Family Sharing Payments problem

It appears that Family Sharing will ONLY accept a credit card as payment method.
I live in one country and have my bank and CC in another. This won't work in iTunes.
In my country of residence I make use of an Apple approved third party payment provider, but this is not accepted by the new function "Family Sharing"..
In this case Family Sharing does not work for me.. ;-(

I didn't have that problem and I don't know how to explain that BUT to overcome that problem and put family sharing to work use the alternative method.
When you are asked to ad a famil member you can send invitation or you can ask him/her to write password directly in your device. Try this last one and lt me know, it worked fine for me

  • Problem with iTunes family sharing payment & app licenses

    Hiya,
We're using iTunes family sharing with my wife since iOS8, on our iPhones (4S & 5, both with latest iOS). My account is the "Organizer" and my wife has Parental access (so she can use the same payment method, my credit card).
There are a couple of shared apps we use - I purchased them originally and they are available for her to use via family sharing. Apart from the early days' hiccups with iOS8, we had no issues with this setup, that is, until yesterday. All of a sudden, when trying to access the shared apps, she started to get error messages like "this app is no longer shared with you" and the like.
We tried the following to no avail:
    - deleting & re-installing the shared apps
    - leaving & re-joining family sharing with her account
    - updating the payment method that is attached to my account (effectively my credit card)
When trying to update my payment method, it seemed weird that:
    - Apple was asking for the security code of my card (that is OK so far), and when I input that...
    - ...Apple stated my card is expired (which is simply not true, it's still more than a year until expiry)
And on top of that I couldn't update nor delete nor add any other payment method, at least on iOS (haven't tried desktop iTunes yet).
By the way, I did a test purchase on my account, and it worked perfectly, so it seems that my card is OK as long as my account is initiating the purchase.
    Questions are:
    - how can I fix the family sharing issue?
    - what's wrong with the payment method checking?
    Cheers
    Tamas

There are a few reasons why that would be the case. Any apps that you may have purchased and then transfered to her device would need your account information in order to update. Thats why when you go to update it brings up your id. Also make sure to check under settings that she is signed in on the device to her account not yours. You can check this from settings<store<view accout or sign in/out.
Any app you purchased is tied to the account it was purchased on, no matter if it is stored in an itunes library on a computer, a free app or free update.

  • Family Sharing Issue: Problem with child account not having access to parents purchases.

I created a family sharing network consisting of my me, my wife, and my 16 y/o son.  I can see/download my wife's purchases and she can see/download my purchases. I can also see/download my sons purchases.  My son can see my purchases, but when he attempts to download them he gets the error message "Unable to Download: To download shared content, your Family must have a valid payment method."
There is a valid payment method and the account and it was verified when sitting up my son's account for family sharing.  I'd note that my son is the only one in the family that doesn't have a payment method associated with his personal account. However, I don't think that's anrequirement to set up family sharing.
Hopefully, this issue will be addressed quickly.

  • Family Sharing - Payments

HI, id like to ask about Family Sharing and the payment method.
IN the settings window where i can send an invite to my sister for example, it shows my credit card under "payment method", and right beneath it it'll say "purchases initiated by family members will be billed to this payment method".
Does this mean that if invite mu sister into Family Sharing, and she decides to puchase an app, it will be billed to my CC but not to her own? If it will show her own CC as well, will she be able to choose between the two?
Basically what Im trying to accomplish is that each of us will pay from our own CCs for the stuff we want for ourselves but at the same time both of us could use each other's purchases.
Thanks in advance for clearing this up for me

I guess by that Apple made it "less attractive" for people to add any random people to their sharing plan. But even in a family i find it to be very odd using just one credit card, as usually both parents or their grown kids would have a user account rather all of them hooked to their personal credit cards. I dont see why this would make sense tho. Why not log in with the same user account on all devices and therefor use one credit card. Basically thats exactly what Family Sharing is then, nothing but one account for all, just disguised in a different and prettier name - "Family Sharing".
Thanks for helping me clear it up.
    Cheers

  • Family sharing mail problem

In the mail it says, click here to show the invitation, she clicks it and comes to a webpage saying

    Anyone else with this problem?

  • Family Sharing Calendar problem

I have recently set up family sharing - with 2 members being my kids. I can share the calendar set up with my daughter on her Macbook air but my son's miniIpad cannot see his calendar on his device. As the organiser, when I change something to his calendar on my desk top - it doesn't get to my son's miniipad calendar? His ipad has been set up using his appleid etc so I really don't know what I have done wrong?

I have a very similar problem - I have family sharing set up with my husband and son - my husband on an iPhone 4 of some sort, and my son and I on 5s.  I am the organizer. My husband can see my family calendar items, and I can see his, but our family items do not push through onto my son's calendar, nor items he tries to put in to ours.  He is listed as a family member on my phone, but when I go to settings on his phone it says something like 'family sharing not available.'  all phones are running iOS 8.  My son's requests for permission to buy things do come through - if I happen to be on the phone when he asks! - so he is clearly part of the family.  But he cannot download apps WE have bought onto his phone, permission or not. My husband and I seem able to share apps without problem.  What's going on, and how do we get our son fully integrated into the family sharing program?

  • Family sharing payment method

    hi,
How can I use my iTunes money from my account, if I am on a Family Sharing? Every time I try to buy a song, it wants to charge my credit card... And I want to use my money, not my credit card.

    Hi Oscar.alfonso17,
Purchases made by members of a Family Sharing group are billed to the credit card assigned to that account unless the purchaser has credit for the store, typically in the form of store credit or gift cards. See this article -

  • Can I have multiple payment methods on my Family Sharing account?

My family and I all just joined the Apple community, and we set up a family sharing account. However, everyone in our family sharing account would like to use our own methods of payment, (like myself, my dad, etc). Can we do this?

    Hello steevo_711,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. It contains helpful advice concerning Family Sharing payments. There can be only one payment method which is associated with the family organizer:
    Setting up Family Sharing
When you set up Family Sharing, you'll be asked to confirm that you agree to pay for purchases initiated by the family members you invite and that you have a valid payment method on file. Valid payment methods for setting up Family Sharing include credit cards and debit cards. You can change the billing method on file in your account at any time in your iTunes & App Store account settings.
    Making purchases
After you set up your family, any time a family member initiates a new purchase it will be billed directly to your account unless that family member has gift or store credit. First, their store credit will be used to pay the partial or total bill. The remainder will bill to the family organizer. As the family organizer, any receipts generated by the transaction will be sent to you. Learn more about how iTunes Store purchases are billed.
Once paid for, a purchased item is added to the account of the family member who initiated the purchase. In other words, the content belongs to them, much as it would if you were buying them a book or a DVD. If Family Sharing is ever disabled, each member will keep the purchases they initiated, even though they were paid for by the family organizer.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.

  • Family Sharing, Ask to buy and iTunes cards

my son got a iTunes Gift card for christmas.  Is it possible to add the gift card to his Apple account, but still have the Family Sharing Ask to Buy feature work?  Or will he get to make purchases without the Ask to Buy feature working?

    Hey there jccamp95,
Your son will be able to redeem the iTunes Gift Card and it will apply to his Apple ID in the iTunes Store. Take a look at this info from the following article about Family Sharing payments and billing:
    Family purchases and payments
After you set up your family, any time a family member initiates a new purchase it will be billed directly to your account unless that family member has gift or store credit. First, their store credit will be used to pay the partial or total bill. The remainder will bill to the family organizer's card. • How do I reassign a child's Apple ID to an iPad under my ID (so we can take advantage of family sharing)?

I have set up family sharing - no problem between my wife and myself, as we have separate Apple IDs, however I have created a new Apple ID for my 8 year old daughter (who has her own iPad Mini which is registered to my Apple ID) - I would like to swap my ID for her ID on this iPad and then use family sharing. Do I have to do a full reset? That would involve reinstalling all our previously downloaded applications? Many thanks for any advice in advance.

Thanks for spending time to reply. Again, I appreciate any further advice.
I have already changed the Apple ID in iTunes, but the sticking point is actually the iCloud Apple ID - I can't seem to find anyway of changing this apart from resetting the whole device. The problem with this is that all of her photos and app data are being stored under my iCloud account, and I'd very much prefer her to use her own iCloud service (all her photos appear in my photo stream, which includes hundred of butterflies and my little pony pictures from the apps that an 8 year old would use!), so my iCloud drive gets full, whilst hers remains empty.
I did try a "reset all settings" but on reboot it didn't prompt for an iCloud ID.
I've tried playing around with iTunes as well - if I go to Account Info> Manage Devices, I can see a list of devices associated with my Apple ID (9 in total!) It says computers and devices can be associated with a different Apple ID once every 90 days... I've removed the iPad that I believe is my daughter's (and I also tried my wife's), but this makes no difference either - iCloud is still associated with my ID.
I also went to www.icloud.com and I can see all the devices associated with my iCloud account - but can't change anything.
My daughter has also inherited my wife's old iPhone5, which I did a full reset for and successfully associated with her iCloud account - as it was a new device to her this wasn't a problem... However, her iPad has lots of game progress (like my little ponies) that would be lost with a full reset.
Anybody have a solution? Thanks in advance.

  • I already have a valid payment method for my iTunes account, but can't get past the Family Sharing setup prompt telling me to add a payment method . What to do?

I already have a valid payment method for my iTunes account, but can't get past the Family Sharing setup prompt telling me to add a payment method . What to do?

I had the same problem and found a bunch of others did, too.  Unfortunately all the posts had no responses!  Anyway, I previously had my payment method linked to my paypal.  I tried changing it to my credit card and it worked.  Don't know if there's a bug with using paypal but that seemed to be the culprit for me.  Good luck!

  • My family sharing is completely broken, can't change payment info

I've had family sharing working great since the introduction of IOS 8, but yesterday one of my kids told me that none of her apps were working any more. Both iTunes and the App store on her iPad said that family sharing setup was not complete. The link led me to the iTunes Payment screen, where I was told to correct the items highlight in red, which was only the 3 number security code. When I press Done, I'm told again to correct items in red, which there are none, however the payment type is blank with no way to input anything.
So, backwards and forwards between iPads, logout, log back in, even restored one of the kids iPads, but the same issue occurs. So searching for a solution, the internet suggested the family organiser removing the payment method and re-entering the same details. So I go into my account in iTunes on my iMac, try to edit my payment information. The last four digits of the number are there, but it's all grayed out, and there's no option to change, add or remove any payment type.
So here I am wasting my whole weekend trying to get the kid's iPad working. I can't turn off or even remove anyone from family sharing because I have two kids under 13. Their iCloud accounts are totally useless at this point.
How do I fix my payment method issue and my broken family sharing?

Contact iTS Customer Service via the links on this page and explain the problem - http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/

  • Family Sharing set up problem

I am trying to add family sharing from my iPad. When i tap"set up Family Sharing" I get this message: "Only an adult with a valid iTunes & App store payment method can set up Family Sharing." Credit card info is all up to date (even did and itunes purchase to test it).  I've tried everything I can think of... Help!!!

I'm not sure what the problem would be.  Try contacts iTunes store support for assistance by by going to https://expresslane.apple.com, then click See All Products & Services>iTunes>iTunes Store>Purchases, Billing & Redemption>The topic is not listed.  The call should be free of charge.

  • Family sharing with separate payment.

We have a Family iTunes sharing in our family. My wife is the orginizer.
When I am buying on iTunes, the payment goes now automatically to her iTunes account and her creditcard. I whish that my purchases will go to my iTunes account and my creditcard, and not to hers.  Is it possible to change this ? I will still be a member of the Family sharing account.

I'm having the same problem, all the purchases get charged to the Family Sharing organizer. I've searched about a solution but there isn't any. There are only two ways that I found so far:
    1) quit the family sharing and let the other member use each other apps by syncing their iPhones on the same Mac/Pc and insert the app owner's password when they're asked to.
    2) quit the family sharing when you're about to buy an app/song, so you'll use your credit card, and rejoin the family sharing as soon as the payment occured. But this has to be done every time you buy anything and it's not necessary to be done by the organizer.
