Family Pack to iCloud

I have myself and 3 family members in a Mobileme family account. I've moved my wife over to iCloud this morning without a hitch, and want to move my daughter and brother in law too.
If I as the administrator of the account move myself to iCloud, I believe that the family pack effectively ceases to exist and I can't administer it anymore. Does this however mean that the remaining 2 family members still have Mobileme access and that their mail will work until they decide to change over to iCloud themselves?

I migrated the primary account and then I migrated my 1 $10 additional user account and it appeared to work but now when I try to login to iCloud with that additional user account it keeps trying to migrate it?   I use the same mac account for purchases for both the primary and the addition user account.  How can I tell if it migrated or if it is still stuck in .me?

  • MobileMe Family Pack to iCloud email

    Greetings,
My question regards my former "family pack" on mobile me.
First, I have migrated all of my accounts and devices (well, until today) over to iCloud (3 macs, 3 iPhones, 1 iPad).
Under mobile me, I was the master account holder, and I had sub accounts (emails) setup for my wife and daighter - all good.
So, I used 2 of the 3 subaccounts available under my plan.
Christmas brought my Son a new iPad.
I figured I could just go in and use my 4th sub account to get him setup - however, under iCloud I see no provision to get to the account setup area.
Is this now obsolete? I know I've paid for my family pack through (I think June 2012) all I really want to do is setup my Son with an @me email account (which he really won't even use for awhile) and make it so he can access the app store, etc.
Do I have to setup a completely separate account for him (and pay yet another fee for iCloud service for him?
What happens when my current family pack expires - separate accounts (and fees) for each user?
    I'm confused.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'd like to get this new iPad setup today :-)
    THANK YOU!

Her email address is her Apple ID. She should go to http://me.com/move and enter her MobileMe email address and password to upgrade: she will need to be running 10.7.2.

  • Moving a MobileMe Family Pack to iCloud. How to sync to one library

I've been putting off moving our devices from MoblieMe to iCloud, but it's fast approaching.
My problem is we use one Apple ID for all iTunes, AppStore purchases, but we have a collection of email addresses we use. @me.com
I see we can use each email address as an Apple ID for iCloud, but I want all the devices to sync photos, and purchases to one common iTunes and iPhoto Library.
    Is this possible?
    We've got the following devices.
    27" iMac, my work computer
15" MacBook Pro, wifes computer. A modified MacBook Pro 3,1. It has an SSD Boot Drive, and the SuperDrive has been replaced with a regular HDD for user accounts.
    1st Gen iPad
    iPhone 3GS
    iPhone 4
Both computers will be running Lion.
I'd like all photos and purchases made on the iDevices to sync to my wifes 15" MBP as this will be the home computer. We'll have two user accounts on this computer. Mine and her's. I assume that I can put the iTunes / iPhoto Libraries in the shared folder rather than user accounts?
Fingers Crossed I can make this work!

No unfortunately that is not entirely possible.
To begin with, I would like to try to explain Apple's confusing nomenclature in regard to iCloud.
Apple have called the whole cloud thing iCloud, there are a number of features under the iCloud umbrella, some of which require their own login. iTunes is one of these, another is what Apple have unfortunately also called iCloud.
You can use the same Apple ID (account) to login to both iCloud and iTunes, but you don't need to and often users will login to each service using a different ID.
The part that you need to remember is that the services available when you log into iCloud are completely different and unrelated to those when you log in to iTunes. Your iCloud login enables mail, contacts, calendars, find my phone, Back to My Mac, Documents & Data sharing and photosstream, it does not affect any of your iTunes services.
To avoid confusion when discussing your problem, when I mention iCloud, I am referring to the services under the iCloud login, Whereas I will refer to the whole cloud thing as The Cloud.
So in essence you can all have your own iCloud account and hence maintain your own e-mail, contacts and calendars and all use the same account for iTunes and therefore share your purchases such as music, books and apps et cetera. But a single user account on your Mac, can only sync with one primary account. You can add additional secondary accounts at system preferences >mail, contacts & calendars, but secondary accounts do not have all the features of the primary account including photo stream.

  • I have an individual mobile me account which has successfully migrated to iCloud. I am keen for the kids to start learning e-mailing. Is there a family pack as in the old MobileMe? I am keen to have parental control over content.

I have an individual mobileme account on icloud.
I am keen to start the kids on e-mailing with individual accounts, but I am keen to control content.
Does iCloud offer a similar pack to the old mobileme family pack?

There are no family packs for iCloud.
If you want them to have their own accounts and monitor their email, add their accounts as secondary accounts to your own (system preferences > mail, contacts & calendars > add account).

  • HT4436 How can I transfer my odl family pack email to new iCloud id? Or add a new email account (not an alias) to my main icloud id?

I had a family pack but now I am not able to reach my son's email account. How can I find and transfer it? Or how can I open a new email account for my son through my icloud id. Actually it seems as if there is an oprating email account under his name but e-we cannot receive any emails or cannot reach the account settings...

Each sub-account of a MobileMe Family Pack should have been individually migrated to iCloud before August 1st last. Assuming that you didn't do this, you should be able to reactivate the address (though not retrieve its previous contents) by signing in with it in System Preferences>iCloud and enabling Mail - your son should do this on his own Mac or his own user account if he is using your Mac. It's not clear whether he will be able to reactivate the @me.com version or only get an @icloud.com version. (It would be useful to know, when he tries it.)
If he did migrate the account to iCloud then signing in in the same way should retrieve the contents and the @me.com address should work.
Alternatively he can just create a new Apple ID (for which he will need a new non-Apple email address) if he doesn't already have one, and sign in with that, enabling Mail and choosing a new @icloud.com address.
You should note that in none of these cases does his account have anything to do with yours (there is no need for a Family Pack equivalent in iCloud as it's free at basic level).
You could add an email alias to your account, but it's not a good idea as it will mix his emails up with yours and he won't be able to detach it later.

  • Family pack aliases not merged into icloud?

My Mobile Me family pack sub mail address is updated to icloud but I did notice sub address aliases are not merged into icloud. They are still mobile me accounts in Mail. How to merge them into icloud so I could use icloud.com too? Or will Apple delete aliases still under MM some times?
    Anyone find same issue?

  • Trying to access my family pack email addresses to correct before moving over to icloud.  I can't find how to access it.

I'm trying to access my family pack email addresses to correct before moving over to icloud.  I can't find how to access it. Can someone help me?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Connect it to iTunes with a USB cable and update it from the iTunes application.
I have asked for your email address to be edited out. Posting your address in an open thread is a sure way to be bombarded by unwanted email, remember it will be here long after you have resolved your problem, for automated detection software to find.

  • .Mac iCloud family pack migration

I have been using a .Mac (or mobileme) account for years.
It's a family pack. My wife uses her own email account on her somewhat vintage G4 Powerbook.
I can't see how to migrate it within the family pack setup. If I start her off with a whole new iCloud account from scratch (which seems pretty tricky on 10.5 anyway) I have the problem of her iPhone which signs in for purchases on my master account don't I?
I've found and tried to follow a couple of setup guides for iCloud on 10.5.8 but they don't take into account the Family pack wrinkle.
Has anyone seen a walkthru that gets me anywhere near the functionality we've been enjoying for the past 5 years?

You can still migrate for a limited period

  • How verify icloud on cancelled .me family pack email]

I think the reason I'm not getting the verificatin email for my husband's new iphone is that the appleID he has is for an email account that was registered to an email address that was part of a .me family pack that we downsized and that email address no longer exists.  We cancelled it before the me/icloud change over, so now there is no way to add it back.  What should I do now?  What I had assumed was his apple ID all this time in the past, what we have been using for ITUNES and the Apple Store all this time was really just an affiliated email address that is verified on his apple ID account (must have been done previously), but that doesn't seem to be where the verification email is being sent.
Or I could be nuts and that may not be why I'm not getting the verification email, but I have an account and mine worked fine, and so did my daughters, and I'm a VBA report writer and generally not considered an idiot with regards to computers.  I.e. it's not sitting in my junkmail.
    Any advice appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Hello Roger,
    Thank you for the answer.
I think I did migrate to iCloud. I rememeber doing all that process from me.com to iCloud.com
The only problem I have now is that when for example I sign out myself from my wife's laptop and sign her in, she only can share Contacts, Mail and Calendar. She dont have an access to other features like Documents, Bookmarks, etc.
The message I have is: This is not your primary iCould account. Only primary account can use Bookmarks, Photo Stream (etc) or iCloud Storage.
    How can I change that?

  • Family pack account to iCloud ACCOUNTS retain former account holder name.

My children are flying the nest and I have converted and am converting their accounts to Lion and to iCloud from my old mobileme family pack account which contained their mail accounts.  Unfortunately, the new accounts show my name as the continued account holder.  I cannot figure out where this needs to be corrected.  Any ideas.

Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.

  • Setting up a family pack member in iCloud

I bought a family pack last year to set my 89 year old mother up with a me.com account. When I transitioned to iCloud, I tried to transition her to iCloud too, but it keeps rejecting me. She wants to keep that email address, and has an older mac. Upgrading her to a new mac isn't an option. She knows her way around her present mac. A new one would just confuse her.
Is there any way to set up an email only account in iCloud? With her old email address?

Are you running Lion on your mac? if so try setting up a user account for her on your mac and turn on MobileMe to get all her mail and settings. After that try moving her account to iCloud.
If that works you will need to go to her mac and enter the mail server information and such. I think there is some information about the setting on the Apple Support sites somewhere. Here is an outside link that has some good info about using icloud with Snow Leopard. Maybe it will work. Worth a try to keep the email address.

  • HT4929 How do I manage a family pack? I as family main account can migrate, but would like to save all other family email accounts, what do I need to do?

I have a main mobile me account, I now have updated everything of mine to migrate to I cloud, but my account is a family pack, so my daughter, sons and rest of family are not all compatible with I cluod... they all mostly only use mail only. what steps do I need to take so they dont loose their email accounts?
I went on mobile me and selected to keep using mail after mobile me ends, is that good for everyone? can I migrate now? do I need to do something individual for each email account?

I tried just that. When I logged in and proceeded through the iCloud screens, it finally asked me if I wanted to create a NEW iCloud account. Unlike when I migrated myself, it just said something to the effect of "using your current MobileMe account name and password". It did NOT ask me to set up a NEW account. This the ppoint at which I felt stuck. Do you recall if you were asked to set up a new Account and password?
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Convert old .mac/.me family pack emails into new apple ids

A few years ago I set up emails (.mac) for all my family as part if a .mac family account. Now my children are old enough to gave their own apple accounts I want them to be able to create new accounts with their, now .me email addresses as their Apple IDs - how do I/they do this?

Did each family member independently move their @me.com address to iCloud?  I think each address had to be moved separately to retain it in iCloud.
Simple way to see - can any of you log in to www.icloud.com with their @me.com email address and password?
If that is true, then those @me.com addresses are now merely alternate email addresses for their iCloud inbox.  Since the iCloud email address is automatically also an AppleID, they would already have an AppleID (their iCloud email address) and the @me.com would be their alternate email address for that same AppleID.
But, if you did not migrate the family pack, or each family member did not migrate their @me.com email address to iCloud back before July 1, 2012, then your entire family pack will have expired and disappeared.

  • Lion family pack with multiple Apple IDs?

My wife and I each have a Mac, and we each have our own Apple ID. In the past for OS upgrades I could pay one price for a family pack and upgrade both. How do I upgrade both of us to Lion without having to buy the upgrade twice, once from each Apple ID?

  • .mac family pack. Why can't I change these addresses any more?

I bought a family pack years ago and set up email addresses for family members and one for a vacation rental we had. We no longer own the vacation rental and I want to delete that account and set up a new .mac address for what we are now doing? I used to have to pay for the email accounts. Are they now free?

There is no DotMac or MobileMe any more. Each of your Family Pack accounts should have been migrated individually to iCloud, but even if you didn't do that you should be able tro re-enable the addresses (though not access any previous contents) by signing in in System Preferences>iCloud.
You cannot delete Apple IDs or iCloud accounts, but if the account you refer to wasn't migrated it's not active anyway. You cannot re-use the address in another account, and though you can set up new iCloud accounts you cannot create @mac.com addresses, only @icloud.com addresses. There is no Family Pack facility in iCloud.
iCloud is free at basic level with 5GB storage; you can purchase extra storage if you wish.
