Fan is not operating

Dear Sirs,
I'm from São Carlos / SP / Brazil and I bought a TouchSmart Notebook HP ENVY 17-j041nr in Orlando at the Microsoft Store in Millenia Mall 30/10/2013.
However, the unit is experiencing the following error:
"The system has detected the cooling fan is not operating Correctly.
Continued operation is not recommended and may cause unpredictable behavior That Could Result in random shutdown, possible data loss or system damage. The system will shutdown in 15 seconds. To Prevent shutdown operation and continues operation, press the Enter key now.
System Fan <908> ENTER - Continue Startup "
The unit is still under warranty according to data from HP:
HP ENVY TouchSmart 17-j041nr (response from the HP website: The following information is provided for your product)
Warranty Status: Covered under warranty Warranty end 10/30/2014 (YYYY-MM-DD) Date
I would like to know, please, what to do?
Best regards,
Edvaldo Luís de Almeida

Hello Vadoalmeida,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you have questions about warranty service for your ENVY 17-j041nr. The good news is that HP has a Global Warranty, but their are some restrictions. The Global Warranty basically means your product will receive warranty coverage based on the available coverage in your current location. For more detailed information you can view the Global Warranty and FAQs page.
For more specific information about the error you have you can view this document specifically for System Fan (90b) error message on startup. This document has a list of steps you can try before contacting support for service.
If the document above does not help you resolve the issue I would suggest contacting phone support for service options. You can contact support in Brazil at this phone number: 0-800-709-7751 - Support is only available in Portuguese for this region.
Hopefully this helps!

If problem continues then you may have to get the fan replaced. If the computer is still under warranty then you can call HP Tech Support for repair.
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem

Before updating too i got blank screen while booting up and while playing games it  hung too.

  • Will my PowerBook G4 12-Inch not boot if fan is not operational?

I'm just wondering, is there a boot disabler if fan is not operational?
I've been having fan problems lately. The fan blade was scraping up against the metal, making it sound like 1000 angry hornets were attempting to escape my laptop. But, last class, my PB just wouldn't start. I attempted a verbose boot in openfirmware but that did nothing. I thought it was a shot hard drive, and that isn't out of the question (hard drives don't last forever) But just a few minutes ago, right after the startup sound, I listened closely to my PB. I heard the fan turn on and off a few times then the grey screen came on and there was no fan noise anymore. The booting cannot pass the grey screen. No Apple logo, just a blank, grey screen. I can boot into OpenFirmware and I can also boot into the Startup Manager.
Any help with this is muchly appreciated,
    -t

You may have seen this note about the gray screen at boot time.

  • Message on bootong the laptop that cooling fan is not operating correctly

tell me ..how can I resolve my laptop problem

Bend out a paperclip and put it in the fan grille so it holds the fan blades. At the same time, take a can of compressed air and blow it in there. This may loosen a dust clog and allow the fan to spin correctly. If that does not work all you can do is disassemble the unit and replace the fan.

  • 'Cooling fan is not operating correctly' - System Fan (90B) - HP Envy 14 2002ea

    Hi
I just bought this laptop off of someone and am having this error appear at startup. It only appears on fresh startup, not if I restart.
I can hear the fan working and it's not particularly noisy, although it is on continuously. Is this normal? I also have an Envy 14 1050ea and the fan in that is running quieter and also definitely cooler. Although the Envy 1050ea is i5 and the 2002ea is i7.
I thought it might need a BIOS uprade for the 2002ea but turns out the latest is already installed (F.0F).
Has anyone else had and/or managed to rectify this problem? Don't really want my laptop to melt on me...
    Thanks

Try a hard reset. Remove battery and AC plug; hold down power button 30 seconds. Wait 30 seconds. Plug in AC. Power on. Also try going into the BIOS (F10) and reset to default settings. Lastly take a bent-out paperclip and stick it in the fan grille to hold it from spinning out of control. Now blow in some strong compressed air. If none of this works, the fan needs to be replaced. The part is cheap but it requires significant disassembly.

  • Power fan 'not operating'

    Hallo, I have h535 desktop.
In BIOS is written that my power fan is 'not operating'. But it looks like PSU is working nornally and is quite cool.
Why there is in Biios such a statement?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Having a 7200 RPM hard drive is another reason to leave the fans all plugged in and the side cover on.  A 7200 drive will generate more heat than a 5400 RPM drive.  That's why a lot of laptops will have a 5400 installed instead of a 7200.
If vibration is a problem you could try inserting strips of rubber like from an inner tube at the points where the drive contacts with the drive cage.  Then secure the drive screws, but don't over tighten them.  It is also possible that the vibration you are hearing is from the drive cage itself.  When the drive is working, try putting little pressure on the cage at different points to see if the vibration quiets down.

  • My hp laptop's fan is not working

I have an HP Pavilion g6-1145sg. It was working properly all morning, and then I put it to sleep temporarily (about ten to twenty minutes). When I went to turn it on, the screen was black and said something along the lines of
"the system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating correctly. Continued operation would not be recommended at this time... may cause unpredictable behaviour that could result in random shut down, data loss or possible system damage."
Then after a few seconds it shuts off completely. There is an option to continue with system resume, and I clicked it once, but it didn't go all the way through to letting me use my laptop properly (I got to my desktop background and it shut down).
This has never happened before, and I have never had any problems with my laptop such as this before. I have had it since last August, and it has worked somewhat alright through until today. Of course, the system lags occasionally, but nothing serious, mostly just aggravating.
    How can I fix this?

    Hi Shwetasonali,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion g6-1145sg Notebook and fan issues. Here is a link to overheating as this might be the cause of the shutting down. If the Notebook has dust on the fans it could be overheating the graphics card. If that does not help at the end of this document it shows you to do a hardware test. The final thing you should try is to update the BIOS.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

  • My laptop says fan is not working but seems to be working fine!!

    Hi,
My laptop (HP, pavalion dv6) gives me the 90B error which says that the system has detected a cooling fan is not operating correctly. It says that If I press enter  I can continue into the windows but it may cause damage to my laptop. otherwise it automatically turns off after 15 seconds.
The strange thing is that this error doesn't pop up every time i turn on my lapton and I have been using my latptop for months now even when the error shows up and using the fanspeed software my cpu temperature is around 38 celesius when idle. (which seems to be normal)
I had the fan changed yesterday and all the vents cleaned out, still every once in a while the error comes up upon starting.
I also tried the hard reset trick but it didn't help.
So can anyone please help? Shoul I be worried or keep working with my laptop despite the error? Do u have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Help us to help you by posting the following information. 1.  The complete Model Name. or Product Number. of the notebook - see This HP web document if you don't how to locate the model number and\or product number. 2.  The complete version and name of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 64bit ). If your notebook is from the model year 2012 and has UEFI PC Diagnostics, then there is a minimal risk with a BIOS update. You should also be able to safely update the BIOS by running an HP Support Assistant tuneup to see if there is an available update. Download the BIOS update via the HP Support Assistant if there is one available and perform the update.  Make certain that the power adapter is plugged in when you do this and do not remove power until the flash is complete!

  • When i turned on my notebook a message indicated that a system fan (90b) was not operating correctly

When I turn on my HP Pavilion G7 - running Windows 7 -  notebook an error screen comes on saying that a system fan is not working with what seems like an error code of 90B.  I can continue through to startup normally, but the message indicates that it may cause malfunctions to do so.  How do I resolve this problem?

Try to use a can of compressed air in the reverse direction of the normal air flow with the computer off. A dust/lint/hair matt can accumulate on the inside of the heatsink near the fan blades.

  • Error "Connection Failed The server may not exist or is not operational..."

This is just FYI in case somebody else runs across this. On one user account, an error window would pop up every so often that said:
    Connection Failed
The server may not exist or it is not operational at this time. Check the server name or IP address and try again.
It turns out that the problem was caused by Screen Saver. The error popped up whenever screen saver tried to launch. On the problem account I had the "Pictures" folder selected for the screen saver, and apparently there must be an alias in that folder pointing to something on a remote server, because as soon as I go to System Preferences and open the Screen Saver panel, I get the error.
It has been driving me crazy for months but finally I thought to look in Console, where I saw the error "afp_mount[5045] CFLog (0): CFMessagePort: bootstrap_register(): failed 1103 (0x44f), port = 0x2d03, name = 'com.apple.afp_mount.ServiceProvider'"
Searching for that error led me to the Macosxhints forum at http://forums.macosxhints.com/archive/index.php/t-53209.html where a user had posted the same problem. Changing to a different screen saver or a different folder for pictures resolved the issue.
