Fake Nokia MicroSDHC 4gb card?

Can anyone tell me if this card is a fake or not?
It came with the phone, and just now I found it has bad sectors. It is the full 4gb as I've filled it, so not one of those flashed 1gb ones. But is it real Nokia or blackmarket stuff?
Thanks

There's nothing in the photo to suggest one way or the other.
I would suggest replacing it, though, but not because it may be a fake. It's a class 2 card, which may be a bit slow for your phone. A class 4 card will give much better performance. A class 6 card may be the same price or even cheaper than a class 4 card now but it probably won't work faster in your phone.

  • 8GB memory cards for N95 - Nokia says 4GB max

OK... I have a N95 (bought late Nov 07). Bought an 8GB memory card... all seems to work great.
Thing is Nokia list 4GB as the max memory card on their web site here - http://www.forum.nokia.com/devices/N95
I assume 8GB is OK and reliable to use ??
Just checking - as I said, not seen any problems at all just curious as to the mismatch.
    cheers

I haven't seen a slowdown with lots of videos and music on a 2GB card in my N73, but I have seen a huge slowdown with a lot of MobiReader eBooks installed (around 100)- it takes four or five minutes sometimes to go from a book back to the library. It doesn't happen with only a few books installed (10 or so).
I haven't had much chance to check with my N95 that I was given for Xmas - it only came with a 1GB card and I only have a few songs plus DivX music videos and movies plus 20 books aboard so far, but so far I haven't seen any slowdown even with MobiReader.
I'm looking for an 8GB card for my N95 once one becomes available here and I can confirm it works reliably in my N95. Then the wife gets the N73 with the 2GB and my laptop gets the 1GB card. Guess I throw away the 256MB card currently in the laptop!

  • Pictures of 4GB Card Working on N80

Just spotted an ad on ebay which has pictures of an N80 running v3.0617.06 firmware with a working 4GB card - shows it with more that 2GB of data, too.
Has anyone actually got a 4GB card working in an N80?
The ad states that the v3.0617.06 firmware is the US version - is the US version very different from the UK one?
I don't know if links to ebay are allowed - apologies to admin if they're not:

If they're not, just search ebay for "4GB miniSD N80" and you'll see a bunch of ads from this supplier all of which have the pictures.Message Edited by patc on 16-May-200712:02 PM

    To: shayesta
    Many thanks Sir!
However that means I would need to change FW, convert to ME and so forth.
But finally a proper answer to this story on 4GB on N73.
From what I have read so far, it really looks certain FWs Nseries can deal with 4GB card, but only if they are non SHDC type, which is only from a few providers as the SHDC type is the new fronteer. That means the risk of buying the wrong minisd is a way too high for the benefit. I will go for another 2gb to keep in my wallet and that's it. But thanks so much for the hint, might be I change my mind in the future.
I believe that the solution proposed by another member of using a microsd with minisd adapter is actually circumventing the SDHC problem as well, so working for same reason. There is also an ebayer at this moment who is selling 4gb tested on n80 TIM edition (Italy) with a given fw and looks within same scope.
    Thanks again.
A plause to this wonderful nseries devices. I am so fascinated of using my n73 for mp3 same as for finding my way with tomtom or watching movies with divx mobile player.
    Ops and for calling!
Ciao to all.Message Edited by milana on 05-Jun-200707:50 PM

  • E65 support for 4Gb card?

I now know the current limit is 2Gb, but too late I brought the 4Gb card. I seem to remember reading somewhere that there may be support for 4Gb in the next firmware update, which I am hoping is end of this month. Anyone know anything about this?

Given that the Nokia N95 uses micro SD-HC cards and further, that the E65 is sold as a business phone perhaps Nokia can be persuaded to release a firmware update which incorporates the use of micro SD-HC cards for it's business users - who often have a real need to store large ammounts of data etc.
and users of music edition phones also need a lot of storage. i would sell my 20gb archos xs202 if a n73 could use at least 8 or 16gb but i dont see that they update s60v3fp0
but maybe there will be a wonder like it was with ad2p
maybe they need some pressure - SDHC FOR EVERYBODY, NOW!!! Message Edited by okidal on 23-Aug-200709:01 PM

  • PETITION FOR 4GB CARD SUPPORT!

    Hello...
Nokia Users please join this petition for 4GB Card Support for Recent Nokia Phones & Upcoming New Nokia Phones!
Im sure there are owners out there who want the support of 4GB Card. Why is Nokia so Pathetic at listening to our concerns?
Its all simple! the recent models just need firmware teaking (update) so it support 3rd Party Memory Cards! We should benefit this feature from out phones. Theres no such thing as EXTRA hardware required to support 4GB Card ie 4GB Mini-SD, becuase it is the same dimensions n connections & all it needs is Firmware Update!.
However N-Gage, 6280 supports 4GB Card & there were sum screenshots of N80 working with 4GB Card using the old firmware v3.xx.x.xx
Nokia are so pathetic they lock the firmware by not allowing 100% compatible support for 3rd Party cards only Nokia branded Cards!
    ALL WE WANT!...
However we (all nokia onwers) should have our phones supporting 4GB Cards. So uwners who agree please post your comment as i will forward this to Nokia Team. Its about time they took action to this!

    hello,
i have an n80 ie, and at the moment i´ve a 2gb mini-sd, formated with >>>>FAT32 working in it.
At this site /discussions/board/message?board.id=smartphones&message.id=38078 , "shayesta", says, if you format your 4gb-mini-sd in your mobile, it will work. THIS IS NOT TRUE (maybe it depends on fw, but excluding the old 3.xxx , i dont believe at this moment in this.
    I´ve buyed a 4gb mini-sd (NON-HC!!) ,when i try to format it in my n80ie, it says: "memory-card faulty".
When i use the 4gb-card in my pc or in my qtek9100 (mda vario) it works very well!
It may be paranoid, but i think nokia build a limitation in fw, so that u can´t use more than 2gb mem, because they want that we buy early a new mobile, that sopport 4gb officially. And probably with sup. for "sd-hc" , what on the other hand costs extra money for the "hc"(NON-HC WORX WITH FAT32 TOO, so thats not the difference!)
FACT IS, the n80 CAN work with 4gb, but nokia barricades this function. (I bet every n-series mobile could work since a year with 4gb-card if nokia wouldn´t be so obsinate).
I have not much hope for this great "4gb" fw-upgrade, but i wish the best.
so long, greetz (sry for my bad english, i´m a man from ger, german)

  • The 4GB card is here!!!!

weve all been hearing about the 4GB cards coming soon....they are here and ready to ship....
alot of you may ask so how does that help as as many/most phones do not support 4gb cards...
we the rumour mill has stated that although no nokia phones currently support the 4gb cards that support for such is just a firmware update away from supporting these cards....thus when the 4gb cards hit the market a fw update should bring most phones up to date....good news aint it?

So what do y mean bro?
I mean these 4 GBs are on HCSD format and is not clear whether the old phones like n91 or n80 won't support it after even FW upgrade?
Yes! Is technical possible to do a firmware upgrade of existing phones, like N73 or N80 to support SDHC cards. But like I said on previous post, the change of phones is so quick, that is most probable that these ones rest to support only 2Gb SD cards, and only new phones, go to support SDHC cards. The problem is that new announces, like E90, N77 don´t have also support for SDHC cards, which means only, maybe, on 2008 we go have phones with that support.

  • How to make adiference betwen a fake nokia and th ...

    is any way ?

One more importantly is the battery. Fake Nokia used a china brand battery not the original Nokia battery, the original Nokia battery should have a sticker hologramand you can see the Nokia in the oval in a little angle from the left hand side and around the Nokia Symbol circle has a line of small text writting. Duno what it said but u can tell it's a line of text. and most importantly is the sticker is 3D view, at the bottom you'll see the Hands symbol deep behind the Nokia foreground symbol. Also there should be 2 lines of numbers on the right handside beneath the scratchable black thing.
This is one of the most important to tell if the Nokia Phone is Genuine, because the fake one used a fake battery. Because the orginal battery is 5 to 10x more expensive. Or even more expensive.

  • Nokia, the memory card needs moving

why put the memory card under the battery? if i want to take it out to stick some data on using the readers that come as standard on many pc's now, i can't. i will have to reprogram the time and date and deal with the phones covers. The cards of very limited use, and might aswell not be removeable.

The 6230i is an old phone and was one of the first series 40 phones to feature a memory card.
Most newer nokia's memory cards can be changed without removing the battery. Some lower end phones (7373) still have the slot under the battery.

  • How to determine Fake Nokia Charger

Hi, I have some concern with my charger also how to determine if your Nokia Charger is fake? please help

    Dear kennkian
I have two types of NOKIA chargers,.............
One of them I found genuine charger of NOKIA by charging my cell phone turn by turn...... The charger which charged my cell within the reasonable time that one I consider the Genuine Charger of NOKIA and the other charger which having also NOKIA logo printed on it take double of time to charge my cell.
This is the way that I consider to find the genuine or fake NOKIA charger.

  • Fake nokia

Don't be cheated. A nokia made in finland is different from one made in china. I personally bought a nokia n95 made in china and it couldn't work like one. It was actually rubbish. As a matter of fact those of us who have used nokia for sometime know a nokia once we use one. Any nokia has a label somewhere under the battery on which is written the model, where it was made and other details. If this name plate does not show where it was made then know it is fake. In addition to this a fake nokia will always be very cheap but useless. Someone also said something about the seventh digit in the imei number. I am sure it was on this forum or on n95users but I can not give any details about this because I have on idea.

I already checked the "Lock" setting -- it is definitely unlocked.
Since the card behaves in the exact same erratic way whether I am putting it directly into the Pro, or using the card reader to put it into the Air, or even using the card reader to put it into the Pro (as an experiment), then the problem must be not with the ports (since it affect all ports equally), but either with the System/firmware, or with the card itself.
(Also, I have two different SDHC card readers, from two different manufacturers, and the same behavior appears with both of them.)
Since it does work half the time with no problems, the issue must be something offbeat, not an inability to read the card entirely.

  • Sync Nikon D200 w/ 4GB card runs iPod 40GB out of battery during sync..

I am using a 4GB 133x Lexar Professional compact flash card in my Nikon D200 and I am syncing directly to my 40 GB iPod. On a recent session, I filled up the d200 4GB card with about 750 images and then I attempted to sync directly to my iPod using the iPod usb / camera adaptor. Well, with so many images, the transfer consumes so much battery power that it runs the iPod completely out of batteries before it completes the sync process. When this happens, I recharge my iPod and it won't allow the sync to restart where it left off and wants to start the process from the beginning again. You can not browse that imported 'roll' either from the iPod - but it does take up disk space on the iPod. I have about 10 GB of these temporary photos on my iPod that I want to retrieve.
My question is - how / where do I access my photos that are 'in the queue' on my iPod as a result of these transfers that failed mid stream?
Side note #1: File transfers from the d200 to the iPod containing about 350 images (about 2GB total) are able to be transferred successfully without completely discharging the batteries.

Good news - I solved my issue - the images are not corrupt, they are just placed in a folder on the root of the iPod. I completely understand your point of view on this but IMHO, using the iPod in this fashion is an awesome tool. I also think that is where Apple is going with it with it's file access features of the new version of iTunes. Granted, it's not for everyone and there may be 'better' means to do this, but here's my situation. I found it VERY useful as I was traveling out of the country where I had to cover 16 cities across three countries in just over 3 weeks. With all that travel (trains, planes, walking / hiking, cars, buses, etc), I had to be very aware of everything that I was carrying with me. 'Dumping' my D200 images to my iPod was great because 1) it lightened my load not bring the laptop 2) my iPod has an amazing rubber / safety wrap to minimize shock damage that I could synch with while traveling in any car / cab, etc… 3) I used the IPOD video out connection to display to photos onto televisions, projectors and computer monitors 4) it allowed me to listen to my language training audio sessions on the iPod. What a great combination - with the exception of draining all the juice from the iPod batteries!
So anyhow, my problem is 'solved'. All my photos safely made it to my iPod (over 15GB!!!) and onto my production computer. From my layman's perspective, what happens when you transfer photos to the iPod from the d200 is that the iPod creates thumbnails (in some strange file extension that I can't recall the name of) of the images so you can browse and see your work on the iPod. Well if the connection is terminated unexpectedly, the database of thumbnails for that specific transfer session is not properly closed or created and therefore the thumbnails can't be displayed - making you think that the images are corrupted when you try to view them from the iPod. The transferred images are actually there - they just can't be see via the iPod display. If your source images aren't there or get corrupt, there are conversion software tools that allow you to convert the ipod thumbnail format (remember this is at a lower resolution that the original images) into tiff/jpg/gif formats if you wanted to do that but the thing to remember is that most likely the source images are actually on the iPod.
I connected to my iPod via the USB cable, as saw that the D200 created a folder called "DCIM" and created subfolders for each transfer I tried. The folders were named "100APPLE", "101APPLE", etc… This is different from the 'Photo' directory contains the iPod thumb nail formats that are synched via iTunes.
Granted, the trick to doing this is determine where the images stopped in its transfer. But in retrospect, I was amazed that I was about to copy on average about 1.5 GB of photos over before the batteries died. Next time I try this, I will simply synch after every session or maybe create different folders on the d200 instead of waiting to fill up my 4GB (or upcoming 8GB) cards before synching.
