Family sharing calendar not created

i have set up Family Sharing for two family members and myself.  They accepted my invitatioms and everything appears to be working properly, but a shared calendar wasn't created 'automatically' as promised.  The shard photo album was created and I have already approved two app purchases for my son, but am not sure what to do about the calendar.  Any help would be appreciated.

I had this problem but my iCloud calendars were turned on.
Tried lots of stuff but finally powered down and restarted the device and it showed up just fine.

  • Family Sharing Calendar not "sharing" events among family members

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone has a similar issue and can shed some light.
I've setup a Family with myself as the organizer.
We have 2 iMacs, 1 MacBook Pro, 3 iPhones, and 3 iPads used by my three family members.
The "Family" calendar now shows up on all devices but events made on a single device are not showing on any of the other devices.
I've read all I can find and it appears to me that the "Family" shared calendar should sync across all family members without the need to "share" the calendar as we did in the past.
Can anyone confirm that is the case?
As a quick fix I simply "shared" the Family calendar (using email address's of the family members) and it is working, but this is essentially the same way we used to share a calendar.  Just doesn't seem to make sense to me.
Thanks in advance for any insight!
    Jim

I am having the same problem. I have done some testing and have found the following:
If I create an event in the Family Calendar on my Mac it shares it with all devices; however, if I create a new event in the Family Calendar on any of my iOS devices it doesn't share with any of my devices including my Mac. This has only been an issue since I upgraded to iOS 8.1.
I hope someone can help clarify if this truly is an iOS 8.1 issue and when they might come out with another update. This is a big problem for families trying to stay up-to-date with each others schedules.
    Thanks.

  • Family shared calendar events not showing in Today pull-down

    iPhone 5s
    IOS 8.0.2
When I pull down the Today/Notification screen, the calendar section will not show any events that are entered in the Family Shared calendar. Calendar events in other calendars show up fine. Is this a configurable option?

I should fix a mistake in the original post. Where I said, "And when tomorrow comes around, those events don't show in the Calendar app," it should be, "And when tomorrow comes around, those events don't show in the Calendar section of notification centre."

  • Family sharing calendar missing

We are using family sharing. My daughters iPhone 5 is missing the family sharing calendar. She is on her own Apple id and is updated to the latest OS. when I look at the calendar app, the family calendar is not an option. She is set up on a child account but restrictions are not enabled in her phone. any help is appreciated.

    Hello Jacqui L Davies,
It sounds like you may need to change the settings for access to the Family Calendar.  See if this section of the iPad User Guide applies to your situation:
Share iCloud calendars - iPad User Guide
    http://help.apple.com/ipad/8/#/iPadc2a14a22
    Share iCloud calendars
With Family Sharing, a calendar shared with all the members of your family is created automatically. See Family Sharing. You can also share an iCloud calendar with other iCloud users. When you share a calendar, others can see it, and you can let them add or change events. You can also share a read-only version that anyone can view.
Create an iCloud calendar. Tap Calendars, tap Edit, then tap Add Calendar in the iCloud section.
Share an iCloud calendar. Tap Calendars, tap Edit, then tap the iCloud calendar you want to share. Tap Add Person, then enter a name, or tap to browse your Contacts. Those you invite receive an email invitation to join the calendar, but they need an iCloud account in order to accept.
Change a person’s access to a shared calendar. Tap Calendars, tap Edit, tap the shared calendar, then tap the person. You can turn off their ability to edit the calendar, resend the invitation to join the calendar, or stop sharing the calendar with them.
Turn off notifications for shared calendars. When someone modifies a shared calendar, you’re notified of the change. To turn off notifications for shared calendars, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Shared Calendar Alerts.
Share a read-only calendar with anyone. Tap Calendars, tap Edit, then tap the iCloud calendar you want to share. Turn on Public Calendar, then tap Share Link to copy or send the URL for your calendar. Anyone can use the URL to subscribe to the calendar using a compatible app.
    Hope that helps ...

  • How do i show Family sharing calendar in outlook?

i have the icloud add-in installed and i can see my personal calendar, but i would like to see the Family shared calendar as well. is this possible?

thanks for your reply Jeff, however this does not solve my problem.
The Family calendar is automatically created when you nable Family Sharing, as such seems to act differently from a normal calendar. i can see it on all devices and icloud.com but it is not included in Outlook when using the iCloud app for PC.

  • How to publish a family shared calendar?

In Calendar, Apple allows users to make a calendar public and share it over the internet with a webcal address.  However, I can't seem to find this function for the Family shared calendar that is automatically created when Family Sharing is activated in iOS 8.  Is there any way to publish a Family Sharing calendar so that other people can subscribe to it?

Well, I figured a way to do this - sort of.  Note; this is NOT the most elegant solution, nor a full/real fix.  At least you will get a read only version of the Family calendar.  The caveat in this is that you require Microsoft Outlook at some point.  To make matters worse, I'm not exactly sure of the steps I took.
My basic scenario is that our family has a Mac at home along with iPhones, but I use Windows at work.  Somewhere along the line I installed iCloud for Windows at work - and I believe during that install it saw that I have Outlook installed on my machine, and sometime during that process it created a link in Outlook to my the shared Family calendar.
I am a bit vague on this because I don't actually use Outlook on a regular basis.  I was trying it out some time ago and never went further with it, and I only went to check it after I started looking into this Family calendar nonsense.  I note that now I can CREATE an event in Outlook and it will propagate back to Family Calendar and show up on our mobile device(s).
Within Outlook, if you right click on the Family Calendar and select Sharing Settings (Image 1) you will find an option to "Publish a link to a read-only version of this calendar on iCloud.com" (Image 2).  Press the Copy Link button... then use that in your other application (Google Calendar for me).
Not exactly the best solution... but until I find something else...

I'd like to use the Family calendar (created automatically when you set up family share) in Outlook but there is no option to share.

  • Making a family sharing calendar public

I am trying to sync my new Family Sharing iCloud calendar with Google Calendar, and am unable to do so.  I've been able to make my OTHER iCloud calendars sync by creating "public" links, and then using icaltogcal.com to make the links readable by Google Calendar.  however, iCloud does not allow making the "Family" calendar public, only allows sharing via email address.
Am I going to have to abandon iCloud / Family Sharing for calendar usage, and rely solely on Google Calendar?

  • Family Sharing Calendar and Mac

I Am currently using a secondary iCloud account to share a calendar between my iPad, iPhone, and Mac and my wife's ipad, iPhone, and Mac. It works great.
Will  moving to a shared calendar under Family Sharing provide anything new or better than what I have today?
I suspect that the shared calendar would not show up on our Mac's until Yosemite.
    Thanks

No, this is working fine for me.
Are you signed into iCloud on all devices? Are you creating the events in an iCloud calendar? Double check that you're not using an "on my Mac" calendar to create appointments.

  • Family sharing - how to create a separate account?

My son (4) has his own ipad, but I've always used my Apple ID to purchase apps for him. I'm trying to set up family sharing. Recently I read on Apple's website:
Kids under 13 can have an account too.
Now kids under 13 can have their own Apple IDs. As a parent or legal guardian, the family organiser creates the child’s Apple ID and adds the child to the family group. Ask to Buy is turned on by default, but the organiser can also limit the content kids have access to on their devices through Restrictions on an iOS device or parental controls in OS X and iTunes.
How can I set this up for him. As I've tried creating an Apple ID for him but I get this message You are not eligible to create an account at this time.
I'm assuming because he is under 13.
When I do eventually create an account for him, will I be able to share previously purchased apps that I have purchased before setting up his account?

Found info on how to set up account which was successful:
Age is also dependant on the country.

  • Family Sharing- Photos not showing from 1 member

We have 3 members in family sharing. The organizer, a parent/guardian, and a child. The child account was added the past 2 days. When the child member posts a photo to the family album, the organizer sees the photo, but the parent/guardian does not on either her iPhone or iPad. If the child account adds an event to the family calendar all members see the event on all devices. Photos posted by the organizer show up in the family album for the parent/guardian. It seems the problem lies only with the parent/guardian seeing the photos posted by the child.
The parent/guardian iPad is running iOS 8.2 and rebooted. Her iPhone is running iOS 7.1.2 due to lack of space restricting software updates.
    Any ideas?

Parent/guardian should try to sign out of icloud and itunes and restart device and sign back in. If that does not help I would actually try to restore one of the devices and setup as new. If that does not work, I would contact apple to check server side.

  • HT201084 Family sharing - content not available only on iPad 2

Situation:  My wife and I are trying to do family sharing with two apple ID's.  Mine as the organizer, wife as member.  Both set to "share my purchases".  Prior to this, we only had one apple ID, so the wife's is new.
My setup:  iMac, iPad Air 2, iPhone 6.  Wife:  macbook air, iPad 2, iPhone 5.
Sharing is working on all devices except music and movies/TV shows on the iPad 2.  Shared calendar and reminders are working on the iPad 2.
Have tried all the tricks in the articles, i.e. all settings seem to be correct.  Have downloaded a free app.  Have signed out and back in.  Reset the iPad as new and started over.  Nothing working.

I've used the Kindle cloud reader app (http://read.amazon.com) in the past and had problems with it, probably the same as you're getting with it not being able to store many books (and I couldn't find a way to increase it).
The 4.3 gig that you are seeing is the amount of cloud storage that you have for backups for your iTunes account i.e. how much space you have left for photos, documents etc in the cloud - that won't affect what you can store on your iPad, including in the Kindle cloud reader app.
I now just use the Kindle app from the store (I currently have about 40 books downloaded from my Amazon account into it), and I haven't had any prompts in it to use their cloud reader. Can you remember where/how the cloud reader prompt appeared ?

  • Delete family sharing calendar and photo stream

My family already has our own family calendars and photo streams. How can we delete the ones family sharing created?

Unfortunately you cannot share your photostream photos as you would like between different accounts, nor can you share iWork documents without emailing them to each other.
Whether this will change I have no idea, but if you have any suggestions that you think might enhance iCloud you can send Apple your feedback here.
As for other types of documents that will work with document and data syncing, that is already possible, Apple have provided the mechanism for other developers to make their applications work with iCloud. A few developers have already enabled their applications to work this way.

  • Family Sharing Calendar problem

I have recently set up family sharing - with 2 members being my kids. I can share the calendar set up with my daughter on her Macbook air but my son's miniIpad cannot see his calendar on his device. As the organiser, when I change something to his calendar on my desk top - it doesn't get to my son's miniipad calendar? His ipad has been set up using his appleid etc so I really don't know what I have done wrong?

I have a very similar problem - I have family sharing set up with my husband and son - my husband on an iPhone 4 of some sort, and my son and I on 5s.  I am the organizer. My husband can see my family calendar items, and I can see his, but our family items do not push through onto my son's calendar, nor items he tries to put in to ours.  He is listed as a family member on my phone, but when I go to settings on his phone it says something like 'family sharing not available.'  all phones are running iOS 8.  My son's requests for permission to buy things do come through - if I happen to be on the phone when he asks! - so he is clearly part of the family.  But he cannot download apps WE have bought onto his phone, permission or not. My husband and I seem able to share apps without problem.  What's going on, and how do we get our son fully integrated into the family sharing program?
