How to tell if the fan works? it works when Laptop powered up, but no other times.
I've had it less than a year, and customer services, wont fix it unless I mail the receipt, which I cant find. i called the next day and said I will pay for it to be looked at, and replaced if needed. The price was £223.94. Which is 51% of the price I paid for the laptop originally, so I left it.
I need to know if my laptop is save to use. It can get hot, I'm worried it could start a fire. The fan only comes on when I boot the laptop up, no other times. What software can I use to tests to see if it functions properly? then I know if i will have to pay to send it away. (not a dust or venting problem) also its a instant sudden one

The only thing you can do is place the iPod in Recovery mode and restore via iTunes on a computer. It is a good security feature.

Have you tried a 'hard reset'. You do not lose any of your data on the iPad.
Here are the steps:
Press the Power Buton and the Home button simultaneously.
Continue to hold down both buttons until the iPad shuts off
Release the buttons when the Apple Logo appears.
Also, make sure your iPad is not in airplane mode. Settings, Airplane mode is the first option under settings,

is there anyway besides guessing to tell that EAX is working? I am using Windows 7, Vista, and XP, and I am curious if anyone knows if there is a log file generated when EAX is working or not. I understand full well how to use Alchemy but I am not sure about older games. Any thoughts? If I configure Alchemy correctly, then I do not know how to tell if I am successful 00% of the time. The game may sound good, but am I getting the legacy effects or did the developers just do a good sound capture?
Thanks for the thoughts,from what i know games can use EAX through openal. also openal can be used by some higher-level libraries like fmod. a good example which was already mentioned here is bioshock which used fmod, openal and eax. a game could also be coded in a way that it uses EAX hardware processing but it doesn't have to be explicitly selectable in the options.
i think we can blame both game developers and creative for not enough info on the subject.
when a game comes out and uses the next new shiny dx we all know that long before release.
there is much less information about how sound is produced by a game besides "it supports 5./7."
i think someone from creative should post an extensi've clarification on the subject. -

Do note - if your Windows 7 OS is a 64-bit version, make sure that the plugin actually ends up in the Mozilla Firefox plugin folder (default '''C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\plugins\'''). There are reports of the plugin (or actually Firefox) ending up in the wrong folder. 64-bit Windows systems has 2 Program Folder locations - "Program Files" for 64-bit applications, and "Program Files (x86)" for 32-bit applications.
Also note that the Windows Media Player is required to use the plugin - if WMP has been uninstalled from the Windows Control Panel, the plugin will not work.

If the iMac is always wired to the router, you would normally turn wireless off on the iMac since there is no reason to have it on. Fewer wireless connections equals fewer changes for some type of wireless interference to enter your network.

If you connect the Time Capsule to your main router using ethernet, you need to connect an ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on the router to the WAN (circle icon) port on the Time Capsule and configure the Time Capsule as a "bridge" as follows:
Open AirPort Utility - Click Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the icons
Wireless Mode = Off (I assume that your other router is creating your wireless)
Click the Internet icon
Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Once you have the Time Capsule configured, you can plug the iMac into any open LAN <-> port on either your router or the Time Capsule. -

Unfortunately, this only works if the program writes to standard
error if there is an error. Some programs (which I have no control
over) do not - what I really want is access to the status variable.
What I did is wrapper the programs like above and, if the status
variable is set, then I write to an error file. This is a
non-portable solution, I would think. Currently on a Unix platform.
I was hoping the runcommand would return the status variable or
equivalent.

I have done this and turned it to false (hope that's right)

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I told them to cancel it, and I would retry. I ordered it again the next week, and it all happened again. They offered to escalate it and have it processed manually, but it could take another 48 hours. I told them to forget it.
The next week, I activated a single line on my own account. It worked flawlessly. I ordered around 4:00 PM, and it showed up around 4:00 PM the next day. The difference was that I activated a single line on a new account, as opposed to activating another line on another account.
It was a headache, and believe me, I know how you feel. Verizon representatives are more of a headache than they are actual help. Their hands are always tied, and everything has to be escalated. -

When you say you "go and sign into your account"... do you mean in settings on your iPad?
On your iPad, you need to go to Settings app, select Messages. Check that iMessage is turned on.
The 'Receive At' address should be your Apple ID email address. If not, change it to be that.
Then go to the Message app. Try sending a new message to someone who also has iMessage up and running.
