Failure to Upgrade I-Os5

My 3gs refuses to accept an OS Update.
It's still working fine under 3.1.3.
Since the new OS has been available, I have repeatedly backed it up and tried to update.
It always reports back the device in not eligible for the update.
I've tried "Update" and Restore to get the new OS into it, and all have failed with "Ineligible to Update".
What a pain.....
Great way to force customers to buy a new phone..since some needed apps don't work on OS3 anymore.

Don't know why...But when I downloaded I Tunes 10.5 on another Mac of Mine...It was able to identify the 3Gs for the update, and download/install it with no problems.
I tehn put it back in my main MacPro and restored/synch'd the old back-ups and it's working nicely. Though all my email from the old OS is missing.
Also, all my Videos are nowhere to be found.
The process was HORRIBLE but the end result is my 3Gs runs nw apps it couldn't under 3.1.3...and it feels as speedy as ever.
Glad I thoght of trying another Mac...maybe some security softweare is blocking or mis-identifying the Phone and it's original OS 3.1.3 or maybe I had a corrupt backup file somewhere.

PC wont recognize iphone4 after restore failure trying to upgrade to OS5

After trying to upgrade to OS5, I received a failure notice on the restore and it said to update my Windows7 and restart. Now my PC will not recognize the iphone as a device in MyComputer or in iTunes. The phone just displays the illustration screen asking to USB connect to iTunes. I've tried a hard reset on the phone but it doesn't help. It's not the computer's USB port, I've tested that... Help?

Did you see the very end of this about not having enough space left on your computer specific to therror code 3014?
Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.
Error 3002: If you experience this error while updating an iPod touch (2nd generation) or iPhone 3G, please use the standard update or restore process in iTunes (click Update or Restore).
Error 3014 may indicate that you need to free up more disk space on the computer before trying to restore again.

After upgrade to OS5, I can no longer sync to my Outlook calendar

I recently upgrade to OS5 but now I can no longer sync to my Outlook calendar, any advice?

I have this problem too, only I now have Firefox 9.0.1.
I don't know what the developers are doing to Firefox recently, but it makes me want to switch to another browser. Please make it work like it always used too. There were never this kind of problems when you were "thinking" about and fully testing each update.

I've a few issues, my old computer was out of memory and i changed to a new one which was already on another itunes account. When i upgraded to os5 my library has gone it has synced with the new computer - how do i restore the old ipad information? ple

If you still have the old computer, you should be able to connect the iPad, run iTunes and restore from a backup from a previous sync. Now that you have it updated, you will not need to do that again.

Go to System Preferences > iCloud and make sure your account info is correct, delete the password and reenter to be sure it is clean. Go to Mail and then open Preferences and check the account informaiton for the iCloud account and again, delete and reenter the password for the account. Sometimes the passwords get garbled during an upgrade.

Upgrading to OS5 problem

I have tried for six hours to get iphone4 to upgrade to OS5 and pc stops on backup process. Any ideas? There is about 19g of stuff on phone so 6 hours to backup about 10% seems a bit rediculous. Please help

Issue occurred after upgrading from v2.99.912-1 to v2.99.914+. I was going to try downgrade xf86-video-intel to v2.99.912-1 (as in the first thread in Refs) but went in a dependency conflict, with the older intel driver requiring glamor-egl which conflicts with xorg-server ':-|

The issue occurred after upgrading from xf86-video-intel-v2.99.912-1 to v2.99.914+ and xorg-server-1.15.2-1 to 1.16.0-6 (and -devel).
same issue if:
- Switching accelaration method to "UXA" as per https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/40860
- Adding Option "DRI" "False"
Digged a bit:
- same modules errors but appears to be a Gnome bug (X starts): https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1441716

makes me doubt if this issue is related to the modules not found. Which is the single indication I found so far x-/
Any light on where can the issue comes from? hardware is pretty much standard even if getting a bit old. Never had Xorg related issue so far on this pancake.

This started happening to me on my iPhone 4. Some text messages show only the numer they came from and those same numbers do not show the contact name in my calls list, even though the contacts are saved and synced via iCloud. I have tried to save different versions of the number in the same contact, but it won't work. If I call one of the recent numbers though, the conact comes up. I have tried reseting and restoring to no avail.

Battery drain on iPhone 4 after upgrading to Os5

Since upgrading to OS5, my battery goes from 100% to switching off in about 3 hours, even if i don't use it at all which is really frustrating.
Is there anything I can do to either go back to the previous OS or fix the apparant bug?

LOST ALL CONTACTS from Upgrade to OS5... Can I export my Contacts from MobileMe account Contacts..

I'll try and make this as short as possible... Was doing the upgrade to OS5 (had to update new iTunes software first). Was in sync mode, and always crashed into 80% from completion, and had message - An error occurred while restoring this iphone (-20).. Long story short "ish" was I think I didn't have enough space on my start up disc.. I NOW HAVE SPACE, I'm also now running OS5, and have everything as before EXCEPT ALL of my CONTACTS dissapeared.. And for some reason my Address book on my Mac is now empty..
My ipad, as well if I go to MobileMe has all my existing contacts, pleeeeease tell me how I can transfer them back to my iphone..
I will be VERY VERY happy..

IPhone does not work in car after upgrading to os5

After upgrading to os5 my build in hands free device does not work properly anymore, lot of noise, disconnects, connects in general not usable anymore.
How to fix this?

Does your aftermarket solution connect to the Nano's headphone jack or to the dock connector?
If it connects to the headphone jack I would suggest buying an iPhone headphone adapter. I'm expecting mine to arrive via FedEx tomorrow so that I can use my iPhone in the car with a cassette adapter.

Problems syncing with iTunes after upgrading to OS5

After upgrading my iPod 3G software to OS5, when I plug my iPod into my Mac (OS10.6.8), iTunes (v10.5) will freeze for several minutes before it can be used again. When I sync my iPod, iTunes will sync all my video podcasts to the iPod, even the ones that were already there, each and every time. I've tried resetting my iPod, but that hasn't worked. Wondering if other people have experienced the same problems and if anything has worked?

No longer able to sync with yahoo calendar after upgrade to OS5

Last night I upgraded my IPhone 4 to OS5 and when I went to look at my calendar this afternoon found almost all of my calendar data was missing except for some VERY old entries such as birthdays. I have never before used iCal or iCloud, just syncing between yahoo and the iPhone directly. All the account information seems to be correct. I just tried opening iCal on my Macbook Pro and set up the yahoo account in there, and the account seemed to sign in okay but no data appeared on the calendar. I am a very new mac user in the scheme of things, so have no idea how to even try an fixes for this, but it's very frustrating. If anyone has any suggestions or ways to fix this I'd love to hear them. Thanks so much.

This just happened to me. Lost all my info on my phone but when I logged onto my laptop it showed all info was still in my calendars. If this is the same for you need to go to your settings, then go to mail,contact,calendar, then go to add account, then other, add CalDAV account.. You will have 4 things to fill out put Yahoo (server name) put your yahoo email and password and the description as yahoo... When you hit save will change the server name on it's own to CalDAV.calendar.yahoo.ca..... Once this goes threw all your info should come back to your calendar. This is what I did and it worked. Hope this helps.......

ITunes restore error message after iphone upgrade to OS5

Since installing iphone OS5 I've been getting a message when connecting to itunes that my restore was interrupted and would I like to continue to restore from my last backup. I've tried restoring several times and I keep getting the same error message at the end of the restore. I also had trouble installing the OS5 upgrade because of an error -34 (something related to the fact that my music was compressed). How do I restore my phone so that this error does not keep appearing? It seems no data was lost.

Do you still have access to the old system? If so drag the iPHtoo library on the new system to the desktop and Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc) or use an external hard drive formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.
