Family sharing- invitiation to your own account!?!?

I set up a new family sharing.  I use one Apple ID and my wife is another one.
I logged in my Iphone6 with my ID and did Family Sharing to my Wife 's ID.
Response "Cannot send invitation"  You cannot send an invitation to your own account.
How can I separated our account?
Thanks

Howdy,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities.
From your post I see that you are unable to send an invitation to your family group to your wife.  Given the error states you cannot send an invitation to your own account, it looks like you may have an alias associated with your Apple ID, of which you are sharing with your wife.  This means you are under the same Apple ID, and would not need to use Family Sharing.  I'd like you to please check your iCloud settings to check if this is indeed the case.
Change, deactivate, reactivate, or delete an alias
In iCloud Mail, choose Preferences from the Action pop-up menu  in the sidebar.
Click Accounts.
Select the alias in the Addresses list, then do any of the following:
To choose a new color for incoming messages, click a Label Color option. Alias labels appear only in the iCloud Mail app on iCloud.com.
To change the name or label, enter a new alias name and label in the fields provided. Alias names must contain between 3 and 20 characters.
To turn off an alias, select “Disable alias.”
When an alias is turned off, all email messages addressed to that alias are returned to the sender.
To turn on an alias, deselect “Disable alias.”
To delete an alias, click Delete.
Click Done.

  • "this itunes account is set up to use family sharing with a different iCloud account"

I set up an iCloud family. Until now, everyone had their own iCloud account, and we had a separate iTunes ID (not an iCloud e-mail address) that all of our purchases were made under.
So, I set up that Apple ID as the master account and added everyone's personal iCloud accounts as members.
Then, I went into iTunes prefs and logged in as my iCloud account.
When I go to the App store and go to Purchased, it says:
"this itunes account is set up to use family sharing with a different iCloud account than <my iTunes Apple ID>." Then there is a Learn More link that takes me to my iCloud and shows my family group with the same Apple ID as the organizer.
Does anyone have any idea what happened to cause it to think that I am not in the same family group?
    Thanks.

    Update...I now notice:
    Going to: App Store>Updates>Purchases:
    1)  The message “This iTunes account is set up to use family sharing with a different iCloud account other than <her iCloud ID>...”  Is now showing up on my iPhone and can no longer see any of my purchases or hers.
    2) The same message above is now showing on my iPad mini (it didn’t before).  But, I can still see both hers and my purchases on my iPad mini.
    3) The message "This iTunes account is set up to use family sharing with a different iCloud account other than <my iCloud ID>…” still showing on her iPhone and she still can’t see her or my purchases.
iTunes Family Sharing still works fine.
Note: If I Go to Settings>iTunes & App Store then log out of my Apple ID, then go to App Store>Updates>Purchases and log into my Apple ID from there, My purchases show up (not hers). I then toggle between Updates and Purchases and the message pops up and unable to see any purchases, again.  Same thing happens when I do it to her phone except her purchases show up (not mine).
I emailed this update to Apple...waiting for a reply.

  • Another "This itunes account is set up to use family sharing with a different icloud account than Apple ID "

I saw another thread on the matter but thought I would post because the circumstances are different. Here is how it happened.
I have had an Apple Store account for years and until recently our family has only had our one Mac and my iPhone 4. Thus any purchases we have made on the Apple App Store were made only with this account.
We recently purchased two iPhone 5S's--one for my wife and one for my daughter. Neither had Apple IDs so first we set up my wife's iPhone and created an Apple ID for her. Next we used the Family Sharing feature to set up an account for our "under age 13" daughter.
Because I am still waiting for my iPhone 6 Plus to arrive, and because the iPhone 4 cannot upgrade to iOS 8, and because my Apple ID is the only account with any apps that have been purchased in prior years, I set up my wife as the Family Organizer but when I set up her account, I chose the option to "share purchases from a different account" and entered the information for my Apple ID.
My daughter is able to view my prior purchases on her iPhone, but when my wife tries to view my prior purchases, she receives the message "This iTunes account is set up to use Family Sharing with a different iCloud account than <her Apple ID>."
I hope Apple is reading this. I would be more than willing to help them on this one as this feature is one of the main reasons I put our family on iPhones.

I had this problem. I finally figured it out yesterday. Try this:
On the device that is having trouble seeing purchases, go to Settings>iCloud>Family Sharing> Then tap on the user of the device you are on. Under "Family Purchases" make sure it has the AppleID of the person for that device. Mine originally had my husbands AppleID in there (he is the Organizer), but I changed it to mine. That doesn't make it so that the purchases are under me. The purchases remained under my husband, but my ID had to be in this spot for it to work.
After that, I closed settings, then I went to Settings>iTunes and App Store> click on the AppleID and Sign Out, even if it has the right AppleID in there. Then Sign In again using the AppleID of the person on that device. Again-- even if it has the right ID in there to start, still sign out and back in.
See if they show up. If they don't show up still, try doing a restart (hold down power button and home button until it restarts).
They should show up by then, but if they don't, at that point, try to go into iCloud and Sign Out and back in.
I think the key is having the right ID in "Family Purchases". I hope this works for you.

  • Can I be a part of family sharing and use my own credit card?

Can I be a part of family sharing and use my own credit card?

    Hello SamLupien,
As detailed below, all purchases are billed to the Family Sharing organizer.
With Family Sharing, one adult in the family—the family organizer—agrees to pay for any iTunes, iBooks, and App Store purchases that other family members initiate while they're part of the family group. This also includes ongoing subscription purchases initiated by family members, such as iCloud storage, iTunes Match, and Newsstand subscriptions.

  • Family Sharing vs using single iTunes account - can I switch?

I currently have my iTunes account used on my devices, and also use it for my daughters' iTunes account on their iPods. They do not have their own iCloud account at  all at this point.
I am planning to give them their own iCloud accounts with their new iPods at Christmas, and want to make sure I understand how Family Sharing works before committing to it. Some of what I have heard about it does not seem to be any better than what I currently do with my wife - we have our own iCloud accounts, but share the same account (mine) for purchasing.
If I set up my kids (age 10) under family sharing as kids, and would rather still use my account for purchases, is that possible? I assume that I could still enter my credentials into the purchasing section of their iPods, even though they have a kids iCloud account, correct? Or does it somehow lock out the ability to do that if you have the account set up for a child?
I probably will just use the family sharing setup, with their accounts set up for purchasing, but with me approving, but I want to be sure I can still put my account in instead as well, just in case I want more "control" over what they get.
    Does anyone know?

    Has anyone tried this?
If you have a child Apple ID set up under family share, can you put in your (adult) Apple ID into their "iTunes & App Store" section on their iPod, to effectively bypass the adult consent, but require me to put in MY password for their purchases on their device?
I want to give them their own Apple ID so they are not sharing mine for data. I am not wanting to fake their ages and set up their own adult account, but not sure I want to fully embrace the apparently cludgy Family Sharing setup by Apple.
If someone has their child set up under family sharing, can you try going to their "iTunes & App Store" section, and see if it would even allow you to enter in your iCloud credentials, or if it is locked out by family share? You shouldn't have to actually submit it to see.

  • Family Sharing Issue: Problem with child account not having access to parents purchases.

I created a family sharing network consisting of my me, my wife, and my 16 y/o son.  I can see/download my wife's purchases and she can see/download my purchases. I can also see/download my sons purchases.  My son can see my purchases, but when he attempts to download them he gets the error message "Unable to Download: To download shared content, your Family must have a valid payment method."
There is a valid payment method and the account and it was verified when sitting up my son's account for family sharing.  I'd note that my son is the only one in the family that doesn't have a payment method associated with his personal account. However, I don't think that's anrequirement to set up family sharing.
Hopefully, this issue will be addressed quickly.

  • Family sharing works with different regional accounts

So I have my aple ID based in Ireland, and I just setup the family sharing option with my mom living in Portugal.
Will she see all my purchases even if they are from my country? and more important: can she download them if they are country  store specific?
Usually if you search for an app that is not available in your country you cannot download it unless you have an account for that specific country.

All your Applications should be in /Applications folder by default to be accessible to all users and to be seen by updaters. If you created an "Applications" folder within your Home folder, then only you will be able to use those Applications. Otherwise there should be no permissions issues.
Check Permissions Inside a Home folder:
    • Navigate to /Users/~(Home)/Library.
    • Get Info (Command - i) on folders for apps you are having problems with.
    • Open the "Ownership & permissions" disclosure triangle.
    • Make sure the user is the owner, with "read and write" access.
    • Click on "apply to all"
    • If this is correct, open the "Applications Support" folder and do the same procedure (Command+I) for the folders with the names of the applications you are having trouble with.

We are using our individual itune, apple ,and Icloud accounts.

Yeah - not sure why that is happening only for Apps. Might be best for you to give Apple Support a call. You are still within your 90-day period, so the support will be free of charge. Here's the link - just follow the prompts and it will take you to a page where you can set up a call:

  • Family sharing keep asking for payment account

    Hello,

The issue seems to have resolved itself, I assume the issue was a glitch on Apple's end.

  • How much does it cost to start your own account and also do you have to be 18 to start an account???

I'm not 18 yet but I would like to get my own verizon account so I can be in control of it. I just need to know if i have to be 18 and how much does it cost for activation because my phone will be 100$.

Depending on the law in your state most states only allow you to enter into a contract at age 18.
Please note due to your age and lack of credit history there may be a $400 security deposit, the cost of the plan you are choosing so that can be any where between $75-$120 and up.
Then there is an activation fee of $35 plus taxes and surcharges.
If you get service before Verizon sets up your bill closing date that may incur partial service cost as well as the month in advance.
So I would walk in for service expecting at least $600-$800 and after that the price will be stable. Barring any data overage charges.
This amount will not be the same for prepay.
    Good Luck

  • I have been sharing an apple ID and icloud with other family members. How do I change my iphone so as to create my own account?

I have been sharing I-cloud with other family members. How do I change my i-cloud setting on my i-phone so as to creare my own account?

If you want to keep your iCloud data, you would need to migrate your device and a copy of the data to a new account.  To migrate to a new account, start by saving any photo stream photos you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; others keeping the account will not be effected by this), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on your own account, you can go to icloud.com and manually delete any data you don't want in your account without effecting anyone else.

  • Family Sharing - Your Family Is Managed By Alternate Apple ID

    All,
I asked this in the iCloud Forum, but, now I think my problem needs to be discussed here based on on what I have discovered......
I just got a new iPhone 6 Plus.  I set it up as new rather than restore from backup of my old iPhone.  I signed into my own iCloud account for iTunes/Apps, Family Sharing and etc. I am a parent/guardian and NOT the organizer.
The issue is when I go to the App Store>Purchased on the 6 Plus, I notice the following message:
"This iTunes account is setup to use Family Sharing with a different iCloud account than 'Organizer's Primary Apple ID'. Learn More"
I do see my other family members and their purchases.  I am also able to download their purchases as well.  So Family Sharing on the App Store appears to be functioning properly with the exception of the message.  iTunes and iBooks do not show the message.
My old iPhone and my iPad also do not display this message when I go to the App Store.
This is what I have noticed on my iPhone when I go to Settings > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID: My ID > View Apple ID > Family Sharing
"You are part of a Family.  The payment method for your Family is managed by 'Organizer's ALTERNATE Apple ID'......."
The organizer has only signed into iTunes, iCloud and set up Family Sharing using the Primary Apple ID, so I do not understand why the Alternate Apple ID appears to be used in the background to manage our Family. I think this is what is causing the above error message.
Any ideas deals on how to fix?
    Thank you

  • HT5622 My family shared an itunes account and now i'm moving out and have created a new account just for myself. Is there a way to transfer my previous purchases on the other account to my new account?

My family shared an Itunes account and now i'm moving out and have created a new account solely for myself. Is there a way to transfer my previous purchases on the family account to my new account?

In order to continue to play and sync the music you purchased with your old account, you'll need to authorize your new computer/iTunes library to do so.  You can do this by choosing Store -> Authorize This Computer and then entering in your old account credentials.
That's all you should need to.  Then just create your own account and start purchasing and using it the same you have with the old one.

  • Family Sharing enabled, cannot view my own purchases on iPhone anymore

I have Family Sharing set up for my family.
    I am the organizer.
I have my wife and my daughter added to Family Sharing.
My daughter's account was added using "Create an Apple ID for a child".
I am logged into my own iCloud account on my iPhone, as you'd expect.
I am logged into my own iTunes and App store account (matches my iCloud account login) on my iPhone, as you'd expect.
My problem is that in the App Store on iOS, looking at Purchased Items shows me the following:
My iPhone knows that I'm logged into my own iTunes and iCloud accounts in all other respects. Why does it think that I'm logged into my daughter's iCloud account for viewing All Purchases? Am I the only one in the universe seeing this?
    Thanks.

Sounds as though you may have set the folder up in iTunes.
Please note that Photostream does not store all the photos on your drive - it only stores recent photos taken on your iOS devices.

I am part of a family sharing setup.  Can I have my own payment method so the organizer does not get charged for my purchases?  If so, how do I set this up?

Yes.  Just redeem gift cards so that your own account always has a sufficient credit balance.  Here is how it works:
    Family purchases and payments
After you set up your family, any time a family member initiates a new purchase it will be billed directly to your account unless that family member has gift or store credit. First, their store credit will be used to pay the partial or total bill. The remainder will bill to the family organizer's card.
