Family Locator

Can anyone offer me any positive advice on how to get Verizon's "Family Locator" to work accurately amongst 4 family members, all using Apples 4Gs phones? and what are the directions to get them working properly?

Advice on family locator software w/Droid and LG Touch

I (Mom) on a Droid (last year's version) need to track my son on his LG Touch. Is there any family tracking software that is compatible w/both phones? I tried the Verizon Family Locator app, but the salesperson in a Verizon store concluded that my 'older' Droid does not support this app. I'm worried that my Droid is too old for family locator software. Do I really need to upgrade to the latest Droid or an iPhone for this functionality? Also, does such an app support a cross-platform pair of phones? Make sense? Many thanks.

Which Droid do you have? "Last year's version" doesn't mean a whole lot.
Are you aware of the cost of this app? I believe that it is $9.99/month for your phone AND $9.99/month for your son's phone. If your son does not have a data plan on his phone, you will ALSO be paying for data to use the app on his phone at a rate of $1.99/MB.
I believe that this is also not a stealthy app, meaning that his phone makes him aware you are actually locating him at the time you attempt to find him. He can also get around you trying to locate him by just turning his phone off.
In my opinion, this is a VERY expensive proposition for a very limited/questionable return. Since he will know you are trying to keep tabs on him, he will most likely just turn his phone off if/when he goes somewhere you don't want him to be. Of course, it is your son and your decision. Just thought I would point out what this app would actually provide you in terms of functionality. In my opinion, it is a good idea, just not a very good implementation by Verizon at a very high price point.

I can't seem to activate Family Locator on my account. I spent a long time chatting with a rep, but all she could advise is to call tech support. Anyone have trouble signing up for Locator?

Wow...you think it would be easy to give Verizon more money...nope. I can't sign up for Locator and the VZW rep couldn't help me either.

Family Locator Does not work

After about two day of getting reports the service stops and the only way I get it to start again is to log in to the website and locate my family member then I get all the old location report to me at once via text. Then it works for a couple more day and stops. Has been doing this for at least a month. Not the phone change phones same thing . . Removed the client and reinstalled same thing . . . This service is a joke!

We just got a phone for our daughter and added the family locator to it (she has the Intensity 2). This software, I have to say, is a joke. We both have Droid X's and the best that we can get is a target range of anywhere between 2 and 5.6 miles. Umm, considering most of her locations are with a half mile of our house, how does this gigantic target range do anything for us? I also sent up some Updates, like sending us a text whenever she gets to school or leaves it. Drove her to school today and have still not recieved any texts letting me know that she arrived...
Inside or outside, this service does not work. Even better, the only app that Verizon endores for this feature doesn't even work on most phones. Add it to our Droids, pick it, welcome screen comes on, pick 'OK' and it kicks out. Every time. Over and over. Finally downloaded family locator (V) app from somewhere else but it still behaves just like the family locator website - "your phone has been found in an 5.6 mile radius of such-and-such address" ! Brilliant. Glad we haven't lost her yet..........
I would like to cancel this service, but apparently Verizon does not want you to have an easy way to do this. There is no location anywhere on the website where you can disable this (worthless) feature. I guess I need to, yet again, call customer service.

My daughter lost her phone. It is still ringing when called and is showing up on our family locator. Is there anyway to pinpoint where it is? She didn't have icloud find my phone turned on when the phone was lost.

My daughter lost her iphone. I can locate it with verizon family locator, as it is still working, but this doesn't pinpoint it well enough for us to find it. She did not have the find my iphone in icloud turned on when the phone was lost. Is there any way to change the settings on her phone from a pc so I can turn this on?

If the iphone is a device which is using the iOS 7.0.4 then the 'find my device' is turned on by default. With this being said if you will go to www.icloud.com and login with your apple id login which is assocaited with the device icloud will pinpoint the device within a 10 meter radius.

Family Locator - When available on the Droid 3? Reportedly it is available on older Droid phones

Does anyone know when the Verizon Family Locator service will be available on the Droid 3?
The locatee application is reportedly available on the Droid 2, but not yet with the Droid 3.

This may be because of hardware and OS diffrences, I would guess that they are working on a update that should work for you... Have you contacted CS and see if they had a update for this?

How to download family locator from verizon

this isnt really an app, and I have been searching for an hour trying to download this to my phone so I can also download it to my daughters phone....can someone please help?

I just spoke with Verizon for the same thing myself. It seems the Palm phone is not compatible with the family locator through Verizon. There are some applications you can download, but not really the same thing. The downloaded applications seem to be more for use of the person holding the phone and they can send their location to anyone else Sorry - wish I could help and I wish it would work too !! If anyone else knows of a way to get this to work please let me know !!

Cancelling family locator

Anyone know if I can cancel my family locator plan without having to call and wait through the telephone tree? I'd like to manage this online and restart later. I am the "locator" and won't need this plan until my child starts driving, etc and trying to minimize my monthly charges right now. Thanks

Family locator feature can only be deactivated in our system by a Customer Service representative. Please dial *611 to contact our Customer Service department when you need to deactivate the Family Locator feature.

Why does the family locator sesson timed out and will not let you log back in for 24 hours?

Sometimes when I log into family locator it says session timed out and signs you out? Than it makes you wait 24 hours or longer to log back in.

angery, Let's get your Family Locator sessions working properly! When this happens, have you tried closing and reopening your web browser? Are you signed into the Family Locator site as the Account Owner or Account Manager? The Family Locator app is also available on select mobile devices. Open the app store (e.g., Google Play , App Store , etc.) on your device and search for Verizon Family Locator. If the app appears in the search results, your device is compatible and you can download the app. This may be a great alternative to the Web Site. Does the VZW Family Locator work on the Droid Razr Maxx after ICS update?

The VZW Family Locator App from "Play Store" finds the Area-Location of my phone to about five miles, but it will not finish the "refining" action before timing out. Am I leaving something undone or is this App only partially compatible with the Droid Razr Maxx.

Benidle, I'll be happy to assist you with Family Locator on your Razr Maxx. The app is compatible, but I just want to make sure that you have the feature active on your account as well. The app in the PlayStore is free to download, but there is a $9.99 charge for Family Locator. You can add this feature on your account by logging into My Verizon.
If you have the feature and are still receiving this error, make sure your location settings are all turned on in Settings, Location Services.

Activating Family Locator

I tried all of the steps in the step-by-step in the guide & I cannot activate it on my LG Octane, through it says it is completely capable. My phone, under Media Center, Browse & Download, Get New Applications, shows "No items were found." Any more suggestions before & cancel it, having already been chanrged for a service I don't have & cannot set up?

Hi, that sounds frustrating and I hope you get that resolved. I'm not familiar with Family Locator. I just wanted to point out---it looks like your username is your cell phone number. You might want to change that for privacy reasons Good luck with Family Locator!

Family Locator Question

Is there any way to stop the automatic text message to the phone that is being located with family locator? I would rather not have my kids know that I am wondering where they are.

Bergybox, family locator is such a great monitoring tool for children. I understand why you wouldn't want them to know when they are being located. Due to privacy laws, we have to notify the user of that phone that they are being located. You can set the option to notify them without requiring their consent, but they still have to be alerted.

Family Locator Problem - Please Help

I have been unable to get the Family Locator service to work. I've spent countless hours on the phone troubleshooting this issue and it's still not working. I purchased 3 new phones at considerable expense to try to resolve the issue. I've opened up several tickets with Verizon, and they seem unable or unwilling to resolve my problem. <comment removed to comply with Verizon Wireless Terms of Service> The error message I get when I try to use the service is always the same: "You must have at least 1 locatable phone in this account to use Verizon Family Locator. Please contact Customer Care to ensure that your mobile phones are locatable." All my phones are listed as locatable. I get this same message whether I use the parent phone (an iPhone 5) or the Verizon web site via PC.

I am so sorry to hear the family locator is not working as expected. Using the feature myself I know how great of a feature it is. I want to make sure we are going down the correct path to get this matter resolved. What device are you using the application with? Also is the GPS feature turned on all the devices?
