Family map consistently stops locating family members

I have been using the Family Map app for almost a year.  At first, it was great.  It proved to be very consistent locating family members.  Then suddenly in April, after an AT&T update on my Samsung phone, I completely lost the ability to track one family member.  I called AT&T tech services a few times.  No one could help me.  I canceled the service twice because I was so frustrated.  Then in June, after a routine Family Map update, I could suddenly track the family member that was not trackable for over a month.  Everything was working fine until this past week when Family Map stopped tracking my other child's phone.  That child informed me that she had an AT&T update this past week on her HTC phone.  Now I cannot track her and we have tried everything logical to get the app to work.  I have deleted and then added that family member back onto my family map account; we have uninstalled the Family Map updates; we have re-installed the app on her phone.   I am paying full price for half the service!

It may be time to try some free apps that do the same thing.
Try Life360. It works on all types of phones. So far it works as long as GPS is on. There is an upgrade option for a single payment of $15, but I haven't seen any need to update.

Each person needs to have their own separate Apple ID along with their own separate computer user account and iTunes Library.

Or better yet, create and use new Apple IDs for others in your household. You could always use different Apple IDs for iCloud services (like iMessage and FaceTime) and iTunes and App Store., but it's even easier to share purchased content now with Family Sharing.

Change the password for your AppleID you used to set up iMessaging, and do not tell them the password.  Tell them to get their own AppleIDs for use with their own iMessage accounts.

I have an iPhone 6 Plus, latest ios8, and yes my location says it is being shared, but it is not.

I decided to try and boot from the Tiger discs, but when I did, all I got was a screen that looked like a blizzard of pixels.
The firmware was likely changed and it's not compatible anymore or the disk is bad.
I was able to boot using the Snow Leopard disc from both my new MBP and my girlfriends MB, but both said that OS X could not be installed on this computer, and I couldn't even use the disc utility to wipe the drive.
Those disks don't have the hardware drivers your machine needs.
Your going to need to get a Snow Leopard retail install disk from Amazon/elsewhere.
Do I need to have a serial number to reinstall OS X?
    Thankfully No.

  • Several family members have iphones and our contacts are all merged. Help me stop that please.

Several of our family members have iPhones. Our contact lists keep merging, along with our bookmarks and other things like that. How can we create a separate space for each of us so that we don't share all that information?

Yes, set them up with their own Apple IDs:
    http://appleid.apple.com
An Apple ID may have been entered in the following places:
    Settings > iCloud > Account
    Settings > Messages > Send & Receive
    Settings > FaceTime
Settings > iTunes & App Stores

  • Already Converted 10 of my family members over to AT&T for Nokia Lumia 900!!!

    Verizon,
You decided to drag you feet, promote the crap out of Android and stop supporting Windows Phone 7.
So I converted 10 of my family members over yesterday to AT&T for the Nokia Lumia 900.
I got them $100 credit towards the Nokia Lumia 900 which AT&T was charging $99 dollars for the phone on Pre-Order.
So my family members only had to pay $36 for the activation fee.
Verizon, you had your chance.  You had multiple chances.  If you truly wanted an LTE Windows Phone 7 from Microsoft, you could have easily worked something out with them, just like AT&T did.
All the information has been leaked out, Apollo/Windows Phone 8 was supposed to have LTE but because AT&T showed that they really were interested in Windows Phone 7 and actually carring a lineup of Windows Phone 7, Microsoft worked it out for them.
So you can take all your Droid crap that you have heavily invested in, along with all your iPhone 4s that keep hogging all the bandwidth on your network and stick it were the sun don't shine.
I promise you this, when my contract is done I will be terminating my account in FULL and switching over to AT&T as well.
To not even stand behind a product that we all have signed 2 year contracts with is unacceptable for the price were paying.  To hold back all updates besides Mango is unacceptable just to lock in new 2 year contracts.  And I'm talking about Droid too.
Carriers should not be in controll of phone updates PERIOD!!!  Updates should be released from the OS Manufactures just like on computers.  This business model that the industry has created is a SCAM, JOKE and an INSULT to everyone that puts there hard earned money up for phone service.
Verizon, you have lost all respect in my book, and I will do everything possible to get everyone and everybody I talk to away from your network.
Only way to solve this issue is to address the Windows Phone 7 community and actually annouce something, PERIOD!!!  Release the 8107 update as a good faith measure and issue a press release stating your business model regarding Windows Phone 7... Unless you want more dollars going to AT&T.
Also, latest news shows that Android only made $22million in revenues last year, and spend $20 billion acquiring Motorola.  So I don't see Andriod being able to do much in the year 2012 to ramp things up to compete against Windows Phone 7/Nokia and Apple.
Do Something, NOW!!! CAN YOU HEAR US NOW!!!
Also, here's another suggestion... Do like AT&T has done and give users a early termination fee to get out of there contracts.  I believe they charge $35 dollars or something higher if your not satisified and want to terminate your contract early.
Since you don't want to support or offer any more Windows Phone 7, why keep us as unhappy customers.  Give us an option to pay a early termination fee and leave!!!

What news are you reading? Android is not a company but a phone operating system. GOOGLE acquired Motorola, not Android. GOOGLE's 2011 revenues were 37.9 billion, NOT 22 million. Google acquired Motorola for 12.5 billion, NOT 20 billion.

Again, where are you getting this information? The AT&T ETF is $325 less $10 for each month of your contract which has been completed. It is NOT $35. Verizon has a similar, although slightly higher ETF of $350 less $10 for each month of your contract which has been completed.
Yes, we can hear you, but you are not making any sense!

  • How can I prevent my texts showing on another family members iPhone?

How can I prevent my texts showing on another family members iPhone?

Stop using the same apple ID for iMessage on both phones.
Your question has already been asked and answered many many times. Search before posting please.

  • Problems with iPhone messaging - received messages showing as sent messages and messages sent to one family member gets received by other family members.

AT&T family plan - 4 iPhones in use by family members (4s, 4g, and two 3g's).  Weird things happen when we text message:
    1.   Sometimes, received messages look like they are sent messages - and no alert is sounded.   The conversation looks like you are talking to yourself.   Sometimes it happens to both parties in a text conversation, sometimes it only happens to one party.   Deleting the message entirely and starting over from scratch sometimes fixes the problems and sometimes doesn't fix the problem.  Once this phenomenon starts in a conversation it is almost impossible to get it to stop.
    2.     Sometimes text messages to a specific family member get replicated to other family members as if in a group conversation - but group is turned off.   This happens sporadically but it happens.   Quite embarassing when husband and wife are sending private messages then suddenly the kids see the message on their iPhones!   Can't figure out why this happens or what makes it happen, but happens a lot!!!
Has anyone had these problems or knows how to fix them?

    Be specific.
    Everyone?  or Every Device?
If every device, does that mean you can no longer share apps?
    KiltedTim wrote:
You have configured multiple devices to use the same AppleID for iMessage.
Don't do that. iMessage is designed to sync messages between all devices configured with the same Apple ID.
Everyone should have their own Apple ID. They were never designed to be shared.

  • TS4006 Can I use find my phone to find other family members devices if they have separate Apple ID

Can I use my find my phone on my iphone or iPad to find other family members I phones if they have their own apple id's etc?

If they have Settings > iCloud > Find My iPhone enabled on their phones and you know the id that it's linked to and the account's password then you can use the Find My iPhone app on another device to try and locate them.

  • How do I keep family members from locking or erasing a devce while viewing it from find My iPhone?

I have just subscribed to family sharing.  I notice that when I sign into find my iPhone using a family member's device, all devices are visible. This is could be helpful and convenient, but I don't like the idea that family members can lock and erase anyone's device.  How do I prevent this without turning off find my iPhone?

Family sharing allows you to see each other's location and device.  It isn't their iCloud account, which is where locking or erasing could be done with their account password.

  • ESS Family Members iView - Change UI Elements

    Hi guys,
On ESS Family Members iview, the subtypes (i.e. family members) appear as buttons on the page - 1 button for each family subtype. I'm trying to change it from family subtypes appearing as buttons to values in a dropdown list. However, when i do so, it keeps hitting error:
    com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.context.ContextException: DataNodeInfo(BizCardsView): unknown child node
    What I did was:
    - Modify FcPersInfo.CreateOverview method
    - comment off the buttons creation
    - basically replace the code with:
    IWDDropDownByIndex DDI =  (IWDDropDownByIndex) view.createElement(IWDDropDownByIndex.class, "dd");
    DDI.bindTexts(wdGetContext().nodeSubtypes_Info().getNodeInfo().getAttribute("Stext"));
    container.addChild(DDI);
Has anyone met this error b4 and can share your resolution pls? Thank you.

K, issue solved. This is due to context node not existing in the view.
However, my context node contains the keys such as 1,2,3. How can i get it to display the subtype word itself, that the key map to? such as Child, Spouse,...

  • Finding family members lost iPhone

If I want to locate a family members lost iphone does the username and password for icloud have to be the same on his device and mine?
What if his username and password are different than mine, can I still locate his lost iphone?

You need to sign into iCloud (or find my iPhone app) with his Apple ID and password. For this to work he needed to have location services active.
