FamilyTreeMaker 3 for MAC (application) with Yosemite OS X 10.10.1

Question

FTM is a genealogy program providing a database of vitals of all your family - descendants and ancestors.
This application was flawless under OS Mavericks, but when I upgraded to Yosemite in August 2014, a
strange abnormality became evident.
The display screen for an individual identifies the NAME in the top centre of that person's data. The background
for that NAME is highlighted in dark blue to make it more evident. This worked with Mavericks, but it doesn't work
with Yosemite. ANCESTRY, the owner of that software, have moved on and do not support FTM 2. There is no "fix"
in the works, but you can buy an upgrade to FTM 3 (for $28 US). The system requirements quote "Mavericks OS
X 10.9". A telephone call today suggested that Yosemite 10.10.1 should be OK ???????? Why buy it?
It looks like the invisible attribute for this field is wrong and the field is being grayed-out, rather than having a dark
blue background. The spouse's name is directly below the grayed-out name. You can switch the 2 names in order
to get the spouse's details. When the names are reversed, the spouse becomes the prime display and her name
gets grayed-out. When the husband's name is displayed below hers, his name becomes visible.

The problem lies in the display of the NAME field, when FTM is in Person mode.
While all of the data displayed for that person is correct, ONLY the NAME field
for that person is at fault. I should be able to read that name in the NAME field at
the top centre of the active window. (The name should also be highlighted in dark blue).
Instead, the name field is grayed-out). Switching to the spouse's name, brings her data
into display, but now her name is grey-out.
