  • ICloud Family Sharing - Can't share iCloud purchased storage

I recently moved my wife's phone and iPad to her own AppleID and added family sharing.   Now her iCloud backup no longer shares my iCloud backup.   I have purchased more than enough iCloud backup for multiple devices but now they want me to purchase more... argh!

  • Locate my iPhone + family sharing doesn't work anymore

    Hi everyone,
I am using Family Sharing to share my location with my wife.
Everything has worked since the release of iOS 8 so probably 4 month.
Today, I've noticed that I can't locate all of her devices (iPhone + iPad).
    What I've tried :
    - logoff / login from iCloud on both account
    - enable / disable sharing position
    - reboot iPhones
By the way she can locate me.
To be clear, I am not using "Sharing location" in the Messages App.
I am using in with Family Sharing.
Does anyone have the same problem ?
Maybe the problem is on the Apple servers ...
    Thanks.
Here is a screenshot : here

You have hardware damage to the screen and possibly other components.  Take the phone to Apple or an Apple authorized service provider.

  • Family sharing doesn't work with music

I finally switched the kids over to their own iCloud accounts and turned on Family Sharing. They've been successfully added as members and when they want an app I get an approval request. I can also view their location. That all works fine, but they can't see my shared music. I've removal and added them as family members, made sure my music is shared, etc. Nothing works. Anyone else seeing this?

Just spoke to a Senior Advisor at Apple and it turns out that family members can't see music from iTunes Match.  They can only see music purchased from the iTunes store and even then they have to download it before they can play it.  This totally ruins Family Sharing for me.  Now I have to log into my account on the kid's devices for them to see all of the music, but because the iTunes and App store logins are combined in Settings I'll effectively be disabling the whole app approval process.  I see two solutions to this issue.  First, Apple could enable the sharing of iTunes Match since I already own the music anyway and am allowed to have it on multiple devices.  Secondly, and less desirable, they could separate the iTunes and App Store logins in settings.  I'm off to disable Family Sharing...

  • With family sharing can we share just SOME music or SOME photos?

I don't want to have to accept all my husband's photos or music.  How can I just select some?

Try purchasing any app with the new Apple ID first. It can be free like "Find my iPhone." Once you have a purchase established with the new Apple ID, you can use Family Sharing like it's supposed to work. You can update all the apps and download new ones from the Organizer's Purchases.
I just spent hours figuring this out. My son's ID was set to ask for permission. Once I gave it permission to buy (for free) the new app on his device, I was able to update current apps and install new ones from my purchases that I had made with my Apple ID.

  • Sharing doesn't "share" album art.

I tried the new iTunes sharing feature. I used the import feature to bring some cds from a library on our home network to another PC's library on the same network. The songs transferred fine, but the album art didn't.
Is anyone else having this problem and is there a way to fix it?

It is not a problem in as much as it's the way it's supposed to work. Sharing has never included artwork. One assumes that it's to keep the amount of bandwidth used to a minimum. So, as it isn't technically broken, there is no way to fix it. Sorry.

  • Want to share my iCloud storage with my spouse, Family Sharing?

Wife has a maxed storage 4s can't upgrade to iO8.1.2.  We got iPhone 6 for each other, but she doesn't have icloud storage to get everything tranferred.  I have 200GB, and inititated Family Sharing.  Her storage plan has not changed from the default 5GB.  Wondering if there is something I have missed about sharing my storage, OR if I cannot do it even with Family Sharing

    Hey d2boogie,
Congratulations on getting each other new iPhones and Family Sharing. Let's see if we can get things up and running for you both.
Family Sharing does not share your iCloud storage space. What it does do is allow you to share content such as iTunes store purchases, a calendar, and a photo album. It also consolidates billing for iTunes, iBooks and App Store billing. See this article for a description -

  • Can multiple Apple IDs that are linked with Family Sharing all share one "family" iCloud photo library?

We have a family library of thousands of photos. Currently, we are using iPhoto to manage all of these photos, which  We each have our own apple ID, and each take pictures on our own devices, and have just been manually importing them all into the same library. With the new iCloud photo library, will it be possible to set up family sharing and all share and contribute to a "family" photo library?

Create Apple IDs for everyone individually and use that in Settings > Facetime, Settings > Messages, Settings > Game Center but keep the Apple ID used for app and content purchases in Settings > iTunes and App Stores

  • How do i see my wifes calendar after enabling family sharing?

    Thanks.

Enabling family sharing doesn't enable you to see your wife's calendar. It creates a shared calendar called "family," that you and she can both put events in and you'll both see them.
If you want to see HER calendar (that's different to the "family" calendar), she will need to share it with you. She can explicitly do that from within the Calendars application by showing calendars, right clicking her calendar, and entering your email address.

  • Family sharing actually is not Family but App Store sharing

I convinced my mother to purchase a brand new iPhone 6 because of the many features iOS and the whole Apple environment brings to the table. One of those features would be Family sharing.
Turns out it's not working due to a hidden restriction that Apple fails to mention in its presentation of Family Sharing - until one has bought an iPhone and hits the snag: Your family member(s) immediately aren't part of your family once they're using a different App store.
I'm frequently traveling between Europe and the US and I don't even have European credit card whereas my mother lives in Europe. Is she member of my family? Yes. Can we use Family sharing? No. The term "Family sharing" is a misnomer that lured my mother into buying a new iPhone with a now limited set of features.
We both also have recent MacBook Pros - 2012 and 2013 Retina models. Guess what, Family sharing doesn't work under OS X either.
Has it slipped Apple's mind that there are plenty of different App stores outside the US and that the current way Family sharing is implemented in both iOS and OS X will lead to plenty of disgruntled customers?
My mother has already contacted Apple regarding this issue and it looks like there is little Apple can do at the moment. I'm seriously disappointed and I have told my mother to return her phone for a refund. I have posted this in the forum because users might have ideas on how to solve (or circumvent) this problem.
    Thank you.

I haven't seen any replies, so I thought I'd raise it again to see if anyone is successfully using
Family Sharing. If so... can they describe how they set it up?
    Specifically:
Under ITunes | Family Purchases | <user>, do they correctly see the purchases for each user
Can everyone in the family see the purchases of others, even if they were made before family sharing was set up?
Do you need to authorise every device in the Family to play the music from every account?
Many thanks for any advice you can give on this.
I've also emailed apple support directly and got nothing back for a week.
    Cheers.
    Paul

  • Family sharing Apple id

I've been using one Apple id for iTunes purchase - shared by all - and one for icloud data syncing - photos, contacts, calendar etc. With family sharing is there a way now to use the main iTunes account, change the email address to the icloud one I normally use and then take advantage of family sharing? There are a couple of issues that seem to prevent this, not least that you can't change an iTunes account email to an existing iCloud email. Also I would need to export or safe a load of icloud stuff locally to then migrate to the new account. And of course family sharing doesn't have shared everything eg. Shared contacts.
in the absence of Apple still not allowing us to merge accounts, has anyone else thought about how family sharing might provide a workaround and if so how?
Even as I type, I realise this is probably not the the answer!

    Thanks for the quick reply

  • More Family Sharing Options

I have family sharing set up for my family. Ideally, what we want is to have us all share purchases with each other in the way that family sharing does, however not have ask to buy enabled. The children in the family are given credit in the form of iTunes and App Store gift cards, and we want them to be able to use this, but not have purchases come out of the credit card. Essentially, we want to have individual accounts with credit from gift cards, not have to ask to buy, but also not pull out of a credit card. We want Family Sharing only to share purchases, not to add a credit card or to restrict purchases. Is this possible?

It is not possible in the current iteration of family sharing.  If the children have credit, their purchases will come from the iTunes store credit first.  If there is not sufficient credit, then the Organizer's card will be charged.  That is how family sharing currently works.

  • Family sharing (do we have to share the same credit card and sharing working for everyone?

I was wondering if family sharing was working for anyone else? I set it up and the way I believe you access another family members purchases is by going to your purchase history either in itunes or in the app store. From there you can pick your purchases or another family members purchases but when I do this I only see my purchases. Am I doing this wrong or is it not working.
Also is there a way we all don't have to use the same credit card?
    Thank You,
    Laura

Am I correct in my first post regarding how you are suppose to access someone else's purchases? it doesn't seem to be working for me I added the other person and see accepted and when I go to family share she is there but I can't find her purchases

  • Can I share my iCloud storage with members in my Family Sharing group?

Just wondering if I can share my 200GB with my husband and sons which are on our family sharing plan?  It seems like all these additional GB should be able to be shared if we are signed in to the same family plan?  I've searched support topics and can't seem to find an answer to this....thanks!

You will not want to do that and you should just have two 5GB free accounts.
Too much risk of merging or losing data.
