Fan noise being picked up while recording in garageband

For some months I have been using garageband to record my narration of stories. When I played them back they were perfect.
However, today I recorded 2 stories and when I played them back there was a constant huming [the fan] noise in the background.
Would anyone be able to help me please?
My MacBook Pro is 10 months old.

I am not running anything in the background while recording.
If your fans are running at high speed, although the computer is not experiencing heavy usage and is properly ventilated, you may need to reset the System Management Controller (SMC), see:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
To adjust the recording level for the internal microphon, just speak into the microphone and watcht the indicator lights below the slider. If these lights occasionally go to the right margin, the level is too high and may result in clipping, then move it back to the left.

  • Cracks and Pops noises coming out while recording on garageband using Boss gt-10

    Hi
since I downloaded the new Garageband v.10 (Oct. 2013) and OS X Mavericks i have a problem now recording my guitar thro garageband using the boss GT-10, during recording, the sound comes out some Pops and Cracks.
i did turn off the noise sound and i been setting up in a clean sound.
does anyone else have this issue? does anyone know how to fix

i figured out that i need a new usb driver for my gt 10, it hasn't been released yet, and i'm not sure it will remove the noises that will resolve my problem, let's hope so, i've been waiting for the driver for a week. it's taking long!

  • Digital Noise While Recording

Hello - Any suggestions on how to solve the digital crackle/noise I'm getting while recording (single instruments and multi) into Garage Band 2? I'm using the Presonus Firepod on my Powerbook and recording onto a LaCie Firewire drive (should be fast enough), and it only seems to be happening on the mic channels, not on the line input channels. I can't seem to find any settings that would allow me to make a bigger buffer or something... looked around Audio-Midi Setup too...
All gear being used is high quality, i.e. it's unlikely to be the mics or cables (as far as I can tell).
    Please help, thanks!

Figured it out! It turned out to be something to do with monitoring and where the input/cue knob on the firepod was set. Back in business...
    Thanks!

  • Removing Fan Noise

I shot a wedding in August and it was terribly hot in the church. They had setup many many fans to cool off the audience, which was nice but the audio for the ceremony has the underlying fan noise in it. The groom was mic'd and the only other source of sound I have is from the shotgun mic on the camera, eliminating the fan noise at the time of recording seemed impossible with the equipment that I had.
I am able to do the reduce noise and you can barely hear the fan noise but it makes the audio sound like it is in a tin can, is there anything I can do to not make it sound so tinny? I have tried to remove the noise to the point where the tinny sound starts but you can still hear the noise very loudly, almost making the noise removal pointless.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Jeff

If the noise is a very low hum (low as in frequency, not amplitude), try using the low cut filter under process . . . eq and filters.

  • Computer noise while recording

    Hello,
I was wondering if there was a simple way to reduce the noise that's generated by the computer's fan while recording with the internal mic.

I guess maybe another question would be then what is making the noise? Is it the fan? or the hard drive? I know that I 've recorded before with no real hassels due to internal computer sounds. So what are some things that I can do so that my computer doesn't make these sounds while recording with the internal mic?
I appreciate the advice concerning aquiring an USB mic however I am primarily using the internal mic in situations where I don't want to have to "set up" a mic. Call it laziness, or just the fact that I don't want to have to carry around extra gear that I don't necessarily should have to carry around considering there is a mic attached to this here machine. Simply put, I'm not recording major projects with this mic. It's more so for spur of the moment ideas or jams. And so it's simply an issue of aesthtics for when I playback recordings that have been tainted with a constant sound of computer whirl. I'm siting here listening and am thinking "man this isn't such a bad sounding recording, except for that frackin' computer buzz. Dammit!" You know how it is.

  • Eliminate "Fan" Noise When Recording

I am brand new to Logic Pro, like just installed it an hour ago. Could anyone direct me in the menus to the place I need to go to be able to record without that background noise?

    Turn off the fan.
Oh, but if it is the fan from your computer, you need to isolate it from your microphone.
Welcome to recording with a microphone 101, where the microphone shows you what sounds are ACTUALLY in your room, and how your brain tunes most of them out.
1.- How big is your room?
2.- Can you place the mic so it's null point is directed at the fan noise source, so it does not pick up as much of it? (If you do not know what a null point of a microphone is, you really ought to pick up a basic recording book at your local bookseller).
    Cheers

  • Delivery quantity changed while delivery was being picked .

    Hi Friends .
I have  a big problem, because the delivery quantity changes while the delivery was being picked.
This is the positively the 3rd time that we have seen this, possibly the 4th, recently.
Delivery was created this morning for 800pc. Batch determination was telling the picker to pick from perticular storage location SLOC 112. (all 800pc) (25pc =1 pallet)
The picker knew that he was picking 32 pallets from that row.
After he picked 32 pallets, the system was telling him that he needed to pick 2 more pallets.
At that point, I  saw delivery .The quantity in the delivery had, at this point, increased to 850.
Delivery shows that 32 pallets that had been picked up to this point.
again  it is calling to pick 2 more pallets.
at this point of time  delivery is for 850 (not the original 800)
I have not changed the quantity in delivery or in order . how come delivery quantity has changed while materials are being picked .
Kindly I request your speedy reply as it's priority ticket .
    Thanks in advance .
    Jayapala S.h

    Hi jayapala
The delivery qty can change while you pick the quantity  if the stock is less than the stock that is to be actually you are going to deliver. As the stock is changing , check the stock in MMBE for that material.
    Example :
Say you have created a sales order for 100pcs but when you are doing delivery material is taking only 75pcs because there are only  75pcs of stock in the storage location

  • Heavy white noise/hiss while recording guitar through audio interface

I have just purchased a new MacBook pro 2011 (low end 15") and have tried recording with an m-audio fast track audio interface. Unfortunately I'm getting terrible white noise and hiss while recording my guitar. The guitar is plugged straight into the interface using a guitar lead which is then usb connected to my mac.
I am pretty sure it's not the interface because it's brand new. Also I have tried three different guitars and all have the same out come.
    Please help
Things that may help diagnose the problem:
I have installed a new driver.
When the gain and presence is increased the noise is worse.
The output is not hitting the red mark.
    Thanks
    Andre

I had your problem and I resolved it! i have my mic and guitars plugged into my Eurorack UB1202 analog mixer which outputs to my MacBook Pro via Bheringer UCA222 audio interface then back to my mixer and to my headphones/speakers. i noticed a white noise last night while i was working and all I did to fix it was unplug the audio interface from the outside usb hub (closest to the screen) and plugged it into my middle hub. the noise has now stopped and its crystal clear.
TL;DR try plugging your audio interface into different usb hubs. it worked for me. hope that helps!

  • Crackling noise while record

I just got a new X-Fi sound card and when I try to record with it I get a crackling noise while recording BUT plays great, when its recording I get the nose and as soon I stop the recording the crackling noise stops, I did have a sound blaster li've 5. and I never had this prob with it's? dose anyone have a clue to what would cause this?
Now I did just do a major computer up grade:
    AMD 64 3500 2.2 Ghz
    ATI 52MB video
    Gig of ram
    300 Gig HD
    ECS K8T890-A Mother board
    Soundblaster X-FI Xtreme

I just found out, that the crackles only occur when I record something using the windows audio driver while/after an application is/was opened that uses the ASIO driver. The crackles do not occur if I record something inside the ASIO application.
I hope you understand what I mean.

  • Cooling Fan Noise Through USB And Recording Software

Anyone know how to keep the cooling fan from making a pop in recording software and through the USB port while hooked to an interface and pa system. The pop comes when the fan turns on or off.
    Thanks for any help

Fixed my own problem... if anyone else has this issue and sees this all I had to do was update to ML 10.8.3 and it took care of what ever bug was in the system.

  • Loud fan noise while gaming on GT70 gaming laptop

I've loved my laptop ever since I bought it but there seems to be one problem with the fan possibly.
The fan noise is really audible and it gets annoying when I'm gaming. Games like Fable Anniversary (highest setting) forces the fan to be turned on and make loud noises that even wearing a headset wouldn't help avoid. You know how new MSI laptops have a button for turning on cooler boost 2? It feels like it gets turned on by itself while playing some, if not most games.
I would first like to know if this is normal for a gaming laptop. Its REALLY annoying, I even tried the GT70 Fan control 1.63 but the fan keeps turning on by itself. I understand that the GTX 870m gets heated fast and therefore needs to cool off, but like on almost every game.....Skyrim, Tera (not even that demanding.....and not even on max setting ....) long hours of playing league of legends, The Last Remant..etc. I wanna play without such loud fan noises  I don't mind if its audible but not too loud, I can even hear the fan noise from upstairs if I leave my room door opened. I would really enjoy playing Tera and Archeage without such irritating, loud sound that really distracts me and makes me fear that its abnormal. Hell, even Rift (MMORPG) released in 2011, would turn on turbo fan.... =(. Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Specs:
    Name: GT70 2PC Dominator
    Intel Core i7-4810MQ
    GTX 870m
    8gb RAM
    1TB 7200 RPM

There isn't much you can do with the tool but better than nothing.
It didn't fix the fan problem =/
I'm not the only one with such problem, https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=256673.0 look at the 2nd video and just listen to how loud the fan noise is. (Yes different models but same crap)
The silent option doesn't fully stop/slowdown the fan,  maybe just momentarily then once you open up the game, the fan goes back to its usual 3k RPM. Is there ANY way to stop this? its been happening ever since I bought it and it really makes me not wanna play simply because of the noise that is audible even through wearing a headset. Let alone not wearing a headset....
Sad it happens even when playing fifa 15. I mean is fifa 15 even THAT demanding? the answer is no, not even close to demanding as its using the same engine as 13, 14 ..etc. Also, I played it on my old lenovo laptop that had WAY lower specs such as gt 650m graphics card and yet the fan was extremely quiet, and I might add it was on highest setting....
I understand that the gpu can get heated fast, but on almost EVERY game? at first I thought the fan will only make such noises when playing highly demanding games such as Skyrim. A game from 4 years ago without any frkin mods. or Fable Anniversary..OR Prison Break: Conspiracy (what the f?) but it turns out that the fan will go turbo mode on literally every game. so in conclusion, every game is suddenly demanding thus the Cooler Booster 2 will automatically turn on.

  • Fan noise (not moo or whine)

I have a new mbp, the second one, both whined. On this one while moving my laptop I can listen to the fan scratching against something. Should I worry about this and get it repaired now, I need my laptop a lot and I can't afford to be without it. By the way, it whines like **** and it's a 1,83ghz. I've seen 4 mbp 1,83 and they all whined. I've also seen a white macbook that didn't whine.
It's very difficult to me to get support and replace my laptop, no apple stores arround here. (Portugal).

I know getting AppleCare support can be difficult in some countries. Does this list of Apple support numbers help at all? I know Portugal isn't listed, but perhaps one of the nearby countries...?
You don't need to be near a retail Apple Store to get warranty support, as long as you can contact AppleCare by phone.
On this one while moving my laptop I can listen to the fan scratching against something. Should I worry about this and get it repaired now...
It's not a good idea to move a running notebook Mac, although we all do it sometimes. Obviously they can moved a bit when in use without problem, such as when using in a moving bus, train, airplane, etc. But I've never had one that didn't make some ugly-sounding fan noises when moved abruptly. (The optical drive with a CD/DVD in it will also make horrible noises if picked up abruptly while in use. Not a good idea.)
In other words, unless the sound occurs when all you have done is lightly move the MBP, I wouldn't worry about it. Just don't jar the computer heavily when it's running. That's never a good idea.
If the sound does occur at the slightest movement of the computer, and it sounds like something is being damaged, then definitely call AppleCare if you can.
(Yes, we now have the sudden motion sensor, which should help in such a situation by protecting the hard drive. But that doesn't mean some damage can't still be caused by dropping or jarring the MBP. It's still best to avoid such things.)
