Fan speed gets faster when i charge my macbook

hi guys.
Actually, i am an user of MacBook Air(2010 late) though,
the reason i'm asking you of my problem here is just this section has much more users than Air section.
Anyway, i have a problem. i think this phenomenon occured to my laptop these days and the problem is literally same with the subject.
Fan speed gets faster when i charge my macbook air!
There's no more process or something in charging, totally in same environment!
I'm assuming that the charger has a problem like over-voltage..but i'm ignorant of this so.. just it's my guess.
please help me!

More heat is generated by the charging system while the battery is being charged than when it is already fully charged and charging has automatically stopped. More heat means more fan activity, so it sounds to me as though what you're seeing is to be expected. However, other users of MBAs would know better than I do just how much of a temperature and fan-speed difference is normal, so I hope you will repost in the proper forum and get some responses there. MBAs and MBPs are quite different.

Hello, this is my first time posting here, and my first mac.
I was using my macbook pro 2.2 today while unplugged, then once i plugged it in when it was low, i noticed the fans sped up to about 3500 - 4000 rpm. I looked in the iStat widget and i guess the highest temp was the memory control, it was about 60c.
Is this normal to happen? If so, can someone explain why?

Yes, fan speed can increase when charging. This is simply due to the fact that the act of charging a battery produces heat which can just be enough to ramp up your fans, especially during summer when ambient teemperatures are higher.

Why does my trackpad start to lag when i charge my macbook pro?

This week suddenly my macbook pro has the issue that my trackpad starts to lag when i charge my macbook. I have had my macbook for 6 months now and everything worked fine until now.

Have you tried another cable?
Another charging source? Does iTunes see the iPod when you connect to your computer?
Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, foreign material and cracked or broken plastic.
An appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store would be next.

Why burn speed gets faster?

Hello every one,
Here I have a common problem of stuttering DVDs with various players.. but
Bit rate set by me was too high so I am re-trying..
The questions is, since a few days ago, dvds get burned so quickly, even though I use
same dvds Verbatim x16. When I did the first, second and third try, I waited like 4 hours.
But now I wait (for the same project of 2.5 GB) about for 15 minutes. That, it seems to me,
has started to happen since when I used for one time SONY DVD-RW x1x2.
Firstly I don't understand how I can set the burning speed in DVD SP 3, which
seems important for not making stutturing DVDs. Secondly why does the speed
change automatically, when I touched nothing??
My dvds (with wrong Bit Rate setting) played very well
only with my Samsun 4-year-old DVD player, while
with other freshly-opened new players they didn't.
Could it be that new cheap ones work in a lousy way?
Both new ones showed also audio problems.
With one player the audio was histerically vivrating, with another one
some sounds such as river water sound and music get louder
while others such as human voices remain too low.
I have to admit that the sound was not Apacked, but i wonder if it depends on players.
I hope with new Bit rate and A packed sound, something gets better...

Also the stuttering problem is solved, as far as one DVD players that I tried yesterday,
with a Bit Rate lower.
But the sound problems remain.. the audio still goes high and down.
Does anyone know the cause and remedy? same experience?
On this thread I posted my problem of Audio with 48.0007khz rate
in original clip. Could it be the cause? Even after rendering, could the difference
in audio rate cause such effect? If so.. as fixing up the original clips is
impossible, I would have to give up making dvds..

I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on what you mean by reinstalling iOS. If you have restored your iPhone to factory settings and tested without restoring any of your backed up data and the issue still persists, you may need to have your phone serviced. You may find the following page helpful:

I have about 97% directoryservice cpu usage, 55% cpu usage, high temps and fan speeds with very minimal activity on my macbook, how can I resolve this?

Recently my computer has only been showing 42% idle when im doing absolutely nothing on the computer, i'll only be browsing the internet. Even when I shut down programs such as drop box, skype, itunes, etc. When I check activity monitor the only process that is using over 5% is directoryservice, and it is usually sitting between 90-99% usage. I downloaded istat which is showing my cpu temp at 77 degrees and fan at 4000 rpm. If I watch a youtube video it will kick into 6000 rpm. Please tell me how I can resolve this issue!! When I restart the macbook it seems to work for about 10-20 minutes where I can browse with ~90% idle and ~2000 rpm.

I discovered this issue independent of this thread, and can confirm that killing KiesWifiAgent will instantly take care of DirectoryService's high CPU load. You'll also free up a bunch of memory. On my MBP (8 GB RAM), Kies had leaked its way to consuming 1.5 GB of memory.

Iphone get hot when on charge but wont charge or connect to itunes??

For the last few days my iphone has been playing up. First of all the screen went funny. I had a bright white screen to start with, then it changed to the apple symbol stuck on the screen for awhile, the screen wouldnt turn off and felt very hot. I tried doing the reset (home + on button) quite alot but it just flashes off then back to the apple symbol, Iv plugged it in to the charger and to the laptop but no joy. The battery finaly went flat so all that comes up on the screen now is the empty red battery symbol, when I plug it in to charge the red battery symbol stays on the screen but doesnt charge and gets very hot!!! Its a 3gs what can I do?? Any ideas??

I have the same trouble. After reading many internet sites around this subject I found the following solution.
Although apple explained that it is not necessary with the lightning connector to use it in a special direction this seems not to be true.
I have just turned my connector by 180° and it is working again.
Hopefully this direction does not fail too. There are only 2 possibilities

Fan speed not increasing when cpu/gpu runs hot (causes black screen)

I've spent a good deal of time trying to narrow down the cause of all the crashing to black screen issues that I've had in both boot camp and OSX. I had first noticed it in boot camp while playing fallout 3 and warhammer online. After playing for awhile, when the gpu hits around 85C, the screen will turn black and the audio will begin looping. A cold reboot is then required.
Running COD4 in OSX led to the same problem. I figured it might be an SMC issue so I reset it and launched COD4 again. The first time I tried, I thought I had fixed it but when I launched the game again, the fans no longer sped up to cool down the machine.
I believe there is definitely something wrong with the SMC on my machine and the same issue may be affecting several other people who have reported the black screen problem when gaming. Will speak to apple tech support tomorrow to see if there's an SMC upgrade coming up. If not, I'll need to replace the MBP AGAIN. What is up with apple QC these days?

I keep sounding off about this in every thread I see it mentioned because it's really a problem for me.
I have had this occur with Postal 2, Eternal Lands Client, and 4x4 Evolution 2. My Macbook Pro was manufactured Nov. 5th and I received it on the afternoon of Nov. 13th, purchased from the Apple online store.
The screen doesn't just go "black", the backlighting actually goes off. The audio tends to loop. If I let it sit for a while I find "NVChannel(Display):" timeout! errors in the log.. But nothing indicating a panic, crash, or hang. Most times there is NOTHING in the log which is very disconcerting obviously.
I ran an 8 hours extended looping hardware test with the AHT CD today and it found no problems.
Tech Tool Deluxe find no problems either, for whatever that is worth. Yet it seems if I play any OpenGL based game I get an unpredictable, random dead screen and audio loop.
With the various talk about temperatures, I find that it happens even if I just turned the computer on. It takes about 30 seconds to boot, and if I start a game immediately it often has blacked out immediatley.. No time to get hot. iStat Pro reports temps not even getting far past 65 sometimes when this happens. Full screen or windowed mode, still happens. But only with games. Any kind of video or screen savers or anything, no problems. Also, only with the 9600M GT.
In another thread people have had success with exchanging their units. Not sure what happens for me having bought a CTO online.

I was having some performance issues with my MacBookPro (C2D, 2,16GHz, 2GB Ram, 120GM 5400 stock drive)
My girlfriend has the same speced MBP so I could compare performance:
-Mine needed 50 secs more than hers to start Adobe Photoshop CS2!!!
-mine took 103 sec to copy a 440MB folder to the desktop (within the external drive, freshly booted system, 20GB free on HD, no USB/FW storage connceted to the computer)
Hers took 48 sec!
No wonder it felt dead slow! It even had trouble playing back small quicktime movies!!
This was a big shock to me, usually a computer tends to feel slow for psycological reasons after a while but here I could compare and be sure.
Then I did a cleaninstall incl initialising the HD before and the same folder copied in 83 secs!
After that I zeroed it once and insallted anew: 65 sec.
The I zeroed 7 times and insatlled another time: 50 sec.
(just out of curiosity, I tried it again with a 7 time zeroing and it stayed at 50 sec.)
What happens on the HD when zeroing that makes it copy the same folder quicker?
What could be the problem of my HD?
Would you suggest me to have it changed?
Will this be covered by the warranty?

Basically, it just sounds as if your caches were full, and when you zeroed out the disc, they emptied. Why it became faster on each zeroing out, I don't know, the first one should have been the same as all the others.

The Issue Is Majorly Caused When Any Effect Is Applied On The Video And Rendered The Issue Occurs. And By Closing The Application And Restarting The Application Its Works Fine Again But As Soon As The Effects Are Applied Same Problem Occurs Recursively.

What is the format of the material you are editing, is it variable frame rate?

Restart gets stuck when downloading updates on MacBook Pro

When I go into the Software updates on my Mac Book Pro, it says that all the updates are downloaded, but then when I hit restart, I get the big "space" screen and it doesn't do anything. It gets stuck there.

Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Does iCloud calendar get wiped when my iPad/iPhone/MacBook Pro dies or gets wiped?

I have a simple question but I couldn't find the exact answer for it.
What happens if my MacBook Pro/iPad/iPhone gets wiped (recovery or reset) by accident or dies and if I try to remerge to the calendar on iCloud?
I assume that iCould will retain all the old information and an iDevice will automatically download the calandar events from iCloud when I remerge, since it seems like the same process as adding a new iDevice to the iCloud account.
Or will it also delete all the events on iCloud calendar when a device gets wiped?

Satellite C55-PSCG8E FAN running fast when pluged in

Hi There,
My laptop's FAN is running really fast and loudly when plugged in AC power source.
However the FAN runs quietly when the battery is used.
The laptop is new and so far only the antivirus application is running.
Is this a normal behavior or an issue ?
Normally a FAN run as fast when the CPU is hot and many applications are running.

Dont be worried about this notebook behavior this is nothing unusual
The reason why the fan is running faster when AC adaptor is connected this very simple: the Windows system use different settings using the battery or mains power.
Using battery mode, the system is configured differently in order to save battery power and to increase notebook working time.
You can change the settings in control panel -> power options.
Here you will find different power plans
Click on the current power plant and check the Change Advanced power settings.
Here you would find the settings for cooling method (sometimes its placed within the Toshiba power saver or Processor power management).
There you can change System cooling policy: you will choose either passive or active
