Family sharing iCloud ID to synch iCal&Address Book, but do not want to share email.

Hello,
I have both mine and my wife’s iphone paired to my icloud account so we can share/synch our Address Book, iCal, Find my iPhone, etc.  Plus, we share my iTunes account, though that is under a different Apple ID.
My email address is not in her mail folder, however she gets my mail  in her ‘All Inboxes’.
How do I stop this, yet still share my iCloud features (family plan - type)?
Thx - Erik

Firstly, I've asked the hosts to edit your email from your post, it's not a good idea to post it in the open it will attract unwanted mail.
If your wife simply doesn't want your email she can turn off mail syncing in her iCloud settings.
If she wants her own me address she should have her own iCloud account, you could then add each others iCloud to your own a s a secondary account and just turn on the sync services you want.

how can I send an email to a group in my address book, but hide the individual names and email addresses?

You used to be able to do this through leaving unchecked the box in preferences "when sending to a group show all member addresses". However, that feature failed some time ago (two or three years?) and the only way to hide the addresses now is to put the group in the BCC field.

  • Contact in my Address Book, but not on my Iphone

I have contact in my Address Book that wont go to my iphone,
    I have reset my iphone,
added another directory to my Address book, but do not show in Itunes.
Put a test card on my iphone, but not added to my Address book.
I am not sure if this is an iphone problem or Itunes not syncing with my Address Book.
I have tried to delete Itunes and down load again.
Any one have an idea what else to try

To reset sync history on windows:
In itunes, click on edit at the top of itunes and choose preferences.
Now click on the syncing or iphone tab when the preferences window comes up.
Near the bottom of the page there is a button to reset sync history.
    Hope this helps.

I have the same problem transfering Address book on iMac to contacts on iPhone (old version 3G - on iCloud). this is a hard wired connection

Might you have 200 entries in On My Mac groups and some of your appointments in On My Mac calendars?

  • How do i restore synching between Treo 650 and iCal & Address Book

prior to installing 10.4.7, i was able to sync my treo 650 with iCal and Address Book; iCal and Address Book syncs with .Mac and Entourage; Entourage syncs with Outlook on my office pc; and Outlook syncs with my Blackberry 8700. therefore, all i needed to do was enter an appointment or a contact in one device, and all the three other devices would be in sync.
i recently upgraded to 10.4.7 and now, i have problems synching: (1) iCal and Address Book can no longer sync with my treo 650, and (2) iCal and Address Book can't sync with Entourage either.
after installing 10.4.7, i noticed that my treo 650 cant sync with iCal and Address Book. i always get the error "isync conduit synchronization failed. ( the first time it happened, i checked isync, and i noticed that "enable palm os synching" was unchecked, so i enabled palm os synching. after that, i was able to sync my palm, but for one time only. after that, i couldnt sync anymore.)
at the same time, i noticed that iCal and Address Book wouldnt sync with Entourage anymore.
i also noticed that iCal starts-up even if i dont activate it. when iCal starts-up, the beach ball spins for around two minutes before it responds; if i click an entry to edit it, the beach ball would likewise spin for a minute or two before i can edit it. i went through all the entries and noticed that some have multiple alarm entries: i deleted these and iCal no longer slows down.
however, whenever i launch Entourage or iSync, iCal also launches. unfortunately, no synchronization takes place.
can somebody help? how do i restore synching between my treo 650 and iCal & Address Book? how do i restore synching with Entourage? thanks.

    Bon asis,
I have the exact same situation. Sorry this doesn't help, but wanted you to know that someone else is in the same exact boat.

  • I upgraded to 10.7.4, to upgrade to iCloud. And ever since the upgrade to iCloud, my iCal, Address book, etc. won't sync to my iPhone.

I upgraded to 10.7.4, to upgrade to iCloud. And ever since the upgrade to iCloud, my iCal, Address book, etc. won't sync to my iPhone. My iMAC does sync with my MacBook Pro but not to my iPhone. What do I do? And though my iMac sync to my MacBook Pro, there is a little problem. My iCal shows let's say 9 AM in my iMAC, it shows 8 AM in the MacBook Pro. The scheduling in the iCAL is a bet of a mess eer since of the upgrade.
    PLEASE HELP ME SOMEBODY PLEASE!!!

To sync to your iPhone, you need to check iCloud requirements to be sure your iPhone is compatible with iCloud and your iPhone software is up to date.
You also need to make sure iCloud is enabled on the iPhone.
And you need to make sure the iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi in order to sync.
For the time difference, be sure the time settings on each device is the same with time zone and daylight saving time the same setting on each.

  • How to sync Notes, iCal & Address Book between iPod & Mac?

    Hi, there:
Could someone please be so kind to teach me how to sync Notes, iCal & Address Book between my iPod Touch (with iOS6) & Mac (with OS X10.6.8)?
What file format would it be in when Notes is synced from my iPod Touch into Mac, if possible?
How may I drag photos in my regular photos files (not using iPhoto) from my Mac into iPod Touch?

Thanks so much for your detailed reply.  Much appreciated!
Just to confirm my understanding that 100% clear on the solution, if my wife gets her own iCloud account, on her phone she'll receive her own emails & iMessages (makes sense) but not contacts.  Calendars though we could share.
Without two separate iCloud accts though -- iCloud on my phone, and her email through Gmail on her phone -- we could share all the common iCloud data (contacts, calendar, notes, reminders, etc.) by enabling the appropriate settings on her phone.
Am I correct to conclude then that the sole benefit of her adding own iCloud acct is email through iCloud (and I guess the free 5GB)?  It would not be possible to simply and easily have one common 'family' address book (i.e. since while Calendars are share-able, contact libraries are not)?

  • I Need to build a database/booking and dispatch system that intergrates with iCal, Address Book and all Apple device's What would be the best Way.

    Hi
Can anyone give me some useful information on the best ways to design and build a database/booking & dispatch system that can be intergrated through ical, address book and available on my macbook, ipad & iphone and all accessed through icloud.
I started my own chauffuer Service a year ago as an independent. it's becoming a massive bore that most of my time is spent taking down information, checking if i am available for clients and with alot of diary checking and repeatative entries and email ping pong and invoicing, what i want to do is concerntrate on advertising and marketing and using my time off for R & R
What i would like to do is access my information in an app and automate most of the processes like
assigning the job to the client with intergration through iCal and Address Book
be able to email confirmation through mail with an invoice produced through numbers or excel
payment is already done through payleven mobile and must be done in person so i'd rather keep that seperate to all processes apart from a tick box to say it has been paid for.
I have been looking at all options  FileMaker, Bento, Automator, Apple Script. to be frank im no expert and am a little confused as to what to do any advice would be greatly recieved.

    Hi,
I would suggest that is going to be an involved and complex process.
I would personally look into some of the invoicing and time scheduling software available and see if any fit your needs.

  • Messed up iCal/Address book

This is quite protruded, but stick with it.   Since moving to iCloud I seem to be having a problem with my address book and iCal.
To demonstrate this problem I ran a test.   On my iPad i created a new contact "Jon Doe" who's birthday is 1st December 1980.   This birthday showed up on my iPad calendar correctly just like you'd expect.
However, move to my iMac.   In iCal Jon Doe's birthday shows up on the correct day, but has him turning 30 this year. (If he was born in 1980 he should be turning 31).   In Address book Jon Doe's birthday has somehow magically moved from Dec 1st to December 2nd.   Although it does correctly have him born in 1980.
On my iPod, Jon Doe's birthday shows up on the Calendar as Dec 2nd (It doesn't say how old he is turning on iOS) and in the Address book it has his birthday as Dec 2nd 1980.
3 different devices, 3 different results.   But this is where it gets really messed up.
I then created a new contact on my iPod.  "Jane Doe" also born on Dec 1st 1980.   She shows up in the calendar and contacts on my iPod correctly.
On my iMac Janes birthday is Dec 2nd in Address Book but Dec 1st in iCal ( And it incorrectly has her turning 30, not 31).
On my iPad Janes birthday is Dec 2nd in Calendar and contacts.
However, the really messed up thing is that since I added Jane, Jons birthday has moved!
My iPad says his birthday is now on Dec 3rd in contacts and Calandar.   My iMac has moved him to Dec 3rd in iCal and 2nd in Address book.   My iPod hasn't moved his birthday from the 2nd in contacts or Calendar, but this was wrong in the first place.   And if I then delete Jane, Jon doesn't go back.   His birthday is now the 4th in iCal but stayed where it was in everything else.
I'm not making this up!   I now have no idea when any of my friends and families real birthdays are.   I have conflicting info on 3 devices and between the software on those devices and absolutely no way of figuring out which is correct.  So much for iCloud syncing everything.
I'm in New Zealand so I figured this could be something to do with Time Zones but I have rigorously checked my settings and all 3 devices know that they are in NZ and have "time zone support" activated in the calendar prefs and this still wouldn't explain how contacts birthdays could 'move' when a new contact was added.
Has anyone heard of this problem?  Do you have any clue what's going on?   Or Any idea when my girlfriends real birthday is?   Any help massively appreciated.

I had the same problem. When I checked the information for the address card in a text editor, I found the birthday value was off by 11 months. Here is the simple way to repair your address card (and iCal birthday entry):
Select the address card for which the birthday is not showing in iCal.
Export to a .vcf format file by selecting "Export" from the "File" drop down on you toolbar.
Open the .vcf formatted file in a text editor (like TextEdit).
    Find the "BDAY" line.
Replace the incorrect data with the correct data.
    Save the file.
Import and replace the old address card with the corrected .vcf file.
    It worked for me!

  • ICal & Address Book to Outlook 2003

At home, I use iCal and Address Book. This is where I manage my calendar, contacts, etc. I sync it all to .Mac and my iPhone.
At work, I use Outlook 2003. However, it is a government Exchange server, and thus it cannot be accessed from home other than through webmail.
Thus, I'm in a bind. I manage my information in iCal and Address Book, but need to also be able to--at minimum--view that data in Outlook 2003 from my government system. The ability to write or syncronize data from Outlook is definitely important, but not nearly as crucial as at least being able to view the data.
Right now, I can view my data through my iPhone, but that's not a very comfortable or flexible approach when working in the office. Also, government networks are restricted from accessing many outside services, so viewing through .Mac's web UI is also not an option.
If I export from iCal, I get a .ICS file. Is there any way -- even manually -- to get this imported into Outlook 2003?
2003 cannot subscribe to an iCal, and as best I can figure out right now, it can't import a .ICS file either.
Of course, government computers cannot have 3rd party software installed, so I have to have a way of doing this with standard Microsoft Office Professional, or a Web-based application that can generate and download to me any files necessary for importing.
I thought of having iCal and Microsoft Entourage (also on my home system) sync that data, and doing the export from Entourage -- presuming of course that Entourage and Outlook would speak nicely with each other. Big assumption I guess. I just realized that an export from Entourage uses the .RGE format -- not the .PST that Outlook uses. So I can't even do THAT to then import into Outlook either.
Unless anyone has some other suggestions, I would guess there's nothing I can do until the government systems are upgraded to Outlook 2007, which if I hear correctly, can subscribe to an iCalendar feed (minus to-do's, etc.)
Am I up the creek on this one?
    dt

I don't know if you can sync on a government computer... my husband got around this similar situation by syncing his iPod Touch to his school computer (where he has Outlook 2003, and can only access via webmail outside of school), and having the iPod Touch also sync with Mobile Me (formerly .Mac) when away from work.
So far this is working for us as we needed a common calendar & shared contacts between his school events, my school events & personal events. (My computer syncs right with Mobile Me.) Perhaps this doesn't work in your situation as I'm not familiar with a government Exchange server...

  • Address book- Local contacts not in iCloud

I have an iMac, iPhone and iPad.
The IOS device are set to sync contacts only with iCloud.
Here's my issue; Address book on my iMac has 407 contacts, but there's only 221 on iCloud, and the IOS devices. Address Book has 2 accounts - iCloud, and Local, so it appears that there are some local contacts that aren't being synced.
I can't see any settings that would allow (force) all contacts to sync, it looks like it should just happen that way, so any assistance would be appreciated.
    Cheers
    Bill

Go to users and groups and choose only your On My Mac Contacts to display.
Ensure that nothing is typed in the search field.
Click to select the first contact and shift-click the last to select them all.
Drag the list of contacts to your desktop.
Delete the contacts from Address Book (using your delete key).
Make sure your iCloud account is your default account (preferences > general).
Select All iCloud contacts from users and groups.
Drag the file you previously dragged to your desktop back onto Address Book.
You might want to back up all your contacts before you begin.
Select All contacts in users and groups
Click to select the first contact and shift-click the last to select them all.
Drag the list of contacts to your desktop.
