False Patent Claims - HELP

Hello Palm Blog,
My comment is more of a historical support question.
Our company has apps that run on the legacy Palm OS that are like forms / checklists.
We have encountered a firm that claims they have the "patent on mobile forms / checklist for PDAs / Smartphones" (see details below).
being able to refute their patent claim would be to show proof that PDA / smartphone 'mobile forms/checklists' existed (in the USA) prior to 2002. I know this is the case but do not have the documented proof of such apps on a PDA / Smartphone that were in PUBLIC use (any such in use) prior to August 2002.
They patent was issued August 19, 2003 therefore the earliest application of their patent would have been August 2002.
HELP!!
Any documentation, articles, or proof that mobile checklists / inspections / questionnaires / etc. being used on a PDA / smartphone prior to August 2002 will allow us to refute / debunk their patent claims.

Dear Moderator,
I am seeking input from peers that have used PDAs to collect information in 'forms' prior to 2002.
I am not wanting legal advise, support in litigation, etc.
The firm in question is extroting money from ANY company that is large enough and they believe have teh money to pay them to go away.
All I am seekinig is to know if anyone was using PDA forms / data collect prior to 2002.

Help! Shafted by Sony's incompetence and false waterproof claims!

My phone was left on the table while it was raining last week (flaps fully closed of course) and when I picked it up to check something after a while I saw it was turning itself off. After that it never came back alive no matter what I tried. I noticed the camera lenses had fully frosted up so it was apparent that water had seeped in somehow.
I dried the phone for over a day but it simply didn't work! I sent it to Sony for warranty repair as I expected it to be covered since I used it under their advertised conditons and you expect it to take a bit of rain at the minimum.
To my utter horror they have come back as saying that because the phone has some other physical damage on the other side (it has a very slight bend in the left side middle which i don't recall it having) it means that the warranty is automatically void and they don't even need to investigate the water damage or the reason why the waterproofing failed via faulty flaps! But the failed flap is the one on the opposite/right side where the SIM and memory card go! It doesn't even make sense!
I have attached the repair centre (SBE Ltd.) sent pictures as evidence.
I assure you that the 2 are completely unrelated and on the opposite sides of the phone. They are simply using cause and effect and not scientific tests to rub their hands off my claim. I asked for a logical explanation but none were given. There are plenty threads online showing that Sony Z3 phones have been failing at waterproofing. Given Sony's dropping sales they should at least help out their customers and stick by their principles and marketing claims.
To top up the experience the rude customer service even charge me £20 to ship phone back! Extortion?
I was a stauch Sony fan who owned the Xperia S, Z, Z2 and Z3 but my Sony story is well and truly over! I will go to a small consumer court as I will not give up because I am right!

The bend is way down and does not affect the flap area in any way especially since it is on the OPPOSITE side. Sony basically finds any little defect in the body and says that warranty void! They haven't even clarified or confirmed that the flap was affected in any way. They didn't even test that bit before saying we won't repair it. The phone bended. Isn't that also a manufacturing defect/poor quality? How can phones just bend??! Scandalous if you ask me. Their phone fails on 2 counts but who is to blame? The consumer of course!

N95 Insurance Claim help.

Hello there,
A few months back i had broken my N95 unfortuantly Vodafone cancelled my insurance and said someone had cancelled it online. (Yeh sure) So i had to claim from house insurance which then they sent be a brand new one not requesting the old one back. They took note of the IMEI Number from me. I still have this broken phone now am i able to sell this phone or is it useless??
I also just broke my new N95 yet again same thing happend but this time i have vodafone insurance back again.(Smashed screen)
So any help would be much apreciated.

Its a bit of a shame to claim off vodafone i have to say goodbye to my unlocked simfree N95 and get given a vodafone one =[ which means less updates unless i mess about with it.

hmm trace comes back will null
the way it goes is, i have a trial.swf
which is the preloader which loads start page in ok
on press of a button on start page i was hoping it would tell that preloader to go and relaunch but this time load ("faq"), i can use this code on a normal loader and everything will work fine the child is removed and another one loaded in, however the code itself needs to be in preloader form as the load takes a while to complete.
i do have some other code inside of the start page mc maybe this is affecting everything going correctly

Firefox suddenly stopped opening webpages, while other browser work properly. I checked Proxy settings and everything that is mentioned in the central help page, but still no solution found...

In addition, i tried to re-install Firefox many times, without a result. In the time these lines are written, I am using Google Chrome to surf the web.

These Error messages appear in the Error Console of the just now downloaded Firefox 4.0. In the previous version, 3.6.12, before removing it, I noticed two more error messages in the error console, like the two last as listed above: With the nema ERROR.
I am forced now to use Chrome, and I dislike that!
Some could suspect that Google has sabbotaged firefox to get its popularity by forcing users to change browsing programms by giving them a hidden worm..?? :P

Is there a way to open context-sensitive help in a new window with RH10?

I'm linking my context sensitive help using the RoboHelp_CSH.js file to my web application.
The correct topic opens when I click the help link, but it opens in a pop-up window. This causes problems in Firefox and Chrome (which block pop-ups by default).
Is there anyway to force the context-sensitive help topics to open in a new window?
I've tried adding
<p><A HREF="javascript:RH_ShowHelp(0,'http:/myurl/index.htm', HH_HELP_CONTEXT, 100)" target="_blank">Help</A>
which opens an empty tab in Firefox with no content in it. And it doesn't work in Chrome either.
Has anyone else run into this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Urgent Help need - How to capture client change event

Dear Gurus,
I am not able to track whether user has changed any field in the table or not. I am using IWDNodeElement.isChangedByClient to capture , but it is always returning me false.

I would not recommend to use the changed()/isChanged() methods. They represents "dirty flags" used by our framework in certain situations ("delta handling"). I don't think that applications need access to it, except in certain situations. Anyway, these flags are set whenever an attribute is changed and reset at the end of the roundtrip.
isChangedByClient() represents a different set of "dirty flags" whose reset is under the application's control. They are set whenever a user changes an attribute (through the Web Dynpro client), but not when server-side code does such a change.
In NW04, these flags are quite coars-grained. A node element is marked as changed when any of its attributes has been changed.

New to Java and need some help in solving the following problem.
implement two synchronization routines.
The first is a spinning barrier using the two-gate method.
The second is a queuing event using Java built-in monitors.
Basically need two java files one with SpinBarrier.java and other with
QueueEvent.java.
Algorithem for first Q. is as follows:
The two-gate method for barriers maintains two gates. The first
gate is down when the barrier is being drained. When the barrier
is not being drained the gate is up. The second gate is down
when the barrier is filling with participants. Raising the
second gate allows everyone who is waiting to leave the barrier.
The algorithm is as follows:
1) Each thread entering the barrier waits until the first gate
is opened. In order to accomodate both preemptive and
non-preemptive threading, be sure to call Thread.yield().
2) Each thread updates a counter that tracks how many threads
have entered the barrier. The last thread to enter closes
the first gate and opens the second.
3) Each thread waits until the second gate is opened. Again,
to accomodate both preemptive and non-preemptive threading
be sure to call Thread.yield() while waiting at the gate.
When the second gate is opened the last thread to leave
closes the second gate and opens the first.
Need to include all appropriate synchronization to
avoid possible race conditions!

"False" in quiz is always graded as "True"

I'm new to Captivate.....using version 6. I've created 3 short quizzes with a variety of questions. The problem is, there are several true/false questions, and each time the students answer True to a question that is actually False, it grades them as correct.
I've verified this in the Adobe Quiz Analyzer (students post their scores through their Adobe accounts).
But...when I edit the quiz, I have those questions marked "False" ......and.....when I take the quiz myself (both in Preview mode and published pdf) it grades me correctly. I also tried taking the quizzes from another computer, and everything still works properly for me.
There are no problems with the other types of questions....only the True/False.
Please help! Thank you in advance.

Also have you tested a Sample project with 2 or 4 True/False questions, do you have same issue with your students ?

Adding items in JComboBox - Help

Hy, I have a JComboBox() and a JTextField().
when I input a name in the JTextField and clicks on the "Ok" button
the name is added in the JComboBox().
What I want is when I click on the "Ok" button, a check is made to see
whether the name input in the JTextField already exist in the JComboBox().
If is exist a message is displayed else it is added.
How to perform the check.
PLease send me code for doing this.

Hi.
The JComboBox uses a model to get its hands on the elements to be displayed. Thus you must search the model to see if the string is already contained.
Use something like this:
    public boolean contains(JComboBox comboBox, String s) {
        int elementCount = comboBox.getModel().getSize();
        for (int i = 0; i < elementCount; i ++) {
            String t = (String)comboBox.getModel().getElementAt(i);
            if (t.equals(s))
                return true;
        return false;

File.exists() returns false even when the file exists

hi,
the exists() function of java.io.File function returns false even when the file exists on the file system. why is this? i checked the path of the file which gives me the correct path, but exists returns false. can anyone help?
