Family Plan Talk/Text 700 min + unl text $30 - change to Family Loyalty 550? Emply. Disc.

Hey guys -
I'm currently on the Talk and Text Nationwide plan with 2 lines and 700 minutes + $30 for Unlimited textings. I also have unlimited data on both lines.
I was going to get $10 for 1,000 text on one line.
I have a 22% employee discount thru work.
BUT
I'm thinking of switching to the 550 family loyalty plan. Apparently, this way I can get unlimited texting on one line for $20.
I was wondering how this will change pricing wise? Would it be worth it or change too much?

There's no discount on text plans correct? it would have to be talk & text?
Actually, this is what I've worked out, is this correct:
Just talk
550 min loyal          $60 (22% OFF = 47)
+20 U/L txt          $67                    -- no discount txt
Talk & Txt (unl txt):
700 min                    $100 (22% off = $80)
+u/l                              $80
Just talk:
700 min                    $70 (22% off = 54)
+10 1,000 txt          $80                    $64 - no discount
+20 unl txt          $90                    $74 - no discount
Talk 1400 + 10 f&f
1400 min f&f    $90                    $70 w/discount
+10 1,000 txt                              $80
$20 u/l txt                              $90

  • Cheapest way to add a line, family plan or 2nd line?

One more post & then I will shut up. Being that Im new to Verizon & a person who doesn't want to spend more on my cell phone bill then my car payment, can you give me a realistic quote on what my cell phone bill will be if I were to add a line or get a family plan?  I was informed by Verizon that my bill was going to be x amount of dollars & I get the bill & its way higher then I ever thought it would be, so basically for 1 phone, the droid, Im paying $120.00 per month, & was informed my bill after taxes would be around $100.00? Needless to say I now wish to get a 2nd line added, as my 16 year old son needs a phone. I was told by verizon that I would have to keep the phone that I bought as the main phone for my account, which was fine as this would be the phone that I was going to give to my son. Then I asked if I could dump the data plan on the main phone, I was told no by verizon, ugh. Basically can someone give me some advise on how to go about making it as cheap as possible for me to have 2 phones both with data plans? Family plan or add a 2nd line?

It will depend on what the second line is. If you are going to get the other Droid you mention in your other post, you would add it under a family plan, but with Verizon data is not combined in a family plan. Each phone would have its own data plan.
Since one is a Droid that is $29.99/month for data and if you get the 2nd Droid, that is an add'l $29.99/month for that phone.
Will you have text added also to both? That can be done through  combined  addon. Go here to determine your appoximate cost BEFORE taxes and fees and such.
Also, your first month bill is ALWAYS higher due to the proration of the current month you are in. Basically the first bill covers the line fees for NEXT month and whatever days are left in the billing period for the month you began service.

  • Break Up- removing family plan--costly??

Hey folks, first post here- i appreciate in advance anyone reading this and or helping me figure this out
so-- my and the fiance are splittin in a few days, her plus both of her parents are on my account- as a family plan--we both have data plans plus her dad does- three data plans total
the contract is not up for at least 6 more months-
how can i minimize any default/early cancellation charges
what if all three of them started a new family plan- or they keep mine and i start a new one--
this is one of those ancillary things about a breakup that isnt always thought about right away--
so-- any advice would be appreciated
    thanks

thanks for the prompt reply Mr. d-g,
no, we're totally splitting amicably, and her parents are beyond honest and cool.
i understand about them doing the AOL,
but when you say i need to get a new individual plan, does this mean i lose my unlimited data like i have now?
    i hope not.
    thanks again for any help
You *shouldn't* but there have been reports of people losing it by doing an AOL. Technically, you should be able to keep it. So, I would ask the rep you speak with multiple times just to make sure you can keep it.

  • Leaving one Family Plan to start a new one?

    Here is my situation:
I am currently in a Family Plan with my parents and brother.  I am eligible for my 20-month upgrade this month and plan on upgrading to an iPhone.  My fiancee currently has an iPhone with AT&T and her contract is up next July, at which point she would like to switch to Verizon and get on a new Family Plan with me (just the two of us).  It is important that we both keep our current phone numbers through all of this.
My question is:  if I upgrade now and stay on my parents' Family Plan, will I incur any additional fees for leaving that Family Plan next July and starting a new Family Plan with my fiancee?  Is doing this even possible?
Or would the better route be to leave my parents' Family Plan now, starting my own single-line plan, and then next July changing my single-line plan to a Family Plan and adding my fiancee?
I hope this makes sense... I have searched the message boards and support pages and can't seem to find answers to my questions, or anyone else with the same situation.
    Thanks,
    Dave

you should not have any fees, but depending on your credit a deposit may be required

in order to keep your number and start your own single line plan you would do an assumption of liability (AOL).
the phone number and contract would become yours.
what can happen, is since the phone is currently in one name nad going to another name you lose your warranty.
so it may be better to do it before you upgrade.

  • 1 Family Plan, 2 Area Codes

    Question:
Any advice or idea on how to get different area codes ported into one family plan?
    Scenario:
Two people want to join one family account (iPhones, AT&T) and port their existing numbers over. She has an ABC area code number and he has an XYZ area code number. Now, they both live in the OMG area code, but want to keep their numbers (strange, I know!). The family account is created and activated successfully. The ABC area code number is ported and the new billing and residence address is in the OMG area code.
    Problem:
The XYZ number cannot join the Family plan, because AT&T's billing system requires that all numbers on one family plan are in the same market (=general metropolitan area). According to 6 out of 10 AT&T Wireless representatives, the aforementioned Family plan can now only accommodate area codes within the vicinity of ABC, regardless of the plan's registration in the OMG area code, which is actually located adjacent to the XYZ area code.
    Thoughts:
This market billing problem seems to be particular to the one service provider chosen by Apple for the iPhone. Apparently, the scenario described above already overcame a similar, but lesser problem outlined at ( http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/07/06/30/howto_port_ineligible_mobile_numbers_to_att_andiphone.html ).
Is this really so unlikely to happen that it is not worth to change AT&T's policy and/or processing systems? Is it worth it to pay more per minute on two individual accounts for a phone that is already almost as common as a RAZR? Is it worth it to lose a long-held mobile number for a phone whose price may soon drop again, from a company that is about as faithful to its existing customers as Paris Hilton?
While its features may have been enough to prompt the iPhones' purchase, account inconvenience may quickly prompt a return, unless there is a way to have multiple area codes on one family plan.

I think it depends if OMG, XYZ and ABC are all the same market. My husband and I share a family plan but I'm ABC area code and he's XYZ but both our area codes fall in the XYZ market. We actually live in OMG area code now and had to go back to XYZ in order to merge our plans into a family plan.

  • How do i separate from a family plan

    Hello,
As it normally happens, my girlfriend and I broke up and are on a family plan. She's the primary account holder on a family plan and I want to get my own plan. What would be the proper way to go about getting my own line and would I have to pay a cancellation fee?

If she is the primary account holder, she's the one stuck with the plan.  So...depending on your breakup, you keep her get stuck with the early termination fee.  However, she can claim that you died (trust me..it works) and then get you off her plan.
You can always start your own plan.

  • Add an iphone initiate family plan

I have iphone and on an individual plan with att. I recently purchased an iphone for my husband. He will have to switch from another provider. I now want to switch to family plan. Any idea how to do this? What is definition of 'family'? Can there be different last names and addresses? I already know about the shared area code restriction.

Vijaya, Family plan is a bunch of phone lines on one account, doesn't matter what last names the individual phone user have. you can have anybodies phone listed in your family plan unless they are in the same network.i think family plan for 2 lines is 79.99 which i have with my wife.

Great Advice given earlier by SuzyQ   - I believe the question not asked of you is ---what do you want to pay for the services that you need.  I think that it would narrow the groups suggestions if you could narrow your needs.
For example: I need talk and text on 4 phones and some data say, 2 Gig, on only one of the phones. what plan is the best cost for me? You may also need to ask what the cost may be to switch to a different plan. I suspect that there will be no cost within Verizon-but ask anyway.
I do not think that you can have a smart phone on any Verizon plan unless you agree to buy data for that phone. Also, you said that wifi is often available-however, I do not believe that Verizon allows talking over wifi without consuming airtime minutes-only data over wifi avoids your allowance to be impacted.
As most here already know, several other service providers offer wifi-friendly service (talk/text/data) that will provide  home/business/restaurant service without impacting your allowance- just not here.
After getting some suggestions here, call 611 and confirm availibility and price.
Best of luck in your research.

  • If I have a Family Plan, Do I need a texting bundle?

If I have a family plan with my parent's. Do I really need to buy the $20/mo Unlimited Texting Plan? Since it says in the plan that Text, Pix & Flix are included in the plan. Is it absolutely neccasary? Thank you

What family plan are you currently on?  The "Talk" plans do not include text messaging, so if you want to text cheaply, you'll need to buy a package if you on the "Talk" plan.
On the other hand, a "Talk and Text" plan includes unlimited texting for every line on the family plan, so you would not need to buy the texting package.

Thank you for reaching out to us, labrylao4. Regarding the issues with messaging, is this affecting only SMS, iMessages, or both? When you or her try to send each other messages, do you receive any error messages while it is sending? If it is for iMessages, have you tried to send while connected to WiFi?

As far as I know there is no US cell carrier that allows pay as you go with an iPhone. You can purchase an unlocked iPhone 4S at an Apple Store and try it with a non-supported carrier.

  • Iphone with existing unlimited texting family plan

Hi, I just got an iPhone today butt ATT has given me two different answers about my question:
I am on a family plan with 3 other family members. We have the 30 dollar unlimited text messaging that covers everyone. I was told by two people at ATT that if I picked the 20 dollar data pack for my iphone, even though it says I'll only get 200 sms texts a month, since we have unlimited texting on the family plan, the unlimited texting will override the 200 texts a month that the iphone offers.
I was also told by one person that this is not correct.. that the 20 dollars of 200 texts message will replace the unlimited texting (for only my line) that my family has.
ATT is closed right now so if anyone could give me some feedback asap I would be very happy! Thanks!

Yea, but isn't the data plan for the iPhone, iPhone specific. You know, so we can get our visual voicemail and things like that. I mean if it wasn't that way, then why would they make you have to buy it. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong.
Ok, so you have unlimited testing for all the lines on your plan. Ok I got a little confused then, sorry about the date refrences.. I think though that what your saying about the number of texts will be correct. The rest of the lines on your plan will still have unlimited texts, but you'll be reduced to the 200 limit. You'll not have the Unlimited data as well, which is good if you surf the net a lot of the iPhone.

  • Best Text Package for Family Plan

I recently added the 250 text to my phone on a family plan with three phones. We would like to add the same package to another line on the plan - is there a better way to do it then paying $10 extra  month for just the two phones? The third user doesn't need texting but wouldn't mind having it if it were possible but just not worth it to pay extra for. help!

Thank you to the Community for all the good feedback and suggestions!

  • Family plan texting

Do texts between two lines on the same family plan count toward each text package or are they not counted?

depends on what plan you have if you have the 250 msg it does count toward your allowance but if you have 500 it has unlimited mobile to mobile

  • Have unlimited plan but IM getting charged per text

Hello for what ever reason I have unlimited m2m texting  on my Verizon plan which I signed up for. Then I apparently have a regular pay as you go plan which doesn't make sense to me sense IM getting charged about $100 in overages. Now if any one can tell me why IM paying for unlimited mobile to mobile but imgetting charged as if i dont i would be very thankful.

Unlimited mobile to mobile only covers texts sent to other Verizon cell phones.  What texting plan do you have exactly?  Some of them give you an allowance of "out of network" messages, along with the unlimited mobile to mobile, meaning that if you send more than your allowance to phones on other networks, you would be charge the per message overage rate.
You probably just need to move to a Talk & Text plan (with unlimited texting to anyone) for $20/month more (or $30 more if you're on a Family plan, but that covers every line on the plan).
