Fair Market Value for 2011 macbook

I have a macbook that is in very good condition. The macbook has a intel core 2 duo processor, 2.26 GHz and 2Gb memory. I have all of the original packaging. I'm looking to sell it and would like to know fair market value. Thank you in advance!

  • Valuation Procedure to calculate Fair Market Value

    Hi Treasury Experts,
In the Treasury Hedge Management component we are looking for a valuation procedure which can handle the calculation of the Fair Market Value of the financial transactions in line with the standard FAS133 accounting standard.
We have financial contracts that run over several months. From the contract start date to contract valuation date we need to value based on comparing the spot rate of the transaction against the close rate applicable at valuation date. We can use the Price Valuation Procedure for Forward Exchange Transaction with step 3000 (Rate Valuation Spot/Spot Hedge Accounting) to calculate this piece of the Fair Value.
We also need to include in the calculation of the Fair Value a component from the valuation date to the contract maturity date. This piece of the valuation is based on an interpolation of the interest rates over the remaining days of the contract (from valuation date to maturity date).
Can you advise if there is a valuation step or perhaps number of valuation steps that can be used to calculate the Fair Value of a financial contract in line with this requirement? That is to value the contract from inception date to valuation date based on comparing the PV at spot versus the PV at close rate and then to value the contract from valuation date to contract maturity date based on the PV by the interpolated interest rates over the remaining days of the contract?
    Thanks for your advice.
    Mik

  • I'd like to know a fair asking price for my macbook pro before i throw it up for sell.

Hello everybody! if you dont mind i am asking for what you would ask for the macbook i have for sell! i opened it brand new december 23, 2012 with plans of taking an online course starting jan 7, 2013 on january 4th ,2013 i was admitted to the hospital and was there 3+months. i didnt take it back outta the box untill the begining of April once i was cleared to do ceratin activities again. it is a 15.4" macbook pro mid-2012 9,1 2.66ghz, 8gb ram, 750gb hdd, 10.8.3.mountain lion os x, if any more specs are needed for an fair estimate please let me know! i simply do not need this mamoth of a laptop so my plan is to sell it and then by a smaller mac or maybe evan an imac that will suit my needs. any advice is greatly appreciated! thank U much!    ---ryan

I'd suggest checking eBay - search your specific model.  Then, look in the left hand column on your screen for the words "More refinements ..."  Click it.  In the window that pops open, at the bottom of the left column, click "Show only."   Then click "Completed listings" and click Go.    Now you will see what MacBook Pros like yours actually sold for on eBay.
You can also get quotes from many of the online Mac resellers (for example, MacOfAllTrades) ... but they will only offer a price more like "wholesale" because they are in the resale business.
Third thought, if this is truly a like new, barely used MBP, you should be able to sell it for 80% or more of what you purchased it for.  Macs hold their value pretty well, especially if they are recent models.

  • Best External hard drive for 2011 macbook air

i recently recieved a 2011 macbook air and heard that it is easier on the computer to use an external hard drive
if this is true what would be the best reasonably priced one to buy?
    thanks

    http://www.hgst.com/external-drives/mobile/touro-mobile-pro
This I have found is a very good "bang for the buck" drive. 7200 RPM drive, and USB 3.0, if later you can advantage of it.  If you want anything faster, you will have to raise your budget quite a bit going with a Thunderbolt drive, in which case I would recommend the Seagate GoFlex.
You may also want to consider a LaCie's Rugged Triple in 500 GB 7200 RPM configuration, and use the $29.00 Thunderbolt-Firewire adapter.

  • No Windows 7 drivers avalible for 2011 macbook pro 15" (snow leopard 10.6.8) ?

Im hoping that you guys could help me with this one. I've run into a brick wall.
Trying to use boot camp to partition the hdd install a windows 7 x64, it seems impossible to get ahold of the drivers i need in windows.
The boot camp assistant splashes me with a option to download drivers, but states after some time "that there are no avalible drivers for your system."
Im lacking the original installation dvd, but found a dvd that is for a macbook pro 13". That helped me with everything but the keyboard and multitouchpad.
The functions that im lacking right now that i have found out is that the touchpad wont accept right clicks, no scrolling and no gestures, also the keyboard isnt lit up, and no functionkeys work. (like screen brightness, volume and cd/dvd eject key)
Im guessing that there also might be some other drivers thats missing, like the possibility to explore the osx disk from windows to share documents between the two operating systems.
Are there any other ways to get ahold of these drivers that i need without buying a dvd?
    Best regards
    Johan

Not really on that year, only thing that may work for you is Screen Sharing, where you run one from the other one, but not much help with what you wan't.

  • Which 8GB RAM upgrade chips for 2011 Macbook Pro?

I purchased my 2011 MBP with 4GBs of RAM because it seemed to me that I could eventually upgrade to 8GB for under $100.  It's time to start shopping for the upgrade and I need your advice.  These modules from Corsair, for example, seem to be ideal:
Corsair 8 GB DDR3 Laptop Memory Kit CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9
There are also several other options from Crucial, Kingston, and G.Skill, all in the $80-$90 range.  I have the following question:
    1.  Which brand do you recommend?
    2.  Are there any compatibility issues with the brands I have mentioned?
    3.  Is it true that upgrading the RAM yourself doesn't void AppleCare warranty?
IMO, Corsair and Crucial make terrific RAM.  I have used them in my Win PCs for years and have had no issues.
Thanks in advance for your replies!

    I am getting these sticks
    KINGSTON HYPERX 8GB (2X4GB) DDR3 1600 NON-ECC CL9 SODIMM (KHX1600C9S3K2/8G)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104253
for my MB Pro 2011 15".
Read good stuff about them. They run at 1600 MHz, which OSX should recognize, and i7 will support it too.
This Corsair ram would work too, though it's only 1333 MHz.
    http://www.amazon.com/Corsair-DDR3-Laptop-Memory-CMSO8GX3M2A1333C9/dp/B002YUF8ZG /ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top
If you buy the Kingston, be sure to NOT buy the XMP model - (model number ends with 8GX) buy the model that ends wth 8G. XMP is an Intel Memory Profile thing, that you'll need access to BIOS to utilize. (you can't on your mac )
Kingston should be the fastest though, with lowest CAS latency (in short, faster memory access times)
    Enjoy

  • Update feature and upgrades for 2011 macbook pro Help!!

if i use the update feature does that update my entire computer bios and all? is there any reason to manually download anything? i have a early 11 macbook pro with all the new software and latest running system. if anybody knows of any upgrades that can be done besides ram i would love to hear what it is, thanks

It can definitely be done safely, and will not void warranty. Apple has made it very easy to install new memory and a new battery (If needed). I went with Crucial 16GB Kit (2, 8GB sticks, DDR3). As I said it's a very efficient plug and play upgrade. If you have any more questions let me know, hope this helped!

  • OS for 2011 Macbook Pro!

Could someone explain in detail what the OS is, and exactly how it works. I have only had my Macbook Pro going on 4 days now. I have no experience on them at all. I see that it comes with the OS when you purchase the Macbook. I am just confused on the other advanced OS's such as Snow Leopard and the other one I keep seeing advertisements about. What is the difference between them, How do they work differently compared to each other. Is it worth upgrading or installing Snow Leopard or the other one. Could someone go into detail about this topic, it will be greatly appreciated.
    -Cheers !

If you have an new computer, you are already using the Operating System (OS) Snow Leopard (10.6). The next generation, to be released later this year is Lion (10.7). Details can be found at the links below.

  • 2011 Macbook Pro Overheating *VIDEO*

Well, I must say that I am really disappointed with the current 2011 Macbook pro lineup. This was my first Mac, I must say that I was really excited to finally own one. As I started using it, I noticed how hot the laptop was getting and how loud the fans were. While I was typing a simple E-mail, my palms were getting really hot and was a very uncomfortable feeling. I've been around friends who have own previous models and all have been very quiet and also fairly cool.
I started to get curious so I started reading the temps and it was a staggering 90c degrees! This was just while web browsing, having iTunes loaded and just doing normal day to day stuff. I immediately went online and did a Google search for "2011 Macbook Pro Overheating". I come to find out that it is a common problem. What was most disappointing to me was the fact that Apple is fully aware of this problem and has disabled Turbo Boost on the 13.3" Core i7 while running Bootcamp. So technically speaking, your better off buying the Core i5 model as it will run faster.
I decided to return the laptop, I feel it's deceiving to buy a product that really doesn't perform at it's full potential (It's like buying a Ferrari and only be able to go 60MPH). My batter life was also terrible, I was lucky if I got 3.5 hours under normal web browsing. I think this had a lot to do with the fact that the fan kept spinning at full speed every 2 minutes.
I hope this post doesn't come off as a flame, but rather constructive criticism on Apple's design to improve their products. I truly believe that Apple needs to redesign their Macbook Pro lineup to accept modern processors that run a lot hotter compared to when the Macbook Pro was first introduced. The fact that it has no ventilation in the bottom like every computer out there poses a huge problem with newer processors. I understand the aesthetics portion of the design, but I would much rather have a few small vent holes to keep the processor running cool and maintain a longer life for the hardware.
Lastly, before anyone say's that I got a "defective" one I want to say that this was my 2nd 2011 Macbook Pro as the first one was returned due to the same problems. Here is my video of my experience - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_azMBStJnY

I am having a similar problem. Bought MacBook Pro 17" 16 months ago and after about 9 months, routinely, daily, but no particular time I got a black screen suddenly.
(This is running Windows 7 all the time.)
So daily it has been doing this except for a 3 week visit to Europe ... weird.  Yet while in Europe no change in usage. Software or hardware. Except that in US I have it plugged often into a bigger monitor. And sometimes have lid closed but not for the past month while being back.
Return to US and within 2 weeks, suddenly black screen of death anytime during the day, keyboard in use or not.
Called Apple finally yesterday ... they need to know if it happens under Apple IOS.  No idea.  So for 1 1/2 days ran Apple and did nothing!  No black screen.
But what I have noticed is that when it does go black the bodyis HOT!!!  Especially between the screen hinge and F keys to the left.
Today I did two more things ... installed gotomypc to see if when it goes black if the laptop is functional, just dead video.  I will try to remote in when it goes "dead".
Also I put a load of coins on the laptop where it gets hot to absorb the heat and do they ever!
One thing ... the first time I ever saw this black screen symptom it RECOVERD after 3-4 seconds and gave off an error message like
“Display driver stopped responding and has recovered” error.
So based on researching this, it sounds like the video card needs replacing OR a driver update OR a bath in cold water?

  • Which model of memory upgrade should I get for my MacBook Pro early 2011 model? I now have 2 - 2GB modules.

Installing RAM in a 2011-2012 MacBook Pro
There is really only one way to install RAM into a 2011-2012 MacBook Pro and while there are hundreds of DIY videos online, I just like this one, found on YouTube, by “macmixing”.
Note that there is a difference in the RAM that should be used in 2011 and 2012 models.
    2011 models must use:
    •204-pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
    And 2012 models must use:
    •204-pin PC3-12800 (1600 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
    So here's the video:
Remember that the 13", 15" and 17" 2011 models (early or late) and the 13" and 15" mid-2012 non-Retina models can handle 4GB, 8GB or (unofficially, but, believe me, it works) 16GB of RAM. There are, in my opinion, only two 100% Mac-compatible vendors out there: Crucial and OWC. I really can't recommend any other brands, even though it may work, as these are the only brands that I've personally used in quite a while. Also remember to stay away from any RAM that is a “value” brand - Macs are picky about RAM and often these value RAM modules just don’t work very well.
    Good luck,
    Clinton
