Family Sharing - can't accept invitation

Hi,
I'm adding my wife and 2 kids to Family Sharing. The kids worked fine, but no matter how much I try I can't add my wife.
On the iPad i go to iCloud->Family->Add Family Member. I enter my wife's email address (a hotmail account) and an invitation gets sent to her. She accepts the invite, only to be told:
"Invalid Invitation. You are already part of this family. Go back to iCloud and tap on Family to review your family settings."
I go back to iCloud and under my wife's name it simply says "Invitation sent".
I've sent her around 20 invites now and she still hasn't managed to successfully accept any of them, either from the same iPad or her iPhone. I'd be really grateful for any suggestions on how we fix this problem. It seems totally stuck!
Thanks.

no… the way to confirm is make sure in settings>messages>send and receive that all the apple ids are different in there.

Try purchasing any app with the new Apple ID first. It can be free like "Find my iPhone." Once you have a purchase established with the new Apple ID, you can use Family Sharing like it's supposed to work. You can update all the apps and download new ones from the Organizer's Purchases.
I just spent hours figuring this out. My son's ID was set to ask for permission. Once I gave it permission to buy (for free) the new app on his device, I was able to update current apps and install new ones from my purchases that I had made with my Apple ID.

I open iCloud, log in - no issues. I try to turn on Family Sharing and it just will not accept my password. The pop up asking for password just keeps coming back. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi mmbj,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  Is it possible that you have more than one Apple ID?  Are you trying to sign in to Family Sharing from an iOS device or a computer?  The first step would be to go to My Apple ID and confirm your Apple ID and password.  You can reset the password if you need to.   I'm including some general information below for your Apple ID and Family Sharing.

  • Family Sharing: Can it be used to back up multiple phones to the same iCloud account?

With the Family Sharing feature of iOS8 & Yosemite, is it possible to back up multiple iPhones automatically to one iCloud account?
My family needs a way to automatically back up their iPhones. It would get really costly and otherwise problematic to equip each of us with iCloud accounts just so we could back up our phones automatically. If Family Sharing enables us to do these automated backups to one iCloud account, then I'd go ahead and upgrade my iCloud account to the 200 GB iCloud storage allotment.
However, if I do this, does this give my 11-year-old access to my iCloud email account, contacts and other personal information? I imagine that the Family Sharing tool should be able to manage this, but I'd like to be sure.
    Thanks.

I do know that if you have separate iCloud accounts you can share with your children what you need to. I encouraged my daughter to do that for her 2 kids she bought iPads for Xmas. Instead of using her account like she had been doing with her old iPhones the kids used, she created new iCloud accounts to take advantage of the 5 gig for each account, otherwise just 2-3 devices ***** up that 5 gigs immediately.  She then set up what she wanted them to have access to, and it worked out perfectly!
I myself was thinking of doing the opposite of what you inquired about and doing what she did with her kids, but for myself. I am thinking about created a separate iCloud account then share with myself what I need to so I can gain 5 gig storage by using separate account on a couple devices.

  • ICloud Family Sharing - can't purchase apps with iTunes Credit

My wife and I previously shared the same AppleID on our phones.   When the family sharing became available, it seemed the perfect approach for what we were accomplishing.  I upgraded my wife's phone to 8.x and then moved her back to the Apple ID that I had initially created for her.  I invited her to join the family and completed that setup.
We then had some iTunes gift cards that she had received and so loaded those to her iTunes account (wife's AppeID) on her iPad.  However, when we attempt to purchase apps on her iPad, it insists on purchasing from my AppleID via my credit card rather than using the iTunes credit.
Any suggestions?  I've seen posts that iTunes credit cannot be transferred.

Nope, not actually. The only restrictions Alberta places on gift cards are the following:
    * Not allow expiry dates on gift cards, gift certificates, and vouchers that have been purchased and have monetary value
    * Eliminate inactivity fees, also called dormancy fees, that reduce the value of gift cards the longer they go unredeemed
    * Prevent businesses from not honouring gift cards for purchases that are
more or less than the value of a gift card
    * Require merchants to fully disclose any restrictions on use of a gift card on both the actual card and its packaging
To further my point, Apple definately does not abide by the last law (at least in the rest of Canada), as they say nothing on the card or its packaging about not being able to buy apps with it.

  • How can I accept invitations sent from PC's

    Hi
I was wondering how I accept invitation requests sent from PC Outlook? At the moment they just show as a line of text in my Mac mail. No attachments to accept.
I am able to accept gmail invitations.
    Thanks

You can't (only) de-authorise computers you no longer have access to.
Your only option is to de-authorise all your computers and then re-authorise those you wish to be authorised. You can do this by logging into your account settings in iTunes on your computer (Store > View My ID) and selecting the option to de-authorise all.
Please note however, you are only permitted to do this once in each 12 month period, therefore you would be better de-authorising your computers before you lose access to them. you can do this from the 'Store' menu in iTunes.

  • Family sharing: Can't approve requests since upgrading 8.1.1

Since upgrading to iOS 8.1.1 whenever I get a notification from one of the kids' devices to approve a purchase (free or not) I can't do anything.  When I tap on the notification the phone behaves as if a dialog is popping up (the status bar goes dark, and taps elsewhere on the screen are ignored) but the dialog never appears.  I see whatever I saw on my screen when I tapped the notification.  The only solution is to hit the home button and give up.  Pulling down to see the notification and tapping it again gives the same results.  Also, both requests that have failed so far are In-App purchases.  Prior to the update I don't know if I had any requests for In-App purchases or just Apps.  As such the problem could be just related to In-App requests vs. any request.
I've not yet checked to see if the kids devices are updated to 8.1.1 yet.  As a developer I was thinking about upgrading to the 8.2 preview to see if it may address this issue.

Same here. What's really strange it the following. I just recently set up family sharing, and have only received 3 requests. First time the notification of the request only turned up on my computer at work, next time only on my phone. The third time only on  my computer at home. Whenever I try to approve on any of  the computers I get stuck in a sort of loop where I enter my Apple ID. What I do is, the following. I find the notification, and click on it, get to the "info screen" where I get some info on the app and the two buttons deny and approve in the upper right corner.. I decide to approve and is prompted to enter my password, which I do. Then only thing that happens is that the dialog box disappears, taking me back to the "info screen" where I can approve but before I'm able to do anything, the dialog box prompting me  for my Apple ID comes up again. I enter the password, and so it goes until I choose "cancel" in the dialog box. I then get back to the "info screen". I've never tried to press the deny button there. The second notification that I got, the one on my phone, worked without any trouble at all. Would be nice if I could get the notification for requests number 1 and 2 (the ones I got on computer work and computer home), but I haven't found any notification on the phone for those two apps.

So, is there any possibility to work around the issue?

Currently we are not aware of any workaround for this issue. One previous report of this issue - with iCalendar 8 (Yosemite) - showed that the Calendar Server was correctly processing the event.  Given that the only thing that changed was the client software, it is recommended to open a support ticket with Apple to report this issue.

I've tried to 'join your team on Adobe Creative Cloud' with the email sent out as an invitation - but I received this message above once I clicked 'Accept Invitaion' on my laptop. The iMac - at my office is swithced off - hence Adobe Creative Cloud (ACC) is off.
For my company I just purchased Team for six seats - and as the Aministrator - I am just getting to grips with how it all works. I/we plan to work from home/at client's offices (off-site) occasionaly so it's important we all get our secondary machines up and running. I appreciate each user/seat can't run ACC simultaneously on primary/secondary Macs.
Please tell me how to set up ACC on my secondary machine (laptop)?

Moving this discussion to the Adobe Creative Cloud forum.  It is likely though that you or your Creative Cloud for Teams adminsitrator will need to contact our support team when they are open on Monday.

  • Can't set up Family Sharing...requires new payment info

I have an Apple ID and it is fully set up to bill my PayPal account for iTunes and apps purchases. I just checked PayPal and my account is in good standing.
I tried to set up Family Sharing on the Mac. I did System Preferences->iCloud->Set Up Family->Continue->Continue->Continue.
I get the dialog "Add a payment method to enable Family Sharing. Family Sharing requires a valid payment method. Add a payment method to “[email protected]” in your iTunes account." If I click Add, it throws me into Safari and show that I have a PayPal account as my Payment Type.
So, I'm completely stuck since the iCloud panel keeps asking me to set up a payment method and I already have one. I even tried reconfiguring the PayPal account as the payment method.
Is this Apple being insidious and not accepting PayPal since they are a competition to Apple Pay?
When I look at System Preferences->iCloud->Account Details I see an expired MasterCard. How do I get rid of that???

    Hi Double E,
Family Sharing can only be set up from a Mac running Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) or an iOS device such as an iPhone running iOS 8. See this article for reference -
    Family Sharing - Apple Support
So you could set up the Family Sharing from your son's iPad using your Apple ID. See this article for how to sign in with a different Apple ID -
Sign in with a different Apple ID on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Note that the  Ask to Buy feature of Family Sharing requires the person approving purchases to be using either Yosemite or iOS 8. See this article -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Family Sharing vs using single iTunes account - can I switch?

I currently have my iTunes account used on my devices, and also use it for my daughters' iTunes account on their iPods. They do not have their own iCloud account at  all at this point.
I am planning to give them their own iCloud accounts with their new iPods at Christmas, and want to make sure I understand how Family Sharing works before committing to it. Some of what I have heard about it does not seem to be any better than what I currently do with my wife - we have our own iCloud accounts, but share the same account (mine) for purchasing.
If I set up my kids (age 10) under family sharing as kids, and would rather still use my account for purchases, is that possible? I assume that I could still enter my credentials into the purchasing section of their iPods, even though they have a kids iCloud account, correct? Or does it somehow lock out the ability to do that if you have the account set up for a child?
I probably will just use the family sharing setup, with their accounts set up for purchasing, but with me approving, but I want to be sure I can still put my account in instead as well, just in case I want more "control" over what they get.
    Does anyone know?

    Has anyone tried this?
If you have a child Apple ID set up under family share, can you put in your (adult) Apple ID into their "iTunes & App Store" section on their iPod, to effectively bypass the adult consent, but require me to put in MY password for their purchases on their device?
I want to give them their own Apple ID so they are not sharing mine for data. I am not wanting to fake their ages and set up their own adult account, but not sure I want to fully embrace the apparently cludgy Family Sharing setup by Apple.
If someone has their child set up under family sharing, can you try going to their "iTunes & App Store" section, and see if it would even allow you to enter in your iCloud credentials, or if it is locked out by family share? You shouldn't have to actually submit it to see.
