Fao BT staff - BTHub v3 type A DHCP/port forward i...

I'm a computer technician currently working for a BT client to set up their CCTC cameras to be accessed from their iphone. I've set a few of these up so know what I'm doing but this Hub has got me! It seems that port forwarding and IP reservation are a known issue in this hub but the type B version works fine so before I go back (10 miles) to see if reserving an IP outside of the LAN pool does the trick and other tricks I thought I'd ask to see if BT would simply post the client out a v3 type B hub and be done?
If this is possible I'll get the client to call and explain/ask.

Using that method works best for all of the BT home hubs, as DHCP seems to lose track of the IP address assigned to a specific MAC address. Sometimes it works for a while, then fails.
I can point you to some threads which may help, most apply to the HH2, but the same rules apply.

  • How to DHCP port forward on Dlink Router

    Greetings,
I have 3 computers on a LAN. Powerbook G4 (Mac OSX Server 10.4.11), Macbook Lepoard (OSX 10.5.2), and Windows XP. I have Dlink Wireless Router (DIR-625). My Powerbook is connected to router via ethernet cable. the others connect wireless.
i want to use Powebook G4 running server to act has DHCP Server, and NAT. Currently, I setup Dlink to act as a Wireless Access Point by turning of router's DHCP server. I assigned Powerbook a static IP address then turned on DHCP server with DHCP ranges. (no overlapping). Then I assigned Dlink a ip address outside of the range. I turned off everything. Then turned on devices in this order.
    1. Router
    2. PowerBook
    3. Other computers
When I check my Macbook connection. It self-assigns IP and does receive DHCP from Server. I checked all settings. But no luck. Is there another way to do this? should i be port forwarding instead?
    Confused
    Thank you

  • HH3 Type B port forwarding not working.

    Hi there.
I have searched absolutely everywhere for a solution to my problem before posting here. Basically port forwarding isn't working at all on my HH3 Type B router.
I've read all about the problems people have had with the Type A's but as far as I see nobody seems to have a problem with the Type B in regards to port forwarding or loopback.
I've set up port fowarding on many different routers with many different ISP's so I don't think it's something I'm doing, or rather, not doing but you never know.
These are the steps I take when setting up port forwarding:
Firstly setting up my static IP (obviously only needed to be done once) which I've chosen one outside of the routers DHCP range as I've always done in the past. Then I open the router screen, go to Settings / Advanced Settings / Port Forwarding / Supported Applications and click "Add new game or application".
I then enter a name, change "Copy existing game or application" to "No", and then change the "Protocol" to UDP or TCP as needed (also have tried using "Any" too with no luck). Next add a "Port Range" for example 12345 - 12345 then add "Translate To" 12345 - 12345 (port ranges obtained from portforward.com per application) then click "Add" and repeat for additional ports as needed.
Once that is all done, click "Apply" then go to Port Forwarding / Configuration or go to Home Network, select the applicable device and choose the newly added application from the "Port Forwarding" drop down list (and choose applicable device if doing it from Port Forwarding / Configuration). Click "Add" once application is selected.
Add additional applications where needed then finally click "Apply" to store the forwarded ports.
Close router page and port forwarding should be fully setup and working.
That's basically how I would do it anyway, but I also checked on portforward.com and it says pretty much the same and on these forums as well as a few other sites and I see nothing different but port forwarding still isn't working.
In my router "Event Log" it does show "The Port Forwarding entry of [xxx.xxx.x.xx] has been added or modified.".
My Firmware version is V100R001C01B036SP03_L_B. Last updated 19/05/13.
I have no firewall on my pc and the one enabled on the router is set to default but have also tried disabling it. Have tried enabling DMZ as suggested in various places with no luck and have tried changing UPnP settings again with no luck.
So if anybody has any suggestions I am all ears because this is bugging me so much as there are a few applications and games that require port forwarding and are pretty useless without it really.
    Thank you.

If you follow the instructions on this page, it should work. Please see note about CG-NAT.

  • Trouble with port forwarding, DHCP, VUZE, and downloading speed.

I am using Vuze to download things. I have a slow download speed and yellow smiley face, indicating a NAT problem. I think I need to implement a port forwarding, but that requires a static IP address. My router and security is set up such that I CANNOT connect to the internet using a manual configuration--DHCP only. However, I always have the same IP address. This is because the wireless router--a Motorola SB900--will only recognize approved computers designated by the IP address.
Can anyone advise on what to do next?

you are dealing with two networks. There is a network between your computer and your router. There is a second network between your router and your ISP.
Port-forwarding is from your router to your computer.

However, I always have the same IP address. This is because the wireless router--a Motorola SB900--will only recognize approved computers designated by the IP address.

You need to set Port-forwarding between your computer and your router. You will need a fixed IP address on a your Computer. There is to ways of doing this. You can set up a static IP address on your computer. A hack would be to add 10 or 20 to your IP address that your router gives out. For example if your router gives out 192.168.1.10 you of would add 10 to the ten giving 192.168.1.20. you need to make the addition to the right most number of which in the example is ten.
The section way is . . . You can have your router a signed a fixed address based on your MAC address. ( Each Internet device has a fixed address that is called the MAC address. This is a different address than your IP address. the MAC address is assigned in the factory. )
Another hack would be to Port-forward to the number your router assigned at random. If your Computer is the only computer on the router, the number should always be the same. It is a hack because this is not guaranteed.

  • WRTU54G-TM Port Forward issues, DHCP server disabled but still gives out addresses

I've seen other posts about port-forwarding issues.  I've had to hard-reset the device twice in 2 months to clear this up.
One issue that I can't figure out at all is that the DHCP server gives out addresses when it is set to disabled.  This is a problem because it gives out the public DNS servers, which will not resolve addresses on my LAN.  Anyone else seen this?
Anyone had success putting this router behind a better one and still getting the phone SIM to register and work?

Have you tried to upgrade the firmware on your Router?
Click Download  the latest firmware for your Router and save the Firmware file on your Desktop.
Once you Download the firmware for your Router, Now you need to login to the Router setup page and click on the "Administration" tab and below click on "Firmware Upgrade" and then click on the Browse Button and select the firmware file and click on Upgrade.
Once the firmware is upgraded successfully then you need to Reset your Router and Re-configure all the settings on your Router from scratch.

  • Home Hub 5 (type A) Port Forwarding

Does any one know if port forwarding can be set up for ports 8080 & 8081 on the HH5 (type A). Each time I try all I get is this message,
Conflict, The game or application you've selected conflicts with an an application () you've already assigned to anoter device. Please remove the othe applicaion or select the same device.
Port forwarding worked for these ports on HH3 (type B).
Have read the notes BT give for port forwarding, do not seem to work for HH5 (type A), what should I try to do, go back to using modem & HH3 (type B) or request BT to change HH5 (type A) for a type B

  • WRT54G - won't display DHCP clients, won't let me change port forward

Just wondering if I need a new router....
It seems to never be able to display the DHCP clients table any more & when I try to forward a port to a connection, the table says it's forwarded, but it never actually changes it.
I upgraded the firmware to 8.00.7 (the latest for v8 hardware), did a hard reset and powered off to reset.
Still no luck....maybe it's just time for a new one?
    Any suggestions welcome.
    Thanks,
    Eric

I just recently got the same issue in regards to the DHCP on my WRT610n. On windows XP a simple right click of the connection, and clicking repair forced windows to flush the DNS and renew them. After than the machine showed up in the DHCP list on the router again (I guess for some reason the leases suddenly stopped being renewed). Unfortunately this appears to of been removed in Windows Vista and been replaced by some kind of automated diagnose and repair system (If no problem is found it does nothing. Unhelpful).
However if you go to start > run > type "cmd" and enter to bring up the prompt, then type ipconfig /flushdns and then after it's complete type ipconfig /registerdns, that should force it to renew it's DNS from the router and it may show up in the DHCP table once more on the router. There's also a ipconfig /renew command that renews all adapters. If you wish to find out more about the ipconfig commands and what each of them does before doing anything, feel free to type ipconfig /?
Unfortunately I haven't found a way to get my router to keep renewing the leases as usual, so I guess this is just a temporary solution to part of your problem. As for the router going to the wrong IP, I was going to suggest DHCP reservation but I've just found out you don't have that, so instead I've found this quick thread that may / may not be helpful to you as it points out a few interesting rules that Linksys operates by: Click Here
As for the Port not forwarding, I'm not really sure, I'm just another user with issues of my own. I hope that one of the mods/staff/more knowledgable techi/person on this forum addresses your issues better than I have soon. Though isn't port 80 the default http port, and thus automatically open anyway? Can you even assign that port to anything? I thought it'd be reserved and thus not usable. Have you tried assigning a different port and forwarding that instead? But then again I'm not the most knowledgable of people =P

  • Dhcp setting and port forward

I am using wrt54gx4. I have a IP camera connected to it. I can view the live images on the intranet and internet. Not too long ago my DSL company upgraded my DSL modem to a newer model. Then I can not connect to the internet by PPPoe. DHCP is fine. So the only connection type works is DHCP. But now I can not view the live images on the internet. I can only view the live images on intranet( I mean if I open web browser and type http:///192.168.xx.xxx:4545, 4545 is the port, I can view the live image), how can I solve this problem?

You probably have the notorious double nat issue. I'm sure your new modem is actually a gateway so you can either put it into bridge mode and do PPPoE from the wrt54gx4, or more simply, turn the wrt54gx4 into an access point/switch by using option #1 in this guide.
After using option #1, you should open any necessary ports by accessing the gateway's GUI.
I don't work for Cisco. I'm just here to help.

  • DHCP Relay forwarded to Secondary when Scope is not available in Primaray

Two ip helper-addresses (let suppose DHCPServer1 and DHCPServer2) are defined on each of the branch router, and customer want to divide the load of DHCP request on two different DHCP Servers. The propose solution by customer is to disable some scope from one DHCP Server (DHCPServer1) and define the similar scope in second DHCP Server (DHCPServer2). Does the DHCP Relay request would be forwarded to secondary server (DHCPServer2), if the scope is disabled on first DHCP Server (DHCPServer1)?

The DHCP request is forwarded to all the addresses defined with the ip helper-address command.
So if you have 2 ip helper-addresses then the DHCP request is sent to both at the same time by the router. First one to respond is usually the one accepted by the client.

Step 1) Create by coping FRB1 Condition type, Change name i.e. Pack For Val.
Step 2) Change control Data 1)
Condition Class - A (Discount or surcharge)
    Calculat. Type-B(Fixed amount)

  • Port Forwarding to change xbox nat type

I have wasted the last 2 hours of my life, trying to figure this out. Ill try to make it short, but bear with me.
xbox nat type is strict. Im fed up with this. Xbox is connected wirelessly to apple base station.
Ive heard you cant get the NAT type to open, but that you can get it to moderate, and thats what im trying to do.
I have successfully given my xbox a static ip address, and then I have gone in and opened up ports to that ip address. A guide i was following said this would work. It made it worse, now i get kicked out randomly, which didnt happen before.
Can ANYBODY give me or find me a step by step guide on how to get my xbox nat type from strict to moderate using leopard and an apple base station.
    a fustrated,
    -Clay

It is probably your modem that is doubling your NAT. I would set the modem to Bridge mode. That way only the router handles network address translation.

  • How to find what type of firewire port I have

I need to import video from an older camcorder with a Firewire cable. Under my hardware it says "up to 800 MB / sec. but it doesn't say what type of port it is. I need to buy one, but not sure what to get. I looked at the port and it doesn't look like there are "pins"
My computer is an IMac G5 w/intel proc. about 2 years old.
    thanks for help

    Hi, no "pins" per se...
    FW800 port...
    FW400 port...
Then you need to see what Firewire port/cable your Camera needs...

  • Is there a different type of DVI ports??

    Hi All,
My question is that I have a Radeon 9000 video card that supports dual display with ADC and DVI ports, I have a flat screen display to the ADC port and I want to use the DVI port to a television... Well, I got a DVI to S-video/composite adaptor by APPLE, now on the bag, it says for PowerMac G5 or Mac Mini.. I asked the guy at CompUSA and he said it should work as long as you have a DVI port, well, it didn't work, it flickers and when I go to the display pref it does nothing when I click on detect display... I checked the DVI on the adaptor and noticed the pins in the middle aren't there compare to the DVI to VGA adaptor I got with the video card, all the pins are there on it.. I also have a Radeon 7000 PCI card with VGA, DVI and TV out ports, so I attached the same adaptor to that DVI port and it sees it as Television on the display pref...
Now when I checked the DVI ports between the two, the 9000 one is black and the 7000 is white, are they different maybe??
Why is it that the 7000 works perfectly, but the 9000 won't???
    thanks..
    Johnny

Its possible that your OEM Radeon 9000 does not support Dual displays, or that the port is not working.
