Failure with second PCI vga card..

I recently found a monitor in my backyard, and decided i'd try a multimonitor setup.
So i installed an old ati 3d rage pro card in a pci slot. Booting up, nothing appared on the other screen, but the card showed up in device manager without any problems. Initializing pci card first, resulted in both screens turning on, but system hang at log in. I use w2k.
So i upped to bios 2.6, same thing happens, and my w2k installation goes corrupt. So i install w2k again and just install the drivers for the onboard vga, and hey it works! But only when i initialize pci first.
But when i install the rest of the drivers for the mainboard it all fucks up again and hangs after i press log on... Any clues? I used the latest msi nforce drivers, i have removed all other cards from the pc.
tnx

if you mean power supply by ps, it's a brandless tower.
I have 1x256 meg PC2100 ram, not sure about brand here either. Maybe it'd help with a second chip?

  • Driver for Creative graphics blaster 3D CLGD5464 pci vga card

Can anyone tell me from where to find the driver for Creative graphics blaster 3D CLGD 5464 pci vga card. The driver in Solaris8 is for CLGD 5465 which is not compatible with my card. The solaris detects my card as CLGD 5465 but it doesent work. Can anyone tell me what should I do about it?
    thanks, Kashif ([email protected])

If it is not supported by the Xserver under Solaris you may find you can get it to work by installing XFree86 (www.xfree86.org), there are compiled binaries for Solaris Intel that will make the transition easier (personally I found the 3.3.5 version works well). First check at www.xfree86.org if your videa-card IS supported under XFree though. There are some tweaks you need to add to get it all to work in the Solaris x86 FAQ. Since you probably have to do all of this in non-gui its not easy but can be done.

  • K9N Neo V3 : PCI-E and PCI-E x1/PCI VGA cards at the same time ?

    Hello,
I'm thinking about getting one more VGA card to resolve my dual screen issue :
    Quote
I use two monitors. PC monitor as first screen, TV is extended for watching videos.
    PC : Philips 220aw (22", 1680x1050 @ 60Hz) DVI-DVI
    TV : LG 42lh3000 (42", 1920x1080 @ 24Hz) DVI-HDMI
I've been trying to get smooth playback on the TV for days, but random stutter happens.
When a video (mostly HD contents) is played on the TV while using the PC monitor, things like minimize/maximize windows, page scrolls stutter and so does the video. Idle while watching videos also stutters randomly.
I tried almost every combinations of renderers/codecs/players, tried by desactivating aero and all the fancy graphics, but it didn't solve the problem.
The only way i get smooth playback on the TV, is by desactivating the PC monitor. (Using nVidia panel or "Win" key+P), so only the TV is active.
I tried with a Blu-Ray using DXVA and it was smooth.
I haven't got a chance to test with a better graphic card yet. This issue doesnt happen on XP though.
    Here are the specs :
    K9N Neo V3
    Athlon 64 x2 @ 3Ghz
    4Go DDR2-800
    8800 GT 512Mo (driver 197.45)
    Win7 Ultimate 32 Bits.
    Corsair 450W 80+
My question is : Can i add a PCI-E x1 or a PCI VGA card on this motherboard, so each screen will have its own VGA card ?
If so, both nVidia or ATI would work ?
    Thank you.

It would be one of these, if it is allowed by the K9N Neo V3.

I will try to test with an ATI card if i can find one.

  • Noise measurment of an accelerometer with the PCI-4461 card

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to measure the noise of an single axis accelerometer with a PCI-4461 card.
First, I have manually measured this noise using an HP35665 signal analyser. I obtain something like this:
And now with LabView and the PCI-4461 card, I get this:
My question is: where does this part come from? And how to remove it ? (Since it doesn't exist with the signal analyser)
    I'm using LabView 8.5.
This is how I configured the DAQ acquisition:
    and this is my VI:
Thank you in advance for helping
    Arthur
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hello
Yes indeed, the time signal seems to have two paterns (in green below), once negative and positive once about 50 ms later. This pattern is repeated with a frequency of 0.94 Hz (for simplicity let's say 1Hz).
I have reproduced this pattern with matlab using a decreasing exponential:
I have obtained this spectral signal:
That closely looks like what disturbs the spectrum, indeed..
Then I have tried to output a sinewave and acquire it:
    I didn't see any problem.
So I made the measurment with other sensors.
The sensors are ICP accelerometers. The sensors that I am using are in page 7 of these document:
    https://docs.google.com/viewer?url=http%3A%2F%2Fvibrasens.com%2Fimages%2Fpdf%2FVS_Catalog.pdf
(I'm currently doing an intership in this company)
And finally I found that the problem came from the cable: when I use the shielded cables, the problem is present; and when I use "normal" cable, there is not the problem, as you can see :
(In red, the sensor is connected with a non shielded cable, and in white, with a shielded one.)

  • Ultra 60 with a Hercules VGA Card wont show me anything

    Hi there,
i just have a Ultra 60 on my desk, and unfortunately I am not getting anything on my screen. Is there anything special I should look after to get the U60 with the Hercules PCI Card to work? The Model of the hercules VGA Card is: Terminator 3D/DX with a S3 Virge/DX <- if that is of any help.
    Thanks

    Hello Niels,
Is there anything special I should look after to get the U60 .... to work?
The Hercules PCI card (and any other PC graphics board) won't work with a SPARC system. You have to use a card with OpenFirmware not a VGA BIOS. Please review the Sun System Handbook page of the Ultra 60 for supported cards.
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/U60/U60.html
    http://sunsolve.sun.com/handbook_pub/Systems/U60/components.html#Graphics
I assume you got the Hercules card for free. The required Sun graphics boards are very inexpensive today (from second hand, e.g. eBay).
Even with a Sun graphics card (frame buffer) but without a Sun keyboard the output is directed to the serial console.
There is a german language Sun home user site http://www.sonnenblen.de

Just disable the gameport on "Device Manager" to see if it's the culprit.
Have you also played with mouse settings (acceleration and saple rate)?

  • Dell optiplex 755 won't boot with NI PCI Fieldbus card installed

After installing NI Configurator 3.1.0 on new Dell optiplex 755 and then installing the NI PCI Fieldbus card the pc won't boot up.
This card works fine 745 and older dell pc's.
    Anybody else having this problem?

    Hi,
In which step does the boot process fail? Is there any error message?
After installing NI-FBUS 3.1, please go to Windows Device Manager, check whether the driver of PCI-FBUS is correctly installed. There should be no any error in Device Manager.
You can try the following methods.
    1. Change to another PCI slot.
    2. Use Windows XP. NI-FBUS 3.1 does not support Windows Vista.
    3. If there exist other PCI devices in the system, remove them and try using PCI-FBUS only.
    4. Update the drivers of Dell Optiplex 755 if there are new versions, including video card, ethernet card, etc.

  • Overclocking my PT880 got best results with a PCI video card instead of a AGP card. Why?

    Hi guys,
I posted a complete review of my PT880 OC experience at the "Overclocking section of the forum: thread post PT880 OC results" : https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?threadid=48006&sid=&threadview=0&hilight=&hilightuser=0&page=2
Some days of test with my new PT880 board and I was able to run my P4 (B?) 2.4Ghz at 18 x 154 = 2772 Mhz. I got this speed using a cheap PCI card XFX GeForce 4 MX440, from my old P3 computer. I also got system to work with higher FSBs, but with some unstable sound board issues that I related on the link above.
This week I decided to change the card to another same cheap XFX GeForce 4 MX440, but now a AGP 8x version. My surprise is that the system started to hang with just 20~30 seconds of use. Setting the front side bus to 133 helped to fix the stability issue. Playing a bit more I could OC using a 144 FSB, getting a final speed of 2592. Trying higher FSBs results in a unstable system again.
This makes me wondering if the AGP/PCI is really locked. Using 144 FSB, it is supposed that an unlocked AGP port will be running at 72 Mhz, what is the limit for some AGP cards... My BIOS setup is using the AGP clock option at the default of 66Mhz. Is it really working at this speed?
If the AGP/PCI bus speed is really locked in this VIA PT880 MSI motherboard, why this difference in OC results when I change from a PCI to an AGP card (same manufacturer, same nvidia chipset) ? Will be the northbridge more occupied now?
    My PC setup now:
    - MSI PT880 LSR with Bios upgraded to 1.4
    - Pentium 4(B? 533Mhz) 2.4Ghz
    - 512Mb DDR PC3200 NonECC ADATA Memory (just one module, so just single channel)
    - XFX GeForce4 MX440 AGP8x
    - Seagate 120Gb 7200RPM ATA100
    - Seagate 80Gb 7200RPM ATA100
    - Prolink PlayTV HD (conexant cx88)
    - Sound Blaster Live! 4.1
    - LG DVD-RW 4040b
    - 450W generic PSU
    That's all for now

Your AGP bus uses more bandwith than the PCI bus, thus making the OC more dependend from the AGP bus. And if your AGP slot will drain more CPU power and fragile as AGP can be, it will not tolerate errors due higher clock speeds. Mhz += Stability -. Notice: PCI is 33 Mhz/ AGP is 66/133 Mhz... . As you see there is less margin for errors. While you overclock the CPU will make tolerable errors: NP with PCI... But AGP... will take it to the MAX. [I hope this reply is No nonsense]

  • Is it possible to boot a 7300 with a PCI USB card with OS 8.5 on a flash drive? Thanks

Just wondering if it's possible to run a PowerMac 7300/180 with the operating system installed on a flash drive which fits into a USB PCI card? The old hard drive finally went bad and was just wondering if there was any form of flash storage alternative to purchasing a new SCSI hard drive. I have an original OS 8.5 installation CD, would that install onto a flash drive if the computer is able to recognize it? Thanks!

Unfortunately, USB support in the older "PCI" Power Macs isn't firmware-based, so it won't be found in the 7300's ROM code.  If available, it's through the addition of a USB PCI card and is driver-based.  You can't boot from a device, if the drivers needed for recognition of the bus (on which that device is connected) are loaded after the boot sequence has been initiated.  USB flash drives are very useful for extra data storage in those old Macs, but you really need to be running OS 8.6 and download/install the "USB Adapter Card Support 1.4.1" for recognition of the PCI card itself.  If running OS 8.6, I've found that the optimal database of supported USB peripherals is contained in the USB Support files, that are included in the OS 9.1 Update.  The files need to be extracted with "TomeViewer" and placed in the OS 8.6 Extensions Folder.  Again, this will only help with the recognition of a USB device when the computer is up and running.  It cannot make a connected USB flash drive capable of booting the computer.

  • How do i create 6 digital 25Hz PWM output signals with my PCI-6221 card?

    Hi!
I´m a student, who´s trynig to control a gasturbine process for my diploma thesis. The control program should be written in LabView 8. I need to control 6 25 Hz PWM signals for the gasvalves. The  needed accuracy of the duty cycle has to be about  0.1 %.
A  tech. engeneer from  NI  told  us , that  we can  do this by using one single digital output for each PWM.
Now, after a while, i need to implement it into my program. But there are troubles:
My NI-PCI-6221 standard card only has 2 couteroutputs and only the first of the 3 ports seems to be buffered (Error Nr.  201062)...
I tried to do the programming, by manipulating the "DIO_PWM_50Hz.vi" I found in google.
Does anyone of you have any information or helpful examples how i can create these PWM with my card, or did I get a wrong Information by the salesagent (...not the first time....)?
    Thanks for your help
    Tobi

Here you can find an example, how to do this:
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niepd_web_display.display_epd4?p_guid=DE27921DB53A4D8DE034080020E74861&p_...
As the text says, best would be to use the counter. As your Hardware has only 2 Counters, you would need additional hardware. Best would be to use a Counter-Card (660x), thes boards have up to 8 counters, so you coulkd control your 6 gasvalves indipendently.
The soultion with the timed digital outputs of the m-series boards would only work, if you can use the same timing (one counter) for all 6 outputs.
    Hope this helps!

  • Problems with second 7970 Lightning Card?

    Hello
I purchased the MSI 7970 Lightning in May of last year as part of a new build.  The other components of the build that affect the running of the machine are:
    Asus P8Z77 WS Motherboard
    Intel i7 3770K CPU
    16GB Mushkin Ram (991991)
    Noctua NH-U12P SE2 Cooler
    Samsung 830 SSD x2
    Samsung Spinpoint F2 1TB HD
    Corsair AX850 PSU
    Windows 7 Home Premium
USB 3.0 PCIe card with 2 internal and 2 external sockets
    Sony CD Drive
With buying such high end products I thought I would have an easy hassle free build as I have built computers before with only one problem build that resulted from a faulty stick of memory.  I didn't intend to overclock at all initially and intended but wanted the option to if I needed to in the future.
How wrong was I?  The first Lightning card was faulty and would crash before it finished the Kombuster benchmark.  The system also suffered from continual 'AMD Driver has stopped responding and has recovered' stutters and occasional crashes even on the desktop.  I contacted the merchant I purchased it from and arranged a return.  It took a few weeks but I did eventually receive a replacement card through MSI.
Excuse the pun, but Lightning couldn't strike twice I thought, and the next card would work.  However, I still got the 'AMD Driver has stopped responding and has recovered' reports and the occasional crashes.  This card did at least complete the benchmark so I kept it and put it down to driver issues.
In my quest to resolve the issue I have tried the following:
I trawled the internet looking for probable causes and have tweaked the motherboard bios according to what was recommended on Asus forums to no avail.
I have downloaded the latest bios for the motherboard
I have used the most stable settings recommended in bios so as to cause least stress on a non-overclocked CPU
I have set up my SSD's in non-raid as I read Lucid Virtu MVP doesn't like that
I have done a fresh install of Windows 7 each time I downloaded new drivers for the graphics card so that there could be no old files affecting the driver's operation
I have used graphics drivers from the MSI site for the 7970 and also from AMD without success
I have run Memtest which came up with no errors.
I have also tried using just 8GB of the RAM in various configurations on the off-chance it was a faulty stick despite the Memtest result.
I don't have limitless hours to spend trying to rectify problems with my computer.  I tend to work on it when I take a holiday but, again, I can't continually take up all of my holiday time trying to sort this out.  Unfortunately many moons later I have still not got a stable computer that is usable (it is intended for my work primarily so i do need it to be stable.  I can't afford a crash in the middle of doing my work).
I'd like to get this rig working before the build becomes obsolete.  I have built several computers before but would not consider myself an expert so please don't get too technical with the jargon.
I would welcome any suggestions even if it is to arrange another RMA for the 7970.
    Thanks in advance
    Trevellion.

Ok, I did a fresh install.  At first I thought it had been the Lucid MVP software which was causing conflicts because the system appeared stable.  The computer would even recover from sleep mode (the stage where the fans stop) without mishap which had never been able to before.  Unfortunately, shortly afterwards I got the dreaded hang and the message 'AMD driver stopped responding and has recovered'.  It now seems to do this every time I switch the computer on now.  I just don't feel I can use this computer in it's current state for work as it's too unreliable.  Once the problems start they become much more frequent.
When I enter the Action Center, click 'Maintenance' and check under 'Review your computer's reliability and problem history', I can see multiple reports of 'Video Hardware Error'
Clicking on the report gives this message:

  • RTSI cable configuration with PCIe 1433 card

    Hi All:
I tried to trigger my line camera with RTSI signal.
The layout is: trigerr signal  is generated from one PCI card 6259 (Dev2/ctr0). The line camera is connected with one PCIe 1433 card, and the two cards were connected with RTSI cable.
The problem is that how to register or configure PCIe 1433 with RTSI cable in MAX, it seems I can only configure PCI card within RTSI cable ......
If it is true, how should I do to rout the trigger signal to the camera, such as "route Dev2/ctr0 to Trigger line 0"?
Below is printscreen of MAX Configuration. Attached is my VI.
    thanks a lot.
    Bob
    Attachments:
Triggered with RTSI from DAQ.vi ‏63 KB
    camera configuration.jpg ‏218 KB

Thanks a lot, the post helped.
But I am still confused with the details:
To camera and PCIe 1433 configruaration, as the attached pictures shows: RTSI is configurerd as Camera Control Line as number "2"; the exposure control of camera is defined as "triggered".
In previous attached VI, you may find that the IMAQ configurer trigger is applied to define trigger  type as "RTSI", trigger number as "2".
About ttrigger signal from PCI 6259 (Dev2), digital pulse is generated and output terminal is defined as ctr0 ( seems only ctr0 or ctr1 is option).
So I still do not know how to route signal from "Dev2/ctr0" to "Imag0 CCL 2" in labview.
By the way, I read  the online example "LL Triggered Ring using DAQmx Pulse Train", http://www.ni.com/example/29476/en/.  Within this VI,  the DAQmx Connect Terminals VI is applied to route the counter's output to a RTSI pin so the signal can be used by the IMAQ device. However Dev2/ctro is not recognized as scour terminal, only other items such as PFI, APFI or RTSI are avaible, and output signal source is also limited with similar things, sounds like just internal connectrion with Dev2.
    thanks a lot.

  • Trouble NetBooting Xserve G5 with PCI RAID Card

Has anyone else had problems NetBooting Xserve G5 with the PCI RAID card installed?
I've got a Dual 2.0 GHz and Dual 2.3 GHz Xserve G5 that both can't seem to NetBoot consistently. On the very odd occasion they do netboot but not very oftern. When you set the NetBoot volume from the Startup Disk system preference and reboot, they just fail to boot and eventually their fans go crazy.
I have other Xserve G5s that NetBoot just fine. I've tried different network cables and swapping switch ports with Xserves that work, but it hasn't helped.
Could it be something on the NetBoot server?
Looking at the system log on the NetBoot server you can see the "bootpd" request from the booting server. I don't have a graphics card install in the Xserves being NetBooted so don't know what's being displayed on the server's console.
The NetBoot server is an Intel-based Xserve (Late 2006) running 10.4.11.

that seems to be the next step here: find or purchase a new card to test the existing drives.
i had wondered if these cards aren't compatible with the 750 gb drives. does anyone know?
also, would a bad battery cause such craziness? does the battery keep read/write cache data on the 64mb on-card memory for just this purpose? i haven't found much documentation on the apple branded cards.
    thanks for your help.

  • Setting parameters for synching pci-6534 cards via RTSI bus

    I have been performing high-speed,
buffered, looping output with one pci-6534 card.  I am now adding
a second 6534 card that I need to sync to the first card via the RTSI
bus.  I have successfully used the RTSI bus to see the master REQ1
and ACK1 signals on those channels of the slave (seen at a connector
block), using the "RTSI control" vi.  I simply set the master and
slave as transmitter and receiver, respectively, over the RTSI bus.
The question is: Once I have used the RTSI control vi to share the
necessary signals, do I need to do anything in my "dio config," "dio
write," or "dio start" vi's in the looping output code for the 2nd 6534
card to let it know that its REQ, ACK, STPTRG, and CLK signals are
coming from the bus?  For example, in the buffered pattern looping
output vi, the "dio start" vi has choices of "internal" or "RTSI
connection" for its clock.  My master board's code simply uses the
internal.  Does my slave need to be set to RTSI connection, or,
once I have shared the clock signal over the RTSI bus, is that
effectively the internal clock for my slave too?
I apologize it this question is confusing.  Unfortunately, so is the issue.

    Hello bwz,
When you are performing synchronization across the RTSI bus you need to specify that the slave device should get its clock signals from there.  You would use the digital clock config VI to do this.  If you look in the example finder, you will find synchronization example VIs that do the same kind of thing for analog input.  To find the examples, open the example finder by going to Help >> Find Examples >> Hardware Input and Output >> Traditional DAQ >> Multiple Device.
If you are just getting started developing your application, you may want to consider using DAQmx.  There are many more examples available to look at for this type of synchronization.  To find these examples in the example finder go to Hardware Input and Output >> DAQmx >> Synchronization >> Multi-Device.  To use your PCI-6534 with NI-DAQmx, you must have version 7.4 or later.  The newest version is DAQmx 7.5.  You may also want to look at this tutorial about synchronization with DAQmx.
    I hope this helps!
    Laura
