Fake Apple USB power adaptor advertised as real on amazon?

http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Power-Adapter-iPod-iPhone/dp/B001GQ3DP6/ref=dpob_titlece
Ummm... how can apple(or is amazon to blame?) allow this?? i mean i wouldn't mind if they said usb power adaptor for ipod. Just don't falsely advertise as the real one made by apple.
What do you think? and to whom do I complain :P?

Sounds to me like they are selling adapters they are getting from 3rd party sources (or used) hence the fluctuating prices. Overall reviews are above average and the seller is highly rated. If you have an issue with them you need to take it up with Amazon but there is nothing there Apple would be concerned with.

Must I have an Apple USB power adaptor to charge an ipod or can I use the power adaptor from my htc cell phone?

Read the cell phone user manual to see if the charger can charge an iPod Nano.
FYI the usb power charger (AC) does not have to come from Apple.  I purchased mine from Macmall.com

  • Can i use my blackberry torch charger to charge my iPod4s? The charger looks very similar to the 5W USB power adaptor that Apple sells to charge the iPod?

can i use my blackberry torch charger to charge my iPod4s? The charger looks very similar to the 5W USB power adaptor that Apple sells to charge the iPod?

Actually, the bb charger is a 5V, 750 mA charger (which would make it a 3.75W charger vs the 5W that Apple sells for the iPod). Therefore, I would think that my bb charger should work for both bb and iPod, but would charge the iPod at a slower rate, with little harm done to the gadget, but I defer to any opinion that would suggest otherwise?

  • Two dead iPod USB power adaptors

Last year, I bought a USB power adaptor for my wife's iPod so she could charge it stand-alone. That died on us. Then in January, we bought another, and last week, the new one died on us.
The USB cables are fine, because the iPod touch will charge using the identical adaptor that came with my iPhone. It's just the little transformer brick that's died on us.
One dieing is an anomaly. Two is the beginning of a pattern. Any idea what's going on here? Anyone else experience this sort of problem? Both the iPhone and iPod touch are under Apple Care. Will they give us the time of day on these chargers? Suggestions?

Before contacting Apple, you may just need to reset it.
Put the hold switch to the OFF/White position. Now toggle it ON/orange then back off again. Then press and hold both the MENU and center buttons on the iPod and hold them for a good 15 seconds or so. Your iPod should reboot starting with the Apple Logo screen.
If it doesn't work the first time, give it a second or third go. Sometimes it takes a few/several tries.
See this thread as an example of what I mean by needing to try it many times...

  • Which cable for USB Power Adaptor

This Nano is my first ipod and I recently purchased a USB Power Adaptor, from ipods4less, to use in the event I didn't have access to a computer to charge it.
I thought the cable that came with the Nano would work but the USB end of the cable is a little too big to plug into the power adaptor.
Would someone be able to tell me exactly what cable I should buy that will plug into this power adaptor?
    Thanks.

I'm wondering - is there such a thing as a firewire adaptor? I'm wondering if instead of a USB power adaptor, which I ordered, ipods4less sent me an adaptor that needs a firewire connector. Since the hole in the adaptor is smaller than the USB plug but it's similar then maybe a firewire is needed.
I sent ipods4less an e-mail and I'm waiting for a response to see if that's the case.

  • Can Shuffle play while charging on Apple USB Power Adapter?

    Hi,
We would like to purchase a shuffle (2nd gen) to play continuously music on hold to our company's telephone system. The Phone system's audio-in jack is compatible. I've connected my 1st Gen iPod shuffle to the phone system, and it plays fine.
We will not be able to plug the shuffle into a computer, so we will need to plug it into the Apple USB Power Adapter.
Is anyone doing this? Does it work? Any problems?
    Thanks,
    David

Equivalent solution: Apple Universal Dock + Griffin DOck Adapter for 2nd Gen Shuffle + USB Power adapter
Just need to remeber to set the switch in either charge or play position...

  • Can I charge an iPod Classic 3G with the Apple USB power adapter?

I have just buy an iPod Classic 3G with 15  GB (SN JQ4239GQQQF) from ebay.
I have read that it's posible to sync it with my PC with Windows 7, but, It is not possible
    to charge it by usb.
I could charge it with the Apple USB power adapter?
    Thanks

With that particular model, only the Firewire cable and connection will provide power to the device.  The USB cable is only for syncing.
Using the iPod Dock Connector to FireWire and USB 2.0 Cable
Here is the cable you'll need.

  • Old Apple USB Power Adapter with new nano

Hi. I have an older Apple USB Power Adapter (model A1102) that I've been using with an Ipod Mini (bought it with the mini a long time ago). I have a new 3G nano on order. Will this power adapter work with the new nano? Or will I be forced to buy a new one?
Output from the adapter is 5V - 1.0A
    Thanks

Since I also converted from a Mini to a 3G Nano, I thought I'd give you a couple of pointers; I probably spent a couple of days preparing my existing mp3 library (and that says nothing about videos).
    1) Make sure all of your mp3's are NOT marked read-only and load everything you want into the NEW iTunes
    2) Work on collecting/saving the NEW things like album covert art and lyrics (I sometimes use the lyrics area to list musicians/personnel)
    3) Re-construct your playlists and SAVE everything (iTunes actually writes back to the mp3 files--that's why you don't want them read-only)
    4) Only then start messing with videos, because they tend to crash iTunes depending on your hardware, OS, etc. (for example, iTunes doesn't work well with Vista). My best advice for videos is use a 3rd party converter (like Nero Recode) to ensure iPod format compatibility; don't even waste your time with iTunes for anything that isn't a downloaded/purchased item.

  • Apple USB power Charger

    Hi all,
Is the Apple USB power Charger only compatible with USA wall plugs? Does it come with a thing to plug it into UK wall plugs? Would I need to buy anything seperately?

It is a universal power supply
it does not come with the UK adapter (which you can buy in most electronics stores)
there is a travel kit, but if you only need the UK adapter, that would be a bit of overkill (IMHO)

  • USB Power adaptor

I am thinking about buying an Apple USB power adapter (£19) for use with my iPod Classic in the UK. I already have a set of universal travel plug adapters to be able to use the different pin configurations of power points in other countries and was wondering if anybody knows whether the UK USB power adapter will work outside the UK (i.e. in America) with the use of my travel plug adapters?!
Is the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit just a set of different pin adapters, or a set of different power adapters? This is unclear from the information on the Apple Store site. I really don't want to spend another £29 on this kit if what I have will work already.

An Apple iPod AC charger is an universal .. so yours should be fine

  • Old Apple USB Power Adapter with New Shuffle

I just purchased a shuffle (2nd gen) and was wondering if I can use the Apple USB Power adapter that I use for my ipod (5th gen - the adapter is about two years old) to charge it, or can I only use my computer? The Apple store shows that it's compatible with the newer adapters, so I'm assuming I should be fine, but wanted to make sure.
Also, is there anyway to check on the computer, once the shuffle is docked, how full the charge is or isn't?
    Thanks!!

    It should work... try it!

The only indication is the status LED, it's either orange for charging or
    green for "charged"...

  • Can I save $ while integrating my IPhone? Can I use my BB USB Power Adaptor

I'm extremely happy with my IPhone (3G-16)... but for anyone who doesn't own a lot of Apple stock, or oil futures, times are tight.
I need a second USB power adapter. Can I simply plug my IPhone USB cable into one of the myriad of plugs which I have without killing my IPhone?
I've got one from my blackberry days which takes in 100-240V and outputs DC +5.0V---0.5A.
Apple doesn't list the specs for their power adaptor online, at least not where I can find them.
My other options are an ac plug to USB which came with my Garmin bike computer and a car charging unit for the Blackberry.
How concerned should I be about the different levels of power which may come out of plugs from different chinese factories, and is there a place where I can learn what the IPhone needs?

Using any other type of charger would void your warranty if it damaged the iPhone.
You can just charge the iPhone while it's plugged into the USB on the computer. No need to have an extra adapter.

  • Can I use other Apple USB Power Adapters with iPad

I am looking for a spare  Apple Power Adapter to charge my iPad.  I have an iPad (3rd Generation), which came with a 10W USB Power Adapter, Model A1357, output 5.1V. 2.4A USB Power Adapter.  I have two other Apple Power Adapters 1) iPod Power Adapter, Model A1070, output 13V, .62A Firewire Power Adapter, 2) USB Power Adapter, Model A 1265, Output 5V, 1A,and  3) USB Car Adapter,   Can either of the latter three Power Adapters be used to charge my iPad

Technically, yes, but they will trigger the 'not charging' because they're not giving out the 10W that your device wants. And charging with them will take significantly longer than the ipad charger.
I'd only use them as a 'shucks, left my iPad charger at home and I'm in a pinch' situation.
Your best bet would be to either get another iPad charger, or if you're trying to use one adapter for several devices, use the iPad one for the rest of your stuff.
