Famous error 404 in URL of QuickTime

Have looked at all previous questions on this issue but can't find an answer.
I have an mv4 file.
a) If viewed via File / Open - the file is on my hard disk, and the video displays without any problem
b) If viewed via File / URL - I get error 404 "an unknown error occurred". My mv4 file has been uploaded to our server and I am sure the path is correct
I am now desparate as I cannot find an answer to this problem. Thank you very much for help.

Thanks for helping me. I have done that by entering
http://www.netlearn-ch.com/fr/podcasts/02EB.m4v
The above URL is pointing to the m4v file on our server. I get the 404 error.
If I do simply File / Open in QuickTime and open the above m4v file stored on my hard drive, it works fine, showing that it is not a video problem per se.
There is something basic I obviously don't get. Thanks anyway for your help. Kind regards, Doris, Geneva, Switzerland

  • Err 404 The URL could not be found on the server

I attempted to purchase a song and got this error message, error 404 the URL could not be found on the server. Now every time I download any song, it attempts to find the song and gives me the same error message. I don't care if I lose the song. I would just like to make it stop trying to download it.

  • Running Windows 7, all versions of Firefox beyond 3.6.0 will not access websites, showing Error 404 and displaying only the portion of the URL that follows the domain name

Choosing any of several dozen bookmarks, Firefox will show a screen reporting Error 404 and display only part of the complete URL (whatever follows the slant mark beyond the domain name). When going to a new site, such as provided by a Google search, the initial page may show up but clicking on links within that page again brings up the 404 error. My only solution has been to uninstall whatever new version of Firefox has been automatically downloaded and then re-install version 3.6.0, which works.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox.

I have a MacBook Air OS X, Version 10.7.5 and when open my Apple Calendar, I get the alert "encountered HTTP error 404. Make sure the URL is correct. Anyone? The error message comes very often but my calendar DOES still work.

  • Error 404 when accessing website by traffic manger URL

    So here's the case...
I have 2 azure websites that are available by custom domains let's say eu.somecustomdomainhere.com and us.somecustomdomainhere.com.
Also there is a traffic manager say myglobal.trafficmanager.net with custom domain www.somecustomdomainhere.com
    Load balancing method: Performance
Once I add 2 endpoints using custom URLs on open custom or .trafficmanager.net URL I get Error 404 blue page. When I run NSLOOKUP I get records that point to the right endpoints and IP. When I try to open IP in webbrowser I get the sam 404 error page.
Here's an interesting part: when I add custom domain to one of the websties in management portal that corresponds to traffic manager URL or www.somecustomdomainhere.com in azure portal it start redirecting me to that on website. I tried to add the same custom
domain to the second website but it says that custom domain is already assigned to another website.
So I removed trafficmanager.net and www.somecustomdomainhere.com records from the website and it get 404 error again.
Telnet to traffic manager connects on port 80.
I waited for 24 hours just in case DNS record is cached by no luck.
So the question is: How do I work around this and is it a known issue or for how long should I wait?

According to this, endpoints from different subscriptions can be added:
Deploy your Azure cloud services, Azure websites, or other endpoints to your production environment. When you create a Traffic Manager profile, it must be associated with a subscription. You then add endpoints for cloud services and Standard
tier websites in production that are part of the same subscription. If an endpoint is in staging and is not in an Azure production environment or is not in the same subscription, it can be added as an external endpoint. For more information
    about cloud services, see
Cloud Services. For more information about websites, see
    Websites.

  • Exchange 2013 RPC URL shows Error 404 Page Not Found

    Hi,
I have been told by Barracuda Support to verify my Exchange 2013 RPC url is working correctly using the following address in a Web Browser:
    https://RoH server address/rpc
When I hit this URL I input my credentials and get a Error 404 - Page Not Found.
I dont have any issues with Outlook Anywhere and clients are working fine. The tests come from this article and I am wondering if they are still valid for Exchange 2013 so need some help:
    https://techlib.barracuda.com/BMA/EnableRoH
Does anyone else get the 404 error when they try the RPC virtual directory? If I got rpc/rpcproxy.dll that works fine and no issues.
We have Outlook Anywhere configured for NTLM authentication so maybe this is an issue and should be Basic?

I did some digging in the CAS RPC logs and I found this connection attempt:
    <snip>
    2014-06-18T15:22:40.902Z,CAS-SERVER,RpcHttp,"S:Stage=EndRequest;S:UserName=domain\admin;S:OutlookSessionId=""{1A731432-5548-402F-892A-C9FE489BB78D}"";S:AuthType=Basic;S:Status=404 Not Found;S:HttpVerb=RPC_IN_DATA;S:UriQueryString=?pdc.domain.local:593;S:RequestId=7b1e355e-6448-4ed4-8112-8ab13d88a76f;S:ClientIp=192.168.0.17"
    </snip>
As you can see the 404 Not Found is for the request to /rpc. I am wondering if maybe this has changed in Exchange 2013 SP1? Or have I got a bigger issue here?

  • Quicktime: "Error 47: Invalid Url. ()"

When one is trying to watch movie trailers on http://trailers.apple.com/ and choosing 720p or 1080p one gets a popup with -> "Error 47: Invalid URL. ()"
This problem started some time in june and I am not alone to have this problem.
But so far there is no solution to it.
Tried to reinstall quicktime and even tried to reinstall the os but no luck so far.
    Os: Windows 7 X64 Sp1
Browser: Chrome (even tried Internet Explorer but same problem)

    maybe this helps,
if you're on windows 7 like me, run quicktime in xp compatibility
to do this: got to C:\Program Files\QuickTime (or the location you installed QT)
right click on quicktimeplayer.exe and in the compatibility tab checkmark ''run in compatibility mode'' or something (sorry my windows is in dutch) and choose xp sp3
hope this helps, it fixed my problem, I was getting Error 47:0 on HD trailers.
but now the QT player opens and the trailer plays in full HD

I simply un checked calendar in my account settings and closed ical.

  • Error 404 -- Not Found, when a Servlet is invoked from browser

Obviously, I have not been able to configure my WebLogic Server 5.1.0 to run
              even the simplest servlet.
I painstakenly went through all the steps that are listed in the WebLogic
Server 5.1.0 documentation on the Web to enable servlets, but obviously, I
              have missed a step somewhere.
I have modified the weblogic.properties file as per all the instrustions,
but the server simply won't recognize any servlets, not even the SqlServlet
that came with the server as an example.
It would require more than 1 exchange of posts to resolve it for me, and I
am wondering if one of you is willing to work with me on this until I have
managed to configure the server to make a servlet work on it.
The server does function as a Web server as I can run the index.html
document by entering the URL: http://localhost:7001/index.html
I am pasting the contents of weblogic.properties file below to get the
person who is willing to help me started.
The machine I have is a Pentium III with Windows 2000 Professional on it.
It's a home machine and the WebLogic server is the freely downloadable
version. I am using it to prepare for a potential contract work.
I have managed to modify setEnv.cmd file and have managed to compile the
SqlServlet.java, which is an example servlet. Neither this particular
servlet nor a HelloWorld type of very basic servlet I have written are
              recognized by the server.
As you can see from my weblogic.properties file (pasted at the end of this
post), the SqlServlet has been registered. I have also uncommented the lines
to allow for the following type of URL:
              http://localhost:7001/servlet/myServlet
              Thanks!

    Problem Resolved!
I found out that I had 'http' instead of 'httpd' in the statement where I
              registered my servlet, SqlServlet.
Now, I am having difficulty with hot deployment. The server is returning
              error 404.

  • I want to add refworks grabit to my tool bar, when I try to install for firefox it won' t let me this is what I get: HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found The page you a

this is the complete error I get. I just installed firefox so that I can use this feature and now it is useless.
    Error Summary
HTTP Error 404.3 - Not Found
The page you are requesting cannot be served because of the extension configuration. If the page is a script, add a handler. If the file should be downloaded, add a MIME map.
    Detailed Error Information
    Module StaticFileModule
    Notification ExecuteRequestHandler
    Handler StaticFile
    Error Code 0x80070032
    Requested URL http://www.refworks.com:80/refgrabit/install.xpi
    Physical Path E:\RefGrabIt\install.xpi
    Logon Method Anonymous
    Logon User Anonymous
Failed Request Tracing Log Directory C:\inetpub\logs\FailedReqLogFiles
    Most likely causes:
It is possible that a handler mapping is missing. By default, the static file handler processes all content.
The feature you are trying to use may not be installed.
The appropriate MIME map is not enabled for the Web site or application. (Warning: Do not create a MIME map for content that users should not download, such as .ASPX pages or .config files.)
    If ASP.NET is not installed.
    Things you can try:
    In system.webServer/handlers:
Ensure that the expected handler for the current page is mapped.
Pay extra attention to preconditions (for example, runtimeVersion, pipelineMode, bitness) and compare them to the settings for your application pool.
Pay extra attention to typographical errors in the expected handler line.
Please verify that the feature you are trying to use is installed.
Verify that the MIME map is enabled or add the MIME map for the Web site using the command-line tool appcmd.exe.
To set a MIME type, use the following syntax: %SystemRoot%\windows\system32\inetsrv\appcmd set config /section:staticContent /+[fileExtension='string',mimeType='string']
The variable fileExtension string is the file name extension and the variable mimeType string is the file type description.
For example, to add a MIME map for a file which has the extension ".xyz": appcmd set config /section:staticContent /+[fileExtension='.xyz',mimeType='text/plain']
Warning: Ensure that this MIME mapping is needed for your Web server before adding it to the list. Configuration files such as .CONFIG or dynamic scripting pages such as .ASP or .ASPX, should not be downloaded directly and should always be processed through a handler. Other files such as database files or those used to store configuration, like .XML or .MDF, are sometimes used to store configuration information. Determine if clients can download these file types before enabling them.
    Install ASP.NET.
Create a tracing rule to track failed requests for this HTTP status code. For more information about creating a tracing rule for failed requests, click here.
Links and More Information This error occurs when the file extension of the requested URL is for a MIME type that is not configured on the server. You can add a MIME type for the file extension for files that are not dynamic scripting pages, database, or configuration files. Process those file types using a handler. You should not allows direct downloads of dynamic scripting pages, database or configuration files.

That file might have moved to a different location on the server. I think you'll need to check with RefWorks support or your local IT department on why the install page links do not work.
