Family of 5, all use the same Apple ID/Password/Account.  In settings/messages/send>recieve you can "check" my email and up to three phone numbers.  Essentially allowing all iMessages to be copied to shared account numbers.  Please help me figure out  how to prevent my children from recieving my text correspondence.

On the devices for the members of your family that you DO NOT want to see your iMessagees, go to
Settings App
Messages
Send and Receive
You should see a list of available contacts which would make messages appear. Make certain that each family member has their own individual contact and NOT the same one that you use. I find it useful to have each family member have their own icloud email and use that for iMessaging my kids. My kids do not have iPhones, but if yours do, their phone number should be listed as well. For iPads and iTouches, use icloud email addresses. If you need to send a message to all 3 kids, say, you can just add all three emails to the To box on your iMessage.
Hope that makes sense.

  • How do you make separate ICloud accounts for people who all use the same Apple ID?

Me, my brother and mam all use the same Apple ID (i.e. this one. I'm not Debra) so is it possible to create three different ICloud accounts? I only want my music, pictures etc to go to my IPad, IPhone and my account on the Mac. If it's not possible, is there a way to see all the activity from this Apple ID in one place and split it into three different ID's easily? Thank's for any replies

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't have 3 accounts with one ID.
If the reason you want to keep a single ID is so you can share music and apps etc, then you should be aware that the iTunes account and iCloud accounts are different accounts, you can all share an iTunes account but have different iCloud accounts (each iCloud account would have its own ID).

  • HT202213 We have 3 ipods in our family, should we all use the same apple id?

We have 3 ipods in our family (myself and my two teenage daughters), should we all use the same apple id?  We want to be able to share our music, etc. but choose what we want.  Please help.
I tried to read about home sharing, but it sounds like everyone has to have the same id.
One of my daughter's ipod keeps dumping all music and apps everytime I attach it to the computer to try to sync.  I think it may be because I set hers up with my id.  I am sure this is supposed to be simple, but I feel like I don't want to do something wrong.  I appreciate your help.

Create NEW account/ID for them using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results in being at least 13 years old
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Use the new ID on their devices but only for:
    Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
    Settings>FaceTime
    Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases.

  • I'm a school tech coordinator. Many computers and many iPads. How many Apple IDs can I have per device, and how many devices can have the same Apple ID? To make my life easier, I'd like 200 devices to all use the same Apple ID.

I'm a school tech coordinator. I have many computers and many iPads. I apologize if there is a some place that has all the rules governing the use of Apple IDs. I looked, and I even tried to get the answers from multiple Apple rep's. I couldn't find the answers.
How many Apple IDs can I have per device?
I want to use the same computer to sync and backup many iOS devices. The iOS devices would be associated with different Apple IDs.
I may load apps under a school Apple ID and have users load their own apps under thier own ID.
How many devices can have the same Apple ID?
Can I use the same Apple ID on all the computers in a lab?
Can I use the same Apple ID on all iPads for a particular grade level?
Are the rules different for iOS devices and computers?
I know that there are limits on "authorize" and "de-authorize" and how frequently those things can be done.
Recently I heard that for the life of an iOS device, it can only be associated with five Apple IDs. That is not good for a school giving iPads to students in a 1:1
To make my life easier, I'd like 200 devices to all use the same Apple ID.

Add another e-mail account to your messages, so people could reach you on that e-mail from messages. As soon as you are online (if you have wifi only iPad) you are able to send and receive messages. i.e. your son can send you a messages from his iPhone addressing it to your (that additional) e-mail address.

  • How do I separate 3 different devices all using the same apple ID

HELP PLEASE!! My wife has a macbook which is about 5 years old. We used our only email address at that time as our apple ID. Since then we have bought her an iphone 4 and registered it with the same apple ID. Then a few months later I made the jump from my blackberry to an iphone 4 and used the same apple id. All these devices are now tethered to the same apple id as well as our family itunes account. So, we have a family itunes account, an older macbook and 2 iphone 4's all with the same apple id. With me so far? Now, everything was cool until the iOS update came out for our 2 iphones and came with the new icloud app. When my wife and I set up our icloud accounts everything that was on her phone showed up on mine and everything that was on mine showed up on hers. How do I change the apple id's on her phone and computer, keep the apple id we already have on my phone and continue to share the itunes account? An important note here is that the apple id's are my email address. HELP!!!!

    OK this might help you
you need both iphones and the mac next open itunes and click on itunes prefrences now you will need to go to devices and erase all iphone back ups
next plug the phone with your info to the mac and rename that iphone with your name and back it up, After the back up safely remove it
next plug the phone with your wifes info into the mac and follow the same steps.
after the back up is done restore your wifes iphone and when ask to restore as a new iphone you need to scroll down to her name and click on it then do the same with your phone
this will put all info into the corresponding phones

  • HT2204 I have 3 iphones and all use the same apple ID,how do I change this so each phone has its own id,do i restore the phones to factory settings first??as im having problems with contacts being added to and deleted from each phone.

I have 3 Iphone 4S and all have the same apple ID which is causing problems as far as contacts are concerned, when i sync 1 of the phones to my comp the contacts appear on all the phones. How do i create a new ID for each of the phones do I have to reset the phones to factory settings first, any help would be appreciated.:)

    Hello marie196,
Thanks for the question, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
You do not necessarily need to restore the device to factory settings, but rather sign out of the four services that utilize your Apple ID: iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, and iTunes & App Stores. Once signed out, you can sign in with a new Apple ID. For more information, see the following article:

Additional Information: You may encounter an error regarding a 90-day limit. For information on this, see the following article:

  • Please can someone tell me how to set up FaceTime between 3 devices all using the same apple ID ( 2 iPads and a iPhone)????, Please can someone tell me how to set up FaceTime between 3 devices all using the same apple ID ( 2 iPads and a iPhone)????

I am trying to set up FaceTime on all my apple devices so I can FaceTime each device but all 3 devices are using the same apple Id and I have no idea how to sort this???

Facetime only works with two devices at a time. You can have the same Apple ID, but the two devices can't have the same email address. Get a new gmail account. Normally you use wifi for connection, however, with iOS 6 and an iPad 3 you can use cellular.

  • HT5624 My husband, myself & our 2 daughters all use the same Apple ID but w different user names. Is this a potential problem?

4 members of my family use the same Apple ID but different user names
Is this a potential problem w privacy etc?

Since the Apple ID does not have a username, I suppose you mean different e-mail-adresses?
In theory, this is not a problem, but of course it can be difficult if you want to keep things separated. For example, logging in with you Apple ID will automatically set up iCloud and sync your calendar, reminder, notes, mails etc. You can disable this syncing on your daughter's devices, but then they won't be able to use functionalities unless they create their own accounts (for example set up another email account). I think (but I am not 100% on this) they will be able to create reminders/notes etc. locally on the iphone.
If you mean app-wise or legal-wise: No, this is not an issue. You can use your Apple ID and the apps you bought on up to five different devices. Still, for simplicities sake and to give everyone their share of privacy I personally would suggest different IDs for everyone.

So my question is can I use my own apple id without affecting the fact we have a family plan? I would like to make my own app store purchases with my own credit card and not my sisters fiance since we are using his apple id.  PLEASE HELP ME SOMEONE!

Whoever told you that has no idea what they're talking about. Ignore that advise.

  • We have 2 iphones 4 and one ipod touch and they all use the same apple address for purchases.  How do we stop getting each others texts?

We are recieveing each others texts, it has only happened since we upgrated to iOS6.  We only get each others iMessages.

You have two issues: 1. iPad is designed for single person use, not multiple users like a computer is, 2. Everyone trying to use this "single person" device uses the same Apple ID. As far as iMessage is concerned, this is the same person...how would it know differently?
There is no solution to fix this. Even if everyone got their own Apple ID's, you're still trying to use a device, designed to be used by a single user, with multiple users. It simple is not gonna work, and if you manage to get it to work, it won't work very well.

  • Two iPhones, both mine, using the same Apple ID iCloud account

I've seen similar questions but it is always being brought up by members of a family each with their own phone sharing an account. My scenario is different...
I have an activated Verizon iPhone 5, running iOS 7.1.x. I have an Apple ID and it backs up stuff to my iCloud account.
I've just received an, as of right now, non-activated T-Mobile iPhone 6. I haven't turned it on yet but it'll of course have iOS 8.x.
Both phones are mine. In a couple weeks, I'm going to go through the whole process of porting my number from Verizon to T-Mobile, but for reasons I won't go into now, I can't do that just yet.
If I power on the new iPhone 6 now, because I'm excited and want to play around with it, I should be able to just use it Wi-Fi. My question then is can I use both devices with the same Apple ID / iCloud account?
Obviously phone calls and non-Wi-Fi data will only be working through the iPhone 5, since it's the only one with service, and that's fine. But what happens with backups and syncing? Will new photos and apps end up on both? Will contacts, the call history, and messages (texts and iMessages) end up syncing? Will syncing work in both directions? Any other caveats or problems that I might run into? If it's a pain, I can just leave the iPhone 6 alone, and wait until I port my number over.
    Thanks,
    Manny
P.S. I've never ported a number or upgraded from one iPhone to another, so I don't know how it normally works. I'm assuming my Apple ID can "transfer" everything. I don't have much on my phone so it all fits within my iCloud storage. I don't use it with iTunes, or hook it up to any computer at all, or for music, movies, etc. Just apps, contacts, settings, photos, etc.

    Thanks for the response.
So I basically won't run into any trouble? I
There should be no issues. Its designed to work like that.  You don't change Apple IDs just because you get a new device.
    mannyace wrote:
    Thanks for the response.
Is there any chance that the phones can fall out of sync?
Unlikely. But nothing is impossible.   Though I don;t see how that would happen. As long as both are signed into the Same Apple ID / iCloud Account they will be N'Sync. (Bad Joke)
    mannyace wrote:
    Thanks for the response.
If I get a message or buy an app or take a photo on the iPhone 5, how do I get those things onto the iPhone 6?
If you buy an App, you have 2 ways to get it to the iPhone6: If Automatic Downloads is enabled in Settings->iTunes & App Store, it will automatically download to the iPhone 6 when you buy it on the 5 and vice versa if you buy it on the 6, it will download to the 5.
Alternatively, you can simply go to the App Store App->Updates->Purchased and look for the App there and download it. Purchased Apps will not require payment again. i.e They'll be free to download to the iPhone 6 once purchased.
SMS Messages will sync over using Continuity as long as they are on the same Wifi network. Otherwise, restoring the iPhone 5 backup to the iPhone 6 will transfer all messages received up until the backup was made onto the iPhone 6.
Images, can be transferred either through Photo Stream
My Photo Stream FAQ - Apple Support
Or any Cloud service you want such as Dropbox, or One Drive.
    mannyace wrote:
Also, something i forgot to ask initially: Should I update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8 first or does that not matter?
If you want the Continuity features as explained above you need to update the iPhone 5 to iOS 8. Otherwise its not all that important.

  • HT204053 can I use the same apple ID/icloud account for 2 iphones?

I have 2 Iphones in the family.  Want the same music, ad apps on both phones.  Can I do this with one Itunes account?

You can use the same AppleID for purchases (iTunes and App store), but as Winston mentions, get a second AppleID for iCloud and iMessage.  Otherwise, you will be sharing the exact same iCloud and iMessage accounts on both phones, so no privacy of messages or email between the devices.

  • My daughter and I currently use the same Apple ID.  What do I need to do to make sure her music is not on my phone?

My daughter and I share the same Apple ID.  When she purchases music, it is always on my phone, and vice versa.  I donot want her music on my phone.  How can I do this without erasing it from her phone as well?

This is not really an iCloud issue.
    But
Use iTunes on a computer and sync just the music you want.
iTunes remembers your iPhone's sync info and will not take the music off her iPhone

  • I upgraded my IOS on my iphone 4s tonight and now I am getting my daughter's text messages sent only to her iphone 3. We have an iphone3, an iphone 4, and an iphone 4s that all use the same Apple ID.

I do not want to change this setting so if that is the problem, how do I undo the upgrade?

Just use one Apple ID for App Store, and separate Apple ID's for everything else.
Set one Apple ID for App Store on all three iPhones, and then for iMessage, Facetime, Photostream and iCloud - separate for each headset.
You can't undo firmware upgrade. Just make separate ID's because there is the point of using one Apple ID for App Store (Financial resons), but using one apple ID for iCloud and rest is absolutely pointless.
