Family photo/video album with comments

I am organizing all my families photos/videos. I have 9 brothers/sisters, so you can imagine a lot of family events, many which I will not know much about. I was wondering the best way for me to put these on mobileme/iweb/iphoto which will allow for me to organize them as well as other family members to both view the photos/videos as well as download and comment on (blog?). Also would the comments "stay" with the photo (ie if someone downloaded the photo, would they just get the 105.jpeg file, or would the date/comments be tagged with the photo).

You can go a couple of routes to get photos online and have others add comments.
1 - select a photo page with the options to allow downloading of photos and the adding of comments. Those options are set in the Inspector/Photos pane. This demo page is such a slideshow but doesn't have the comments or download options activated.
2 - select an album page and drag an album from iPhoto onto an albums page via the Media browser. Then set the settings via the same inspector pane top allow comments and downloads, etc. This demo page has two versions of such an album. The bottom one, B, is the default.

Why can't I share a photo stream album with all of my contacts?

I have been able to share one photo stream album with my sister who has an iPhone. When I try to share another album with both a friend who has an iPhone and another sister who does not have an iPhone, their names are greyed out in my contact list. Looking over my contact list for sharing photo stream albums, half of my contacts are normal, and the other half are greyed out. Any suggestions on how I can remedy this nd share with everyone in my contact list?

How to add multiple photos to album with iPhoto 2.0.1

Any way to add multiple photos to an album at one time with iPhoto version 2.0.1? This is my moms PowerbookG4 and I was looking for updates and ways to make it a bit faster, although its an oldie. Any suggestions?

Photos in album with iWeb

I opened a page album, and tryi to drag photos on it (from iPhoto) but doesnt stay!! So can anyone tell me where I should drag these photos?

In your iPhoto, select the photos you want to put in an album, then you should be able to export to iWeb. When iWeb opens, it should prompt you to pick if you want to set up a photo page with all the photos selected. If you go ahead with that, an album should automatically be set up.
Manually, you also should be able to create a new album (new photo page) within iWeb either through right click on the left navigation bar or through the drop down menu. Give it a try?

Photos & videos synced with icloud on my pc are always inverted

I have an iphone 4s and the photos i click on my phone are synced with my windows 7 pc properly only thing is that the photos appear inverted in the photo stream folder on my pc. I always hav to correct them and before editing them.
also the videos shot in my iphone when copied to my windows 7 pc and when played appear inverted by 180 degree .
These videos if played on quict times only appear alright but if played on other players they are inverted completely.
It is not always easy to take a pic or a video holding the phone uside down or inverted with the clickin button at bottom wen phone is placed in a landscape mode.

Go to www.icloud.com and see if they are there.
And stop with the double sync, either use iCloud or iTunes (which is not iCloud) you will have problems if you use both.

How do I remove the extra photo stream albums?

Using an iPhone 4 with iOS 5.
When I take a photo using the Camera App, the Photos App creates a new, separate, Photo Stream Album with only 1 photo.
Now I have 50+ Photo Stream albums.
Here is what I've tried, but still cannot remove these albums (in no particular order):
- Turned on/off Photo Stream.
- Deleted iCloud account from iPhone
- Reset Photo Stream from iCloud.com
- Forced quit Photos App (and all other apps)
- Restarted the iPhone
- Deleted all photos via Image Capture
- Attempted to "edit" albums, but no option to delete
But still, these photos and albums still remain. I am able to tap on an album, see the picture, and have the option to save it to my camera roll (but it doesn't actually save it to the camera roll).
One final obervation, every time I turn on/off Photo Stream, it creates an additional empty Photo Stream album. So now the list of albums keeps growing.
Very odd behavior. Any suggests from the community before I do a complete restore?

I have a similar problem. I told iTunes not to sync any photos and delete whatever was there. Then I turned off Photostream. Even when I did that I have an extra Photostream with no photos in it. There's no way to delete it.

What is the easiest way to create and share photo/video gallery or slide show with family via web?

I am brand new to Lightroom (converted from Aperture) and made the conversation mainly because I thought that Adobe would bring many more options and because Apple has discontinued development of Aperture. Part of the reason I am asking this question is because there is so much information out there on this subject that it is overwhelming and actually is making it difficult to determine the best way to simply arrange my photos/videos into a slideshow and then to publish somewhat of a gallery or slideshow to show family and friends in other states.
I do not like publishing things to Facebook/etc. Too public. I just want a simple, efficient way to create a gallery with music and have a link I can send to my family (they all live in another state).
Any help narrowing this down for me would be greatly appreciated!

an airport extreme base station would do the job, it has several ethernet ports for use by non-wireless devices, allows connecting a usb printer to share, and supports both pc and mac via wireless
config is via a dedicated set-up utility
however, you can always connect the printer to the mac or pc and share it that way, so having this support in the base station isn't essential
a much cheaper unit from netgear etc. (such as the netgear wgr614) would offer the other features, be far more compact, and allow configuration via web browser, which might be a factor if you need to give 'remote support'
i've got both airport and netgear wireless devices, imho for non-technical users the netgear is simpler than the airport due to the web browser configuration

Photo albums with video

Hi all,
I can't surely be the only one with this problem so i would like to know what solutions people have come up with.
My folders are organized as follows: YEAR>EVENT
So for example in my 2012 folder i will have many sub folders with all the events of that year for example '27th feb my birthday'.
Within that folder i will have all the pics and videos that were taken of that event.
I used to use windows until few weeks ago. Becuase i couldn't find any suitable program i just used the standard explorer to view and navigate my photos/videos.
But now i have a mac i want to use iphoto especially due to syncing capability with the iphone.
i have made folders in iphoto (2009/2010/2011 etc) then within those folders i have albums for each event in that year.
i assume that when an event happens (night out, birthday etc) most people will end up with a collection of photos AND videos from that event. Now obviously i know this is called iphoto, but surely it makes sense to be able to see both photos and videos in the same app? if you are showing someone the pics from say your sons 1st birthday, do you open iphoto to show the pics then open a different application to then show the videos that may have been taken as well? surely that doesn't make much sense, it makes much more sense to have 1 universal application for your albums which contain both the photos and videos of that event.
Any ideas?

sorry i think you misunderstood what i was said:
i have tried apples built in facility to encode the file into a format imovie can read, and it converts the video but theres no sound. i have done a search and found many people with this same issue, and as with these sorts of things you can get lost in a maze trying to look for an answer.
my point is simple, i cant be bothered going down that route as i have better things to do in my time, it makes no sense when there is a very simple answer: use an alternative video encoder. i wasn't asking anyone to give me the solution to make apples encoder work because i can't be bothered to work it out myself, i was asking if anyone can recommend any good free encoding apps i could use instead. again i can go and find them myself but whole point of this forum is to get experiances from other people and see what others recommend as they would already have tried it themselves and would know if its good or not.

Trouble synching Photo Album with 1600+ photos and videos

I have a very big album with over 1600 pics and videos. At some point after 1200 or so, I started getting error messages when trying to synch my photos to my computer. I am terrified to loose my pictures and want them on my phone at all times (they represent a video journal of my now year old twins since they were born). Does anyone have any idea of how I can continue to synch them with my computer without having to erase them from my phone?

Photos/videos in your iPhone's Camera Roll should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. This is an import process, not a sync process.
With every other digital camera I've used and imported photos and/or video from, I've always deleted the photos and/or video from the digital camera after the import process is complete.
After doing the same with your iPhone, you can transfer selected photos and video back to your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process - creating separate albums by month for example for the 1600 photos and videos. Keeping your iPhone's Camera Roll to a minimum will speed up your iPhone's backup process - which is updated by iTunes as the first step during the sync process.
With iPhoto on my Mac when importing photos from my iPhone or from any digital camera, Events are created automatically based on the date the photos were taken. An Event is created for all photos captured on a particular day with an option to split a single Event into multiple Events. I can also create albums for select photos with an option to transfer selected iPhoto albums and/or Events to my iPhone keeping photos organized by Event and/or by Album as I prefer on my computer which is also reflected with the Events and/or Albums I've selected to be transferred to my iPhone.

The new Photos app in OS X should address much of this - it greatly simplifies syncing stuff across machines. Apple has details on it up here:

The new ios version of iPhoto allows sharing. Here's a blurb from Apple's web site:

I have not used ios version of iPhoto to share "journals" and I'm not sure this is part of iCloud or not. You'll have to do a google search on "ios iphoto" and read up of this journal thing. As far as I know, this is the only way of sharing photos. I'm not sure whether other friends use a browser to view these journals or whether they need something special. Any way - search around to find answers.

Mobil photos album in Photoshop Elements 12 show up in Revel albums with titles but are blank. No photos!

I am using Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer for Mac. I have moved several local albums to the mobil albums area in the left panel of the Org
anizer screen. I am signed in to Revel. The albums with titles show up in Revel, but they are empty. None of the photos show up. I can see the photos in the library section of Revel, but not in the album view. Also, when I try to share the albums with Album Web Share, the link that is generated takes me to the album webpage where I see a message "There are no photos or videos in this album".
Why are the albums coming up blank! What have I down wrong?? I can see the photos in the albums in the Photoshop Organizer window, but nothing in the Revel albums.

60G video iPod with +15G free can't see iPhoto albums, -50 error

Everything had been running smoothly in my 60G video iPod with photos and videos and music. With more than 15G free on my iPod, space isn't an issue. For reference, I have iPhoto 6 and iTunes 6, both completely updated (as is QuickTime). I've deleted the iPod photo cache on the hard drive. And, because of a previous iPhoto problem, I've rebuilt my system from the hard drive up recently.
Here's the problem: I don't know why iTunes "suddenly" can't see the iPhoto albums. It can see the iPhoto library, but won't let me select specific albums. I don't want all my photos on my iPod, plus it's a +30G photo library so it wouldn't all fit anyway. All I know about what happened right before this problem is, and I quote:
Q: "What happened?"
A: "That beachball thing spun for like 5 minutes so I restarted."
Q: "What application were you using at the time?"
A: "Who knows?"
(To which I'm desperately thinking "Count to 10, you're the adult...count to 10, you're the adult...")
In hunting around on my hard drive, I can also see that there are a bunch of random gifs and jpegs in the Pictures folder. It looks like the Apple website blew up, piece by piece (a gif for each tab across the top, for example) along with some widgets and something I don't recognize.
After deleting my iPod photo cache, I could get iTunes to start updating the iPod again, but now it doesn't see anything but the whole iPhoto library. I tried selecting the whole library, but I got the -50 error again (can't update, error unknown). I use the iPod extensively as a traveling photo album, and now (because I deleted the iPod photo cache I assume) I don't have ANY pictures.

Adding new photographs to my Library seems to have sorted the problem out. So if anyone else has this problem, a holiday to Amsterdam is the cure

Album photo/video widget not supported by Other launchers?

Hi,
I seemed to notice that the album photo/video widget is not supported by other launchers(e.g. I use Nova Launcher). Walkman widget recently was supported and I can add the widget even I use other launcher(this was not possible before in JB 4.1.2). Does anyone have any idea on this issue or is this a valid concern or not?

It's currently not possible to use our photos and videos widget on a 3:rd party launcher. We added this for Walkman with the latest update for the Walkman app but i don't know when/if it will be supported by Album.

Photos I take with my iPad are not appearing in any album in my photos!

When I first had the iPad the photos I took with it were saved to the cameras roll album. Now they don't seem to be saved anywhere. I can't see anything in the settings or user guide that helps? Any ideas anyone please?

If you have a computer, you can import the photos to the computer and then delete them for the iPad. You don't even need iTunes to so this, because you aren't syncing, you are importing.
