Failure to stream continous video

Why won't my pc continously stream video without interruptions?  have a touchsmart pc - 6 G. of ram - 1 T. hd - win 7 - 64.

HI DesignStudent,
Can you tell us what modems and how the ports for iChat have been opened ?
A modem may have a software firewall in addition to needing the port opened. IF the ports are not opened then effectively the modem becomes a Hardware firewall.
Thomson Alcatel are a little more popular on the Continent and can have intermittent results if not tweaked to work with iChat.
Sometimes it comes down to how the ports are opened.
Some methods like Port Forwarding use what is called NAT (Network Address Translation). Now becuase there are about 6 ways of doing this you may have two device that "Don't Play Nicely"

What are the DSL speeeds at either end ?

  • Continous streaming of video signal on to PDA using TCP/IP?

can i have continous video image on my PDA , image Acquired by the host PC  using 802.11g wrelessTCP/IP protocol.( that is continous video streaming on to my PDA device.) I am developing an application to transfer video signals to my pda.I would define my application
I am developing robot having camera on it. my idea is to tranmit video image acquired by camera on host ( i.e robot ) to my PDA using wifi TCP/IP Protocol. i am able to control robot motion from pda using Daq pci-6229 on host.
    Thanks in advance.
    murari.

I think the only way this would be possible in LV was if you convert the images to the LV picture format, flatten that to a string, send the string over and unflatten it and write it to a picture indicator.
    There are several potential problems:
    1. 7.0 was the first version of the PDA module. I don't remember how much support it has for the picture control, although I believe it should have enough. The newest version is 8.0, which was just released.
    2. Depending on the size of the picture, this can be a lot of data. Since you have a g connection, that should be less of a problem, but it still may be an issue, depending on your frame rate. I once wrote a VI which recognized which parts of an image were changed and used a special (very primitive) protocol to send the data to the PDA (I was thinking of a cellular connection and wanted to minimize the amount of data), but I did that for the LV interface, which was mostly static, and I only detected that when it changed.
    3. PDAs have significantly less processor power than a PC. Depending on your frame rate, this may be hard for the PDA.
    4. The PDA module only supports 8 bit color, and that will require you to do additional computation to make the picture look normal. 8 introduced 16 bit support.
The upside is that writing the code for converting, sending, receiving and displaying the data is very very simple (assuming you can get it into the picture control format, not IMAQ, which isn't supported as far as I know). Just have a loop run on the computer side which will "acquire" the frame, flatten and send it, and another on the PDA side which will receive, unflatten and display. I think on the PDA side you will have to update the picture pixel by pixel.
Try to take over the world!

  • Is it possible to play continous videos in my Ipad3

I want to play continous videos on my ipad....how it can be possible.

    sandyaudiovisual,
Very good point.  I was, in a way, asking both.
Yes, it appears that actually streaming multiple streams of video while visibly playing in synchronization simultaneously will be very difficult.
So, I was thinking that as an alternative, I could pre-mix the multiple "streams" of video into just one video.  E.g., a single video file, with for example five squares each with a different video inside of it.  So to the view, in a sense, it looks like five streaming videos in sync.
What I would then want to do, in that situation, is be able to mute/solo an audio track associated with each "video".  In reality, it would be a single video channel, with five audio channels, switchable while maintaining synchronicity.  Though the extra wiggle is that rather than simply switching between 1 and 5, it would be preferable to actually mix in/out channels 1-5, so that at any time, 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 audio channels would be playing, in synchronicity, and could be muted/soloed.
To give a visual idea, there would likely be a mute and solo button composited on top of each "video" box inside the main video.
It would be easier if we could actually stream five separate video files and have them be in sync, with all stopping to wait should one need to rebuffer, and all sharing the same transport controls, because then if we want to swap out one video, we just swap that file, rather than remake the entire file in Final Cut or whatever.  But this is sounding less and less possible.

  • Mid 2011 mbp i7 with a SSD has problems, including grey screen/blue screen/beeping/freezing when I stream live video (i.e. watch espn or time warner cable) Help? Ideas?

Recently my Macbook Pro (June 2011, i7, 8gb RAM, 512gb SSD, AMD Radeon 6750, Mountain Lion - since July - currently 10.8.2) has been presenting me with an array of problems, usually initiated when I am streaming live video. I was streaming Time Warner Cable on 12/9 and it gave me what looked like the blue screen of death.  It started up after about five attempts that time. The other day, after about a week of not using the computer, it wouldn't boot past the grey screen. I (option) started it and it gave me two boot choices, the regular HD and a "10.8 restore" option.  The HD gave me the grey screen and the restore option gave me the dark blue screen. I reset PRAM and that didn't work.  After a force (x) start it worked.  Today, I was using "Watch ESPN" and the screen froze and the computer did some kind of repeating RAM beep or something.  I rebooted and it started up fine.  I'm not watching any videos anymore, but this is a problem since the primary purpose for my mbp is video editing. I'm still under AppleCare but I find more solid answers in the forums or at least better questions for the AppleCare people.
Anybody have similar experiences, or a solid idea of what the heck has happened to my machine?

I'm not really sure what method that person was talking about. I just read he had a successful install so I posted it.
    But I'll hazard a guess
    1. copy your entire drive to a backup drive
    2. boot into that drive and test it out - make sure its a flawless backup, it works, and the hard drive has no problems
    3. eject that drive, disconnect it and reboot into the leopard install dvd
    4. erase your main hard drive using disc utilities on the leopard install dvd -- you've made a backup, made sure that backup was good, and disconnected it so it's currently safely disconnected from the leopard install you're about to do. Also, on the hard drive you're erasing and installing leopard on to, many people recommend "Zeroing" it as well as erasing it. That option is part of the erase function in disc utilities on the leopard install disc.
    5. do a clean install of leopard
    6. follow step 4 from that original post exactly as that person described to do.
    7. read the rest of what they said
That's pretty much it. With the backup/erase/clean install/import/ you pretty much get everything you need exactly the way you want it with very few things missing -- and you've done this over a clean install. Plus that poster did mention that you can select what you want to import from your backup hard drive.
It sounds like its a "clean install" method that gives you control via "import from machine" option in the installer. Control over what parts of your "old mac" you want to import into your "new leopard mac".
Hopefully that helps. It sounds more involved, but its actually pretty quick and provides you with a perfectly save backup in case anything goes wrong with the leopard install.

  • I subscribe to Acorn TV. I am unable to stream their videos. I have no problem with Hulu, iTunes, Netflix. I have spoken with Acorn and have tried Firefox, Chrome and Safari, but nothing works. I am using a MacBook OS 10.6.8 and Firefox 3.6.12

I am a premium subscriber to AcornTV. I have been unable to stream video on my home MacBook Pro (OS 10.6.8) using Firefox 3.6.12. I can easily stream Hulu, iTunes, Netflix, etc, but NOT AcornTV. I have tried the AcornTV player on Safari, Chrome and Firefox, nothing works. I use Time Warner High Speed internet at home, and they claim the problem is on Acorn's end, which Acorn denies. The biggest frustration is that I CAN stream Acorn videos on my office iMac desktop, using the same OS and same version of Firefox (we have our own server at work, though).

I'm watching it right now on Firexfox, but it's on a Dell, not a Mac. Have you tired watching it on a Chrome or IE browser instead of Firefox? And does it work on those browsers?
You should continue to follow up with Acorn TV - email [email protected] and you will get help, from the CTO, if necessary. Also, they now have a diagnostic page built that can analyze your computer and it will give them more information about your system. So, if you haven't tried in two months, it might be worth trying again.

  • Possible Bug in iOS 8 via Streaming iTunes Video results in lost storage space?

Hi looking for suggestions or help on this issue if you can.
I'm not sure if the issue is my attempting to stream a movie from iTunes under iOS 8 or if it is a result of the iOS 8 update (size) itself or some type of memory leak or inability of memory to be released back to the OS.
This AM I had ~4.8GB of free space on my 16GB iPhone 5C; running under iOS 7. I then updated to iOS 8 by connecting the phone to my iMac and doing the install through iTunes under a USB wired connection. I however I did NOT check after the update how much space was "Available" after the update on the iPhone itself.
While streaming a long movie (LOTR extended) from the iCloud through the Apple Video app; now under iOS 8, I received a notification that my Storage space was nearly used up. While looking in Settings\Usage\Storage I can see that I had roughly 250MB of space "Available" but only 12.7GB was "USED." Here is were things get strange. Looking into the "Manage Storage" section I added up all of the space "used" by the apps listed (Video app was NOT listed) and came up with a sum of 6GB of used space. Now why is that? The listed 12.7GB of used space is not equal to 6GB what is using up the remaining 6.7GB?
Now my research of the web suggests iOS 7 was ~3.5GB in size and my best GUESS at iOS 8 is that it is a16GB - 12.7GB = 3.3GB; although I thought iOS 8 was going to use up more space? For the sake of argument lets say iOS 8 is 5.8GB and my calculated Used Space it 6GB, that equals 11.8GB. Where are the remaining 4.2GB?
Keep in mind I added No new apps (albeit a few updates to FindMyFrieds, Remote, Pages, AirPort Utility, FindMyiPhone all to be iOS 8 compatable).  I also force quit the VIDEO app thinking that the video that was streaming was taking up local storage while it was playing. Is it possible that the memory was used up by the stream and is not being Released; hence it seems I have no available space?
Powering the phone down and re-starting it did not seem to do anything.
I still need to go home, connect to iTunes and double check if the available space on the phone matches to what iTunes see.
Thanks and sorry for the long question, just wanted to get as many variables out there in case anyone else has had this issue.

searching.4.answers . . . sounds like you too were able to "inform" your device that the content is no longer needed, great.  I posted a solution that later didn't work for me when I streamed another video (see my post dated Nov 1 - cjdmedia).  I then had great success using what others in this forum have suggested . . . I downloaded the free ibrowse app (do a quick google search for this and you'll find the website for it).  Sure enough it was a piece of cake to navigate to the iCloud assets folder and find and delete the video file.  That is my solution from now on.  Unfortunate that I need to do that to have my storage space clear.
Also in my post I shared that I thought this was a bug, unfortunately I now believe that this could be intended behavior.  The only question is how long does this data just sit there until it is removed by the system? or is it removed by the system?  If it is not removed by the system at some point then a strong argument could be made that this is a bug. Streaming means that data is not permenantly saved on the device, right?
My fundamental issue is that I have 16GB storage that really means I have a total of 12.8GB (so says my iPhone).  With no personal photos or videos, only 300MB of music, some books etc, and all the apps I want installed on my iPhone I end up with only 9GB available for anything else.  A typical movie in HD takes up half of that.  Not aware that the data of movies was being stored on my phone while streaming I completely filled up my iPhone only days after completely wiping and setting up.  When I got the notification that my phone was full when trying to take video of my kids Trick-or-Treating - I was infuriated that something was hogging the memory in my phone, perhaps I had upgraded to iOS 8 too early before known issues were eliminated.  I thought I had 9GB of space for pictures and video!  To be fair, Apple did not ruin Halloween because my wife had her iPhone.  I also know that this "issue" has been around since iOS 7 (based on my searching) and I haven't seen any confirmation it has ever been dealt with.  From another apple discussion forum stream itunes purchased movies to iPad I discovered that if your device is almost full you can still "stream" because somehow the system knows how much space you have and then behaves more like what you'd expect from streaming which is interesting.
So to wrap this long post . . . it is obvious that to stream there needs to be data stored locally, but it is unclear how much data and how long this data will stay on your device.  The quickest solution (requires a computer) is to use the iBrowse app and manually delete the movie files in the iCloud assets folder.

    Hello ...

  • Insufficient bandwidth to stream HD video

When using Amazon Prime to stream HD video content, I now receive a recommendation that suggests watching my HD content in SD due to INSUFFICIENT BANDWIDTH. Is this a fault of the AppleTV I own (2nd generation), my Airport Extreme router, my Motorola SB6120 cable modem, or my Comcast Professional Tier internet service. I've read that Comcast and others may be the source of this problem related to Netflix, Amazon, and other content providers. I need to know what to do to correct the problem, if there is a solution.

Check speedtest.net to see what your current connection is. Check that against the plan you're paying for. Is it the same, or close? Note: HD streaming needs at least 6mbps.

  • Captivate 4 : How to stream a video with smil file ?

I am trying to stream a video hosted on Highwinds CDN. Highwinds provides a web link for every uploaded flv file and does not accept calling the video directly with an rtmp link.
I have tried to insert flash video using these settings :
Video Type : Flash Video Streaming Service
    URL : http://hwcdn.net/xxxxx/fms/captivate-swf-to-flv-Cam4-5fps.smil
When I press detect size, green circle keeps running and cannot get the dimensions.
Also when I publish the project (AS3 or AS2), video player on the slide does not show up, no video play.
I have been able to stream above file with smil web link using jw player, so there is no problem with the file and streaming service (highwinds).
I guess I am doing something wrong with Captivate 4 or Captivate 4 does not handle smil files ?
What may be a a solution to stream flv video using smil files ?
    Regards,
    Semih

    Hi there
As you have seen, Captivate 4 introduces a total change in functionality with respect to the way the menu works. Now, all you may do is link to different slides. So this means you have to think a bit outside the box.
One way to achieve what you are wanting is to create a slide that has as its only purpose, Opening a URL. You assign this action using a new field in the Slide properties. On Slide Enter. Then you point your TOC entry to this slide. Of course this also means you will need to consider what happens after the slide that opens the URL is visited. So you will need to exercise some creativity here.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Is it possible to stream live video & audio from device cameras & mics to a server?

I would like to know if I can use flash builder to stream live video and audio from Android & IOS device cameras and mics to a media streaming server such as Flash Media Server or Wowza? I know the Android & IOS APIs allow for this but can it be done using Flex/Actionscript? The key here is "live" so you wouldn't want to have to wait for video and audio files to complete on the disk before sending it out. Ideally you would send it out via RTMP or HTTP streaming to stream out but any stream would do since once it gets to the server you can encode it.

    Hi
Yes, It's can do but There is a problem on IOS 8 when Switch Camera, Microphone is muted and Sound return when I press home button from my iphone out and press app again for few second
You can use as same as flash desktop video streaming for coding in mobile.
    Good luck

  • Does My Photo Stream share video?

This article says My Photo Stream dors not work with video: My Photo Stream FAQ - Apple Support
This photo is a screen shot from page 95 of the manual for iOS 8.1. I highlighted the part that says My Photo Stream uploads video. This seems conflicting. Am I missing something?

The following two quotations are from: iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ
The photos you upload to My Photo Stream are stored in iCloud for 30 days to give your devices plenty of time to connect and download them.
Your iOS devices keep a rolling collection of your last 1000 photos in the My Photo Stream album. From there, you can browse your recent photos or move the ones you like to your Camera Roll or another album to keep them on your device forever.

You may consider doing that, it largely depends on what you want the movie for once you have it on your Mac, sending it to YouTube is likely to cause it to lose much of its quality.
