Failure to search - query window problem

Hello again,
Have anyone of you came across a problem with SAP search mechanism in query window attached to document field? I've created a simple query of "Select acctcode,acctname from OACT where acctcode like '2%' and postable='Y' order by acctcode" and attached it to one of document fields (doesn't matter which one). When I run this query a usual window poped up with a search field on the top, but when I typed "2" in it, selection bar moved right into first 231 account ignoring any of the lesser numbers. There is more - when I changed query to search for '5%' like accounts, I gained the same result - accounts less than 530 were ignored even if I typed "50" or "51". BUT - when I changed query sort order to "desc", all account became "findable".
I got this problem in one database only which is SAP 8.8 PL10 version upgraded recently from 2007A one. I've checked with a newly created 8.8 and such problem hasn't occured.

Hello Thomasz,
I might be off base here, what happens when you use this???
Do you get the same types of query window problem???
Select
acctcode,
acctname,
segment_0
from OACT
where Segment_0 like '2%'
order by acctcode
for browse

  • C ldap_search_ext_s search query problem

    I have an application developed in C++ that uses the Novell C LDAP SDK.
    If I use a search query to the ldap_search_ext_s function of the form
    Code:
    (&(objectClass=inetOrgPerson)(%s=%s))
    it works when I substitute the first %s with 'cn' and the second with a
    valid username.
    If I modify the query to:
    Code:
    (&(|(objectClass=inetOrgPerson)(objectClass=aliasO bject))(%s=%s))
    it no longer works. I want to find user objects and user alias objects
    that match a username. I am substituting 'cn' and a valid username as
    before.
    This query works with the ldapsearch command from the OpenLDAP tools on
    a Linux installation. According to page 39 of ldaplibc.pdf it should
    work with this SDK as well. The example there is:
    Code:
    (&(objectClass=inetOrgPerson) (| (sn=Smith) (cn=Chris S*) ) )
    To me that's the same format as my own search filter, albeit ordered
    differently. I have tried using this query string and replacing the
    parts to make it identical functionally to my query.
    Each time I call ldap_search_ext_s it returns 4. The documentation says
    a return code of 4 is 'LDAP_SIZELIMIT_EXCEEDED: Indicates that in a
    search operation, the size limit specified by the client or the server
    has been exceeded. Incomplete results are returned.'
    This implies too many results are being returned, but I have checked
    and the final query used in the function is:
    Code:
    (&(cn=user1) (| (objectClass=inetOrgPerson) (objectClass=aliasObject) ) )
    Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

    Oops I'm sorry to say I've already worked out what I was doing wrong! I
    had a limit of 1 search result being returned by the function.
    Previously when I was just looking for users by
    objectClass=inetOrgPerson that was sufficient, but with aliases included
    as well it was not.

    Please go to Central Administration->Manage services on server, stop and re-start SharePoint Server Search service and Search Query and Site Settings Service. Then open a Command Prompt window and type net stop osearch14 to stop the search service. Type
    net start osearch14 to restart the search service.
    If failure persists, add a new query component as a mirror in the same query group as the failed query component.

  • Search Service Application problems after upgrading from Foundation to Enterprise edition of SharePoint 2013

    Hi all. I have been searching for days for a solution to a problem I am having with SP2013 Enterprise edition.
    We recently upgraded from SP2013 Foundation to SP2013 Enterprise. After the upgrade, the search services are no longer working and we are receiving many application log entries indicating the following:
    Application Server Administration job failed for service instance Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.SearchServiceInstance (ea2019ef-bb9e-4efe-85ee-5d2307406f31).

       at Microsoft.Office.Server.Administration.ApplicationServerJob.ProvisionLocalSharedServiceInstances(Boolean isAdministrationServiceJob)
    I have tried to remove the search service application and recreate it, and even though the SharePoint Central Administration states that it was created successfully, I am still getting the same errors in the log. If I go to the Search Service Application
    Search Administration page, the "System Status" shows the following message:
    The search service is not able to connect to the machine that hosts the administration component. Verify that the administration component '0359af35-0982-4ede-8838-b1d390e915bf' in search application 'Search Service Application' is in a good state and
    try again
    Additionally, under the "Search Application Topology" section, it states "Unable to retrieve topology component health states. This may be because the admin component is not up and running" which I assume is normal if the admin is not
    running.
    Does anyone know how I can resolve this problem?
    Thanks!

    Hi Joaquin,
    According to your description, the error occurred when you re-created the Search Service Application.
    Based on the error message, I recommend to verify the things below:
       1. Check if the association between the Search Service Application proxy and the web application is configured.
    Please go to Central Administration > Application Management > Configured service application associations > Click Default to see if the Search Service application is checked.
       2. Change the app pool for the Search Service Application to SharePoint Web Services Default in the properties of the Search Service Application.
    Please go to Central Administration > Application Management > Manage service applications > Highlight the Search Service Application > Click Properties in the ribbon > Change
    the two app pool to SharePoint Web Services Default: App Pool For Search Admin Web Service and Application Pool for Search Query and Site Settings Web Service.
        3. Run PS command to check if the search admin timer job is enabled: Get-SPTimerJob
    job-application-server-admin-service | fl. If it is not enabled, use PS command to enabled it and then reset Internet Information Services: Enable-SPTimerJob job-application-server-admin-service.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • Error when querying a table through the Query Window

    I am running a query on the following table in the ODT Query window - for some reason I get the error below when trying to retrieve the data - I can query the table just fine through SQL Plus - it errors out whether I use grid or text window
    ERROR

    I would have formatted it nicer - but that is the way that ODT created it :)

    Christian,
    I found that this happens when trying to query number fields that are reals with a large decimal value (26 decimal values and above seem to be the magic number). What is strange is that I don't get this problem when I retrieve data from the same table using the Retrieve data option (versus a query for all the data in the Query Window) so they don't seem to be utilizing the same basic code to grab and then display the data interestingly enough (I am sure you knew that). Does this allow you to replicate the issue?
    Thanks,
    Bryan

  • Need help in building search query

    Guys ..
    Problem Description:
    I have a huge table that is indexed using CONTEXT.
    I want to write a search query that considers the following:
    1. number of keywords match
    2. takes care of spelling mistakes, synonyms and acronyms
    3. proximity - the keywords should not be too far of each other.
    e.g. I have this phrase: "Horizontal Stabilizer Trim Brake"
    I was thinking of writing a query like:
    SELECT SCORE(1) SCORE,
    TEXT text
    FROM MY_TABLE
    WHERE CONTAINS(TEXT, '(Horz | Horizontal) ACCUM (Stab | Stabilier) ACCUM Trim ACCUM (Brk | Break)', 1) >= 0
    ORDER BY SCORE DESC
    The results doesnt look satisfactory. I have not used "near" operator as i dont know how to use it.
    Please help me as I am very much new to Oracle Text.
    -G

    Well, I'm not going to write the function for you, but we can at least talk through a general strategy.
    A lot depends on how you help your users on the front end -- for example, if they're searching a technical document, you may want to return results that aren't perfect matches but you do want to make sure the user picks 'mandatory' and 'useful' keywords in a way that lets you figure out which ones are really important. On the other hand, if you're google and have to handle queries like 'horizontal stabilizer trim brake' and 'were Pete and Jenny in the break room' then you run the risk of spending too much time looking for interesting words, almost doing a full-text search on the query trying to derive meaning.
    So I'm going to presume that you have some control over what/how the users generate their searches so that finding keywords isn't the issue.
    The plan will be to parse the query a bit to find the interesting words, clean them up, and weigh their importance, then use transformed data to build the query template to score various combinations.
    So here's some pseudocode for the function:
    function parse_query(pQueryWords in clob) returns clob as
    begin
        generate_token_list (); -- split the query into a set of individual tokens/words
        for each token in token_list
            if it's a mandatory word then accumtokenlist := accumtokenlist || ' ' || token ||'*10' -- weigh the presence of the token strongly
            if it's a useful word then accumtokenlist := accumtokenlist || ' ' || token ||'*5' -- domain-specific words are also important
            if it's a stopword or reserved word, then do not add it to the list
            if it's not on my lists, then accumtokenlist := accumtokenlist || ' ' || token
                                         and normaltokenlist := normaltokenlist ||' ' || token
        end;
        --so now, we have two lists, one for NEAR and one for ACCUM
        now build the guts of the template
            querytemplate := querytemplate || '<seq> || normaltokenlist || '</seq>';
            querytemplate := querytemplate || '<seq> || replace (accumtokenlist, ' ',' ACCUM ') || '</seq>';
            querytemplate := querytemplate || '<seq>$' || replace(normaltokenlist,' ','$') || '</seq>';
            querytemplate := querytemplate || '<seq>? || replace(replace(accumtokenlist,' ',' ?'),' ', ' accum ') || </seq>';  -- first fuzzy the words, then accum
            querytemplate := querytemplate || '<seq>? || replace(replace(normaltokenlist,' ',' ?'),' ', ' near ') || </seq>';  -- first fuzzy the words, then near
        return querytemplate
    end;So, with a 'cooked' query text that is template-friendly, all we need to do is apply a template that is aware of your inputs:
    query_Template_string := '
    <query>
       <textquery lang="ENGLISH" grammar="CONTEXT"> horizontal stabilizer*5 trim brake*10
         <progression> '
    || parse_query('horizontal stabilizer trim brake')  ||
    '     </progression>
       </textquery>
      <score datatype="INTEGER" algorithm="COUNT"/>'
    </query>So that's an example of one approach.

    You'll be getting this in your case update (answer in response to the internal conversation we've been having about your issue)
    So if they really want to control wildcard searches then they should look in the "personalstore.properties" file for the domain (default: /var/opt/SUNWuwc/WEB-INF/domain/personalstore.properties) for the value of "db.idir.wildcardsearch". Its possible settings are documented in the comments. If they wish to disable all "*" and "*x*" searches (i.e. turn off the 'All' and selecting a letter options) they should set the value to at least 2.

  • Why is does the search query box collapse in  Acrobat CS4

    In the last few weeks or so, when  I try searching for text in a pdf document in Acrobat CS4  the usual search query box that is supposed to pop up is "collapsed" - see the attached diagram. (In css language it looks like a collpased dv tag) There is no place to enter text and a strange drop shadow effect emerges? Has anyone else experienced this problem? Have any suggestions about how to resolve it?

  • Spatial query performance problem after upgrade to 10G

    I am in the process of converting my database from a 9i box to a new 10G 64-bit box. But I have found a problem which is causing some reports to be slower on the new box. I have simplified the queries down to having the user_sdo_geom_metadata table joined to use the diminfo in the queries (I know that I am not using them in these queries, but I simplified for testing purposes...)
    If I run the following I get and look at the explain plan I get full table scans for both spatial tables and index lookups for the user_sdo_geom_metadata table queries and runs for about 14 seconds.
    SELECT ROWNUM
    from COUNTIES s,
    NOMINATIONS O,
    (select diminfo from user_sdo_geom_metadata where table_name='COUNTIES') S_DIM,
    (select diminfo from user_sdo_geom_metadata where table_name='NOMINATIONS') O_DIM
    where sdo_filter(S.GEOM,o.geom, 'querytype=WINDOW')='TRUE'
    and sdo_geom.within_distance(o.geom,0,S.GEOM,.5)='TRUE';
    If I just remove the two user_sdo_geom_metadata joins, I get spatial index usage on COUNTIES and the whole thing runs in less that a second.
    SELECT ROWNUM
    from COUNTIES s,
    NOMINATIONS O
    where sdo_filter(S.GEOM,o.geom, 'querytype=WINDOW')='TRUE'
    and sdo_geom.within_distance(o.geom,0,S.GEOM,.5)='TRUE';
    I have rebuilt the indexes, gathered stats, and tried hints to force the first query to use the spatial index. None of which made any change.
    Has anyone else seen this?
    Gerard Vidrine

    Hi Gerard,
    When the query window comes from a table Oracle always recommends:
    1) Use the /*+ ordered */ hint
    2) Put the table the quiery window comes from (geometry-2 in the query) first in the from clause
    However, your query is also written very strange. Do you know about SDO_WITHIN_DISTANCE? Or are you trying to do SDO_ANYINTERACT (since the distance is 0)?
    So I would write the query you have as:
    SELECT s.ROWNUM
    from NOMINATIONS O, COUNTIES s
    where sdo_relate(S.GEOM,o.geom, 'querytype=WINDOW mask=anyinteract')='TRUE';
    or in Oracle10g:
    SELECT s.ROWNUM
    from NOMINATIONS O, COUNTIES s
    where sdo_anyinteract(S.GEOM,o.geom)='TRUE';

  • Search query not able to find node under a specific site structure (eg. 2013/05)?

    Hi,
        We are saving our data on a node under year/month site structure, eg. (2013/05/node1) but when we search for the data using a query in a custom workflow., it does not fetch any results.The query being fired is something like :
       SELECT * FROM [nt:base] AS s WHERE ISDESCENDANTNODE([/content/hm/NewsroomSection/en/NewsRoom/NewsroomDetails/2013/05/node1]) .
       On trying to run this query directly in crxde, it shows no result. But when we change the site structure to 2013/5/node1, it is able to fetch results.
       I am not sure if the problem is because of the '0' digit in the month in site structure (2013/05).
       Please provide your input if any of you have come across something like this before ..
    Thanks
    Abhishek

    Hi Abhishek,
    In case of nodes with numbers, any node starting with 0, this 0 gets omitted in the search query.
    So, if your node name is like 02013 for year, when it searches it omits 0 and searches for 2013.
    In case you want to search for your node, your SQL2 query should be like below:
    SELECT * FROM [nt:base] AS s WHERE ISDESCENDANTNODE(['/content/mysite/en/products/2013/05'])
    See screenshot for reference. This should return you the results.
    Hope this helps.
    I guess for more reference on SQL2 queries, you can refer to JCR 2.0 spec.
    http://www.day.com/specs/jcr/2.0/6_Query.html
    Also, you might want to look at the railroad diagrams and some examples from Jackrabbit's test cases:
    http://www.h2database.com/jcr/grammar.html
    http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/jackrabbit/trunk/jackrabbit-spi-commons/src/test/resources/or g/apache/jackrabbit/spi/commons/query/sql2/test.sql2.txt?view=markup
    Hope this helps.

  • What is a saved search query? And can I delete it?

    I was making some back up disk and created a Saved Search Query. Can the file that's on my desktop be trash? What exactly is this, and what is it's purpose.
    Greg

    Hi Gregory, and a warm welcome to the forums!
    It's an xml file with Aliases to a previous search criteria.
    Selecting "Find..." from the Finder's "File" menu (or typing another user-configurable keyboard shortcut, command-option-space by default) brings up an "advanced" Spotlight search window that includes a field for a search string (treated like the same string typed into the Spotlight menu bar drop-down search field) and any number of additional search conditions.
    Any search performed in this window can be saved as a "smart folder." This "folder" is actually nothing more than a plain file with a ".savedSearch" file name extension. The file contains an XML serialization of the Spotlight query.
    http://arstechnica.com/apple/reviews/2005/04/macosx-10-4.ars/9
    One way you can delete it by going to the Finder>File>Find, click on a Saved Search, click the little Minus icon...

    but none of these queries is working out for me as I am a user with no tables on its own but rather a user quering other tables.I think its a tweak on which dat adisctionary I can view

That view only includes columns that have a constraint on them.
    Use all_<b>tab</b>_columns if you're interested in all columns in all tables.
    select distinct substr (table_name, 1, 14) "Table",
    substr (t.column_value.getstringval (), 1, 50) "Column/Value"

    || '%'')'
    ).extract ('ROWSET/ROW/*')
    ) t
    order by "Table";You may have noticed that this site noramlly compresses whitespace.
    Whenever you post formatted text (such as query results) on this site, type these 6 characters:
    \(small letters only, inside curly brackets) before and after each section of formatted text, to preserve spacing.
    When referencing a table in a differenct schema, you must qualify the table name with the owner (unless there happens to be a synonym).  For example, if you are connected as some user other than scott, and you want to use the emp table that is in the scott schema; then you can't just say "SELECT ... FROM emp;", because that would look for the emp table in yur own schema.  You have to say "SELECT ... FROM <b>scott.</b>emp;" instead.  If the table is in your own schema, then the scema name is optional.  The OWNER column in all_tab_columns gives the schema name.
    running teh above query got me thsi error:
    ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing
    ORA-00942: table or view does not exist

    If I use the data dictionary view cols (as in {message:id=3325696} which you cited), it runs correctly.
    If use what I though was the equivalent data dictionary view, user_tab_columns, or if I use all_tab_columns or other data dictionary views, then I get those errors.  I'm using Oracle 10.2.0.1.0.
