False Security Question - Favourite Name - anyone ...

I am cross referencing this thread from here http://community.bt.com/t5/Bills-Call-Packages/BT-Yahoo-security-problem/m-p/344613#M8571  because it’s tucked away where no one will see it.
Basically BT Yahoo is asking a security question to which I have never given an answer – so it’s impossible to answer it correctly!
The question is “What is your favourite name:” but I have never provided a favourite name. it's a daft question anyway because the answer is not absolute. I would supply the name of my first school, my mother's maiden name or my place of birth but not a favourite name.
I asked BT helpdesk in India about this and they told me the value currently for the field. Turns out it’s a combination of my password and some random characters. He said it was a “run-time” error which doesn’t fill me with confidence.
Anyone else had the same problem?

Hi.
Have a look at my shortcuts (link below), option 24a.
It will ask for your primary, your password and the security question. After supplying those, you can alter the details to suit.

    You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.

  • HT5312 I cannot use my apple id because every time I get into my account with the correct password, it prompts me for security questions which I've forgotten my answers.  It does not let me  reset my security questions even using a rescue email.  Help!!!

    I feel like I'm in an infinite loop.  I have all of the information correct except my security questions -- I set them up quickly and forgot what I answered.  Per the FAQs on Apple's website, I should be able to get a rescue email that allows me to reset the answers to the questions, however all I get is a rescue email to reset my password.  This is my first time trying to use this account and I can't get around the security questions.  Can anyone help me?  I just want to download some music to my mini iPad.

    Click here, phone them, and ask for the Account Security team, or fill out and submit this form.

  • HT1937 Is there a way to change my Apple ID security questions ? I forgot the answers for them

    I am having trouble figuring out how to change my security questions.
    Does anyone know how to change them ?

    You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.
    They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • Deleted rescue email address and forgotten security questions

         Hi, I just recently changed my email address for my iTunes account. I tired to go onto my iPhone and I tried to buy a song, it wouldn't let me until I answered my security questions, which I forgot. I tired to send the security questions to my rescue email, but I deleted my rescue email about a year ago. I have no idea how to change my rescue email without having to type in my security questions. Does anyone know how I could change my rescue email without entering my security questions or will I need to call the apple support people? -.-

    You need to call or otherwise contact them.

    Yes.  You can.  See the "more like this" section on the right side of the page or do a simple forum search.  Your question has been asked and answered dozens of times.

  • ITunes account security questions...

    Hello can anyone help me reset my security questions without calling anyone?  This is the 2nd time I've forgot them all and it's starting to **** me off I wish to disable the stupid questions for good.

    If you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) on your account then the steps half-way down this page will give you a reset link on your account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
    If you don't have a rescue email address (you won't be able to add one until you can answer your questions) then you will need to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset - which is likely to be by phone as they need to confirm your id and that it's your account.
    Contacting Apple about account security : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
    When they've been reset (and if you don't already have a rescue email address) you can then use the steps half-way down the HT5312 link above to add a rescue email address for potential future use, or if it's available in your country you could change to 2-step verification : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5570

  • I'm trying to recover my security questions, but my alternate email address on the link does not match the one I have put in my Apple ID, on the link it is has an old one that no longer exists. Has anyone else been through this or knows how to help m

    I've been trying to remember my security questions for ages, and I can't seem to remember them. On my Apple ID I have changed my alternate email address because the previous one was deleted, but when I go on the "Password and Security" page on my Apple ID and there is a link saying "Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to ************@*******.com" but it is giving me my old email that does not match my current one on my Apple ID and no longer exists. I have been trying for very long to recover my security questions' answers, but Apple is not coping with me.
    Has anyone been through this or knows how to help me?
    Thank you.

  • HT5312 Help!!! I am at my wits end. Can anyone tell me how to have my security questions re-set? Truth is I do not even remember the questions and so dont know the answers  I keep getting refered to 'answer security questions' when I reset my password hel

    Hi can anyone help me with the solution to get my security questions and answers re-set?
    I have done everything the site asks you to do/ reset passwords/ confirm re-send mail and so on BUT the site still does a 360 back to answer security
    questions to confirm your identity....that is the point -I do not rememeber the questions  and certainly therefore dont remember answers to questions that I am supposed to recall....so what do I do?
    For the last 8 months ++ I've gone full circle and am at my wits end?
    Anyone have some deep wisdom on this issue
    Thanks and regards

    Or you can email iTunes Support at iTunes Store Support.
    If all else fails:
      1. Go to: Apple Express Lane;
      2. Under Product Categories choose iTunes;
      3. Then choose iTunes Store;
      4. Then choose Account Management;
      5. Now choose iTunes Store Security and answer the bullet questions, then click
          Continue;
      6. Sign in with your Apple ID and press Continue;
      7. Under Contact Options fill out the information and advise iTunes that you would
          like your security/challenge questions reset;
      8. Click Send/Continue.
    You should get a response within 24 hours by email.
    In the event you are unsuccessful then contact AppleCare - Contacting Apple for support and service.
    Another user had success doing the following:
    I got some help from an apple assistant on the phone. It is kind of round about way to get in.
    Here is what he said to do and it is working for me...
      a. on the device that is asking you for the security questions go to "settings", > "store" >
          tap the Apple ID and choose view"Apple ID" and sign in.
      b. Tap on payment information and add a credit/debit card of your preference then select
          "done", in the upper right corner
      c. sign out and back into iTunes on the device by going to "settings"> "store" > tap the
          Apple ID and choose "sign-out" > Tap "sign -in" > "use existing Apple ID" and you
          should be asked to verify your security code for the credit /debit card and NOT the
          security questions.
      d. At this time you can remove the card by going back in to edit the payment info and
          selecting "none" as the card type then saving the changes by selecting "done". You
          should now be able to use your iTunes store credit without answering the security
          questions.
    It's working for me ...I just have to put in my 3 digit security pin from the credit card I am using.
    Good Luck friends!
