.
Does this explain the situation more ?

  • OSB 1031: proxy service and publishing JMS messages with no duplicates

    Hi all,
we have a Web Service proxy that publishes messages into a JMS queue. The queue is persistent and the related connection factory is XA enabled.
The proxy does the call to the JMS business service from a route node.
If a failure occurrs after the publishing returns successfully, the caller receives back an error and it will try again to call the web service proxy.
As the message has been published successfully and was not rollbacked by the proxy, the second call could put on the JMS queue a duplicate message.
As far as we know only with JMS proxy service, OSB starts a transaction within the pipeline or are we wrong ?
What do you suggest in order to avoid such a scenario described above ?
    Thanks and regards

  • Publish stopped working

I have had iCal publishing my calendars to a WebDAV-enabled directory on my web server for over a year now. Earlier today I updated an event in iCal, and when it tried to send the new information to the server, it's failing with this message:
    Publish failed for calendar "Unfiled"
Unexpected secure name resolution error (code
-9812). The server name secure.jms1.net may be
    incorrect.
I have searched Apple's web site and Google and am unable to find anything relevant to this message. The web interface running on my server is still working, and the permissions on the files are correct (i.e. they're the same as they have been for over a year.)
Any idea what the problem is? Or if not, can somebody at least tell me what "code -9812" actually means, so that I can figure it out for myself?

    Problem solved.
The server I'm publishing to is using a self-signed SSL certificate. I used Safari to visit the web site, and when it complained about the SSL certificate not being signed by a trusted CA, I turned on the checkbox to "always trust this certificate" and told it to continue. It asked for my password, turns out it was adding the certificate to the "X509 Anchors" keychain.
After this I quit iCal entirely, and when I restarted iCal, publishing now works correctly again.
This is a clear case where Apple needs to either improve their error message, or even better catch the error and offer the user an opportunity to add the certificate to their "X509 Anchors" chain, just as Safari does.

  • Strange Error when previewing or publishing

    Hi Muse Family
I am getting a very strange error when I publish to BC or when I go to preview in browser:
"Adobe Muse has encountered an error.. blah blah"
    and then a very confusing:
"There should not be such ID exists in the mapping"
    It forces Muse to close.
I can't think of any significant step I took to cause this problem from when it was working.

To enable the frequent release of new features within Muse, the team is always simultaneously working on many different improvements only some of which are completed and exposed in any given release. In the 2014.1 update some of the underlying code related to SVG support was unintentionally enabled. When copying and pasting from some versions of Adobe Illustrator (and other sources) the result may be an SVG vector graphic in Muse, rather than an image. While the SVG may appear to work in Design view, it can cause failures when exporting or publishing from Muse. This functionality will be disabled in an imminent dot release, 2014.1.1. We advise users to remove SVG content from their sites. Until 2014.1.1 is available, the graphics will need to be brought into Muse as .png, .jpg, .gif or .psd images using File > Place or Import, rather than Copy/Paste.
Sorry for the inconvenience. SVG support will be fully implemented, tested and included in a future major update of Muse.
Additional discussion in this thread <Re: I can paste vectors in muse now, it shows up in preview, and even in a browser preview, but not when I upload.>.

  • Message restart

    Hello experts,
i am wondering at which point messages are getting reprocessed after encoutering a systemerror. At which point does the message restart?
I am having multiple messages on errors which failed due to a mapping issue. I solved this problem by using an extended receiver determination which only sets receiver if a certain precondition is fullfilled, if no receiver is determined, i just ignore it in receiver determination. Because this messages should never reach anybody!
But restarting the messages just leads to getting the mapping error again! Do failed messages only restart at the position they failed before?
    For example:
Having mapping failures and restarting the messages just leads to restarting the adjusted mapping again, without the receiver determination step before?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind regards,
    Markus Schalk

Yes. All other previous pipelines will not be executed.
