Family Base DATA

I signed up and then quickly canceled Family Base when I found that I could not set my child's data limit to zero. The default lower limit seems to be 1.0 GB. Is there someway I can set this to zero?

    Pack-Axe,
I can see how that can be useful and would be happy to pass along the suggestion. Is the phone on that line a basic phone? Lines with basic phones on them can have a data block placed on the line which would limit that line to zero.

    2Cool4School,
    The fundamental business practice for a telecommunication vender is to recognize and acknowledge system related errors. In this case, Verizon is liabile for systems errors that disadvantages it customers. After speaking with several Verizon employees, including supervisors, the systematic flaw inherent with their web based services and its possible error ratio has not been acknowledged. Furthermore, nothing is absolute and it is possible that this error was not cause due to any fault of my own. Thus, Verizon should understand their accountability in the matter. I guarantee that Ivan Seidenberg is interested in learning about this matter which could turn into a potential turn class-action lawsuit.

  • Can I restrict ALL data usage on a smartphone with family base

    Can I restrict all data usage through Family Base or will it still be accessible through hotspots?

    Keeganbeaty,
    Look no further help is here! Being able to manage your data usage is definitely important.
    Are you trying to limit the data usage on a certain line? if so, with Family base https://my.verizonwireless.com/vzw/nos/safeguards/SafeguardProductDetails.action?productName=familybase&intcmp=SearchBanner:family base product:Top you can set a data limit and place a hard stop once that limit has be reached. You can also turn cellular data on the phone. What phone do you have so I can provide the steps? May I ask the reason you're looking to turn off data on the line? This is for the line you use or for someone else on the account?

  • How can I get the family base companion app for my daughters iPhone 4s?

    I recently added my daughter to my plan and I purchased family base.  I was wondering if there was any way to get the family base companion app on her iPhone 4s.

        Hi Davona78!
    The FamilyBase service is a great service that allows parents to monitor and control their kid's phone usage, including calls, text, picture and video messages, data, contacts and app usage.  Although the FamilyBase companion application is not currently compatible with Apple devices, you can still subscribe to the service and manage the lines using the iPhone Mobile Web.  See more information here: http://vz.to/1thEl5r (see Question# 7).  Thanks!

  • Question about family base and 911 notification of both parents

    recently,we,had,someone,call,911,on,one,of,our,phones.,,I,am,a,parent,and,was,not,notified,,but,my,wife,who,i,think,is,shown,as,account,owner,on,our,bill,was,notified,on,her,phone.,,We,want,to,be,sure,we,are,both,notified,immediately,on,our,phones.,,How,to,I,change,family,base,to,make,both,parents,get,the,notifications,for,a,911,call,by,someone,in,the,family,base?,I,look,everywhere,I,could,find,but,have,not,figured,it,out.,thanks

    There used to be more flexibility for notifications.  I called Verizon and they confirmed we lost some functionality.  I used to have notifications sent to my wife, but now they only go to the primary account holder.  This was changed in the past week.  I used to get the phone number in data usage alerts (phone number ##### reached it's limit), but now it doesn't tell me who reached the limit.  You have to login to the website to find out.  Even more frustrating was the notification that said one of my lines dialed 911.  It didn't tell me who, and I just pictured one of my family members in a terrible accident and the notification wouldn't tell me who it was.  When I called Verizon and said I needed to know, they wanted to teach me how to find it on the website instead if helping me in my emergency.  The bottom line is everyone needs to call Verizon to get this functionality back.  I agree you have at least the option of notifying any/all account owners.

  • Family Base in Alaska

    I have 3 lines that I use Verizon Family Base for.  2 lines are here in Alaska. I've only added data restriction. The 2 lines here in Alaska are able to recieve/send text and recieve calls except make outgoing calls which they get an error message that says "Please re enter the 10 digit number you are dialing, do not press send"  Once I take off the data restriction, the lines work. So I need to know what is going on. I need the data restriction turned on or my data overages will be out of control. Please help!

        islandgirlinAK,
    Thanks for the info! While the users are located in an extended coverage area, the functionality of Family Base will vary. If removing the data restrictions helps with the outbound calls, I would recommend removing the feature. Do you run into this same issue with the device not located in Alaska?

  • Family Base - Alert messages

    Please explain to me what the "red alert symbol" means within the Family Base Alert Messages.
    Also, is there a way to see the text message details posted to my child's phone through my Family Base account?  Or is that only possible by physically taking my child's phone?
    Thank you for your help!

    Keewaydin, we want managing your family's usage with the Family Base feature to be easy breezy! The red alert symbol advises you that that the line has exceeded or is approaching the allowance limit. • Family Base Issues.. FRUSTRATED

    I added Family Base to my cell plan last week in an attempt to control my daughter's out of control data usage.  I set everything up (with my husband and I as parents, her as a child and blocking her data after 5 GB).
    Both she and I are getting text messages that we have exceeded our data limits and/or we have used 75% of our data for the month, although we have only used (as a family) 2.344 GB of 13 GB.
    I have already called Customer Service and was told to clear our cache, which was done and I am still having issues.
    I am beginning to believe that the program is just terrible.  I am also a bit angry that Verizon would put out a program that is so faulty.  I am a 19 year customer with Verizon and right now with all  of the extra charges and no data rollover and all of the great things I am seeing about other carriers I may finally jump the fence, so to speak.

        First and foremost as a 19 year customer of ours, we certainly appreicate your many years of loyalty with us jwpillar. I understand the importance of ensuring the Family Base feature is working acurately at all times. Allow us to get to the bottom of this for you. I myself use this feature for my daughter and receive text messages when she is getting close to her data allotment. When you receive these text messages are they referring to her allotment? With Family Base, you will get text messages when the line who has the data restriction reaches 50%, 75%,90% and 100% of the allotment. Also, when you set the data restriction, did you power her phone off and on to ensure the data allotment is set correctly?
    Thank You,

  • Family Base Not Restricting After Hours

    We have Family Base installed on our phone and on our son's phone. We have night time hours set up - but Family Base is not restricting his text messages or anything. Could this be because he has Wi-fi and mobile data turned off? How is he getting around it? Any ideas? I have had to physically take his phone away at night to stop the texting.

    I also called Verizon and had a support ticket put in. They have informed me that the issue has been fixed. One thing they told me though was that family base will not honor restrictions if the phone has wireless enabled. So you have to turn off the wireless at night in order for it to restrict.
    Another issue I have just discovered is the use of 3rd party texting applications - such as GO SMS Pro. Family base can not detect received messages - it can only log sent messages. This is also very frustrating.
    I am considering getting rid of Family Base all together.

  • Family base and extended network

    Every time I enter an extended network, I am unable to make a call. I receive calls and can text. When I try to make a call I get message 'Please reenter 10 digit number...cant not press *67 or *82.  I called tech support and was told that the Family Base is restricting the calls and I would have to unsubscribe to it in order to make calls.  I did this and sure enough, could make calls.  I think there has to be a better way to fix this than to have to continually subscribe and unsubscribe to Family Base every time I go into an extended network. Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a different solution rather than what I listed?

    I also have the same problem and just found out it was Family Base causing it.  I think it's ridiculous that Verizon hasn't fixed this issue.  So I either can't make calls or can't manage my data usage?  Unacceptable.   Can someone from Verizon please respond?  Is there a fix planned for this?  Possibly when Lollipop rolls out?

  • Is family base for people who don't have kids?  can I unscribe from family base if I find i don't need it at a later time?

    Is family base just for people who have kids?  Can I un subscribe to it if I don't need it later on?  I only want it to block un wanted calls.
    Thank you
    Bettie

    Horlacher, we want you to subscribe to only the wireless tools that you need. Family Base allows you to monitor your usage and set limits on usage for data, messages, calls and purchases. You also have the ability to block incoming calls and text messages, as well.

  • Family Base, wrong time

    I recently added the Family Base feature on my sons Windows phone because he kept going over the data limits.  I've also put time restrictions, 9 p.m. - 6 a.m. on weekdays but have been receiving alerts which show he is texting after 10:30 p.m.  That's highly doubtful because my son charges his phone in the kitchen and goes to bed around 9 p.m.  Also, I am a night owl who goes to bed around 11-midnight so I KNOW he doesn't use his phone at that time.  What's up with that?  Could the times shown on the alert be incorrectly showing the morning hours instead of the nighttime hours?  His phone clock is correct so I don't understand why this would happen.

    This is happening in my Family Base as well. It shows that I called my son at 4:00am, when in fact my phone doesn't show a call was made, even by accident. There seems to be erroneous data in the Family Base. I would be careful how you monitor and/or control. I use it at a tool to open discussion with my kids, knowing that it may be incorrect. Maybe since your post is 3 months old and Verizon hasn't answered, they are aware of the problem but don't care to reply.

  • Accessing Family Base

    I recently switched to a More Everything plan with 10GB of shared data. On my old plan, I had subscribed to Family Base for $5/mo. On my current plan, it states that I still have this service, yet when I try to go in and manage my data, I asks me to register for the program. How can I access this without paying for this service again?

        Hi Peter,
    We want you to have all the features you need on your account! Family Base is a monthly paid subscription feature. In order for this feature to work properly on your account you would need to subscribe and pay the monthly amount http://vz.to/1lCbO5m .

  • Aging report from a different base date

    Hi,
    There is a requirement in Aging report. The report should show the the 30, 30-60, 60-90 etc with a different base date/(reference date (OPEN DATE) in stead of the current date. In this case current date should be shown as RUNDATE and there should be one more date field as OPEN DATE  in the page footer.
    Please help me to solve this. Thanks in advance.
    BABASHARI

    Add a parameter for the date that you want to age by.  Use the datediff() function to determine the age of each item in a formula field that uses that age to group items by the range of dates desired (basic syntax):
    dim days as number
    days = datediff("d",{due date}, {?date parameter})
    if days < 31
      formula = "  0 to  30"
    elseif days < 61
      formula = " 31 to  60"
    elseif days < 91
      formula = " 61 to  90"
    elseif days < 121
      formula = " 91 to 120"
    else
      formula = "Over 120"
    end if

  • Problem in WV with Family Base, need help

    We currently have 2 Android phones for my husband and me, and two iPhone 4 phones for my daughters. When I signed up for Family Base and created controls (no texting/internet after 10:00 p.m. etc) all four phones lost the ability to make or receive phone calls. NO calls out or in. We could not call each other, we could not call other family members, the ability to use the phones to make calls was completely gone. When I DE-activated Family Base, we got the ability to make calls again. THIS ONLY HAPPENED IN WEST VIRGINIA.  Once we crossed the border into Maryland or PA, the ability to call in or out was restored, but once we came back into WV, we were again cut off from calls. We tried to activate and then deactivate multiple times, and always had the same outcome. We gave up Family Base altogether when our phones ceased to work ANYWHERE, ANY STATE, for phone calls.
    Please tell me that we are NOT the only family that has had this issue and please tell me someone is working on a fix, because it's a GREAT feature, provided you can use it and it doesn't mess up your phone. Tech support had NO idea what could have caused it.

        Thanks for providing us with additional information TeriB19. Let's get your service back to making calls successfully. After adding Family Base, did you verify you did not add a usage restriction? Adding a minute usage restriction will disable the phones from working after you have reached the usage limit set.
