Fan not working on AMD card pwmconfig

I can run 'sensors' and the output is this (i cant feel any air coming thru my vga exhale)
atk0110-acpi-0
Adapter: ACPI interface
Vcore Voltage: +1.33 V (min = +0.85 V, max = +1.60 V)
+3.3 Voltage: +3.34 V (min = +2.97 V, max = +3.63 V)
+5 Voltage: +5.08 V (min = +4.50 V, max = +5.50 V)
+12 Voltage: +11.88 V (min = +10.20 V, max = +13.80 V)
CPU FAN Speed: 3813 RPM (min = 600 RPM, max = 7200 RPM)
CHASSIS FAN Speed: 1800 RPM (min = 600 RPM, max = 7200 RPM)
POWER FAN Speed: 0 RPM (min = 600 RPM, max = 7200 RPM)
CPU Temperature: +44.0 C (high = +60.0 C, crit = +95.0 C)
MB Temperature: +30.0 C (high = +45.0 C, crit = +75.0 C)
k10temp-pci-00c3
Adapter: PCI adapter
temp1: +46.0 C (high = +70.0 C)
(crit = +99.5 C, hyst = +97.5 C)
But the problem is, that I cant configure fan speeds, at all. Its overheating a lot because of it.
If I run as the wiki says, pwmconfig, I get
# pwmconfig revision 6166 (2013-05-01)
This program will search your sensors for pulse width modulation (pwm)
controls, and test each one to see if it controls a fan on
your motherboard. Note that many motherboards do not have pwm
circuitry installed, even if your sensor chip supports pwm.
We will attempt to briefly stop each fan using the pwm controls.
The program will attempt to restore each fan to full speed
after testing. However, it is ** very important ** that you
physically verify that the fans have been to full speed
after the program has completed.
/usr/bin/pwmconfig: There are no pwm-capable sensor modules installed
I dont know what to do, I saw something about editing grub (and I tried it, and didnt work, also saw that is quite dangereous to do)  but I find it odd that Its not detecting my AMD 6950 card. I also ran sensors-detect ,and they loaded 2 modules :
Just press ENTER to continue:
Driver `k10temp' (autoloaded):
* Chip `AMD Family 10h thermal sensors' (confidence: 9)
Driver `it87':
* ISA bus, address 0x290
Chip `ITE IT8721F/IT8758E Super IO Sensors' (confidence: 9)
Do you want to generate /etc/conf.d/lm_sensors? (YES/no): YES
ln -s '/usr/lib/systemd/system/lm_sensors.service' '/etc/systemd/system/multi-user.target.wants/lm_sensors.service'
Unloading cpuid... OK
Im using propietary drivers, which they have a far better performance in my opinion.
Thanks

Find a can of compressed air or an air compressor and a paperclip. Bend out the paperclip and stick it in the fan grille to hold the fan from spinning wildly and possibly getting damaged. Blow in the compressed air and see if there is a blockage that can be blown out. It works every now and then. Otherwise the computer needs serious service.

Weak PSU is all I could say. 300watts can't even support a P4 stablely, not even to talk about combining a P4 to any new VGA cards... Get a better 400watts or more PSU with +3.3v at @ least 26A, +5v at @ least 35A and +12v at @ least 18A.

    Hi,

HP ProBook 5220m (Bios Version F50) Fan not working with battery power but work fine with adapter plugged in.
This issue was found in my replacement motherboard. the original mother do not have this issue.
The origianl mother to be replace is due to can't power on after a power failure recovery. I believe was due to power surge killed the motherboard's power controller circuitry.
Appreciate any one can provide clue for resolving the problem.
I have tried to install speedfan to try my luck, but it can't any fan in the application to configure. (Bios Version F50)

  • Horrible fps problems, fans not working

    Hi,
Whenever I play League of Legends on my 15 inch retina macbook pro, the game starts out smoothly with a consistent 60 fps.  However, after a certain period of time, the fps severely drops to about 5.  It never used to do this, but now it happens consistently.  Also, the fans have not turned on in months; they used to always be on whenever I played League, but they seem to never turn on anymore.  Could the fps problem be related to the fan not working?  Please help, and thanks!

  • 2540p fan not working

Hi,I bougth netbook hp 2540p windows 7 instaled, and have a problem with cooling fan.The fan not working on the battery ,working connected to power adapter all the time.have you any suggestions how to fix it.thx
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Windows 7 or Windows 8? You are likely set to passive cooling in power management while on battery which means the laptop will do almost anything rather than kick on the fan while on battery. It will slow the processor instead. If you shift to active cooling your battery will get eaten up very fast. In short, I think your system is probably fine and messing with it does not make any sense. However, here is some more information on passive vs. active cooling:

  • Error 90B - Fan not working properly?

Hello, this is my first time here so please excuse me if I posted this in the wrong section.
    First, general specs:
    HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
    BIOS:  InsydeH20 Version CCB.03.61.09F.21
    Processor:  AMD A6-3400M APU w/Radeon HD (4 cpus ~1.4GHz)
    6g RAM
(If anything else is needed to help me ask, and I shall post it)
Last week I received an error 90B for my laptop's cooling fan.  I was playing Guild Wars 2 and in the middle of playing my laptop shut down suddenly.  When I turned it back on it presented the error I'm asking about.  The thing is, the system wasn't overheating in the slightest and the fan was working just fine before it shut down.  I've tried many fixes proposed on HP's website and from a couple of friends:
-Compressed air blown into the vents
-System restore to a point where the fan worked
    -Hard reset
    -BIOS update
None of those proposed fixes worked.  However, I did find something that fixed it...for about ten minutes.  I fiddled with the Catalyst Control Center and set my CPU power back to its default 1400 MHz, and I shut down my system.  After I restarted it I miraculously didn't get the 90b error!  You could imagine how happy I was.  I shut it down one more time to see if the error was truly fixed, but lo and behold it showed up again.
The only change that could have caused the issue was me downloading a program called SpeedFan to monitor my system's temperature (I did NOT (I repeat, DID NOT) change any settings using the program - I purely used it to monitor the temperature.)
I cannot afford to have a repairman replace or look at my laptop as of now, we have bills to pay and food to get, and I absolutely NEED this computer to function.  I have work to do, and classes to sign up for, and we have no public computers for miles.  Please help me!

Not every fan error is a heat error. There is a sensor that detects a bearing that is wearing out or spinning that is out of round. You can sometimes limp it along for 6 months before the fan absolutely has to be replaced. When it does you will not be able to get past the error.

  • Eeepc 901 fan not working

Hello everyone! I installed Arch on my EeePC 901 and everything seems to run smoothly, until I noticed that the fan is not working. I did a little search on the forums, to check if someone already had to face something similar but with no success.
This is the output of pwmconfig:
    # pwmconfig revision 5857 (2010-08-22)
This program will search your sensors for pulse width modulation (pwm)
controls, and test each one to see if it controls a fan on
your motherboard.
    Found the following devices:
       hwmon0 is acpitz
       hwmon1/device is coretemp
       hwmon2 is eeepc
    Found the following PWM controls:
       hwmon2/pwm1
Giving the fans some time to reach full speed...
    Found the following fan sensors:
       hwmon2/fan1_input     current speed: 0 ... skipping!
There are no working fan sensors, all readings are 0.
Make sure you have a 3-wire fan connected.
You may also need to increase the fan divisors.
    See doc/fan-divisors for more information.
This is the output of fancontrol:
    Loading configuration from /etc/fancontrol ...
    Error: Can't read configuration file
And this is the output of sensors:
    Adapter: Virtual device
    temp1:        +62.0°C  (crit = +85.0°C)
    coretemp-isa-0000
    Adapter: ISA adapter

    eeepc-isa-0000
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    fan1:           0 RPM
I'm pretty a newbie and I don't know what to do, is there someone who can give me some advice please?
    Thanks to all.

Thank you for your answer, sorry but I can't check the forums too often...

If you require additional assistance I would encourage you to post your product number for your computer. I am linking an HP Support document below that will show you how to find your product number. As well, if you could indicate which operating system you are using. Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?

  • Y40-70 fans not working

I sent my computer in for a repair because of a faulty wifi card. A few days ago, I got it back, but now the fans aren't working at all. The temperature is constantly at around 70°C. I've already tried updating the bios, and even doing a factory reset, but the problem still persists. I have to use an external laptop cooler for it to be usable. I'm so tired of dealing with the problems with this laptop at this point.

    Hi MustafaHashmi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing issue with touchpad not working in your Lenovo Y40-70 laptop.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

  • MSI GTX 680 TF3 OC 2GDR5 BOTH FANS NOT WORKING

]BOTH FANS OF MY GPU ARE NOT WORKING THEY ARE AT FULL STOP AND MANUALLY ALSO NOT SPINNING THROUGH AFTERBURNER UNLESS I APPLY IT AT MAX 88%  BELOW THAT AND THEY COMPLETELY STOP ALTHOUGH AFTERBURNER IS SHOWING ME THEY ARE SPINNING WHAT CAN I DO IN THIS CASE? PLEASE HELP... WHEN I BOOT THEY SPIN FOR 1 SEC & AFTER THAT THEY ARE COMPLETELY STOP.. MY TEMPS ARE REACHING SKY HIGH . THE ONLY WAY TO USE IT BY RUNNING THEM AT 88% ALWAYS MANUALLY? BELOW THAT AND BOTH FAN STOPS.. PLEASE HELP :s

    I see.
You can either find replacement fans online, or buy aftermarket cooler for GPU. Or as last solution: find a broken card that will cost not much, but it and replace heatsink with fans.
Or ask MSI, maybe they can redirect you to some store with fans:

Also did you try to reinstall Afterburner? And are you able to test the card in different PC?

  • MSI N470GTX Twin Frozr II both Fans not working

I bought GTX 470 Twin Frozr II several year back
now the fans stopped working (not spinning at all)
I've cleaned the dust and did everything
can I get new fans for the card (My card is OUT OF WARRANTY)
    how much new fans cost???
    can anybody tell me????

fisrt one fan stopped working and later the other
i touched them and both FANS were too hot to touch
cable connections of both fans are fine
sometimes they spins but with very low RPM 200~400
few months back both fans were very free to move (i tried spinning with my hand when I was cleaning the card) now they are hard to spin like dust is inside the motor of the fan (I know fans are not of use anymore)
I already know about Arctic twin turbo II but i'm not spending that much money (I live in INDIA so the shipping charges are about 10$~13$), 65$ heatsink + 12$ shipping = 75$~78$
I want just fans not entire heatsink
