Family share purchase approval

Son "A" wants to get an app.  I get the "approve or decline" message and when I approve I'm asked to enter son "B" iCloud password.  Both of my sons are under 13.  Why in the world would it be asking me this??

Open iTunes.
Click iTunes Store.
Near the top right of the iTunes window, click your Apple ID and select "Family Purchases" from the drop-down menu.
To see the purchases from other family members, click the Apple ID drop down that appears next to "Purchased" section of the window (top left area), and select each member you who's purchases you wish to see.
This drop down menu mentioned in step 4 has multiple search options for purchases, including films, apps, and music.  If you compare this list with your email receipts you will be able to see who purchased what.  On the Apple website it does back this up with...
"If you use Family Sharing, you won't see all family member purchases in one purchase history. The family organizer can check email receipts for purchases initiated by other family members"

  • Family share purchase approval not working

We've set up family sharing across 4 iOS devices.  two parents, two children, we've enabled "ask to buy" on the child accounts (ages 13 and 14).  All devices are running the latest version of iOS.  We've set up a credit card for the family organizer.
When one of the children tries to buy something in iTunes or in the App store, they get a message that says that they need to verify their payment info.  If they click on "verify" they get asked to provide a method of payment.  They cannot make purchases using the family organizer's credit card.  I entered the credit card info, and now they are able to make purchases without any approval.
I went into settings on the child phone, pulled up iCloud, and it shows that the organizer's credit card is associated with this family group.
What am I doing wrong?  How do I allow the child accounts to use the family share credit card?

I believe the credit would have to be on his iTunes store account, not yours, in order to be applied to his purchases before any balance due is charged to the organizer's credit card.  Your purchases would be charged to your credit first.

  • Family share purchase not applied toward itunes gift card credit

I'm using the icloud family share program for my family.  My son has purchased some songs on itunes but my credit card is being billed instead of the credit balance I have on my shared itunes account.  Has anyone else had this same problem and how did you resolve it?

I believe the credit would have to be on his iTunes store account, not yours, in order to be applied to his purchases before any balance due is charged to the organizer's credit card.  Your purchases would be charged to your credit first.

  • Do Family Share purchase receipts show who initiated the purchase?p

IF I am the family organizer, do the receipts for purchases made by others indicate who made those purchases?

I spent last night testing out a few things and seem to have everything up and running correctly.  Here's how I have set up family sharing.
    1) Parent has Owner account with credit card info.  Uses "original" AppStore account (Apple ID) for purchases - call this account "A"
    2) Invite kids to join family from Account A - Make sure to turn on Ask to Buy.
    3) Kids Accept from their iDevices the invite while logged in to their Apple ID account - call these Accounts "B" and "C"
    4) When kids accept and set up their AppStore ID on their device and follow the setup they use their Apple ID ("B" and "C") not the Owner account "A"
    5) Test with a purchase from the kids device. This purchase can be a free item.
    6) A pop up notification will show stating that permission must be granted
    7) Owner iDevice receives notification and can now accept or decline the purchase.  This notification shows up in the Notification section iDevice.
Where I went wrong originally is that I had the kids family share AppStore ID as the Owner account A apple Id although they accepted and where logged in with their Apple ID B and C.  Why did I have it this way - I have always purchased everything from the Owner ID for all of our devices and kept my contacts, mail, messages etc. separate by using a second Apple ID for the Owner's private items.
Hope this helps to fix your issues.

  • Family share purchase request

When my daughter goes to the App Store and requests a purchase the alert comes to my iPad. How can I get it to also come to my phone?

I am having exactly this problem too. I approved 7 requests for songs as normal, and then for the next ones, every time I pressed "details" the box just disappeared. They are still in my notifications centre, but I cannot approve them. Please help!

  • ITunes credit not used when making family share purchase

The stated purchase rules from the Apple website are:
    Making purchases
After you set up your family, any time a family member initiates a new purchase it will be billed directly to your account unless that family member has gift or store credit. First, their store credit will be used to pay the partial or total bill. The remainder will bill to the family organizer's card. As the family organizer, any receipts generated by the transaction will be sent to you.
It clearly states that store credit will be used first.   When my daughter made a song purchase on 20 Nov 2014, my credit card was charged despite my daughters $50+ dollar credit balance in iTunes.
    Any thoughts?

I believe the credit would have to be on his iTunes store account, not yours, in order to be applied to his purchases before any balance due is charged to the organizer's credit card.  Your purchases would be charged to your credit first.

  • Can my family share purchased music from iTunes

We all have our own accounts with iTunes but it seems stupid that have to buy the songs 4 or 5 times.
If I was to go out and buy a CD and import it, we could all use it.
Is there a way that I can buy music from iTunes and my family can use it? Or the other way round?

Sure.  Put all of the music on overyones computer and authorize all of the computers for all of the accounts.

  • Family Share child purchases surprise!!

So I setup family share for my wife and kids. My 13 year old is all setup with her AppleId and has to ask for purchases off my main account. (App Store is logged in using her Apple ID - no cc)
When she tried to update her apps she was prompt with a notice stating all free apps will be copied to her Apple ID now.. Sure,, makes sense they are free.
For every free app she tried updating and copy to her Apple ID I had to authorize it and enter my password every time. (32 times to be exact! Quite annoying)
All previous apps I made with my Apple ID (which I'm now sharing with my family) she got no prompt and didn't have to ask permission. Weird...
So now the big test came up! Time to try buying an actual app! She picked an app and clicked on buy. She got a prompt stating she needed to ask permission. So she did,,, I got my prompt asking to approve the purchase on my credit card.
Well.. To my surprise.. The purchase ends up being linked to HER AppleId. She bought that app with my approval and my credit card....whattttt? I thought ALL purchases were still going to end up on MY AppleID... This is not at all how I thought this would work... If she disconnects from Family Share I don't have access to that app anymore...even though I bought it. I'd have to purchase it again.....
There really needs to be better documentation on how all of this works and some advanced options settings so that all family share purchases stay on the main AppleID Of whoever paid for it.
I think I'll set the AppStore Apple Id on all my kids devices to mine like I had it setup before ios8. That way all purchases will remain on my AppleId

    Hi there oobeto,
From what you describe it sounds like you may need to invite the 3rd account to join Family Sharing. This section of the following article should help you out:
Start or join a family group using Family Sharing
Invite people to join your family
Use these steps in iOS 8:
Go to Settings > iCloud > Family > Add Family Member.
Enter your family member's name or email address.
Follow the onscreen instructions. After you send the invitation, you can check its status under the person's name in Settings > iCloud > Family.
Use these steps in OS X Yosemite:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click iCloud.
    Click Manage Family.
Click +, then follow the onscreen instructions.
You can also use these steps to create an Apple ID for a child and add them to your family group. When you create an account for a child, you must use a credit card as the payment method as part of providing your parental consent. After you create the child's Apple ID, you can change your payment method back to a debit card if you choose.
    Join a family group
You can accept or decline an invitation to join a family from you iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac. If the invitation is sent to your email address, you can also respond right from your email. To accept an invitation in iOS 8, go to Settings > iCloud > Invitations. In OS X Yosemite, choose Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud > Manage Family.  Then follow the onscreen instructions.
Here's what you'll be asked to do when you join:
Confirm your Apple ID and password.
Choose if you want to share your content and which iTunes Store account you want to share from.
Choose if you want to share your location. If you agree, your location can be displayed on family members’ devices in Find My Friends and Messages, and the location of your shared devices will also appear on family members’ devices in Find My iPhone.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,
    Sterling

  • How to get Star Wars Rebels in-app purchase to transfer to children's Family Share account?

My wife downloaded the Star Wars Rebels game to her iphone and to the kids ipod/iphone with a different apple id.  We then purchased the full version from inside the app for $5.00.  I deleted the version on the kids phone, and went through the family share purchases in itunes to download the version that my wife had.  The game works but is limited because it is still telling us that we need to buy it.
How do I get the in-app purchases to transfer to my kids (family share) account.
Yes I tried the restore purchases button in the app already with no success.

    Hi, Matt.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are running into an scenario where an in-app purchase will not show on a Family Sharing device.  At this time, in-app purchases are not able to be shared via Family Sharing.  I did verify that the Star Wars Rebels app is able to be shared, but the Content Packs offered with this app are in-app purchases.  If you wish to access the Content Pack on another device, you would need to purchase it on that device.
There are a few things that you can't share:
Songs added to iTunes Match from outside the iTunes Store
    In-App Purchases
Items that are no longer available on the iTunes Store
    Items that were hidden
    Apps that aren't shareable
Which purchased content can I share using Family Sharing
    Cheers,
    Jason H.

  • Approve purchases- family share with android phone

Our kids have iPods and we have iPads as well.  Our mobile phones are Android based.  I set upfamily sharebut would like to have the ability to approve or decline purchase requests using my android phone.  I know that there isiCloud for Windows but haven't seen anything for Android.  Does anyone know of a way to approve or deny purchases using an Android phone?  Thanks for any help!

According to this site (http://www.bgr.com/2010/11/06/verizon-wireless-testing-sprint-like-70-450-minute-unlimited-plan/), Verizon is coming out with a Family Share Plan with unlimited data & text and 1400 minutes of shared talk time for $139.99 a month.
This is $10 a month higher then Sprint and has 100 fewer shared minutes. It also includes GPS Navigation, Sprint TV and Radio, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile which isn't available with Version. I think Verzon has a navigation and video service but they charge for it.

  • How do i approve my kids app purchases with family share

how do i approve my kids app purchases with family share on my iphone?

    Hello andrewmarkp,
With Family Sharing, you can approve purchases with the Ask To Buy feature. The following article provides helpful information:
Family purchases and payments - Apple Support
Approving purchases with Ask to Buy
You can turn on Ask to Buy to require approval for purchases initiated by any family member who is under 18 years old.*
    iOS 8
Tap Settings > iCloud > Family, and tap your family member's name.
    Turn on Ask to Buy.
    OS X Yosemite
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud.
Click Manage Family and select your family member's name.
    Select Ask to Buy.
Ask to Buy is enabled by default for any children under 13 years old, and can be enabled during the setup process for any children 13-17 years old.* You can't turn on Ask to Buy for adults.
If you don't wish to be billed for purchases initiated by a specific adult family member, you can remove that family member from the family group.
*Ages may vary by country or region.
Family Sharing requires a personal Apple ID signed in to iCloud and iTunes. Music, movies, TV shows, and books can be downloaded on up to 10 devices per account, five of which can be computers. iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite are required to set up or join a Family Sharing group and are recommended for full functionality. Not all content is eligible for Family Sharing. Content can be hidden by family members; hidden content is not available for download. Content downloaded from family members or acquired via redemption codes is not subject to Ask to Buy.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

  • How do I approve an 'ask to buy' on a family share

How do I find my 'notifications' to approve an 'Ask to buy' from my daughter's profile?

    Hello Shaynn,
If you are the organizer of the Family Share you should see the Ask to Buy request in the Notification Center.
Request and make purchases with Ask to Buy - Apple Support
    Make or decline a purchase
If you're the organizer, you can use these steps to make or decline the purchase from your iOS device with iOS 8 or Mac with OS X Yosemite:
Open the notification to see the item that your family member wants to get. (See your notifications on your Mac or iOS device.)
    Approve or decline the purchase.
If you approve, you need to sign in with your Apple ID and password to make the purchase.
After it's purchased, the item is added to the family member’s account and shared with the rest of the family group. If a family member downloads a previous purchase again, downloads a shared purchase, installs an update, or uses a redemption code in the store, the organizer won't get a notification.
If the organizer doesn't make the purchase or decline the request, it will be deleted after 24 hours, and the child will need to make the request again.
So if you are on your iPhone…
You can access Notification Center from any screen, including the Lock screen. Just swipe down from the top of the screen.

  • Are in-app purchases also monitored using Family Share?

If I set up Family Share, I know that it will allow me to approve (or disapprove) of app purchases that my son wants to make. My question is, will IN-app purchases also require my permission/approval? Thats what I'm looking for
My son has been going crazy with in-app purchases and I'm looking for a way to control and oversee what he spends.

Not all apps are available as shared purchases.  It is up to the developer.  In App purchases are NOT sharable.  Neither are subscriptions.

  • Family Share Organizer Can't Approve?

I know there's probably an easy solution here...
    I'm the Family Share Organizer
My wife is labeled as Parent/Guardian (under her account the Parent/Guardian toggle is on, mine does not have that toggle)
My three daughters are set up as children with Ask To Buy turned on.
When we try and make a purchase on our daughters' devices, it only asks my wife for permission, not me as the organizer.  Is there a way to ALSO have me (the organizer) flagged as a Parent/Guardian approve?  Seems odd that despite me being the family organizer if my wife is not home I can't approve one of my kids' purchases...
    Thanks for any help.

My family sharing is set up just like yours (three sons instead of daughters LOL). I'm labeled the organizer and do not have a toggle for parent/guardian. However, when they ask to buy we both get a notification.  I rarely accept them, since my husband has his phone more accessible at all times. The few times I've noticed the requests come in, I find that sometimes I can't  find the notification again.
On a side note: I was not aware that each purchase would be billed to my credit card regardless of my iTunes balance. I knew I would be paying for all purchases, but not being able to use my account balance to pay it is extremely annoying. Prior to Family Sharing being available all their devices were under my id. So any gift cards they received were redeemed under my account. Now I have their money and can't use it to buy their things.

  • Family share and non itunes purchased music

My wife and I are going to get an ipad mini for the house that we will use for a lot of music storage and entertainment for the house. We have a TON of cd's we purchased back in the day. If I load those into my iTunes, will my wife be able to access that music using family share? Or can you only access music that was purchased? She wants to be able to get that music on her phone.
    Thanks!

Okay, so I did as you said, and tried to remove all music from my iphone, and nothing changed on the phone.  The unplayable music and playlists all still show up and the purchased music is still playable and on the phone despite removing it all.
I just now told it to not sync any music at all (unchecked the larger sync music tab) and for some reason it repeatedly re-checked itself.  After 7 or so attempts I got it to only put on 10 songs (idk why any or even why these particular are on)  but now I'm going to try re-adding songs back on.
YESSSSSSS! IT WORKED!!! GAWAAHAHA FINALLY, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
